Infinite vs. Amy Rose

cutegirlmayra

I had a need.

I usually get excited about ideas and go- "Oh, I'll wait till this can fit in with a prompt request' but there are some ideas that I don't want to forget (which often times, happens.)

Prompt:

Trapped within a broken reality, deep under the city where no light tended to shine, Amy clutched her hammer and slowly turned in all directions as she looked for her foe…

"That robot when somewhere in here… I'm sure of it." She gulped, "T-this time…"

She kept her eyes up, for above her was electrical spikes that would, on occasion, bring some form of light but also danger to her environment.

She felt her knees shaking as she bent them slightly, looking down only for a moment to realize her fear and then shake her head.

"I'm fine! I can do this!" she pumped out her hammer with her arms, trying to put some 'umph' to her words. "I'm tried of just walkie-talkies and backup patrol. I saw a robot escape down this abandoned corridor and I'm not going back up till I find it!"

"…Brave words… for someone so… afraid."

Descending from above what looked to be a traintrack suspended in the air through steel pillars and wires, Infinite floated down and folded his arms.

He gestured a lazy hand up as he spoke with a casual insult… lingering within his voice was the sound of arrogance and a threat.

"You really don't know when to quit." he reached behind him, and as if with a magnetism, sucked a round, small robot into his hand.

He then had it explode within his clutches, and let the scraps fall where they may below him.

Amy gasped and stepped back, dodging the robot's broken pieces before glaring up at Infinite.

"So… you're ordering the attacks on the western front!"

"If you mean the distraction happening towards the western coast of the city… then yes." the sheer amount of wicked pleasure that escaped his breath was enough to make Amy shiver.

"Countless people are being hurt!" she held her hammer properly, ready for any sudden movements.

"And..? Compared to the countless worlds I've inhabited. The endless strings I've crossed and snapped… Worlds without measure have I brought reckoning too… What does a handful of sand slipping into an eternal suffering mean to me?"

"Sand? Is that how you view human life!"

"It's how I see all things… The clouds… the rocks… the trees…. and you. A little pebble in my shoe." He suddenly looked around, before sharply narrowing his eye to her and shooting a powerful aura of energy like a 'powerball' her way.

She dodged, jumping to the side and rolling to get herself upright again.

She straightened her knees out and held her hammer behind her. "I won't let you hurt innocent lives!"

"What is 'innocent'? When I've been doing the same thing I've done in all other realms of existence… Can you call me innocent? When it's all I've ever known?"

"Shut up! You're mad!" Amy jumped up, attempting to hit him but he only spread his arms out, moved at rapid speeds to switch from in front of her… to behind her.

He kicked her in the back and sent her spiraling downward, bouncing a bit on the ground as she fell, before reaching for her hammer.

He slowly maneuvered her body up with his power, as she tried to flail in the air to still reach her iconic weapon.

"You… Amy Rose…" he pulled her with his force up and in front of him, having some cubes suddenly appear around him.

The noise was deafening that they made as she struggled.

He curled his fingers inward, towards himself, and leaned forward. "Tell me… do you still fight for a place at Sonic's side..? Is that all you're pathetic, whimsical mind can aspire to?"

She struggled, but also couldn't cover her ears at the soundwaves that she knew could manipulate time and space.

"You're nothing but a glorified Emerald! And I-..erk..! I don't know how you know that! But I don't care either! Sonic's going to stop you and save me- and this world too!" she kicked her legs out, but he seemed to squint his eye and clutch his hand more tightly.

The aura that kept her floating also now bound her body tighter, and her throat began to feel the added pressure.

"Ah…ahhh…!" she felt her body spread at the force piercing inside of her being, before Infinite threw out his arm and she was smashed up against a wall.

"Haahaha…" his dark laughter carried in the echos of the cave… as Amy coughed and lightly touched below her chin, then trying to get up.

He hovered close to the ground, but still looming over her. "Would you like to see?"

