Since I originally had no plans to publish the story, I used two scenes from "When Hearts Shine Bright" There will be a disclaimer to mark the beginning and end of those scenes

"Lee," called Rosemary.

"Yes, sweetheart," he answered from his desk across the office.

She set the note in front of Lee which read: Mrs. Coulter, given our current disagreements, the governor has requested a meeting with you at 6 o'clock tonight - Edwin

"I'm going with you."

"Lee, I need to do this on my own. He needs to see that I can handle things myself."

"OK. I'm trusting you on this, but I don't like it."

"Neither do I, quite frankly. I'm going to pick up lunch from the café. The usual?"

"Sounds good to me."

This wasn't Rosemary's only motive to leave her office. She walked down the street and knocked on the door.

"Rosemary?"

"Nathan, we need to talk."

"What's the issue?"

"I have a meeting scheduled with Lucas and Edwin tonight, at the governor's request."

"To discuss the article, I assume?"

"I'm guessing so. I know I might sound a little silly for asking this, but can you be outside the saloon? I just don't have a good feeling about this.. and even though I didn't admit it to Lee, the way Lucas talked to me the other day, it made me feel as though he would do anything to keep me quiet. Honestly, I'm terrified, but I can't involve Bill or Lee. I need to face him alone."

"Yeah, of course. Honestly, the Lucas I've seen since Montague came to town is a power-hungry one. We don't know what he's capable of."

"Can I ask you one more thing?"

"Of course, anything."

"Don't mention this to Elizabeth. Please."

"OK, but I need to find a way to cancel our plans for tonight."

"You had plans? I'm so sorry. You go. I'm probably just worrying too much."

"No, you're not. I'll figure it out. I'll be there."

"Thank you, Nathan."

"No problem, Rosemary"
