Harvey finally woke up feeling like he was hit by a bus. As he struggles to open his eyes, a wave of nausea and the smell of bacon in his face, he looks up at the blurry figure in front of him. "Ugh, what did I drink last night?" He soon realized it was Mike, his fraternity brother and best friend, with a plate with what looked like a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Harvey groans loudly, as he starts to slowly realize that he spent way too much time out last night.
"Well, it doesn't help that you started the night out with tequila shots, everything went downhill from that." Mike looked at his friend, who by all means, was one of his favorite people in the whole world. After the death of his parents and the subsequent distance between himself and his grandmother, Mike looks at Harvey as his compass to help him navigate college. This has led to Mike looking after Harvey after his long nights out.
"To be fair, I was trying to impress girls and most girls don't find drinking beer to be impressive."
"You don't know that, Harvey. Some girl might be impressed at the idea of you going out without getting absolutely plastered."
It wasn't just impressing girls that Harvey wanted to do last night. He had a pretty rough day; he absolutely bombed an exam, forgot he had a project due, and his advisor told him that he needs to ace his finals if he wants to pass his business classes. Harvey struggled with his classes, he knew they were easy but it wasn't what he wanted to do with his life. He felt that he had no path for himself. He didn't know what he wanted to do, but he knew that he absolutely did not want to do anything with business.
Mike knew all about Harvey, or at least what he was willing to tell him. He knew that he was unhappy with his path, but he had no idea how to help him. The one thing Harvey knew he was good at: making himself visible and invisible at the same time. Harvey seems like an arrogant asshole, but on the inside, all he wants to do is be able to disappear in large crowds. This may be due to his childhood that Mike barely knew about or maybe it's just how he is, but Harvey enjoyed being able to be a fly on the wall.
Harvey opens up his laptop and logs into his school email, groaning as the bright light worsens his nausea. "I should really try and do my classwork before I actually fail my classes. My dad won't be too happy with me. This project doesn't look too bad so I should be able to finish it before it is due." He quickly scans over the requirements, then looks at the clock, 15 hours should be plenty of time. Harvey knew that he should be doing better in school but something in him was telling him that he was wasting his time.
"Well, I have to go to class, I'll see you later, loser!" Mike shouted at him as he closed the door to their dorm. Harvey laughed at Mike, his ability to be so carefree about school, he swears he's never seen Mike pick up a textbook to study. Harvey shakes his head, still nursing his hangover, and continues with his work. It isn't what he wants to do, but there was nothing else he could do.
