I think I should say this now, this is an OP MC fic. Treat it appropriately. He'll still loose fights and such, so it's not that bad.
I'll start replying to reviews now, so comment as you like!
ScaredKoopa: Yeah. Well, I didn't originally plan on putting either in the harem because of my fear of how it would be received but if yall want it then I'm more than happy to deliver.
Fire Turtle: Firstly, I'm not spoiling what's going to happen with Chara but she'll stay relevant far past Arc 1 (AKA: Undertale). Secondly, remember the principals of the UNDERGROUND and the power of the SOUL of determination and you'll know that he isn't gone. Sadly, no Chara scenes this chapter but their relationship will start to build from the next one onward!
I walk up to the little shack, a small and cute dog face carved into the top and a bell on the desk. A few meters away I can see... smoked dog treats? Oh- Oh yeah, this is where you fight Doggo and learn about blue attacks! And indeed it is, I find out as a furry, canine head pokes out of the station, sniffing the air. Shifty eyes regard the area and a cigar (read; smoking dog treat) hangs out of the humanoid dogs mouth. "Did something move? Was it my imagination?" It's gruff voice, earned through years of 'smoking' questions.
"I can only see moving things..." It continues as a screen appears in my vision.
Challenge and beat Doggo in a fight!
Reward:
-3 Skill Points-
-15 Stat points to be attributed to your liking-
Oh?! I can see the quest beforehand now... Interesting. I already have two skill points and now I'll have five, -well, if I beat him- so I can get 'Simple Domain', the continuation on the 'Cursed Energy: Infusion' and The Ten Shadows technique, a Cursed Technique that lays beyond Cursed Speech. Also, I'll get 'Cursed Energy: Discharge' because it lays between infusion and simple domain.
I refocus on Doggo and apologize mentally to the hound-man. "Hey, I'm right here." I say and get into a stance that I've crafted while training. It's not the stance of any fighting style, I just have one hand in front of the other and my feet stable on the ground, nothing special but enough to be more effective than nothing.
The monster turns to me and barks out, "A human?! I can sense it! I must eliminate... eliminate you!" It jumps from it's post and throws three blue knives at me. I flinch but trust my knowledge and stay still. The knives pass through me and I only feel a slight shiver. What I gathered from that is that I can move slightly and not trigger any damage.
I smirk, in the game, this fight consists of only blue attacks, so I think I can go about this pretty easily. But I don't want to hurt this guy much... I sigh and run towards him. A pain in my right thigh stops my approach and I stop immediately, two more knives flying through me. I was stabbed... it hurts like hell. I cringe at the pain and grit my teeth but I fight through the pain and continue running, focusing cursed energy into my leg and hoping it heals it somehow. I feel it stop the bleeding but not much more.
I dodge the next set of knives and run up behind the dog, chopping it in the neck. I hope that monster anatomy is similar to a humans. It turns out it is and I was able to end the fight peacefully as the dog falls to the ground, unconscious. God, I'm so glad I don't need emotions to draw out my cursed energy, like normal Jujutsu sorcerers have to but rather having my game take care of that. It's something I thought of when training, I remembered when Gojo trained Yuji after the vessel woke up from death after a deal with Sukuna and told him about how sorcerers need negative emotions to use Jujutsu.
I see that I completed the quest and put my points into the stats that where left behind by my LV. Those being VIT and DEF. The points are put into the skills I mentioned before and I advance the appropriate branches on the skill tree.
[Cursed Energy: Discharge] Level 1/100
This is the art of using ones Cursed Energy as a blasting force and expelling it.
[Simple Domain] Level 1/100
This technique erects a barrier around oneself to protect from the effects of a domain. Though, through magic and the game, this has adapted to be appliable to AOE and permanent effects that are cast by an opponent.
[The Ten Shadows Technique] Level 1/100
This technique, unique to the Zenin Clan, uses shadows as a medium to summon a set of ten Shikigami. At first, the user starts with the Devine Demon Dogs and their fusion. To unlock all other Shikigami, the user has to defeat them in a ritual consisting of a fight to the death. Nobody can interfere and no outside means can be used to tame a Shikigami like this but the user can involve another in the ritual but this invalidates the taming and nullifies any reward. Also, shadows can be somewhat controlled with this technique and a shadow storage dimension is crated for the user to access, even the user can store themselves in this dimension. If a users Shikigami dies, it dies permanently, though it's power can be absorbed by another.
Current tamed Shikigami:
The Devine Demon Dogs
I smile, seeing those new skills. While thinking about skills, I note that I can't create skills by myself, even if I do things like sneak or fight, I must use my skill tree. This also means that skills that don't fit the theme of a skill tree I've unlocked are out of my reach. Ah, but I must focus on my current set of abilities, not on what is out of reach.
I look at my stats and note how much my Cursed Energy reserves have increased, proud at the fruits of my labor. It's only been a week and I'm already so much more than a regular human...
CURSE: 8.900/8.900
I stretch myself and lay the unconscious dog back in his station.
I walked back to the area I trained at to test, and train after, my new skills. First, I try my discharge. Instead of gently infusing my Cursed Energy into the ground like I did with the Infusion, I rush the energy out in a violent burst. The open palmed hand I had stretched out towards the river recoils like I shot a gun and three streams of dark blue energy shoot out of the limb. They impact the other side of the river and leave craters twice the size of a basketball. Looking at my cursed energy, I only expelled about 500 points, it even trained the stat up to 8.950.
I try again and focus on only letting one stream out, thinking the last time, where I shot out three was because of lack of focus. It does as told and the blast shoots into the river bank a few feet away. The skill leveled a good bit, three levels and I smile. The technique is pretty strong.
