xhanisai asked:
What if Sonic were to ask Amy (modern) why she loves him? How would that play out? What sort of reasons? Lots of angst and love? XD Take it away Ma'am~
cutegirlmayra answered:
You know, I've actually thought about this…
The canon in me says to try and make it reasonable but the AU in me says lay it on yall like a hot fudge sunday but no ice to cool you off.
That means, angst isn't good enough.
We're gonna let the dogs out tonight. (It's 4:37 and I don't give a care.)

Prompt:
It was bothering him.
The way she kept talking about how lucky she was…
The way she spun around and threw her arms up, laughing, cheering…
They were the only two in the wide zone, and for some reason…
It bothered him today…
He watched her at a bit of a distance. She had stopped chatting for a moment to spin down the hill and then start balancing herself on the lines between the light and dark brown squares.
When she got bored of that, as her attention span usually did, she started playing hop-scotch on them, acting young and free…
He folded his arms, breathing a deep, trying to be relaxing- breath as though he wanted to calm himself down.
He looked away. His expression was neutral.
Something she had said today bothered him.
He usually was never bothered. Drained, at times, mind you- but never too tried to let her have some fun.
Her fun, anyway.
Well…
He chuckled to himself on that. 'Heh'ing to the side of his face.
But she had said something… something today…
—
"Sonic! You're the greatest hero in the world!" Amy moved her arms out wide, praising him as he soaked it in and scratched under his nose, lowering his head before raising it to speak.
"I know." he confidently chimed, before turning to her with a wink. "And you weren't so bad with that hammer today either, Amy. Have you been working out?"
She giggled in glee, putting her hands to the sides of her face before jumping into a spin and landing gracefully.
He smiled, happy he could make her day.
Before he could walk on, one foot moving in front of the other, he suddenly heard her say-
"And that's why I love you, Sonic The Hedgehog!"
—
He remembered- very distinctly- the first time in his life where he froze.
His foot stayed in the air.
The only movement was his eyes locking into a wide look before returning to normal.
She had laughed and skipped by him.
He didn't think, well, he couldn't.
He slowly lowered his foot and blinked some.
He looked back up in wonder and a bit of surprise as she continued her usual antics, nonchalantly swaying her arms left and right and looking around at the scenery.
What he couldn't get was…
She had never said that before.
Crazy, he knew.
But she really hadn't said it quite like… that before…
He was bothered by it.
It started haunted his thoughts to where he grew silent.
The next action he took was putting his hand to his chin and tucking the other down around his waist.
What had he done today to make her say that?
Was it just him being sweet on her a little bit?
He mused at that, looking up and smirking slightly, but it's not like he hadn't complimented her before.
He had saved her today.
That was a gimmie.
Except, this time, she had got her foot stuck in a hole and it practically made him laugh so hard to get her out that he almost didn't have the strength to do it.
The distress call was originally sent to Tails out of Amy's embarrassment.
Then she insisted he take her on a joyride around a familiar place, somewhere- she had said- that she could reminisce with him in.
What better place for nostalgia then Greenhill zone?
Except.. she just talked the whole time. Didn't even ask why he was so silent.
Wait… was that because he was usually quiet on their-?
Ehem, well, not saying it was… but you know Amy! Heh…
She always saw time with him… or practically anything to do with him as a date.
He moved one of his folded arms and scratched his itchy nose again.
Maybe she was just trying out the phrase…
He looked off into the distance…
His eyes widened once again with an idea… a grand idea… at least, in his mind. His hand stopped scratching his nose and he smiled widely for a moment, his eyes scanning the horizon as if excited by his new revelation.
"Sonic?"
The name sparked him to life, as his eyes flickered to her, still wrapped in that sensational moment of a plan!
"Yes, Amy?"
That was odd.
Amy scrunched up her nose a bit; he never spoke so formally to her. So politely.
"Umm.. why don't you come down and see the flowers that are growing here? Look!" she bent her knees slightly and pointed to some colorful group of flowers he could care less about at the moment.
"Oh really? Anything special about these particular ones?" His flare came back, almost instantly as he kicked a foot out and started trodding down the hillside to her.
After all.. he had a plan!
He comfortably stood next to her, putting his hands to his hips and letting them bend off there as he let the back of his wrist lean against the sides of them.
He leaned down as Amy lightly blew on the flowers… twirling their petals around.
The strangest thing happened.
Sonic was suddenly jealous of a flower.
She giggled and put a hand over her mouth, "They're so small! It's adorable!"
"You're so small. What? They can't grow to be just as pretty?"
"Hmph. I'm small and so I'm cute. You're taller and so you're cool. What's wrong with making all small things cute?" she had puffed up the side of her cheek, and then closed her eyes and adjusted herself on her legs.
She dusted her dress off before tilting her head sweetly and with added cuteness to him, hoping he'd agree with her on the matter.
He smiled and tilted his own head, before setting himself up straight and leading her into his trap…
"What makes me so cool to you, anyway?" He raised an eyebrow. His same, mischievous smile, never left his charming side.
