"
Or
Izuku gets kidnapped by god and forced to work to keep the world intact.
I don't own Pokémon or My Hero Academia.
It was supposed to be a normal day for Izuku.
Get up, greet his mom and her pokemon, eat breakfast, go to the bathroom and get ready for school, go to school (what feels like his own personal hell), get abus- No! No, it's bullying…. bullied by the students and their pokemon, get his homework ruined, go home, eat supper, get new homework done, work on homemade poke-dex, go to sleep, repeat.
So can someone explain to him, why in Arceus' name is he floating in a dark void. He was just walking to school when he was engulfed in a bright light only to end up in the dark. Well, it's not fully darkness, there were shimmering lights in the distance blinking in and out of sight occasionally. He turned to look around the void, before a buzzing started in his ears made him wince, he shifted around again before he saw his phone drifting away from him. He reached out to try and grab it, but stopped as one of the lights closest to him popped and glowed a bit brighter, he gasped. More stars popped and duplicated until they all started moving to one area in front of him, his phone following with them.
The stars all coalesced, gathering together and growing in size until it was one. He couldn't tell what it was, it glew to brightly but not enough to hurt, the radiance and aura it gave off was slightly calming, his heart calmed down and didn't ram his rib-cage like a wild tauros anymore, his breath came out even and calm as he watched his phone be covered in light.
The glowing ball that housed his phone was brought to his hands, before the being in front of him gave off a yellowed glow, more stars appeared, they glowed blue-ish pink tones as they circled the glowing being.
The ear ringing is back, making him nauseous.
"Thou art here to answer my call,
Don ye hope and bravery.
Quell the beast that breaks thy world,
And save thine destiny.
Break and mend, space and time,
Another world, another time.
Be wary of those you cross,
For thine may be crossed in time."
His ears ring with names of beings he can't quite understand but he knows it. He does. The beings speech, he can't understand but at the same time he can. It rings, buzzes, and burns. The stars twirl and implode like supernovas dancing in the sky, the dust sprinkles on his skin burning worse than Kacchan's sparks, like a thousand red giants slamming into his soul, he wants to scream but he can't. The stars spin faster and spread all around out of sight, before suddenly he blacks out.
"M-… bo-.."
What?
"My-...b"
Who? Who's talking?
"Wake up!" a voice yells
Izuku's eyes shoot open, he looks without moving and startles at the three beings before him.
A mostly navy grey and light peach toned ant-eater like Pokemon with squinted eyes. The next is a round owl like, with big brilliant black eyes, and a bowtie made of leaves. The last is otter-like with a white head and arms, its body a nice sky blue, a small sea shell resting on its stomach. They all stare at the green haired teen.
"Are you alive, my boy?" a voice startles Izuku even more than before, "woah, calm down kid… I won't hurt you." the man, as Izuku realises, holds his hands up as a sign of peace.
Izuku eventually calms down enough to stand, looking around he notices he's on a beach, absentmindedly wiping the sand off himself, he focuses on observing the man before him. He's tanned and a little rotund, but not obnoxiously so, more like healthy fat, he has a toque on with a large pom-pom on top, a white lab-coat with a what looks like a 'G' but with other symbols mixed in. he wears a brown-ish grey button top with a dark purple grey bowtie, with black and gold pinstripe slacks.
The man smiles now that Izuku has calmed down, " You gave me quite the shock, falling from the sky like that…" ??? said, "But thank goodness you seem unharmed!"
"W-who are you?" Izuku manages to stutter out. The man frowns, but no angrily, more full of concern.
"I'd like to ask you the same!" the man exclaims.
"I mean… you fell out of the SKY, you understand. Come now- who in the world does that?!"
Izuku can think of at least 6 people that do that.
The man looks at Izuku closer, or more-so his clothing, "I must say, your clothing is… unusual. You wouldn't happen to have an acquaintance in these parts, would you?" he asks with a hand to his slightly stubbled chin.
Izuku thinks he's about to cry because this is very stressful, " N-no… I doubt it."
The tanned man scratches the side of his head in thought, "So you don't know anyone here, and you Don't even know where to spend the night…" he huffs, "Well this is a proper pickle indeed. Are you quite sure you'll be alright?" the man questioned.
Izuku thinks for a moment. Will he be alright? He doesn't know where he is… he thinks he knows what brought him here, but he's not quite sure whether it's a quirk or a Pokemon. He has watched videos and read guides on how to survive in the wilderness, and has plans on where he would go if he ever went out on his own journey
Slowly Izuku nods, "I-...," he swallows, 'god why was it so hard to talk to people', "I- … somehow I guess." he looks down at the ground and frowns, didn't he have his bag with him? Where is it?
