Prompt:

"When you receive more information, head out at once."

"Yes sir."

Shadow and Rouge stood side by side, and nodded to their informant, as he quickly hung up the message then.

Rouge had a hand on her hip, and pulled the other hand up to gesture a slight shrug, complaining, "Why is it they never just call it a 'break' when they don't have anything for us to do?"

Shadow walked passed her and behind, getting himself some work at the computer station, typing things in.

She looked behind her, and dropped her dramatic hand. "Hmm..? Shadow? Aren't you listening to me?"

"I've got'em."

She widened her eyes and blinked, "What? Don't tell me you're still working..?"

"The main trucks got their central supply unit. If we cut them off at the bend-"

She rolled her eyes, listening and tuning out everything he was scheming, walking over with a sway in her hips and shutting the monitor off.

His eyes widened a moment at the sudden disappearance of the image, but reclaimed their neutrality as he looked back to her, frowning. "Why did you shut down?"

"I think it's about time you and I had a heart to heart, Shadow-boy." She sat up on the edge of the computer's controls, and kicked a leg up over the other.

She placed her elbow on her raised knee and leaned her head against her knuckles, smiling with her eyes drooped slightly. "Tell me, Shadow. How's your memory coming along?"

He looked a little startled by her question, and turned away, ducking his head down. "It's none of your concern."

"Ohh? Why can't it be. I was under the impression I was your only friend~" she slyly turned her head to the side, mocking him a little bit.

He closed his eyes.

"I have no obligation to you other than a partner."

"Partners can mean more than missions, Shadow…" she drooped her eyes even more, before seeing him look over his shoulder, and leaning back on the control panel, arching her back.

She lowered her hands to balance herself from behind, "You always act so tough. It makes me think you're hiding something dark behind those serious eyes." she tilted her head, trying to read him.

He wasn't revealing anything.

"Hmph." he turned his head away and walked back to the center of the room, as her head followed his movements, and he folded his arms.

"Still as closed off as ever." she pouted, leaning forward and putting her hands over her legs. "Honestly. You're like the worst jailer. Always on lock down and never having any real fun."

"You call me a jailer… when you really should refer to me as the imprisoned."

"And that's where you're wrong."

Her voice shifted, and so did the direction of his eyes.

"What do you mean? Explain yourself."

She smiled, seeing she caught his attention.

"Well.." she leaned up, dragging her hands along her legs as she did so, looking up to the corner of the ceiling.

"You control your emotions very well, Shadow. No one can really pick up on how you're feeling…" she looked directly to him. "I suspect you keep them in tight cages… I'd like to see what would happen if someone…" She dropped down walking over to him. "Found the key." she poked his chest, and leaned forward slightly, using her charms before walking away and swiping her finger up, almost flicking his nose.

He looked a little annoyed, "You're trying to toy with me. It's not going to work to your advantage." He fought her back, but remained the same monotone'd voice as when he started.

"Everything works to my advantage." she turned around, and flexed her bat wings out.

She then turned to eye him, seeming seductive, but that was just how she looked. "Not everyone judges me by how I act and look, Shadow. Mostly by how I present myself with confidence and-" She raised her hands over her head, straightening her arms.

"Flare." she flexed her bat wings again, before dropping her arms down and smiling as if she knew how she looked.

"But it's fine to stare~" she winked.

He 'hmph'd and turned around, walking back to the computer, looking more closed off now.

"Oh, come on!" she placed the back of her wrists on her hips, and leaned forward, turning ugly as she spoke harshly now. "If you refuse to play along at least nip at the bait and tell me what's troubling you!"

"…Hmm." he smiled. "So you do care?" he turned, mocking her back as she leaned up, surprised he actually knew how to play back.

She smiled, "You never cease to amaze me, Shadow…" she said that genuinely out of love for her friend.

"…If you must know." Shadow looked at an angle from her, profiling himself as he sighed silently to himself. "I've had many thoughts about Maria… my creation… and Gerald Robotnik." he looked down, seeming slightly disturbed.

"Hmm? What was wrong with them?" she blinked her eyes, having her curiosity raised.

"…I… I remembered feeling something." he looked down.

"Something I'm sure that I can't describe… without admitting something else."

He turned away from her sight.

"…Well, go on." she looked annoyed he was hiding again, and put another hand to her hip properly while dropping the other. "What was it then? Use whatever word you have too. I don't care. I won't judge."

She flopped her hand around, shaking it up in the air to show she was dismissing it already.

"…I felt….

…happy…..

is the only word I can think of to describe it."

She suddenly felt her heart snap, and she was so moved by his words.

"Shadow…" she truly looked touched for him.

She turned away, saddened to hear that. "I'm sorry you feel that way…"

He looked up again, and chuckled, his shoulders bouncing.

"Huh?" she looked up, not sure what was making him laugh, as her wings shook a few times out.

"hmhmhm.. you really took me seriously, didn't you?" he chuckled with a close mouth, lowering his head down.

"Ah!" she twitched an eye angrily.

She then smiled, seeing him really relax for a change.

"Why you little-! Hahaha!" she flew towards him, hands out as she planned on tackling him for that little sneaky maneuver!
