There wasn't any room to move let alone move the sword to cut down the icicles to get out. Morro growled before leaving Kai's body and floating out of the top sword in hand. Kai's legs gave out and he crumpled, soul settling back into his body, his head ached as if only just aware of the ice spike that had been there for hours. Morro cut down the icicles and Kai managed to jump out, but he wouldn't have made it out if Morro hadn't pulled him forwards at the last second.
Kai was weak. Possession took a toll on the body, and if he was honest he hadn't been in the best of shape when Morro had possessed him in the first place. He hadn't eaten since breakfast the morning when they started to scale the mountain to reach the Cloud Kingdom, the climb up the mountain had been brutal, and the fight in cloud kingdom hadn't done him any favors; neither had falling half way down a mountain. All in all it was a miracle Kai had stayed on his feet as long as he did, though Morro probably had something to do with that.
Kai managed to scramble to his feet, where he threw a hasty punch at Morro, who easily dodged it.
"Don't embarrass yourself." Morro said.
Kai ignored him and tried to attack him again only for Morro to grab his arm, which Morro then used to yank him towards the hole in the floor that the other ninja had made.
The sound of running water was clearly coming from below. Morro looked down into the hole; his grip was strong as ever it was definitely going to leave a bruise. Morro suddenly shoved Kai forward which made him fall into the hole. Morro used the winds to slow there fall. But Kai didn't even have time to even try to run before Morro grabbed him shoulder and yanked him to his feet.
"How does it work?" Lloyd asked, from below.
"How it works," Morro said digging his fingers deeper into Kai's shoulder, "is you'll hand over the Crystal, or say goodbye to your friend."
The sword of sanctuary was uncomfortably close to Kai's neck but he managed to choke out, "I'm sorry. I tried to stop him."
"So," Morro said, "What will it be."
The ninja started to whisper amongst themselves.
"If we give him the crystal he'll usher a rein of his master, cursing Ninjago and all the realms." Zane whispered.
"But if we don't, when has never made good on a threat. Look at Kai. He's too weak to defend himself." Cole said.
That last statement was true, Kai could barely stand, if there wasn't the sword at his throat or the fact that he was standing on a ledge that dropped in to water he probably wouldn't even be standing.
"Ugh." Jay said after glancing up at Kai. "Either option totally stinks. What do you think Lloyd? What do we do?"
Lloyd grabbed the Crystal from Zane.
"Looks like the decision is up to you, Lloyd. So choose." Morro said. Kai stared down at Lloyd, trying to convince him to do the right thing and keep the crystal.
Kai watches helplessly as Lloyd and the ninja debate amongst themselves.
"Stop Stalling give me the realm Crystal or else." Morro said, holding the sword closer to Kai's throat.
"We're not stalling." Lloyd said, "We're thinking."
The ninja huddle together.
"He's right. I'm stalling. What are we gonna do?" Lloyd whispered.
"This guy, seriously chaps my hide. I swear when this is all over…" Cole punched him fist into his palm, and the ground shakes slightly under his feet.
"Our powers." Jay said. "Since Kai got Lloyd away from Morro there coming back."
Cole grunted, "Yeah but there weak, and we're in no position to fight back."
"Leave that to me." Zane said, "Lloyd give me the crystal."
"What are you gonna do?" Jay asked.
Zane held the crystal with both hands, "Something Kai would do."
"Time's up." Morro said. "You leave me no choice."
Kai struggled against Morro hold, but Morro was too strong.
"Wait!" Zane yelled. "We'll give you the realm crystal!"
Morro loosens his grip on Kai's shoulder as Zane tossed the crystal up to Morro, Morro releases Kai completely and Kai's legs buckle, Morro catches the crystal only to drop it in surprise, which sent in tumbling into the river below. "AAAHHH! The crystal! What have you done?!"
Kai stood and tried to kick Morro, but Morro dodged and used the wind to push Kai off the edge of the ledge.
The fire ninja flailed before he fell.
"Kai!" The ninja yell, as he plunged into the ice cold water.
Water's everywhere, his lungs burn; he kicks his legs and flails his arms in an attempt to reach the surface. Kai manages to get his face above the water long enough to take a quick breath before he's pulled under again. He choked as he accidently inhaled water, which only makes him swallow more water, Kai flails helplessly, his vision's dimming. Suddenly someone's pulling him up, air wonderful air. He watches what Lloyds doing and copies him kicking downwards, though his legs are moving slower than Lloyds.
"Lloyds got Kai!" Jay yelled. "But who's got Lloyd?"
"Cole, you have to catch them before they both go over the edge!" Zane yelled.
The noise of water falling was getting louder. Lloyd changes the direction he's kicking trying to get them closer to Cole, Kai's so tired but he continues kicking though now it's just his feet moving and his legs are limp in the water. Kai notices the realm crystal bobbing in the water next to Lloyd. Cole manages to grab Lloyds hand just as he starts to fall, Kai holds on to Lloyd with desperation, he's hanging over the edge of the waterfall, but Cole manages to pull them up and out of the water.
"No." Cole yelped as the realm crystal fell over the edge. Suddenly the realm crystal started to float, Cole's confusion is clear, as the crystal floats over to Morro where he grabs it and runs to the exit.
Kai rolled on his side and started coughing, water trying to expel its self from his lungs. When he can finally breathe again, he slowly sits up. Jay, Zane and Lloyd are standing beside him.
"Guys, run!" Cole yelped.
"No!" Jay, Zane, and Lloyd say at once.
"Sorry." Kai muttered.
Lloyd offered Kai his hand, "Come on let's get out of here."
Kai allowed himself to get pulled to his feet, he leaned heavily on Lloyd but they managed to stumble their way out of the exit. Lloyd lowers Kai to the ground and Lloyd sits down next to him. Zane, Cole, and Jay stand next to them.
"I can't believe you guys cursed Ninjago to save me." Kai muttered.
"You're welcome." Cole grumbled.
"Kai, you saved me." Lloyd said.
"I said I would look after you didn't I?"
"Now," Zane said, "We have the full team."
"And we have our powers back." Jay added.
"As you grow stronger, so will we. And they haven't seen us at full strength yet." Cole said, to Lloyd.
"Morro won't know what hit him." Lloyd agreed.