She glared back at him, but her eyes widened in horror at the cubes starting to glow brightly.

He gestured a hand to reveal the Phantom Ruby on his chest, "Would you like to know..? How likely it is that you will ever have what it is you seek for the most..?" he spread his arms out and the noise echoed the whole cave as time and space was ripped apart once more.

Amy saw through the experienced, twisting and shrieking within her mind, all the shadowy images of Sonic running away from her.

She clenched her jaw and threw her hands up to her ears, being free now of his hold, but trapped within this never-ending cycle of being thrown mentally into another dimension.

He released her from the continuous traveling till she collapsed once again on the ground, gripping the dirt that had come from ages of being untouched or cared for.

"There… now you see? There is not even one universe where you're by his side for very long." He allowed himself to hover down to the ground, as the cubes, one by one, began to shrink or flip around to disappear.

The glitching, red code around her faded as she wobbled to get herself upright.

"What is there for you to fight for now..? Why not give in to the devastation? Become one with the torn world and surrender to what destruction may reside?" He extended his arms, his eye shaking in suspense before he closed it and put a hand up to his mask.

"Perhaps then.. your pain can be subdued."

"..You think I haven't endured that kind of pain before?"

He opened his eye in rather a great shock, and spun around to her, having walked like a zombie by him and eyes covered by her quills…. over to where her hammer still laid…

She bent down to pick it up. "You think…heheh…heh.." she chuckled, her shoulders bouncing as he tried to examine her strange behavior.

His eye shifted over her but he couldn't understand. She slowly rose up from gripping her hammer in one hand and watching her laugh.

She swung back to him, a rugged smile upon her face. "YOU THINK I HAVEN'T BEEN THROUGH SONIC LEAVING ME BEHIND BEFORE!?"

He remained motionless… watching her… seeming almost… amazed and puzzled by her.

She threw her other hand up to point to him, stomping her foot down and lowering her head to the ground.

"You could show me NUMEROUS times where Sonic's up'd and left me alone! But nothing you showed me could be pain I haven't experienced before!" she then threw her head up, rage and sorrows mixed in together.

"Well, guess what?! I don't care!" She charged towards him, raising her hammer high as he quickly zipped into the air, hovering above her and moving away as she attacked.

She skillfully stepped forward and launched herself backwards, spinning in mid-air to try and attack him from above.

Once again, he dodged her as she crashed to the ground, her hammer splitting the rock with her powerful force into an indented circle shape.

As crumbling rocks above the corridor and adjacent cavern could be heard coming loosened… Infinite took a moment to look around…

"Such force.. in a small grain of sand…" he looked down at her, not at all happy that she resisted his influence.

She heaved her hammer back up over her shoulders, breathing hard a second, before turning back to Infinite and pointing proudly, with a bold look in her eyes- "I'll still fight for that ONE possibly, Infinite! Even that slight chance that I can be by Sonic's side- forever! And there's nothing you can do to stop me from taking that future!"

"…You could die.." He suddenly, reared himself down and forward, holding a clawed hand back to then swipe it out at her.

She was thrown back but managed to brace as her feet skidded the ground.

She threw her hammer out but he knocked it aside, getting taken aback a moment before Amy leaped forward and summoned it back to her hand-

"Ah!" He was hit directly where the Phantom Ruby rested on his chest… causing it to activate again as the cubes returned.

He struggled in the suspended time, before looking at her hammer and piercing it through with his raw power.

Amy gasped as he then pulled his hand out, and threw her to the ground.

She tumbled and twisted before hitting her head hard against a large rock.

He stepped towards her, and held his claws upward…

"It's time I take any chance for you… away…"

"Noo!"

"What!? OFFPH!"

A spin-effect was heard as Amy came to.

She shook her head and slowly turned to look behind her fallen body.

Sonic was pushing back Infinite, before getting a spinning-kick on him and causing him to move away.