The man crosses his arms and thinks for a moment before lowering his arms and smiling, " I see… Well, no gentleman would abandon a person in such need!" the man exclaims cheerfully.
Izuku looks up in shock, is this man going to help him? He's about to ask why-
Krooo!
They both look down at the owl-like creature startled.
Fooom!
Plish plash!
The other two add in, crying out.
"Oh my, I'd completely forgotten! I had just caught up to these runaway Pokemon when you tumbled out of the sky…" the man pauses thinking for a moment before looking at Izuku, "it's almost as if they knew you'd appear!"
Izuku pauses at that, did they know? It's quite possible they did, Pokemon were very supernatural beings after all. Izuku looks back at the man.
"Ah, but do you even know what a Pokemon is?" he questions.
'Well thats a dumb question', Izuku nods "o-of course I do!" he says happily with a tint of confusion.
The man smiles at Izuku, before pausing and looking in shock, "ah! But I do apologise. I haven't even introduced myself!" he smiles, "My name is Laventon. I am something of a Pokemon Professor. That is to say, I'm a scholar seeking to deepen our understanding of Pokemon."
Izuku's eyes shine, he got to meet a Pokemon Professor! "Really?!" the young teen exclaimed in excitement, "o-oh wait, I'm Izuku," he said shyly.
The Professor smiled mirthfully.
"Pleasure to meet you, my boy, and yes pokemon such as these three, whi-" he turns just in time for the pokemon to run off, Izuku yelps in surprise, "Oh, blast and bother! My darling Pokemon! Why must you run from me again?!"
Laventon sighs, his shoulders slouching as if weighted before turning to Izuku, "I'm terribly sorry, I know you must be weary of all this, but, do you think you could help me round them up? I beg you!"
After thinking for a moment, Izuku nods, if this man will help Izuku while he's here then it's the least he can do. Laventon smiles before turning around and immediately running after the pokemon, "Wait, you three! Waiiit!" Izuku, not wanting to get left behind, runs after him.
As he runs something sparkles in the corner of his eye, slowing down Izuku turns to look at the glowing object which happens to be his phone? But it has a white case with a weird golden circle around it. Picking it up carefully, startling when it beeps but not dropping it thankfully. Looking closer he noticed a message on the screen.
"I bestow upon thee
With chaos of three
An Arc to hold thine quest"
Underneath the poem is a message.
"Seek out all Pokemon"
He hums to himself in thought, before putting the Arc Phone away in his pocket, then continuing the path that the Professor went down. Eventually getting to a small field with a few trees and boulders and one small hill and a pond, he walks up to the Professor.
Laventon sighs, "Alas… yet another miss!" he drops the small bag he had been holding. Izuku walks up to him, "Y-you alright Professor?" he asks.
"Ah! Not really, my new friend from the sky. I tried catching my little runaways by tossing some Poke-balls their way, but I'm not the best at this sorta thing you see…"
The Professor thinks for a moment, "perhaps you should have a go at it, but i would like to tell you a bit about these three first."
"Go ahead, P-Professor." Izuku says happily, ready to learn more about the Pokemon.
Laventon nods before turning and pointing to the owl-like Pokemon.
"Now, that one is Rowlet!" , said Pokemon is wandering up on the hill poking at rock with its talons, "Rowlet can photosynthesize like a plant, and apparently it battles using its sharp feathers."
Krooo!
The Rowlet fluffs its feathers up as it flaps its wings. Laventon turns to point at the Pokemon that is between the three boulders, Izuku turning to face that way too.
"That one over there is Cyndaquil!" He says cheerfully pointing to the navy blue pokemon with flames bursting from its back, "The fire burning on Cyndaquil's back will flare up whenever it is surprised or irate."
Fooom!
The fire flickers on its form as it cries out.
And at last they both turn to look at the Pokemon running around the pond, "the Pokemon near the pond is Oshawott.", He smiles, "Oshawott naps while floating on the water, and it can battle using the shell-like object on its belly!" Laventon exclaims joyously.
Plish plash!
Oshawott cries out happily.
Laventon's eyes widened for a second, "oh my I nearly forgot to cover the most crucial thing- how to go about catching Pokemon!"
Izuku smiles at the Professor's forgetful nature, "it's okay Professor I already know how."
"Ah…" the Professor pauses before turning to Izuku and asking hesitantly, "can I show you anyway? I haven't been able to teach anyone yet."
Izuku looks at the professor, then sighs quietly and nods, "go ahead, professor." Laventon quickly smiles and continues on.