I stand up more relaxed, dropping my 'stance' and try to activate my simple domain. The game gives me a nudge in the right direction, as it does with every skill, but it doesn't perform the skill all the way, it simply gives me the impression that I have to let my cursed energy out like a gas but make a barrier with my energy around myself to keep that energy inside. That way, no other energy can fill that area and enforce an effect.
There is no visible change but I can feel it working after I try a few times, most of my fails coming from failing the barrier.
I drop it for now but, looking at the negligible drain, I plan to keep it active for a while as training for both the skill and my reserves. I then grin, this next one is going to be awesome. I put one fist in front of me, upside-down and my other above it. Just a few words now and I'd condemn this entire world to death as long as I run away. After all, who could beat Mahogara here? Ah, but I'd die long before the Shikigami would reach the surface, or even the barrier.
Not that I'd do it, I just like challenging fate. You know, this is like when you stand on the edge of a cliff and experience 'the call of the void'. Nevertheless, I release that hand sign and perform another, my hands mimicking the face of a dog and the shadow cast by said hand seemingly quivering. From that shadow emerge two wolves. One white and one black. They're pretty cute actually, I pet the head of both of them, their fluffy fur making my hand feel comfortable. The white dog barks happily and the black one just nuzzles further into my palm. I know that one can sense Cursed Energy and the other just has a regular sense of smell but I hope that, just like my system has done for all other Cursed Energy related skills and powers, it has adapted to magical energies in general.
I test it and command the dog mentally to sense for any energies nearby. It does not react. Oh? So, I can't mentally command them? "Hey doggie, can you sense for any energies around?" I ask it and it barks in conformation. The next moment, I can feel a few sources of power around me. Even the ceiling is enchanted somehow...
I nod. "You guys can leave." I stretch my arms and legs as I think. I can probably tame a few of the weaker Shikigam-
Tame Shikigami!
You have been challenged to perform a Boss Rush! For each Shikigami you beat in a row, you get the following rewards:
One: -1 Skill point-
Two: -1 Skill point- -A cursed Tool-
Three: -2 Skill points-
Four: -A Skill-
Five: -3 Skill points- -A cursed Tool-
Six: -3 Skill points- -A skill-
Seven: -4 Skill points-
Eight: -4 Skill points- -A skill-
Nine: -5 Skill points- -2 Skills- -A cursed Tool- -A new Skill Tree Tab-
If you stop, the quest will vanish!
I look at the quest and think. I was sure I could beat most of them, the Ten Shadows Technique isn't really designed around the user having a lot of versatility and skills. They're supposed to only have physical strength, their domain and the Shikigami they've already tamed, so when I have three Cursed Techniques and magic, I think I could beat most of the Shikigami I know of from the show.
It's not like I would have to guess their strength, when I formed the hand sign for the demon dogs, all their data was blasted into my mind. The same went for Mahogara and I must say, that thing is a beast. It's base strength is incredible and it's adaptation even more so. Ah, but I mustn't get carried away. The only other thing I got blasted into my brain when receiving the skill was how to do each of the hand signs and so, I perform each of them but do not summon their corresponding Shikigami.
Hmm... It seems only the Ox can exceed my max speed after it charges for about a minute. The Tiger Funeral Shikigami, on the other hand was an unknown in the manga and it seems to be a regular tiger that can inflict plagues on things it touches. A weird ability but useful nonetheless. It's not like I think I can't beat it. It cant hide and prowl like a regular tiger, something that would be it's greatest strength, because I summon it in the open. I think... I think I can go up to eight but no higher, Mahogara would kill me instantly.
But I don't want to destroy my training spot, so I wander into the forest until I find a sufficient clearing. The walk was nice, at least. I wait for my Cursed Energy to recharge and then summon the Dogs. While I may know that I'm stronger than the Shikigami I plan to challenge, I still wont underestimate them. My hand comes together to form the rough shape of a bird and I call out calmly into the woods. "Nue."
Shadows pool a few feet in front of me and the next moment a red bird emerges and shoots into the sky. It's dressed with a white boney mask on it's face. "White, I'll ground it. You bite it's wing when it lands and you, Black, you get it's leg." I order the dogs and charge a good amount of energy to prepare a discharge. Electricity gathers around the bird and I, knowing what is about to happen, start running around in a circle. "Dogs, run around. It'll try and shoot you-" It does exactly that as I finish my sentence and the divine dogs only barely dodge the lightning that struck the ground where both they and I stood earlier.
I continue to run around, stretching my hand outwards toward the arial Shikigami and firing my attacks. in contrast to the explosion I expected, the shots simply pierce the bird and explode slightly behind it, launching it to the ground, where it is quickly mauled by the wolves. Huh, so the more energy I charge into an individual shot, the more distance and barriers it takes to explode it.
My three shots had pierced a hole clean through it's stomach, right wing and the left side of it's face. The few bites of my dogs where enough to finish it off. I see it melt into a newly formed shadow below and then that shadow rushes to melt with the natural one I cast myself. I feel another presence now, in addition to my dogs. I can feel the current status of Nue, it's regenerating with the use of my Cursed Energy, just like my Devine Demon Dogs can. Or so my new knowledge says.
I'm confused, don't I loose my Shikigami when they die? Why can it regenerate now? I'm very sure I killed it, nothing could be more dead than a beast with holes the size of a basketball through it's head and torso, so why is it returning to life now? Maybe I can replicate this to make my Shikigami immortal... something to ponder later. If I'm not stupid, nothing will endanger my Shadow Shikigami here, so I'll not have to worry about them for now.
Next is the Toad. I put each of my index fingers and thumbs onto each other while keeping my palms flat away from me. The toad is more a support unit, so I'll conserve my Energy because I think there is a time limit to how quick I need to do each ritual, otherwise I could just wait for weeks to get stronger and then continue the quest, something that the wording from the quest implies I couldn't do. So, I'll use my magic instead of my Cursed Energy for this one.
