Response:
Carmelita drove down the dusk and darkened road in her police car, adjusting the mirror.
'…He's been silent for too long now…' she thought to herself, looking at her reflection in the car mirror. 'Sly… what are you up too.' her eyes narrowed.
A call suddenly rang in, and her eyes quickly darted down to it, as she picked up the walkie-talkie connected to the car through a curly wire. "This is Carmelita Fox, I'm on standby."
"It's a robbery! Down the 28, 70!"
Her eyes widened, "70..? That's where…" she suddenly slammed the gas, as her police car jerked to the side of a corner, and whipped back into a straight course as she flew down the street.
The lights were low but she kept the Intercom on.
"The signals are showing a figure running on foot, holding a strange weapon, he's got the Emperor's Idol! He's coming down the 142!"
Her eyes zipped to a street name and ripped the car's wheel to it's side, the screech made a poor woman put on her glasses and look out the window, but by then, she was already gone and the only thing remaining of her presence was the smoke of dust and skid marks on the streets.
"He's taking out our men at lightning speeds! He's jumping to the roofs!"
She slammed the breaks, grabbed her gun from the middle charging unit as it made a sound like it was fully amped up.
She stood just barely out of the car, one foot down, and looked up at the chimneys.
"There! There! It's-!"
"COOPER!"
The camera zoomed away from Camelita's face as it cried out to the shadowed figure.
The figure stopped, his white eyes looking down, as if he recognized the cry in the night. His tail swished, as he gave a cocky grin, and dashed off again, running along the telephone lines.
She growled and quickly jumped on a large trashcan, climbing a gutter drain pipe and doing an acrobatic spin off a horizontal flag pole, showing the french flag, and jumped to the roof tops. She looked to her direction for only a second, and sped off after him.
Cocking her Gun to 'Stun' settings, she held it out in front of her, and ran with precision.
She slammed herself against a rather wide chimney, and started to fire with cover.
"Woah! Close one!"
A familiar voice dodged the electric balled bullet, and jumped up to a skinny dark chimney.
"Well, the Fox is out of the bag!"
"Ring-tail." she moved out of her cover, seeing he was at least willing to be polite enough to chat. "Where have you been?!"
"Missed me already, I see." he tilted his hat, smirking again. Glad she was ready and willing for a friendly chat. He jumped down and casual swayed his way over to her, not getting too close though, knowing his limits… of course. ;)
"I've gotten every scumbag in this joint. But you've been rather subtle in your affairs… How come you've slowed down, Cooper?" she crossed her arms, leaning her body a little ways.
Both seemed… strangely comfortable around each other…
"Getting a little old there, Coon?"
"Feeling old and getting old are entirely different things." Sly counteracted. "I've been getting tried of you slacking!" he swung his family cane towards her accusingly.
Her face looked shocked by his accusation.
"If you really wanted to find me, it's not that hard to call." He then tilted his head, looking as if he was hurt slightly, "Or did you delete the number?"
She clenched her teeth, growling a warning and shooting again.
"H-hey!" he jumped to dodge, and expertly moved around her.
They began to circle each other…
"You know very well I'm over that whole scam of yours, Cooper!" she declared harshly, every bit of her words diced in venom.
"Heh. What scam, Carmelita?" he then stopped, his tail slightly jagged in his under the breath comment of- "Is it a sin to fall in love?"
She glared, "You're a thief!" she cried out.
He shrugged his arms out, gesturing to her. "I'm so done with this same old,… Same old!" he exclaimed. "It doesn't always have to be the same excuse each time! 'You're a thief! I'm a police woman! clearly it's a tragedy!'" he mimed being over-dramatic about it. "Come on, Carmelita. How long are you going to keep that up? What other excuses do you have?" he folded his arms, seeming fed up with her antics today.
She let her arms drape to the side, and looked down and away.
"Aw, now that's cute." he tilted his head, smiling. "I've finally hit a soft spot."
"Shut up, Cooper." she raised her head, "You know it can't be so…" her words,.. and even her expression looked suddenly gentler.
The intercom came back on, "We've lost him! No, wait! That's our Carmelita! She's cornered him!"
She was startled by the noise of her walkie-talkie, and got low a little bit, just as Sly's immediate reaction was, looking below them.
"Think about it, Carmelita." he started to race off, as she looked back and trailed after him.
"If you live your life wishing It was something else, then you'll only be regretting!" He tactically evaded her fire and jumped down.
The get-away van came roaring out of the alleyway, as he landed on top of it and swung inside.
"…Sly…" Carmelita looked down, at first, with raged fury he got away… but then… with a sense of sorrow.
"…I already regret what it is." she looked away again, holding her arm with her other hand, and seemed forlorned…
Sly stuck his head out the window, looking up as the sirens of police lights and sounds blarred around him, and slowly withdrew his sad face back into the car.
"What's the matter, Sly?" Bentley asked, keeping most of his attention on the road. "You seem upset."
"It's nothing, Bentley… I'm fine." he crossed his legs out and folded his arms, pouting.
"Well, clearly it's more than that." Bentley retorted, as Murray reached his large arm forward, holding a donut.
"Hey! Maybe your hungry! Here~ It's a nice, yummy sprinkle delight!"
"Thanks, Murray… but not right now." he turned his body to the side, as Bentley's glasses formed a worried expression to his eyes.
"Don't worry, Sly. If there's anything I know about love, it's that if it's right, it will conquer all laws of what's right or wrong." Bentley refocused on the road, as Sly blinked his eyes at his words, and looked back over at him.
He straightened up and smiled, nodding his appreciation. "Thanks, Bentley."
"Heh, don't get sentimental on me now. I still need you for next week." he raised a finger at him, as Sly rolled his eyes.
"That reminds me… let's do it tomorrow!"
"TOMORROW?!" Bentley practically lost control of the van. "DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES ME TO PROCESS A FLAWLESS PLAN!?"
"If you cut out the powerpoint, we should be right on time!"
"….." Bentley stared him down.
Sly's 'suggesting comment' seemed to leave a bad vibe coming from Bentley, and so it made his confident smile weakly fade. "….You're right, that was insensitive of me… nevermind." he looked away.
I just feel like I'm getting… slow."
"Slow?"
"Give or take."
"You just want to see Carmelita again!" Murray leaned over in the back of the van, looking to Sly with a pink opened donut box in his hands.
"She wanted to see me more often." he grinned up at him.
"Oh brother." Bentley rolled his eyes. "If I have to wait for you two to quit flirting with each other before we get the heck out of another sticky situation I just might… Lose my mind!" he dramatically moved his hand out from his noggin' as Sly laughed.
"I thought love conquered all right and wrong?"
"But leaving your friends hanging for a dame? That's just wrong." Bentley stated back, as Murray scarfed more donuts into his mouth.