Bending down to pick up his bag, and handing it to Izuku, "here are some poke-balls, what you want to do when you throw it is make sure the latch on the front is unlocked and the poke-ball is at full size, it locks once the pokemon is inside."
Izuku looks in the bag and sees primitive looking pokeballs, they look like the kind he's used to but a bit more bulky. "The hole at the top will shoot out a firework when the Pokemon has been caught." he grins.
"Then when the Pokemon has finally been caught and the firework goes off, the ball will shrink into an easy to manage size." he rests his hands on his hips. "Poke-balls are a recent invention, you see. Throw one of them at a Pokemon, and… why, the Pokemon will shrink down and fit inside the ball, comfy as can be. And with that, you've caught a Pokemon!"
By the end of Laventon's eager lesson, Izuku is panicking inside, 'he said that the poke-balls are a recent invention?!? Am I in the past?!' Izuku takes a deep breath to calm himself down and looks at the professor.
"Is that it professor?" Izuku questions.
"Yeah, that's all my boy, I'd be really grateful if you could catch my three runaways for me." Izuku nods as laventon crosses his arms and looks deep in thought, "Now the proper technique is to take aim at the Pokemon, then let the ball fly- it's quite simple!" he frowns, "though far be it from me to say so, I suppose given my own dire lack of skill in this area." he looks at the ground.
Izuku looks at him for a moment, before nodding to himself and smiling at Laventon, "don't w-worry professor, I'll c-catch them for you!" he states resolutely, causing the professor to smile at him.
Slowly he walks up to Cyndaquil, holding the poke-ball up, he hucks it forward. It bounces harmlessly off the Pokemon before opening and sucking it in, he holds his breath as the ball shakes before a small firework shoots out. He tries not to flinch at it (Why. Why do the explosions follow him?!?).
"Great job, my boy!" Laventon yells out, causing Izuku to blush in embarrassment.
Breathing deeply to cool his nerves he repeats the process with Oshawott, before slowly making his way to Rowlet, reeling back he throws the ball and hits the Pokemon on the back, it shakes…
Once,
Twice,
Thre- the ball snaps in half at the joint releasing the Pokemon, Izuku jumps back half a step in surprise.
"Professor! The b-ball broke!" he yells out, not taking his eyes off the bird.
"That tends to happen, my boy!" Laventon yells back.
Izuku gulps, stealing his nerves as the Rowlet stares at him, breathing in, he gently tosses the ball at the Rowlet, successfully catching it this time. He makes his way back to the Professor and hands him all the poke-balls back, including the ones with pokemon-
"No, my boy it's alright to keep the empty ones. I have more in my lab." he waves his hand after putting the three poke-balls in his pocket, "and say, you've got a real knack for catching Pokemon."
"O-oh… thank you Professor." he whispers before freezing up as his hair gets ruffled.
"No problem, now one can't help but think there's a reason you appeared here and now…" he hums, Izuku scratches his chin before pulling out the Arc phone and showing him.
Laventon squints as he reads,
" 'I bestow upon thee
With chaos of three
An Arc to hold thine quest' "
He pauses.
" 'Seek out all Pokemon' "
"What is this, if I may ask?" he quizzes.
"An Arc phone…"
"And 'Ark phone' you say? What an odd device. Could it be… guiding you somehow?" the Professor mutters to himself, before humming and looking back at Izuku, "if you'll indulge me for a moment. You see, I have a dream- to compile this region's first complete record of it's Pokemon! We in the field call such a catalogue a Pokedex."
Izuku's sparkle and he blurts out without thinking, "let me help!" stunning both of them for a second before Izuku's face flushes red from embarrassment, but the Professor laughs heartily.
"Of course, my boy!" he smiles brightly, "we just need to get you on the exhibition team which shouldn't be too hard." he laughs before patting Izuku on the back, "we should get to the village." Izuku nods silently, but just as he's about to follow something catches his eye.
Looking up he sees a large glowing crack in the sky above the tallest peak of the mountain. A storm brewed around the crack, golden-blue lighting crackling around every-so often. Looking worriedly upon it, Izuku decides to worry about it later and scurries off after the Professor
Walking up to a large gate that had two people standing on either side of it, wearing the same uniform made up of straw hats and red uniforms with orange-yellow accents. one has an orange otter-like pokemon. The Professor stops for a moment, "Thank you for your tireless work keeping us safe, my good guardsmen!" He thanked them, "This young man was of great assistance to me and my Pokemon, so I hope you'll forgive my bringing him into the village for a bit." he gestures to Izuku. The guard thinks for a moment before nodding them in, Laventon smiles and continues on, Izuku following after him.