The Toad emerges from the shadow and tries to attack me but a shield I conjure up from my magic blocks the strike. The attack launches me back a good bit but I keep steady. I found out that I can't increase my magic reserves through training, only through raising my INT, so I wont even get to improve much from this.
Nonetheless, I charge forward and transform my shield to a sword and start firing flames with my other hand. Every second shot I charge, I don't fire but let hang above me in a half circle. The amphibian Shikigami tanks two of the fireballs but realizes the danger after they hit it hard and jumps out of the way of the third.
I knew that the toads jumps, along with it's tongue where it's strongest abilities and so, I baited it's jump. While it cannot move mid-air, I shoot the five flames I had charged up in a rapid fire burst, impacting the frog and charring it's skin. I'm not an apathetic asshole, so I can feel my soul cringe when I approach the toad lying down and cut off it's head in one swift motion.
My mana is at exactly one, so I let my sword fade. The shadow of the Toad retreats into my own and the process of the knowledge assimilation repeats. I take a deep breath. Sorry little froggy, I had to.
Next up, Great Serpent. Throughout the last fight, I didn't use Cursed Energy, it's why I didn't simply blitz the frog instantly, and so it's back up to full. I summon the frog and the demon dogs. "You guys stay behind. Froggy, if you see the chance, pull the serpents parts to yourself and let the dogs go to town." I order. They nod as they fully form out of the ground and go to the tree line.
Now, this one is actually a pretty useful Shikigami. It's just a shame that it got killed by Sukuna so fast. I shake my head, It'll serve me well enough. My ring and middle finger stiffen and I curve my index, creating the rough image of a snakes head. As if a great vine is growing at rapid speeds into the sky, the white snake with black face markings shoots into the sky. I blast it twice with my Discharge, it only scars it lightly. My eyes widen as I start to infuse my body with cursed energy, to strengthen it.
It proved useful as the tail of the snake slams into my torse, launching me into a nearby tree. My back hurts like all hell and I can feel my fragmented ribs. I can see the snakes mouth rush towards me but it's movement suddenly stops. It looks back at itself and I do too, seeing my frog pull it's lower parts towards itself, the divine demon dogs thrashing at the serpent.
I grit my teeth and fight through the pain, becoming more comfortable with it as my tolerance builds. "ACK!- fuckin' hell." I grimace in pain. I force the built of magic that had built up again into my mouth and, knowing I still have a surplus of Cursed Energy, activate my Cursed Speech. "Explode." It took 75% or my Cursed Energy- holy hell that's a lot- but the snakes head explodes just as I ordered. A shower of purple flesh and other gore rains down onto my other Shikigami, who stood in the distance.
It's shadow merges with mine and I'm thankful that the cursed energy I expelled to summon it- and yes it takes some to even initiate the ritual- returns. I'm back up to half and I dearly hope that's enough. Those are good rewards and I only have this chance to get 'em. So, I'll fight these until I drop. Well, as long as I at least have a chance at winning, I'm not delusional enough to fight Mahogara. Uh- fuck, what's next? I grab at my chest in pain. I gotta fix this first... I take out the spider cider I bought with Toriel and eat it.
I'm so very glad monster food heals humans. My rib is fixed but my back still hurts but I'm good to go, though another hit to my back like that will shatter my spine. My VIT and DEF is pretty low after all. God, I'm such a glass cannon. I chuckle at that thought, I wanted to avoid exactly that. I'll level up my defensive stats after this, I know I can train them and a good workout routine will do that, as much as I miss the dedication to start something like that, this occasion gave me enough of a cause.
Ah, I'm ready now. I look at my Shikigami, they're not useful for the next ritual. But the Serpent is, with it's size... I dismiss the other three to negate the constant drain they but on me to keep them up. Yeah, even just having them out has a drain, as negligible as it is. My hand performs the necessary hand seal and a shadow stretches outwards from my position. A pink elephant rises out of it, the normal size of an African elephant. Not that that's small or anything. The ends of it's ears have a red tint and gold sigils and markings run along it's joints and on it's forehead.
It's mouth bloats with water and I ready myself, my legs filled with the supernatural energy as I prepare to jump away. I let that energy fade as I get an idea. I activate my cursed speech and wait for a moment. As soon as it stretches it's trunk towards my direction I speak. "Don't move." I let my cursed speech fade and rush at the Shikigami. It had stopped it's attack and is visibly panicking as it desperately tries to release the water. It's really struggling, I can feel it in the drain that it is putting on my reserves.
I reach it, look at my reserves and confirm I have enough time, and then lay my hand on the cheek where it's charging water. "Discharge." I didn't need to say it but I want to feel cool, god damnit. Together with the built-up water pressure, it's entire head explodes in a shower of water, blood and brain matter. Though all of that fades into shadow as the Shikigami get's absorbed into myself.
And that's why the saying brains over brawns exists.
Even when it's regarding my own brain and brawns, I just used my own cunning to preserve my power.
The next one was... ah- Rabbit Escape. Four left, then it's only Mahogara and he's a matter for a lot later. I lay the top of both my hands on top of each other and hook both my index fingers, curling the rest of the fingers on my upside-down hand. I focus... I know that there is one original bunny that the others use as a blueprint to copy themselves off of. Other than a difference in Cursed Energy, they'll be indistinguishable. No matter, I've noticed that I can sense the amount of my own Shikigami pretty well, even when I've not yet tamed them, so I'll get this done quickly. I hope.
I really hope.
This could end badly it I fuck up. Well, at least I just made up a back-up plan, I think as I summon Nue. The red feathered bird rose out of the ground and hovers slightly above my head, cawing twice. "Shock the bunnies." I summon the white demon dog too, the canine barking and wagging it's tail as I scratch behind it's ears. "You give feedback of the bunny with the most cursed energy to both me and Nue." It barks in affirmation and I hope that means it can actually do that.