"Hmm?" Amy had stared off at the flowers again, such was her attention span.
He rolled his eyes, his smile replaced with slight agitation and her not playing along.
"Amy. Look. At me." In a humorously, childish behavior, Sonic bent his body forward again and pointed to himself, gesturing her eyes straight to his chest, and then up to his eyes again.
"Don't you know why you're so cool? Hehe! After all, you've been Sonic The Hedgehog for some time now." she played coy, winking to him with a slight flirtation and more praise before tending to her stupid flowers again.
He looked in annoyance at those flowers.
Quit butting in on his show!
He turned his body away, closing himself off and showing some body-language signals that meant he was distant from the conversation now.
"I know why I'm great." he huffed out a little, before rolling his eyes back to her, playing one last time at the game…
"But you know…" he slowly moved his hands up… and behind his head, kicking a leg up and behind the other.
"It's still nice to hear it confirmed once in a while…"
"You're the bravest, truest to your heart hero I know." she nodded, and turned to give him more of his desired attention again.
He beamed.
She was now within his clutches…
"Guess that means you like me cause of all this coolness, ay?" with pride- that borderlined arrogance- he leaned his head back to the side and smiled gladly; triumphantly.
"But that's not why I like you so much! It's just what I think is so cool about you."
His face completely dropped. A mighty pout and frown on his face as he lowered his hands and turned to her.
Now his conflictions and curiosities were to their breaking point.
"Amy." he stated this with every intention of pulling her focus directly to him, as she had once again went to tend to the flowers.
The tone caught her attention and she turned to him, innocent as a rose… some would call her.
"Hmm?"
His ears maneuvered back a moment, as if second guessing this… direct… approach.
"Then what DOES constitute your appraisal of me?"
"Hahaha! What's with the fancy lingo?"
"I thought you'd appreciate it." he slyly looked down to her with a playful ring to his tone and attitude.
She hadn't seen him much like this before, but she rather liked it!
"Are you asking me why I love you? Sonic? The Hedgehog?" she mimicked his funny accent and gestured like a lady to him, before cheekily turning her face away, but keeping her eyes locked on his…
He suddenly… grew his old, shy self again and shifted his eyes from the perfect eye-contact she was creating.
He fidgeted and turned his body away, rubbing the back of his ducked head now.
"N..No… Not personally, anyway." He looked off to the clouds… hoping she would leave it at that.
She laughed again, and got up, dusting herself off and smiling to him sweetly, having her hands behind her.
"Do you really not know?"
He frowned deeper.
At this point, she should get it and stop teasing him about it.
She wouldn't let this go.
"Come on." she shifted her head in a motion to follow her, and giggled when he looked confused.
"Commme oonnn, you silly head! And you call me ditzy!" she teased and grabbed his free hand, pulling him deeper inside the zone.
As he was dragged along, trying to get proper footing for his feet, he stumbled but kept himself up right as he called out, "I call you Amy!"
They came to a lakeside and she threw him out in front of her, before gesturing to the whole of the zone.
"What do you see!? Hehe~" he covered her mouth with both her hands, and waited expectantly for him to answer.
He was once again looking kinda confused, turning back to her, but he couldn't help and smile.
"What are you talking about, Amy?" he shook his head down and slightly laughed at her laughing at him. "You making me fun of me?"
"No, no, please..!" she jumped up and held his attention, as he stared down at her in a fonder way than he ever had before.
"Please…" she finally held his stare. "Just bare with me…"
"I try." he tilted his head, once again that natural charm. "I always do try."
She smiled, and slightly shifted herself to turn towards the lake and the rest of the zone beyond it.
She did so purposefully, because she wanted to still be this close to him.
"Look out there… what can you name or identify in the distance?"
He looked at her strangely, but kept a smile, before throwing a hand out. "Is this some kind of metaphor you're leading up to cause-"
She pawed at his chest, "No, no, no! You're ruining the effect! J-just play along! haha." she turned the same way she did last time but scooted closer to him.
For the first time in a long time, he played the game her way and let her come closer, leaning down to peer out at the world from her point of view- being just above her left shoulder.
"I see green hills." he teased.
"Annnd…?" Amy turned her head slightly, pretending to still look out on the field… but really… she was just trying to get her face closer to his.
"…I see more hills…"
"Sonic." she turned her head fully in disappointment, and he shook his head and nodded towards her.
"Alright." he sighed, "I see…" he narrowed his eyes, squinting from the distance, though he had perfect vision.
"I see a lot of things. Things I can't make out… but that's a loop-de-loop. My personal favorite." as he turned his head to speak to her, his nose lightly brushed her cheek.
He turned back to the zone, his face suddenly frozen as he realized he had let her sneak by with being too close to him…
In another wide-eyed astonishment at Amy's advances… he shook it off and continued… but didn't notice her blush hidden under her hands…
"A-An-And some lakes and checkered pattern runways… w-wha-what does this have to do with anything?" he grew nervous and moved away, swishing his hands out as he wanted to know her answer already!