Izuku pauses when they reach past the gate because…. Wow, this is a really pretty village. It's nothing like the concrete and metal buildings he's used to, there's children running around carefree, adults chatting or watching their kids run around.
Laventon pauses before turning around and smiling at Izuku, "This way, if you please!" Before continuing on his way down the main path, once Izuku starts following him again he starts explaining where they are, "Jubilife Village! It's come a long way thanks to the fine people of the Galaxy Expedition Team!"
His sunny attitude is almost enough to block out all the whispering going on in the background… almost.
"Who are they?"
"What strange clothes."
"Where did they come from?"
"I've never seen that child here before…"
Izuku shakes his head and focuses on the Professor, "This road we're on now is known to the locals as Canala Avenue."
He pauses in speech for a moment thinking of what to say next, "The village was built scarcely two years ago… There's much to do yet not many do it.", Izuku hums to show he's listening, "And since we know so little of the local Pokemon, people hesitate to set foot outside the village."
Looking up, Izuku is surprised at the massive building before them, "Now, that impressive building up ahead of us is the Galaxy Hall- headquarters for this entire outfit!" Laventon says happily."
"Oh botheration! I'd almost forgotten!" Izuku startles at the sudden exclamation. The Professor turns around quickly, "I need to go and report that we successfully recovered the escaped Pokemon! Might I ask for you to wait for me at the canteen?"
"O-oh alright…" Izuku mutters out in a little downtrodden voice.
Laventon smiles reassuringly, "thank you my boy, I won't take long. Now the canteen is just past this bridge here, then to the left. The Wallflower it's called!" he nods encouragingly before scurrying off to the headquarters.
He startles once more when the Arc phone rings, he quickly pulls it out, trying to ignore all the strange glances he's getting. On the device what seems to be a map of the village has appeared, with a symbol showing him where to go next.
Staring at it for a moment before putting it away he walks to where the symbol showed. Walking over the bridge he makes his way to the Wallflower. When he gets there he sees an old man standing outside the building, the old man turns to him furrowing his brows and scratching at his green and gray scruffy beard.
"Well now, aren't you awfully suspicious?" he mutters, Izuku frowns a bit, "The Wallflower's for Galaxy folk only. We don't have seats for outsiders. Move along!" he orders, startling Izuku when he enters the medium sized building and slams the door shut, Izuku frowns a bit and looks at the ground trying to calm his nerves so he doesn't cry shivering slightly from the wind.
He trunks slightly when he hears someone walking up to him, "who are you? I've never seen anyone dressed like you are." a girl around Izuku's age asks.
Izuku looks at her, she has long hair and gray hazel eyes, and wears a nice warm looking uniform consisting of a puffy jacket, red scarf, skirt with leggings underneath, and large boot-like footwear, and a small bag tied around her waist. She looks him up and down, "What if you were attacked by a Pokemon? You'd be minced meat in those flimsy clothes!" she exclaims, causing him to flinch.
She thinks for a moment, "but if the guard let you through, you must have ties with someone in the village…" she waits for him to respond.
Izuku nods hesitantly, not trusting his voice at the moment.
"Perhaps you've met Professor Laventon? He's a scholar from a faraway place. His Pokemon do get away from him at times, though. It makes me a bit worried for him…" she frowns and looks at the ground between them, "I suppose I'm hardly one to talk- I've had some trouble with Pokemon myself. I was hit by a Pokemon move called Thunder Shock not long ago and had to take to my bed." she pauses in thought, "But the Professor… well… I do wonder how long He'll last."
"Unfortunately it's just as Akari says… I'm a clumsy sort of fellow, to put it mildly!"
The now named Akari gives a brief shriek of surprise before turning to face the Professor, Izuku only startled a bit.
"Professor!?" She exclaims.
"But everything will be quite all right now! Izuku here has agreed to help us with our pokedex!"
Akari frowns, "Excuse me? You plan to appoint him to the Survey Corps?" she grumbles out, "You can't just slap a badge on whoever you like without Captain Cyllene's permission!"
"I'll allow it."
All three turn to look at the stern looking woman as she walks up, she wears the same get-up as Akari but more fit for office work and with gray accents, and her hair brushed to the right side and spiked up a bit and in blueish-gray color.
"Captain Cyllene?!" Akari shouts, making Izuku wince.
"Assuming the individual can contribute to the Survey Corps, that is." she says in a flat tone, "I am the captain of the Galaxy Team's Survey Corps. You may call me Cyllene." she folds her arms behind her back, standing at attention.
"Professor Laventon has told me how you helped secure his Pokemon when they slipped his control. And now it seems he would like for us to feed and house you in exchange for your ongoing labour." she looks at him closely "Hmm. You look about fifteen (15) or so."