I had dropped the Rabbit Escape hand sign to summon the others as I spontaneously got the idea but I retake that hand sign and summon the rabbits. For a moment, only one bunny rose out of the ground, it's nose twitched twice and then a tidal wave of rabbits explodes out of the ground. "Nue." The bird caws and a thunder strike shocks the torrent of fluffy bunnies.
I don't wanna hurt the rabbits :(
I laugh at my soft heart. "God, for a Jujutsu sorcerer, I sure am kind hearted." Not that I'm even actually a Jujutsu sorcerer but when only I have Cursed Energy here, I guess I can decide if I'm one or not.
White- I'll need to give them names- barks and I suddenly know exactly where the Rabbit I need is. I use the best, quickest and most effective method I can think of to deal with it, really, it's the only one I can use because the original is hiding in the middle of that storm of white fluffiness and I couldn't kill it fast enough before they start moving again otherwise. "Explode." Because I'm only targeting the original bunny and because it's not really strong by itself, it costs almost nothing to kill it.
My throat seemingly becomes a desert nonetheless and I cough, I've overused Cursed Speech. The bunnies that where copies burst into smoke like fuckin' shadow clones while the real one crashes to the ground and dissolves into shadow. A shadow that merges with mine. Man, this could've ended badly if I'd let them multiply more.
I look at my cursed energy reserves.
3.200/9.250
Damn, I'm low as hell. This boss rush is really fuckin' me up. But I've only gotten these powers a week ago, I'd say I'm pretty strong. Megumi needed a few years to even tame half these Shikigami, so I'm actually pretty proud of myself.
Ah, my ego is growing too big, gotta fix that. Anyways, which ones next again? Ah, Round Deer, I remember now. It can heal itself and make people lose grip- metaphorically that is- on cursed objects with it's positive aura, whatever that means. Good thing I don't have one of those on hand. It's reverse cursed technique is problematic though... I'll go with a similar approach to what they tried against Mahogara in the manga when Sukuna summoned it, one overpowering insta-kill strike.
If that doesn't work, then I'll just exhaust it. What's my strongest move... Cursed Speech comes to mind immediately but I remember my dry and stinging throat and leave that idea out of mind. Out of the same spot that all the others have appeared from, the repetitiveness has been getting on my nerves, a deer double the height and girth of a normal man is summoned. It has a second set of eyes on it's forehead but otherwise, it's just a big deer.
And... it just stands there.
What?
I quirk an eyebrow. Why isn't it moving? Well, it's not really an offensive type Shikigami... I blast off two Discharges and they impact it's head and shoulder. But when the smoke clears, there remains no damage. The deer then roars, an ominous noise, before it starts charging at me, it's antlers primed to pierce my stomach. I know that I could probably tackle it back, holding it's movement but I'd get damaged too, so I don't take that deal for an opening and rather dodge the attack.
I twirl my body to the left and, as I stop I fire two of my Discharges. I slowly feel my throat heal but it's not good enough to deal with this guy. "Serpent." I summon the giant Serpent, as I think restraining the deer is best, so that I can behead it. If it's got no brain, then it can't even think about healing. The snake shoots out of the shadow behind me and wraps itself around the deer's stomach. "Tighten as much as you can, keep it's healing occupied." The deer groans and grunts in it's low voice as I approach it's neck. It senses me coming at starts to struggle harder. I summon a red sword, consuming most of the mana I had built back up again and swing down onto it's muscled neck.
My sword cuts in for a centimeter but, try as I might, I cannot cut further. I grunt in exertion. "God damn!" I let the sword dissipate. "Serpent, launch it into that tree over there." The snake nods at me, it's eyes wide as a normal snakes are, and it's twists itself a bit. It then whips the Deer into a tree, the forest animal getting stuck a bit inside the bark.
"Max Elephant." I call out as the deer get's itself out of the tree and stands in it's shadow, trying to heal itself. It is for naught, though, as I touch the shadow of the tree and channel cursed energy into it and summon the large pink Elephant drops down from above, crushing the Shikigami's head. A tremor rumbles the surrounding area, rubble and dust being kicked up by the heavy animals drop.
I feel the deer enter my shadow and I smile. I've got a healer now, an aspect I was missing for prolonged combat. I caught again, my back still hurts. "Hey doc." I summon the deer with the appropriate hand sign and touch it's side, it's fur comfortable and it's calm breathing relaxing me. "Thanks buddy and sorry for crushing you. You where a tough guy, though, so good job." I compliment it and it preens in the praise, raising it's head and presenting it's antlers to the sky. I chuckle and pat it again, de-summoning it after.
Two left. I take a few deep breaths to calm my heartbeat. The back of my hands touch again and, while I twist the top joints of my fingers down with one, I curl my index and thumb slightly with the other. "Serpent. Rabbit Escape. Nue." As the Ox appears from a shadow a bit in front of me, I summon a few other Shikigami. "The rabbits surround the area we'll fight it in, don't let it charge up. Nue, blast it from above and stop it's movement suddenly and Serpent, try to restrain it but don't go in if you think it's to much for you to handle." I order them as the appear behind me. It's awesome, I gotta say. Like my personal army behind me, rushing forward into battle.
The Ox finishes appearing and I see the rabbit's surround us in a ring. The Ox roars and starts to charge. I ready myself but I didn't need to worry as Nue shocked it, stopping it's charge for a moment, resetting it's damage multiplier. As long as I keep my eyes on this guy, I can dodge him, if he manages to charge. I shoot three blasts of Cursed Energy, air being displaced as they rush through the air. They impact the Ox and it roars in pain.
