A/N: This story starts in the episode Kingdom Come.

Kai tumbled over the air falling down the face of the mountain, his mind left him as he was filled with sheer terror. Morro was right below him, they had been falling for only about a couple hundred feet before something strange happened. They started to slow, why Morro was saving him he didn't know and didn't necessarily care or even if it was Morro causing this strange phenomenon.

Morro summoned his dragon and Kai with arms and legs flailing landed on the dragons back. He landed hard enough that all the air was forced out of his lungs which left him gasping for what little air there was up at this altitude. His vision faded and he passed out.

Line break

"Kai? Kai! Wake up!" Lloyd demanded, from where he was in the cage.

Kai groaned and shifted on the floor where he was bound. He blinked a couple of times, before he sat up quickly.

"Lloyd? What? Where?" He demanded after seeing the green ninja.

"Morro, He left you here after you came back a few hours ago." Lloyd said.

"I… Has he hurt you?" Kai asked.

"No. Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Kai said immediately.

Lloyd shifted in his cage, "Morro and his friends are in the other room, planning something."

Kai struggled against his bonds, which were not very strong. After a little bit they became loose enough for him to slip out of them. His feet weren't bound just his hands and he wondered why until he stood and a jolt of pain came from his right ankle, it wasn't going to kill him to walk on it, but he doubted that he'd be very fast if they needed to run.

"They keep the keys on that shelf." Lloyd said pointing to a bookcase on the other side of the room.

Kai tried not to limp as he went over, if Lloyd noticed, he didn't say anything. The key was easy to find.

"Does the door squeak?" Kai asked, messing with the lock. Lloyd shook his head, the door swung open with no noise. Kai looked relieved. "Come on lets go."

They made it a couple blocks before a frigid gust of wind blew through the city, Morro's roar could be heard in the distance.

"Run!" Lloyd said. And they took off. Running straight and making quick turns down side streets and alleys in hopes of losing Morro and his friends. Kai grabbed Lloyd's arm and pulled him into an abandoned shop. They were both gasping for breath.

"Lloyd I need you trust me." Kai said taking off his hood and handing it to Lloyd.

"Kai no."

"Lloyd he wants you. Not me." Kai said. "Besides this armor protects against ghosts and possession so put it on."

Lloyd relented and they swapped gi's and Kai pulled Lloyd's hood over his head. Lloyd sighed, before pulling Kai's over his,

"Be careful." Lloyd said.

Kai nodded, "You to. Good luck."

They separated, Kai going out the door they came in and Lloyd sneaking out the back. Kai had to pull the attention to him so that Lloyd could get away, the less attention you want to draw the more you get, so he snuck away, ducking under buildings and moving fast when he had cross a street or road. It worked the ghosts who had seen a flash of green from above followed Kai.

(Lloyd)

Lloyd went back to Ronin's old shop assuming that all the ghosts including Morro were looking for him. He never made it that far Ronin stopped him before he got there. Ronin pulled them under a little awning so that the ghost's wouldn't see them from above.

"Where's Lloyd?" Ronin asked.

Lloyd pulled off his hood.

"Come on," Ronin said not at all surprised, "We can use Rex to get out of here."

Lloyd looked stunned, "You stole the sword from my friends and you've been working for Morro this entire time. How do I know that this isn't a trap set up by Morro?"

Ronin flinched, "I can see how you might think that. But your friends the other ninja are heading into a trap right now. They'll need a ride out of it."

Lloyd blinked.

"Whether you're in that ride is your choice." Ronin said, stepping into the street, and whistling for Rex.

(Kai)

He stood in the middle of the ring of ghosts. He was ready for a fight, but no one moved to attack the other. Kai had a different fighting style than Lloyd if he attacked then his cover would be blown and Lloyd would be in danger. As for why the ghosts didn't attack, Morro had given clear directions not to harm the green ninja.

Morro had the sword, "Well, You've had your fun. Where did you stash the fire ninja?"

Kai hesitated, Morro would know something was wrong the second he answered, but he couldn't not answer.

"I think you found the fire ninja." Kai said, taking off his hood.

Morro's face turned from triumphant to furious in a matter of seconds.

"You won't find Lloyd," Kai continued, "He's long gone."

Morro looked like he was going to explode. He took a deep breath, and Kai watched with silent pleasure.

"You," Morro said pointing to his allies, "Continue looking for the green ninja." The 'don't fail me' wasn't said but it was very clear. "I'll deal with him."

The ghosts fled, in different directions in search of the green ninja, so Kai was left alone with a very angry Morro.