'I mean I guess that's close enough' Izuku thinks to himself.
"Quite old enough to work for your keep. But we can't simply take on a stranger who wanders among us, without any idea of their skills or origins." she closes her eyes in thought, before looking back at him and gesturing with one arm, "Tomorrow we shall see if you can prove yourself worthy."
Laventon smiles at the commander, "Oho! A most reasonable decision, Captain. Now, would you care to join us for a meal? I'm sure you've got plenty of questions for our visitor!"
"That's quite alright, I prefer to eat alone so I might appreciate my meals without distraction." she nods briefly before walking past and going into the Wallflower.
"Aloof as always, I see." Laventon chuckles.
Before turning to the two teens, "Well, no matter! The rest of us can share a meal and some pleasant conversation, then, eh?" he smiles.
Izuku nods silently and Akari nods enthusiastically with a small 'yeah!',
"Beni, old chum! The usual potato mochi, if you will please- but make it for three today!" he shouts to the building.
Eventually after all three were seated and Beni was placing the last plate on the table, "Wonderful stuff, Beni! Much obliged. Your potato mochi never fails to please!"
Izuku had to agree with that statement, it is really good. Beni nods happily at the Professor's comment before he takes his leave.
"Say, Professor Laventon, where exactly did you meet our… visitor here?" Akari asks.
Laventon scratches his chin, "Ah, well, you know of that great hole in the sky? That one people call the space-time rift?" he questions, "Our new friend fell right out of it!"
"You can't be serious." she grumbled.
The Professor nods with a serious face, "Come now- I am a scientist! My job is to observe and explain any and all phenomena. I concern myself with only facts!" he huffs, before looking at them both, "Now, you already know there are many Pokemon here in the Hisui region…"
"That there are- in the grass, in the forests, by water, or wherever they like." Akari responds, "And our job as the Survey Corps is to research them and find out what kind of creatures they are!"
Laventon's expression becomes serious, "Well, we know this much… Pokemon are terrifying creatures! It's all but impossible to know what kinds of powers they might possess or what sorts of wondrous things they can do!"
Izuku nods along to this because, while he would like to deny those statements, he knows that they are all true. Even if it hurts to admit it a little.
He smiles, "And that's where Izuku will come in" he states, shocking Izuku with how confident he sounds about it, "He successfully caught three Pokemon! Three of them in quick order, you understand! Nobody in the Galaxy Team is capable of a feat such as that. This means we can finally begin our Pokemon research in earnest!"
Izuku blanks for a moment, was it really that hard to catch Pokemon? Sure in his time people say it's very easy, and that the Pokemon hardly fight back. Maybe the Pokemon are more aggressive here?
Even Akari looks shocked, "Three?! We have a hard enough time catching even one when wild Pokemon come after us…"
"Ah, well, to be perfectly fair, the Pokemon that fled to the beach weren't on the attack. But the key to catching Pokemon is getting close enough to aim your Poke-ball well. And it seems our new friend is fearless enough to do just that!" he exclaims, Akari has stars in her eyes from excitement.
'I'd hardly call myself fearless,' he thinks as he drinks his tea nervously.
"Does the Survey Corps really have the leeway to be enjoying a leisurely meal with this outsider?" Izuku almost chokes at Beni's random appearance, "Your captain just ordered ten (10) whole portions of potato mochi, you know. The slow progress on that Pokedex of yours clearly has put her on edge." he says worryingly.
Laventon reassures the poor man, "I'm sure we'll start to rein in the good captain's stress eating soon enough. Now, have your fill, Izuku! And think! If you make it into the Galaxy Team, you'll never have to worry about a meal again. The team provides for all it's member's needs- even if said member fell out of the sky!"
Now… Izuku didn't mind the sound of that, he'll worry about his problems later, but a good meal, and not having to worry about his bullies or how much he'll have to run to be able to eat at lunch sounds really good right about now.
And so, all three dig in.
They stand a little ways away from the Wallflower.
"That was quite delicious! Quite delicious indeed!" Laventon announces.
"Yes, the food was lovely. But more importantly… you do remember that Izuku has a trial to pass to join the Survey Corps, don't you?" Akari quizzed.
"Not to worry! I have complete confidence in Izuku's skills." he grins, as Izuku sweats.
'Well I don't', Izuku thinks.
The door to the Wallflower opens as Cyllene walks out, closing the door behind herself, "well let's hope it's not misplaced." she stands with them, " 'Izuku', isn't it? For tonight, at least, we will provide you with a place to sleep. You may use our quarters there." she nods behind him, gesturing to the house, a small wooden hut big enough for one person to live in with a blue shingled slanted roof.