I smirk as I feel my throat, the deer did heal me completely. Now, this is a weird combo. Healing and Cursed Speech... Well, I'll take what I can get. Activating my markings, I take a deep breath. "Twist." I command, the neck of the bull doing as I said, twisting twice as a snap resounds throughout the area. Damn, I'm a pretty bad match-up for these guys.
And that's that. Man, Cursed Speech is strong. The bulls shadow retreats into mine and I chuckle, this was fun. Just one more...
Now, the hand sign for the Tiger Burial is a claw with another clawed hand on top, forming the mouth and eyes of a tiger. Out of the cast shadow steps a green furred and black striped tiger with black ribbons that fly into the air as if unaffected by gravity tied to each of it's ankles. I can't let it touch me, I'm not in the mood for a plague right now.
This'll hurt a lot but I just wanna end this, I'm exhausted as fuck and I can end this right now. "Rot." I hack and cough, spitting up blood as I fall to the ground. This shit hurts! I vaguely see the tigers body rot away, the skin peeling off, then the flesh and then only bone remains. It's shadow retreats into mine and I fall unconscious.
I awake with a comfortable feeling all over my body, though my throat still feels raw and my body feels stiff. I groan as I rise from the bedsheets covering me. W-Wait, why am I in a bed? My eyes shoot open as I survey my surroundings. I'm on a couch, a window behind me looking into a snowy street, monster children playing with the snow, and a TV opposite of the impromptu bed.
I see a stairway upwards to the right of the television and a kitchen room to it's left- Oh, I'm at the Skele-bro's house. Did they find me passed out? Nobody's here right now, not that I can feel anything... "White." I summon the white demon dog. "Anybody besides me in the house?" I ask it and it shakes it's head in denial. I rub it's ears a bit, the canines tail wagging at my pampering. I chuckle. "Thanks buddy. Off you go now." It then sinks into shadow again.
I then look back up to where a few system screens had been floating for a while now. Finally, my rewards.
For completing eight out of nine of the offered opponents, you have been rewarded with:
-18 Skill points- -2 Cursed Tools- -3 Skills-
[Perfect Combat Adaptability] Level 1/100
This skill is the ultimate jack of all traits fighting style, you can perfectly adapt to your opponents moves and this skill will provide you with the best responses instantly. These responses fall within your abilities, so reaction time, magical power and physical strength are accounted for.
[Pseudo-Heavenly Restriction] Level 1/100
Unlike the normal Heavenly Restriction, this one is toggleable. In exchange for access to your cursed energy, you can immensely increase your physical stats in relation to the amount of cursed energy sealed. While switching on the Restriction costs no time or energy, turning it off takes an hour of concentration.
[Beast Master] Level 1/100
The Beast Master skill allows for the user to temporarily assume control of any tamed animal companions.
[Hells Reaper]
A cursed tool that stores a Special Grade Cursed Spirit. It was born out of the fear of restriction and confinement and was able to summon and control chains to it's liking. If anyone is caught in said chains, a restriction can be set upon them. The strength and duration of said limitation is determined by the cursed energy input from the spirit. This Cursed Technique is accessible by the user when holding the scythe.
[Playful Cloud]
Playful Cloud is a three-section red staff that empowers the physical capabilities of it's holders while strengthening itself via a reversed way of the same manner. This does not create feed-back loop as the power given by the staff is limited and cannot be drawn out all at once.
I smirk as a scythe with a handle made of two pitch-black bones and a blade bound by thin chains at the top. Somehow, I still know that the edge of the blade will cut, even if chains stand in the way. I smirk and think of detaching the blade part of the weapon. It follows my will and the scythes metal blade falls out of it's socket while remaining attached via a chain. The bottom bone also retreats upwards into it's brother as I am left with a deadly ranged weapon. I let it, along with Playful Cloud that had appeared on my lap, fall into my shadow. They do not weigh much, so even while I still feel the weight of all that is stored in my pocket dimension, It's not unlike having them just strapped to me at all times.
While I was holding Hells Reaper, I immediately knew how to perform complex maneuvers and impressive acrobatic feats to quickly dispatch an opponent that I briefly imagined at the foot of my couch. So, there doesn't even need to be a real danger for the skill to work...
I shake all of that out of my thoughts, while the weapons and skills, especially my new status as an improved Heavenly Restriction bearer are cool and all, the massive amount of skill points I got are the real reward. I crack my neck and start shifting through the skill tree.
A few minutes later and I was left with one skill point and a shit load of power.
[Domain Expansion] Level 1/100
A domain expansion is the pinnacle of Jujutsu and serves as a perfection to ones Cursed Technique. Inside this domain, the Cursed Technique or a variation of it become a guaranteed hit and the user is buffed in all attributes. You can now perform domain expansions for any cursed technique you have over level 60.
[Boogie-Woogie] Level 1/100
Through clapping ones hands, the user can switch the place of two objects or beings either housing or imbued with Cursed Energy.
[Reversed Cursed Technique] Level 1/100
Through multiplying the negative aspects of Cursed Energy, a positive, reversed Cursed Energy is achieved. This energy can heal at a rapid pace.
[Blood Manipulation] Level 1/100
Blood Manipulation is the inherited technique of the Kamo family and is used to control the users own blood.
[Ratio Technique] Level 1/100
By drawing a line across a target and dividing said line into tenths, while using the seven-to-three ratio, the user forcibly creates weak spots.
[Star Rage] Level 1/100
By using Cursed Energy, the user can imbue virtual mass into their and their Shikigami's strikes. This mass does not affect the user or their Shikigami themselves but only the objects or people they interact with.