He then looked back down at Amy.

Helping her up… he looked deep into her eyes, as if stating he had heard what she said.

Infinite came back at him but he threw an upper cut that made him stagger, before withdrawing into the shadows.

"This isn't over… the war has only just begun…"

Sonic glared him off but placed his arms around Amy, helping her up before looking away.

He stepped aside… as a cube was revealed behind him.

"…I heard what you said." he stated, low enough that there weren't any echos.

Amy thought maybe he had heard her and Infinite fighting down the corridors, and embarrassed- she looked away.

Clutching her hurt arm, she stated, "I… He couldn't have shown me… every possibility.."

He suddenly opened his arms to her, stepping back.

She looked up, unable to speak a moment before he closed his eyes.

"Not this one." he then opened them, and waited for her to embrace him.

Her eyes swelled up in disbelief, before falling into them, and was amazed she was actually able to-

He kissed her softly, before dipping his head lower down and bringing her more into it.

In shock, she pulled away before seeing him fading… and panicking.

"Sonic!" She groped the air for him, but the cube was slowly fading as well.

He smiled, "In all the other dimensions… you give in to his influences… and I'm never fast enough to stop him." Sonic's eyes suddenly revealed something small and shiny underneath them… before trinkling down the sides of his fading cheeks.

He was suddenly gone in an instant… "Don't stop believing in me… Amy."

His voice was a faint whisper, and in her shock she remained frozen a moment… slowly letting her hands come back to her sides.

"Amy?"

She heard his voice again, whipping around, her tears sprayed out in unison to her turn. "Sonic..!?"

He sped around the corner, the recruit and Little Sonic close behind before they looked surprised and happy to see her.

"Haha! Found her, Tails!" Sonic spoke out, but must have been referring to the communicator.

It buzzed on as she could sort of hear Tails replying back… "Is she okay? Her readings were glitching out everywhere! Just like your run-in with Infinite!"

Sonic came bounding over to her, flipping and dodging rocks in a cool-manner before striding up to her. "Yo. How's the fieldwork been?" he waved to her casually before looking around.

He noticed when the electrical waves sparked above him that their was a hammer dent on the ground…

His face suddenly shifted… as if he was hiding his worry and keeping a neutral smile on his face. "You… fight, recently?" he turned back to her, waiting to respond to any suspicions before she answered him.

She looked him over.

Not a scratch.

The other Sonic looked beaten down and bruised.

Was he… from another dimension?

What he had said…

She lightly put her fingers up to her mouth…

That kiss… was circling in the thoughts of her mind.

It was a desperate one.

A relieved expression was on his face.

Who was he?

The cube…

"Amy?" Sonic blinked, holding his hands to his hips and tilting his head in curiosity as to why she was examining him and then looking away. "You okay?"

"I… um.." She was confused, but the look on her face made Sonic chuckle a moment, before gesturing a hand out to her.

"I think she's fine, Tails. We'll keep tracking Infinite, you just let us know if you get another funny reading again." Sonic spoke out loud before lightly pulling Amy's arm towards and out from him, giving her to the recruit.

"Looks like she's slightly disoriented. Not uncommon for her, haha! But still,.. see what you can do." The last line was given in a little more tenderness than teasing, as he then looked to Little him while the Recruit happily gestured for Amy to sit down and took out some items for healing and first aid.

"Alright, Little dude. Let's find that Ruby!" Sonic performed his signature thumbs up and wink, as Little Sonic nodded eagerly and looked ready to get back into the fray.

The two took off towards the raised, abandoned train tracks.

Amy placed a hand on her heart, while her other arm was being treated by the recruit.

"…Was… Was Sonic with you the whole time?" She blinked questioningly towards them.

The recruit looked up, a bit flustered at the strange question but nodded in response.

"…Huh…" Amy looked away, lowering her hand to her knee… before looking off after the two.

"…How strange…" she suddenly….

Smiled.