"But if you fail to pass the trial we put to you tomorrow, you must move on. You will be expelled from the village to meet your fate- perhaps your death- in the wilds."
Izuku suddenly feels like crying again, huh.
She walks off back to the main quarters of the Galaxy team, both Akari and Izuku staring in shock at ehr little speech.
"Captain Cyllene Is somewhat like Hisui, in that they're both quite harsh." Akari comments.
"Now now, she simply puts on a stern front to help keep us all safe." Laventon huffs in amusement, "At any rate, I think it's time we tuned in for the night, eh? It's a good thing one can't fall out of the futons we sleep in here- I imagine our new friend has had enough falling for one day!" he jokes, causing Akari to snicker, and Izuku to turn beat red.
"And with that I bid you goodnight!" He smiles tiredly, before walking off.
"G-goodnight Professor."
"Yes, goodnight…" she says before looking up at the rift in the sky, "A rift in the sky… People falling from it… the world is full of mysteries." before making her way to her own quarters, leaving Izuku alone to make his way to his own.
Walking into his new quarters, he looks around after taking his shoes off, it's rather homey he decides, he likes it. Sparing a look around the area his futon is, a few empty jars on the large window sill, a mirror, a couple boxes and a foldable barrier wall, before laying down and promptly falling asleep.
Half-way through the night he was startled awake to what sounded like a thousand storms coagulating together, he looked out the window just in time to see a ginormous bolt of blue and gold lightning hit somewhere in the distance, he panicked from it (the sound of explosions grated on his ears… but the light reminded him of his fathers pokemon).
It took awhile to calm down, but eventually he did enough to get some more sleep.
When Izuku woke up the next morning, he had a brief almost panic attack because he woke up in a random house, but, then all off what happened the day before came back to him and he calmed down significantly, getting up he stretched and tried to do all his morning activities to relieve his stress for the upcoming day.
Knock Knock*
"Good morning, Izuku. Are you up? Quite some lightning last night, wasn't it? Today's the day of your trial. So, er… let's give it our all!" Akari's voice filtered through the door.
"Y-yeah, give me a minute, Akari!" he yelled back.
"Alright!" was her response.
He left the sleeping area and walked to the entrance, putting his shoes on before leaving his living quarters.
Walking out he was met with Akari who was resting her hands on her hips, "What lovely weather we've got!" she cheered, before looking at him, "I hope you had a nice sleep, even if this land is strange and new to you."
"I-it was alright… the lightning woke me up though." he mumbled.
"Yeah it woke me up too, but! I did fall asleep again so I'm alright, but enough of that, let's get to headquarters. Captain Cyllene is waiting." she replied, and started walking towards the headquarters with Izuku following nervously behind.
Once they got in Akari stopped in the middle of a large room that had hallways on either side with a dozen door frames leading to other rooms, turning around and she spoke to him.
"The Survey Corps' offices are here on the first flo-"
"Don't give up! Keep those eyes open!" someone yelled from one of the rooms off to the side.
"The wild Pokemon, they… they were everywhere. Attacking from all sides… I sent out my partner Pokemon, but… against a whole pack… Outnumbered…" another cried out weakly.
"This is what happens when you go so far afield! But the Medical Corps will put you to rights." the first muttered scholdingly.
Akari shook her head worriedly when Izuku looked at her, "That man's with the Security Corps… and even with his own partner, he took a beating from wild Pokemon."
Izuku looked worriedly at the medical bay, "W-will he be okay?" he asked quietly.
"Yeah… he should be alright in a few days," she nods faintly before her expression becomes more stern, "but without a partner Pokemon of your own, you k=might find this trial particularly trying."
Izuku gulps, 'how will I get one?'
Akari turns and walks to a large doorway that looks like a large office with a desk by the window, stacks of paperwork and scrolls lay upon it, and in its seat rests Captain Cyllene.
She stands at the doorway, "Captain Cyllene? Izuku is here."
Cyllene looks up from her paperwork, studies the two, "You may enter.", she rises from her chair and meets them in the middle of the large room, "Let's get straight to it. If you wish to join the Galaxy Expedition team, prove yourself capable by going out into the Obsidian Fieldlands and catching three different species of Pokemon: Bidoof, Starly, and Shinx."
Akari looked shocked, "Catching three Pokemon from the start? No one on the Galaxy Team has ever managed that…"
Izuku was about to say he did that yesterday when Cyllene beat him to it, "Did this stanger not catch three different Pokemon yesterday?" she hums, "My trial should be simple enough for him- if the professor wasn't exaggerating things, that is."