"..Well.." Amy did step to the side, giving him more space.
She looked down as if for the first time in her own life… she grew timid and shy too.
But Sonic scoffed at that. He had never known Amy to be anything but blunt and cute about it.
Creepy if you only let it be.
"Just like this zone… there are lots of things I see about you!" she gestured excitedly to him, as he folded his arms and she continued to keep her hands close to her face…
"Hehe… I see things I really like. My favorite things. Like your crazy loop-de-loops and such." she nodded and then lowered her arms, swaying her body and bobbing in hyper anticipation for something.
She moved closer, as he slightly leaned back at her advance but… was listening..
She remained silent a minute, looking up and down as if waiting for a response.
He looked down too, before back at her. "Go on..?"
She smiled at the permission, something he was not accustomed to her doing but kinda… liked it.
Appreciating the efforts, he… slowly began to smile at the rest of her words. Still giving her a side look like… she was still crazy to him. But still… he was smiling…
He obviously enjoyed that he picked up on the 'metaphor' part.
He lifted a toe on his outward foot up, leaning himself in a sneaky way to seem to closer- but still at a comfortable distance from her stare…
"So-.. well, ah! You're making me get all embarrassed saying it!" she covered her face. "Eee, I'm so nervous!"
"You?" he leaned up, "Nervous..?"
They were suddenly more closer than Sonic ever dared allowed himself to be.
"….Not a chance." he shook his head, the first time he had ever initiated close proximity with Amy before…
It was a lot of first times…
Amy held in a breath, happily 'spooked' by this sudden action to just walk up closer to her.
The dominance was something she hadn't seen before, him being so bold and… straight forward.
She looked away a moment, her blush showing up in the rim of Sonic's lime green eyes now…
He held eye-contact… while she looked away now.
How curious~
"You've got mysteries to your character. But also a wonderful experience to their grandeur and… image, hehe." she totally just checked him out and looked away.
She did not.
He tilted his head.
Oh she way just did.
He shook his head slowly.
Now, this was his Amy.
"I think you're made up of a lot of beautiful things. And each thing is so wonderful that it can be hard to pinpoint just one." she took a bold move to swish her head back to facing him, but by this time, he was used to the closeness and leaned in.
"You could say there are some things too far away that.. I can't.. make it out."
Her hair swished on his face and he moved away, sneezing a bit as she was alarmed by suddenly realizing he had leaned forward, towards her.
Although, to be fair, she was being flirty.
She just wasn't expecting him to be affected by it.
"Sonic! Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" she moved closer but he waved her away.
He rubbed and snuffed his nose, before holding a hand over his muzzle and smiling like an idiot.
"So… like those small flowers?" he teased once again.
She perked her ears up and laughed, gripping her stomach, and then wiping a tear from her eye. "Yes. Like those flowers… now,.. let me see if I scratched you with my spikes or not.." she moved to reach for his hand.
He stepped back, "No, no. I'm fine. Go on about how I'm a beautiful landscape you like to gaze upon?" he waved her away again, but was clearly playing keep-away.
"Sonic..! Come on," she clicked her tongue, shaking her head. "You know that's not what I- hey!" she batted a hand at him but he dodged.
Weaving in and out of her attempts to reach him, the scenario suddenly changed into a game of tag.
Before they knew what was happening, Sonic had run around her and grabbed her from behind, having her cry out in surprise and kick her legs out.
They tumbled backwards and started rolling down the hill, landing by each other and laughing.
"I love that you can have fun, Sonic! Haha! No matter who you're with! Or where you are!" In delight, she turned to express that feeling with him.
He was still catching his breath, eyes closed.
"…I hope one day… it matters." she bent her eyes back, a tender, quiet longing in her last phrase…
He continued to let the last of his chuckles go before breathing in some fresh air…
And then…
Remaining perfectly still..
And silent.
Amy noticed the shift and grew concerned.
She got up, moving closer to him.
"Sonic?"
He didn't move.
"…Sonic, hehe." she giggled, scanning over his face again.
He smiled.. but didn't move.
"…Sonic..?" Her voice suddenly sounded like she was asking permission again..
He ducked his head… slowly downward…
His smile faded into a neutral look… and she knew what he meant.
She slowly leaned in towards him.
"…Are you sure?"
He didn't say anything.
She blushed and gulped, moving back a second and placing a hand on his chest.
"C-cause you know… w-we've never really kissed before and-"
He peeked an eye open, before rolling them open and leaning up, wrapping an arm around her.
"Oh, will you get on with it, already? Honestly, Amy. Sometimes, you talk too much." he tilted his head, mocking her with his usual Sonic charm and then started to level his head with her own.
Amy blinked her eyes rapidly as she leaned in, cautiously, but then all at once-
They shared their first kiss!
(I liked how this turned out :3c it's like Sonic saying, "Amy, I get it. You geniunely love me. Now kiss me." lol! AU but I think it's more canon then you think…)