[Domain Amplification] Level 1/100
By coating themselves in a domain, the user can nullify any opposing Cursed Technique or Domain Expansion they come into contact with, that is weaker than themselves. The game has further upgraded this skill to include all supernatural powers, though when not targeting Cursed Techniques or Domain Expansions, it will cost more energy depending on how long the user comes into contact with the opposing ability and how strong the opponent is.
As other paths where grayed out permanently, a feature I found annoying myself, I advanced into both paths I unlocked at the beginning. I've reached the top of one of those paths, the Cursed Energy: Channeling path. It's both Domain Expansion and Amplification, both costing three skill points. Though there is still one more skill in that path, 'The Six-Eyes'. On the other side there is the infusion path, or the Cursed Technique path, where I just reached Star Rage and Blood Manipulation, very high tier Techniques. There now lay three more Cursed Techniques in front of me, 'Limitless', 'Shrine' and 'Cursed Spirit Manipulation', though I am skeptical about that last one. How would it work in world without Cursed Spirits?
I'm also confused on why my own Cursed Technique didn't trigger with the Shikigami. Is it because they weren't really a challenge as I could beat most of them easily? Something to think about later.
Now that I'm alone, I also start to think back on something. Should I be feeling guilty? About stealing the body and life of Frisk? Well... Well, I don't. Neither they nor I had control over that situation and I'm more a realist, so I'm not enough emotionally charged to cry and lament over this. But I think I want to respect their memory and keep their name for now, even if I have become really unused to using it. I just want to leave all of that behind but I think It'd be nice to honor their memory by keeping it for now. So, I'll bear with it.
I was sitting on the couch, playing with a ball of blood that I'd summoned to train the skill up a bit, when the door to the house flew open. I hear the tail end of a conversation as the voice of both Papyrus and Sans come into range. "-uzzles! Why are you like this?" The future Royal Guard waves his arms around as he berates his brother.
The shorter skeleton just shrugs. "I'm just bone tired, bro." His smile grows wider.
They finally notice me as both turn to walk to their rooms. "Ah! Human, you have awoken!" Papyrus proclaims as he struts towards me.
I rub the back of my head as I stand up from the couch, my bones creaking a bit. "Yeah- um- why am I here? I'm guessing it's your guys' home." I say with fake confusion.
Sans makes his way next to his brother and assumes the spectator position he usually does. "We found you asleep in the forest as I was preparing my next puzzle and I, the great Papyrus, could not let my future capture be lost in the snow! I still must capture you after all! Though, seeing as you are here now, you have passed all the puzzles I had prepared." He slumps at that realization.
I chuckle awkwardly. "Um- We could go back and do a few, I'm a pretty big fan of a good puzzle." I tell him and his smile beams back at me.
"REALLY?!" He shouts. "Then follow along, I have just the one!" He then struts outside, leaving me with Sans.
"Thank ya'. You've been really good to my brother and just wanna say I appreciate it. He hasn't had fun like this in a while. If you need anything from me, you can ask. Though, I'm pretty lazy, so don't expect much." He chuckles at his last words.
I smirk and follow the taller skeleton outside.
We now stand at the little bridge that leads into Waterfall, where you would normally battle Papyrus. Said skeleton now stands there with a machine next to him, eerily similar to Mettatons normal body. "Human! This puzzle was made by the great Dr. Alphys! You see those tiles on the floor?" He points towards where tiles of different gray shades are stomped into the ground. All of this was already built here when I arrived, so either they prepared it before I woke up or this thing is built very quickly. "Once I throw this switch they will begin to change color!"
He then takes a deep breath, or pretends to, as skeletons don't have lungs. "Each color has a different function." He begins. "Red tiles are impassible, you cannot walk on them!" Sans slumps a bit, getting in a more comfortable position. This is going to take a while, isn't is? "Yellow tiles are electric, they will electrocute you! Green tiles are alarm tiles, if you step on them, you will have to fight a monster!" I wonder how that works, did he just ask a few guys he knew to wait around here? "Orange tiles are orange-scented, they will make you smell delicious!"
I chuckle, who get's the idea for these tiles? Alphys' mind apparently works in mysterious, nerdy ways. "Blue tiles are water tiles." He continues. "Swim through them if you like, but if you smell like oranges the piranhas will bite you!" He slightly cringes at that, had he tested this thing? "Also, if a blue tile is next to a yellow tile, the water will zap you! Purple tiles are slippery, you will slide to the next tile!" Okay, orange tiles and 'slippery' tiles? Alphys, man. It's surprising me how goofy these tiles are. I did forget this puzzle after I played UNDERTALE, which makes all of this more exiting, what else have I forgotten? Normally, in my situation, at least in fanfiction, the character would panic because they forgot something but I'm far stronger than anything in this and probably the next worlds, so I have only excitement and my own amusement to look forward to.
"However, the slippery soap smells like lemons!" Okay? " Which piranhas do not like! Purple and blue are OK!" Why are the mechanics of this so connected? "Finally pink tiles! They don't do anything, step on them all you like!" Papyrus then claps his gloved hands together, making a muffled sound. "How was that, human? Did you understand?" He asks me.
I nod with a small grin. "Yeah. I get it."
Papyrus is likes my engagement and nods with even more fervor. "Great! Then there's one last thing... This puzzle is entirely random!" He opens his arms wide. "When I pull this lever, it will make a puzzle that has never been seen before! Not even I will know the solution! Though, I could solve it easily!" He proclaims, proud of his skills. "Here we go!" The lever that is built into the side of the Mettaton replica is pulled down by the boney arm of Papyrus and the tiles that where previously gray start to flash in a epilepsy inducing rainbow.
Ten seconds later and with a 'ding!' it finishes and tiles of different colors lay on the ground. I may or may not have forgotten the rules. I remember a few like... Oh! The pink ones are safe! Well, that's enough for me. At my intention to parkour through this thing, my combat adaptability apparently sees this as a combat scenario and my muscles twitch as I am fed the best moves to jump from pink tile to pink tile. "And I can solve this any way I want?" I ask him.