With a huff she turns to Izuku, "The Galaxy Team does not have the means to provide for those who only take without giving. If you wish to stay, you must prove beyond any doubt that you'll be an asset to our cause."
Izuku sweat drops, but nods nervously as she continues, "I will lend you one of our Survey Corps satchels to carry whatever you may need in the field."
After putting on the satchel (it reminds him of his backpack and it's gaudy yellow coloring.)
Akari shakes her head causing Izuku to look at her, "That satchel doesn't exactly match your, er, mode of dress…"
"Yeah…" he mumbles weakly.
"Akari…"
"Yes ma'am?"
"I expect you to step in if anything goes awry."
Akari nods in understanding.
A small buzz comes from his pocket but they don't seem to hear it so he ignores it for now.
The three of them turn to face another door off to the side as Professor Laventon walks into the room.
"Pardon, Izuku! Come with me a moment!" he asks.
"A-alright, Professor." he nods before following the professor out of the office and into the main hall.
"Now then, a jolly good morning to everyone!" he chimes
"Is something the matter, Professor Laventon?" Akari quizzes.
Laventon takes a deep breath, setting Izuku's nerves on fire, "In order to complete our Pokedex and, well, simply survive in this unforgiving land… Izuku absolutely must pass this trial!" he turns and smiles at the both of them, Izuku nervously smiles back.
"And as a professor of Pokemon, I've got just the ticket to help accomplish that!" he quips before releasing the three Pokemon Izuku helped catch in front of him.
The three of them cry out upon being released from the Poke-balls.
"Go on, Izuku! Pick the Pokemon that strikes your fancy!" the Professor exclaimed, "With a partner of your own, you'll be able to fight off wild Pokemon outside the village! These little darlings are very dear to me… but it's plain to see they're rather curious about you!"
Izuku breathed out harshly. He got to pick out a starter? Him. they- he… he feels his eyes start to sting, blinking rapidly to make the tears go away he looks down at the three Pokemon before him.
Oshawatt, the water type.
Rowlet, the grass type.
And Cyndaquil, the fire type.
They all come from different regions, and all have different personalities. The Oshawott keeps shifting from foot to foot, the Rowlet looks indifferent, and the Cyndaquil… it looks like it wants to run away and hide, not used to the attention, the flames on its back flicker anxiously, sometimes growing sometimes shrinking, as if it's a nervous habit. He feels… connected to it that way, he's always loved fire types (his dad had trained fire types when he was around), his mom had a Fire starter, a Delphox, he loves all his moms Pokemon, but he likes Delphox more… so.
"Well, my boy? Which Pokemon would you like to keep as your very own?"
Izuku looks at the Professor before he slowly walks up to the Cyndaquil and silently sits in front of them, he reaches a hand out and holds it there letting them come to him. The Cyndaquil inches forward nervously before sniffing his hand, it makes a little chittering sound before it rubs its head against his hand.
"Do you want Cyndaquil as your first partner?" Laventon questions.
He looks up at the Professor and nods, "Y-yes professor."
The professor hands him Cyndaquils Poke-ball, "And with that, one of the Pokemon you caught at Prelude Beach for me will now be yours to keep!"
"And a word of advice, my boy- pay close attention to which Poke-balls are empty and which ones contain a Pokemon when you're out in the field!"
Krooo kooo!
Plaash!
The Pokemon cry out to Cyndaquil resting by Izuku's feet.
"They look as if they are cheering on their friend Cyndaquil." Akari comments, "Or perhaps they're jealous that it gets to help you with your trial!" she jokes.
Izuku smiles down at the Pokemon he nods to himself, it doesn't matter if they are jealous, he'll make sure Cyndaquil can come play with their friends as often as he can.
The Professor hums, "That could well be… They did go dashing from the village when Izuku fell out of the sky, after all," clapping his hands together, "Well, not to worry, you two! I'll have you assist me with my research for now!" He smiles down at the Pokemon.
Krooo!
Plaash!
Laventon turns back to Izuku, "By the way, what species has Captain Cyllene charged you with catching?"
"She's uh- she's making me catch Bidoof, Starly, and Shinx.."
"Well that's smashing! All three of those species can be found in the Obsidian Fieldlands!" he grins, "Let me give you some Poke-balls to use during your trial, then." Laventon gives Izuku a few Poke-balls, which he struggles to put in his pouch on his back.
"These Poke-balls may be handcrafted, but they work a treat, as you've already seen! You'll have this trail cleared in no time!" He gives two thumbs up.
Izuku glances at Akari as she opens her mouth to speak, "I guess you're finally ready, you'll leave the village for your trial. Turn left after you exit the headquarters, then head for the gate."
