Prompt :(Boom) While fighting Eggman, Knuckles gets separated from the team. As he finds his way home, he encounters a cute, young, and loud girl who claims that she's lost her family. Being the hero he is, he agrees to help her. But, she's a pest. She keeps setting off traps and gets into in danger, and she won't shut up! Knuckles get's irritated and yells at her. As the little girl ran off, he tried not to think about her safety, but, is Knuckles really a tough guy on the inside? Hint: NOPE!

Awww! This sounds ADORABLE. It can actually go pretty well with Knuckles's character development too :) learning to be patient and love without getting thrown into offense so easily or just fighting back against everything like usual. (He his hot-headed… then again, so is Sonic, at times XD)

Knuckles was on a 'solo' mission sent out by Tails to find a signal just outside of normal parameters of the village. Thinking it may be a robot that wandered a little too close for comfort, Knuckles draws the short straw and the team force him to check it out, while they all go back to relaxing~ (Imagine them doing the 'draw sticks' game and then dashing back to their lawn chairs, sunbathing with sunglasses and the whole works! lol)

Knuckles, grumpy that he couldn't spend his day off resting up and tanning like the rest of the gang, suddenly hears some crying out in the jungle.

Seeing a small but moderately cute child with pigtails, he figures she was just lost. "Huh?" he moves a long bushy branch away to see her crying with her back towards him and blinks his eyes in confusion for a moment, before walking up to her and bending down to her level by getting on one knee behind her. (he is quite huge) "Uh, hey. Are you okay there?"

she quickly turns around and wakes him right in the nose, calling him a 'monster' and races off.

"Hey!" he covers his nose and grits his teeth together but tries to calm himself down, "She's just a little kid…" he mutters, angrily, to himself, trying not to lose his patience. "She's probably just scared and helpless…"

He wonders after her, but she tends to be quick and agile, being able to zip from one location to duck down and suddenly appear half way across the screen to then show up randomly above him and pull on his hair. He finally has the last straw.

Pulling her off his head, he sets her down and starts venting his frustration and anger out on her, showing he was EXTREMELY annoyed by her, before mentioning he was only trying to help her.

She starts tearing up, sniffling, and then bursting back into tears.

Feeling the remorse of yelling at a small, highly active and annoying, young girl he loosens up and tries to explain his intentions, "N-no! Don't cry! Uh-uh… Look! I was only trying to help ya I-"

"WHHHHHAAAAA-hahaha!"

"…Uh, see, I'm a hero with my friends and we got a signal that seems to be you, but we thought you were a robot! haha, funny story right? good enough to stop cryi-"

"WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAA-hahahaha!"

"…LOOK! SILLY FACE! Duh-huh! I'm an idiot! Look at my funny walk and wiggly arms~ Duh~ I'm not scary at all!" he starts a new approach, trying to be silly and making faces, coming off dumb but just trying to make the little girl laugh and stop crying.

She slowly stops her loud and obnoxious crying and begins to giggle.

Knuckles sighs, seeing as he's seemed to calm her somewhat, before she points to something behind him and starts laughing harder.

"…huh?" Knuckles turns around to see robots that look similar to hornets, all glaring at him as they, in unison, cock their lasers… "Ee!" Knuckles is shocked stiff but quickly dashed and scoops her up, "We gotta scat!"

The robots chase the girl, since we learn that Eggman also got her signal, and then when he found ANOTHER signal, he began to fear that Sonic and the gang may have discovered his secret location for his lab. Afraid he may have to 'abandon ship' per-say, he sent a squadron out to investigate and DESTROY.

Running for his life, Knuckles is forced to watch out for the kid, as she keeps thinking the robots are funny instead of life threatening.

Knuckles finally gets her home safe, after fighting off the robots when one of them just grazed her ponytail and made her cry. Enraged, Knuckles found his 'big brother' instincts and destroyed them all with sheer power, turning around to make sure she was okay. She, of course, saw this 'monster' in a different light now, and hugged his head as she rode on his shoulders.

When the mother was found, she was delighted to be reunited with her little girl, and thanked Knuckles, who felt pretty proud, but was now a bit over-protective the girl, and didn't really want to say goodbye…

A few days later, the team is just strolling along the village, getting groceries, and Knuckles sees her playing with some other kids. He smiles, until three of the boys start picking on her and throwing their bouncy balls at her, calling her weak and a cry baby.

When the word 'ugly' was dropped, Knuckles rose from behind her, in complete shadows from blocking out the sun, and peered down at the boys with his huge form. "You making fun of my friend here?…boys?"

They were all huddled together, shaking in their knees and completely TERRIFIED.

Knuckles leaned right up to the leaders face, "…Boo."

"AHH!" the kids ran off, "Mommy! Mommy, it's a monster!"

"Heh, heh, heh." Knuckles leaned up, cracking his fists, "That'll show them."

The little girl looked up, smiling, and finally said her first words. "My monster." she hugged him, and made him blush slightly.

"Uh…heh. Always, kiddo. Always…" he ruffled up her hair, before shooing her off to play with her friends she was separated from. "Go on, go play."

Sonic noticed a commotion and came over, some food in his mouth. "What was that?" he asked, "You into scaring little kids, Knuxs?"

"Wha-!? Hey I was just-!" he suddenly controlled himself, standing straight up again, he shook out the anger in his body and smiling calmly. "I was just helping out a friend." he stated, and patted Sonic's back. "We should go." he walked off, as Sonic was very confused by his new found 'self control' over his anger issues.

(calling him 'monster' suddenly reminds me of Monster's Inc. XD)