Papyrus nods. "Of course! You shall try to beat this amazingly crafted puzzle in any way you like!" He confirms.
I nod and just as I was about to start my jumps and flips, I think about how Papyrus would react to that. I wouldn't technically be cheating but... I don't think he or Sans will like it. Social interaction is exhausting! I like him, a lot. He's fun to hang out with and his brother too. I'll do this normally then.
After an exhausting thirty minutes, I lay on the snowy ground on the other side of the tiled floor. I don't actually have any wounds, even though I was extensively bit by piranhas and monsters who where waiting under the green tiles (Why did they agree to do that?), but I'm still exhausted. My VIT isn't that high, the only reason I haven't passed out is my DEX and just how fuckin' tough I am with all other stats combined. And no, I'm not activating my heavenly restriction, that would be ridiculous and my pride would take a big hit.
Papyrus grabs my sides, I almost react to the new instincts to flip the skeleton over and rush the hands grabbing me but I resist, and he props me back up. "You perform extraordinarily, human!" He pats my shoulder.
I nod. "Thanks, and my names Frisk." I tell him, thought I cringe a bit at the name. How can I react like this to something so illogical? It's just a god damn name!
He seemingly glows. "I must thank you Frisk! For going through my expertly borrowed puzzle!"
I nod with a smile, as I've been doing for most of my interactions with them. "Yeah, that's what friends are for, aren't they?"
The tall skeletons eyes go wide. "F-FRIENDS?!"
I quirk an eyebrow. "Yeah, I think we're friends at least."
His gloved hands shoot to his boney cheeks. "Wowiee! I have friends! I must be more popular with humans than with monsters!" I stifle a cough. You don't even know half of it. But as I was about to respond, Papyrus stops himself. "W-Wait. I can't be friends with you. You're a human, I must capture you!" It almost looks like saying that physically hurt him.
I sigh. "Let's just get this over with." I roll my shoulder and pop my knuckles. Sans shoots me piercing look and then walks away.
Papyrus sighs but steels himself for what comes next. "I have no choice, to fulfill my dream and become a royal guard, to become popular, I must capture you, Frisk." He summons a few bones out of the ground behind him.
I take Playful Cloud out of my inventory, Papyrus seems surprised at that, and prepare myself, getting into a stance provided by my combat adaptability. "Let's make a deal." I can feel my cursed energy react to my words, initiating a binding vow. "If you win, you can capture me and do what you want." I breathe out what air I had in my lungs. "But if I win..." I take a deep breath. "You'll stop trying to capture me." This is my first attempt at initiating a binding vow, I know I don't need a skill for it as I haven't seen one in the skill tree.
Papyrus nods, wanting to find a way out of needing to capture me anyway. "I agree! Not that I would loose!" I can feel a weight settle on my shoulders and the tensing of Papyrus' bones(?) indicates that he felt it too.
"Then let's do this." the world flickers and turns colorless the next second. I see four bones fly towards me and I try one of my new skills. A line is drawn across the closest bone and a red dot appears in one spot along said line. I feel almost drawn towards it and the swing of Playful Cloud hits the created weak spot and the bone shatters instantly.
I get in a running stance and take off, doing the same to the other three bones, showering my path in white fragments. I channel magic into my mouth and activate my cursed speech. "Stop moving." I command the skeleton and the swing of his arm that was about to summon another attack stops in it's path. I let the marks fade, allowing me to speak again as I stop my sprint in front of the younger skeleton brother. "I won."
*You spare Papyrus.
The world fades back to normal as the skeleton slumps with the deactivation of my command. I didn't get his powers... is only Sans a challenge here? Papyrus stands back up and smiles at me, having got his funk back. "As per our deal, I cannot capture you anymore! So, nothing stands in the way of our friendship!"
I spent the rest of the day with the skeleton brothers, eating spaghetti- or chocking on it, making Papyrus fume as me and Sans joke around and playing that days crossword on the couch while the other two watch the MTT program. Now I stand in the entrance towards Waterfall, Playful Cloud in my hand, folded into it's staff form and resting comfortably in my right hand.
I hear the noise of crashing waves and flowing water streams, comforting me after all of this excitement. I relax and think about how the entirety of my second life has been filled with adrenaline and noise. I've made friends and family, yes, but I think I need a moment of calm before I move forward.
I look towards the ground, the dark blue stone that emerges from the last vestiges of the snow peeking out with their vibrant gleam. I activate my Ratio Technique and slash Playful Cloud at the ground five times in total, kicking up a vaguely bench shaped rock formation. I place my behind onto it, uncomfortable as it is, it's enough for me to organize my plans from here on out.
My previous goal, master the cursed energy tab, is almost achieved. Only a few more skill points and then a bit of training is left before that's done. What's next?
In the System department, I was debating on venturing deeper into my SOUL tab while I'm still in UNDERTALE, where I could ask for help on the subject, should I need it. Otherwise, I'll see where the System and it's quests take me.
In the Social department I'm a bit more stumped. Because the System described this world as a 'Tutorial', I know that I'll go to another world after this one. So, my future actions depend on if I can return here. If I can, then cool, I'll set up a nice base and instate peace between humans and monsters, make a real Utopia out of this world. I have the power to do so, if the average human isn't a god power-wise. If I can't return, then- well, I will think a lot more short term.
I'm not so selfless as to ensure global peace between humans- who would attack monsters for the same reasons they did the first time, would I let the monsters just free- and the people of the UNDERGROUND. I would rather take care of the few I make friends with and go from there.
But, in both scenarios, I will break the barrier because at least Papyrus would like that. Not like it's too much trouble for me...