Izuku nods, "a-alright… I'll try to get back soon."
Both Akari and Laventon smile, "I'm sure you'll do great, my boy"
Izuku turns and walks out of the headquarters with his Cyndaquil at his side, humming to himself to calm his nerves as he makes it to the gate. Akari walked beside him before booking it to the gate.
As he gets there he sees Akari speaking to a man in a travelers get up, the blond haired man turns to Izuku and… he can't help but shiver under his gaze.
"Oh? What a curious getup you have there. I can already tell you're quite the character!" the man smiles, "I'm Volo of the Gink Guild, the go-to choice for any of your mercantile needs here in Hisui!"
Volo hums, "I've heard talk about you. Fell from the sky, didn't you? Now that's certainly a tale I'd like to hear.." he looks down at Cyndaquil, before looking surprised, "Oh and you've a Pokemon! You're certainly full of interesting surprises…"
Izuku felt uncertain of how to interact with Volo, it felt like he was being watched by something else near him.
Volo continues unperturbed, "Investigating the odd and novel is key to any good merchant's success! So what do you say?"
Izuku looks at him nervously, "How about you and I see our Pokemon stand up to one another in battle?" Volo asks.
Izuku looks down at Cyndaquil, who looks back up at him… Izuku quirks an eyebrow, and Cyndaquil nods.
"S-sure." he responds.
Volo grins, "I like you better and better! What a delightful find!", he shifts onto his heels, "I've also heard of this trial you're to attempt. Let's have a quick battle to get your blood pumping before you head out! Though I hope you know you'll lose if your Pokemon's HP reaches zero!"
Akari backs up to watch with the guards that are stationed nearby as Volo fixes his cap and grins, "Here we go!" He throws a Poke-ball up releasing a small egg like Pokemon with red and blue triangles decorating its shell, with small, stubby arms and legs sticking out, and a pointed head also out of the shell.
'Oh a Togepi!'
Cyndaquil hops out to meet the Togepi in battle.
"Cyndaquil, I-I don't know your moves at this moment. So I can only c-cheer you on!" he smiles as Cyndaquil nods.
Quickly Cyndaquil shifts its weight and launches itself forward at a fast pace ramming its body into the Togepi's. Izuku winces a bit as the Togepi stumbles from the attack.
'Oh Quick attack! That's a good starting move.' he smiles.
Volo grins, "Togepi use tackle!"
Izuku quickly looks at Cyndaquil, "dodge!"
Luckily just in time Cyndaquil dodges by a hair width away causing the poor Togepi to stumble, "Use quick attack!" he shouts.
Cyndaquil swiftly knocks the Togepi back towards its trainer, "Tackle, again!"
This time the tackle hits, making Cyndaquil stagger a bit, but shaking it's head it gets up and ready to go for more.
Izuku smiles more, looking at the Togepi he sees how it staggers and looks like its about to faint, "one more Quick attack!"
Cyndaquil nods and hops back once before charging head on to the Togepi, with a loud crack the Togepi faints.
The battle is decided.
Volo calls back Togepi, gently shaking his head, "Moves, items… use them well, and the world will open up to you."
Cyndaquil runs up to Izuku who kneels down to congratulate them. Volo walks up to the happy trainer and Pokemon, "It's always good fun to have your Pokemon do battle, don't you think? And as they gain experience through battle, they'll learn more moves and grow even stronger!"
Volo sighs, "But so few people here have their own Pokemon. If only more people knew how to use Pokeballs! At any rate, let me help our two battlers recover from their little exercise." He kneels down and pulls out a bottle of purple liquid before slowly pouring it onto Cyndaquil, Izuku watches as the small scrapes and marks on Cyndaquil fade away.
"O-oh, is that a potion?" he asks.
"Yes." Volo responds.
Volo huffs as he stands up and pats the dirt and dust off his knees, Izuku following spoon after carrying Cyndaquil.
"And to you my sky-fallen friend, I present you some potions of your own." Volo hands Izuku a small sack that clinks as it moves. "Use them whenever your Pokemon is worn out from battle, I'll be hoping that you're successful on that trial of yours."
Volo grins, "More Galaxy Team members means more customers for yours truly, after all!" Volo waves as he walks off somewhere.
Izuku shivers a little, the feeling of being watched leaves with Volo… he… doesn't like it, the feeling reminds him of middle school. With a hesitant intake of oxygen Izuku turns to Akari who was watching from a distance.
"That's really something! Not only can you catch Pokemon- You can lead them in battle!" she smiles.
Izuku hesitantly smiles back, with Cyndaquil letting out a nervous chirp.
She pumps her hand, "Now, to the Obsidian Fieldlands!"
