In Hell, The Hazbin Hotel
Vaggie was sitting in the Lounge of the hotel still fuming about her conversation with Lute the night before. She was worried about being able to protect the hotel from the army of exorcists, about her ability to protect Charlie. While she was thinking a familiar voice called out from the shadows. "Good Morning, my dear. Seems like you're having a bit of trouble today". Vaggie growled out "What do you want Alastor?" "To sit back and enjoy the suffering of the souls that reside within these walls of course." Alastor replied while sitting down next to her.
Vaggie glared at him, Alastor simply smiled as he always does and asked "Now what seems to be the problem darling?" Vaggie just sighed and said "I have been going out of my mind with worry. Sera has threatened everyone in this hotel, she threatened to personally kill Charlie and I don't know of a way to stop her. When they come back down here in a week we won't be able to stop them." Alastor gave his signature smirk while thinking this conundrum over. Finally, he looked at Vaggie and stuck out his hand. "Well, I could guarantee the safety of everyone here … for a price of course."
Green light filled the room and it seemed that a gale of wind was blowing out of Alastor's hand. Vaggie looked uncertain, you had to be careful around The Radio Demon. Finally she asked, "What is it you want, my soul?" "Of course not my dear, this is the simple exchange of a favor. I help you with this and later, at a time of my choosing, you do a favor for me. An eye for an eye if you will." Alastor chuckled and replied.
Vaggie did not see any other way. Hesitantly she stuck out her hand, just as she was about to close the deal Charlie burst into the lounge screaming "OhmygoshOhmygosh, Vaggie I was just sent a letter from Adam calling for mediation to discuss a Ceasefire! He wants to meet me and you back where my first meeting with Sera took place, in 30 minutes. He seems serious." Vaggie pulled her hand away from Alastor and looked over at Charlie "Hun, are you sure this is a good idea? This could be a trap, remember Sera said she was going to personally exterminate you and Adam is the leader of her armies."
Charlie walked over to Vaggie and grabbed her hands "I know that silly, I know not to take shit from anyone. We have to go though, if there is even a small chance this is real we could save my people from death even for a little while." Vaggie was understandably skeptical, after all, angels hated demons and Sera was looking for any reason to kill her and Charlie. That being said she needed to have faith in her girlfriend, after all when Charlie learned she used to be an exorcist she still trusted her. She still loved her without pause.
Vaggie looked up "Alright hun but I am not taking any chances, I am bringing my angelic spear just in case this is an ambush." Charlie smiled, grabbed her hands, and pulled her out the front doors.
The Heaven Embassy in Hell
Adam and Lute were waiting in the first room of the Heaven Embassy. As they were both starting to think the Princess of Hell had ignored their summons, there was a knock on the door. Adam waved his hand and the doors opened to reveal Charlie and Vaggie. They both looked skeptical as they walked into the room. Vaggie had a tight grip on her Angelic spear and kept her eyes glued to Lute. After sitting at the opposite end of the table Adam finally spoke up. "Thank you for agreeing to this meeting Princess."
Charlie and Vaggie were both shocked. Why did Adam look like he respected these two demons, why did he look like he was genuinely happy to see them here? Charlie hesitantly spoke up "Thank you for calling it, if I may ask what made you decide to stop the extermination?"
Adam looked at Lute while saying "Now that's a story better told by Lute" Lute looked over at the pair and said "It was actually Vaggie who made me realize something I never thought of before. When she called the exorcist's central communicator last night I picked it up. After talking with her I realized that there were potentially innocent or redeemable souls in hell. She made me realize that the exorcists were supposed to serve with honor, Exorcists were supposed to be soldiers that defended Heaven and instead, we have been killing souls without rhyme or reason. We have been erasing them with reckless abandon. It was hard to admit but we need to give your idea of redemption a chance. You will have two years without an extermination. Prove to us that a soul can be redeemed. If you can redeem one soul then it will prove that it is possible and you will have Heaven's help in accomplishing your dream. Maybe this way our army can gain back some of the honor we have lost. We will be checking in with you from time to time to see your progress. Good luck Princess and to you as well … Sister."
As she finished Adam snapped his fingers and they were gone in a flash of light. Charlie couldn't believe it. She looked at Vaggie with wide eyes and she only had one thing to say. "We've got work to do".
Exorcist Training Facility
After the meeting with Charlie, Lute and Adam wanted to relax, they both needed a drink. If this redemption idea worked it would change everything. Sera would not be happy but they would deal with that tomorrow. Tonight they were going to get a well-deserved drink. They both flew off to a well-known bar known as Imperial Gold.
Imperial Gold
After landing the bartender Jack asked them "What'll you have?" Adam looked at Lute and said "You helped me see reason, Lute. You helped bring about change not only for exorcists but for all of Heaven. Tonight we are celebrating you."
Lute smiled slightly "Thank you, Sir." She turned to the bartender and asked for two bourbons. She turned back to Adam "You know sir, the princess may have her head in the clouds but her heart is in the right place. There will be several obstacles she will have to face and Sera is the biggest one. What do you think will happen when she finds out?"
Adam looked into his glass for several minutes before answering "To be honest, I don't know but whatever happens, I will handle it. I am hoping that she will see reason but I truly don't know." Lute just looked at Adam sadly and said "Thank you for agreeing to this. I know you wanted to avenge Eve…"
Before she could continue Adam held up his hand to stop her. He looked into Lute's eyes "I have been consumed by anger for so long. I wanted to get revenge for Eve the only way I knew how, but Eve wouldn't want it this way. She would want me to let go of her, let go of the past, and let go of my anger. She would want me to find happiness and move on." They continued to drink and talk like lifelong friends well into the night. After last call, they both tried flying back to the training facility but the alcohol made that rather difficult. In the end, they decided to lean on each other for support and walk back to the training facility.
Exorcist Training Facility
After arriving back, they both stumbled through the halls eventually finding Lute's room. Lute opened the door turned to Adam and whispered "Sir, I could try and help you." Adam got a quizzical look on his face and said "Help me what?" Lute blushed and couldn't look at him before replying "I could help you move on." Adam smiled and gently turned her around. "Lute look at me, are you sure this is what you want? Are you sure you want to take this step? You are my lieutenant, my trusted comrade in arms but I don't want you to feel pressured in any way."
Lute smiled and said, "Yes Sir, I want to help you; I want this". Before they did anything further Adam gently held her cheek and said "If we are going to do this, call me Adam". Lute closed the door and gave him a brief kiss before saying "Yes Adam". They spent the rest of the night in the throes of passion.
Review: I ask that all reviews be constructive criticism with suggestions on how to improve my story and writing overall. If you have nothing constructive or nice to say please do not leave a review at all. Don't like the story, don't read it. I know that many people loved the characters created by Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano exactly as they were but I wanted to write a story and put my own little twist on it. I also saw a disturbing lack of substantial Adam/Lute stories so I wanted to try and rectify that. I plan to post a new chapter about once a week. While this story is going on, I plan to write an Alastor/Charlie one as well (at least at some point down the line). Best wishes all and hope you enjoy :)