I sigh and look at the ceiling of this enormous cave that contains far too much history and culture for a place underground. "I swear, the last time I've been this stressed was when I was kicked out of the house at sixteen. Well... no, that was much more stressful. This time around I'm just making friends and becoming a god." I chuckle at that last comment. Sarcastic as it was meant, with the unlimited potential of the System, I may or may not actually become a deity.
"Well, I guess I'll train a bit more before progressing. It's really annoying me that I've got so many skills at level one right now." My relaxation turned to strenuous work as time passed.
-PoV: Sans-
The older skeleton brother cares for not much, his brother one of those few things, and many consider him lazy. They're right. He takes life easy after... well, after he had to take care of Papyrus by himself, which had him under enough stress and work that he decided that he had enough work for one lifetime.
But- well- that's not entirely right either. He can remember things that didn't happen, he had asked his brother about when a flower attacked Snowdin but his precious brother replied in the negative. A strange occurrence and one of the few instances where he had cared enough about something to work on it.
And now this kid shows up and something in his skull tells him that there's something wrong about him. But when the kid- Frisk, he told them later on- and his brother became swift friends, he guessed his mind was just playing tricks on him. He saw moments where the kid wanted to go through it faster, wanted to do something else and when the kids fingers twitched as they entered their house after their snowy rescue, he knew something was up. But when even his brother was going on about the next time they'd hang out with the kid, well, he won't be rude about it.
Even he himself has grown rather fond of the kid, his buddy jokes back and he saw him hold himself back from laughing quite a few times.
And now he seen him doing magic of such variety that it could not originate from just one SOUL. This... he should report this to the king. He remembers that Gh- Alphys was researching on ways on how to break the barrier using other methods but besides the already known way, only one more, equally improbably way was found. It is to simply overpower the magic seal. It requires a combination of both physical and magical attacks that not even a monster with a human SOUL could output, though that is purely theoretical as no monster has ever reached that point.
But Sans felt the strength of this human, even their LV, though that they only killed once for it was another anomaly the skeleton stored away for another time, and this gave him... not hope. He doesn't feel that spark he'd last felt when fath- he still had help with Papyrus, but something in him is stirring.
When he first shook the hand of Frisk, the kid was barely above the magic level of his brother but even back then he felt something besides the SOUL magic in the kid. Two other energies, one rough and full of hatred and the other calm like a water stream. He hadn't cared enough at the time to investigate but now Frisk has not only grown in physical power but also in whatever skill needs those energies.
And had his bones rattled when Frisk punched a hole through three trees in a row with just one blast. And then Frisk picked up a rock, the stone subsequently glowing a dark blue light, before he threw it, clapped his hands and switched places with the rock in a blue flash. Sans wasn't sure why he came here at first but after seeing Frisk do things like summon weird animals that he almost thought where monsters where it not for their seemingly mute nature, but now he knew that the last needed human that had fallen down into the UNDERGROUND would break a cycle that had been going on for far too long.
And that made him hope. Made him think about his brother getting to drive a car on the surface, getting to watch the sunset- or seeing the sun at all.
It's not like he hates it here but his brother only has an ambition that his teacher- Undyne- actively tries to steer him away from. For good reason, Sans also doubts that his innocent and jolly brother is suited for the job of Royal Guard, a position directly connected to violence and not-so recently, with the war on humans, murder. So, the prospect of such a life for his brother let him dream again.
He just hopes that this feeling of unease will vanish.
-PoV Frisk(?)-
I finish my combination of physical work outs while in heavenly restriction, reobtain my Cursed Energy while training my concentration and magical manifestation, to look at the very last skill I had yet to touch.
[Domain Expansion] Level 1/100
Right now, the only Cursed technique that fits the required level of 50 is The Ten Shadows and I wanted to wait for my first cast of my domain until I had finished my basic work outs- which had become extraordinarily more strenuous with heavenly restriction active, I was bench-pressing trees for god's sake!- and brought up all my new skills to at least level 30. Some even exceeded that mark due to their passive nature, like domain amplification, as I could keep them while training other skills.
My Cursed Energy itself has also increased massively.
CURSE: 20.123/32.450
I've noticed that sealing away my cursed energy with the heavenly restriction and then forcing it to flood back into myself enlarges my reserves massively.
But all of that aside, now I really want to use my domain. It's the coolest aspect of the JJK power system in my opinion and I've been dying to try it out ever since I got it and saw that the level of my Ten Shadows had surpassed 50 as I was taming the Shikigami.
I intertwine the first joints of my fingers and press my thumbs into each other. "Domain Expansion: Chimera Shadow Garden." I call out and feel as about a third of my total cursed energy leaves me. The world turns black and white, very similar to when I commence battle in the UNDERGROUND, and the ground is swiftly flooded with a tar-like black liquid. I do not need to channel Cursed Energy into my soles to keep me afloat but I know that that avoiding a fall into the void is not so easy for anybody else trapped within my techniques innate domain.
I look behind myself to see a slowly disappearing object that resembles two columns of a spinal bone with bow shaped ropes tied to it, what looks like nerves escaping from it's back and into the darkness.
I feel a slow drain on my reserves, enough to where I could only hold this up for another ten or so minutes. I feel a sort of connection to the black water below me, I raise a hand and a spike of the dark liquid follows the commanding motion. That cost no extra energy... but I can see that the drain is far too high I can feel the brittle nature of the shell of the domain, must be caused by the skills low level. Though it has already leveled twice, so it wont take long for any problems to be taken care of.
I stop giving the domain my Cursed Energy, cutting off the flow and the darkness recedes and the liquid dissipates, not leaving a trace of it's existence behind.
I smile. "Well, that's enough leveling for now. It's time to continue." And with that, I turn to where the rushing sounds of water originate and begin the next part of my journey.
