Exorcist Training Ground

Dahlia marched out to the front of two goal posts "Line up the prisoners!" she called. Adam and Lute were dragged over to the two posts and tied down. A group of five angels walked over with their angelic spears and raised them up, pointed at Adam and Lute. With their training they wouldn't miss.

Dahlia walked over and asked "Would the prisoners request to be blindfolded?" Adam and Lute just glared at her "I'll take that as a no" she stated and walked away but before she passed Adam he spat "I hope you can live with yourself Dahlia." Dahlia raised up her hand and called out "Ready, Aim…" Before she could utter the word fire Lute called out "Wait, this is wrong and we all know it. The 'commander' is making a mistake and she needs to be called on it. No angel should have to go out this way."

The angels were looking at each other uncertainty now. Lute continued "We are loyal soldiers, we follow orders, but we are not a bunch of unthinking droids. We are the children of God" Dahlia called out "FIRE!!!" The angels threw their spears at the ground and backed away. Dahlia looked at the 'execution squad' in shock asking "Wha-What happened?" At that moment a Seraphim angel named Emily flew down stating "Thank goodness you two were not hurt."

She then turned to Dahlia "They are doing the right thing Dahlia because if this is how angels are rewarded for righteous actions one day every angel in Heaven may face a similar fate." She turned to the two guards standing nearby and ordered them "Take off their bindings" The guards moved over to carry out the order. Dahlia was frantically looking at the supposed 'execution squad' saying "No, we have to go through with this." Emily just turned to Dahlia and said "Good luck finding anyone to do it."

All of the angels present save Dahlia knew she was right. After all no angel could be the one to kill one of their siblings. Dahlia had a furious look on her face but flew away towards the Municipal District regardless.

Municipal District, Sera's Office

Dahlia burst into Sera's Office, she was about to go on a tirade about the failed execution but Sera held Up her hand and slowly stood up. "If this is about the botched execution I already know. Two hours before they were set to be executed, Emily, the angel who flew down and interrupted, confronted me about my orders. Since she is also a Seraphim she was able to call an emergency meeting with the ArchAngel Michael.

I told him that those two traitors disobeyed my orders and went behind my back to Lucifer's brat. He then turned to Emily and after listening to her told her she was temporarily given command of the exorcist's forces and to put a stop to their execution. I couldn't argue even if I wanted to." She sighed. Dahlia looked uncertain and angry "We can't let those two traitors get away with this." she fumed. Sera just smirked slightly and looked out the window. "Don't worry about that my dear Dahlia, there are Plenty of other ways to ensure they fall. I will not allow that foolish girl to bring sinners into my perfect afterlife. They will fold or we will fold them."

Dahlia looked at Sera with a quizzical look. "We? What do you mean we will fold them?" Sera turned to Dahlia "You think that I am the only one who wants those filthy sinners to stay in the pit? No No No I have plenty of allies in this Fight. All of my Seraphim sisters are on my side as it is, and I am willing to bet we can sway a few archangels and virtues to our side as well if we ever have to deal with Micheal." Dahlia looked worried and said "You really think that we can rise up against Micheal? Will it really come to a civil war?" Sera sharply looked over her shoulder "Are you questioning me or my orders?" Sera inquired. Dahlia flinched back from the fire in Sera's eyes and quickly bowed her head "No ma'am, I would never do that."

Sera looked back "Good, now you are to report to me whenever Adam and Lute make a move; is that understood?" Dahlia got up from her place on the floor and saluted Sera with a resounding "YES MA'AM!!". Sera smirked at the blind loyalty Dahlia displayed and dismissed her back to the Exorcist Training Facility; It was time to play a little politics.

Exorcist Training Ground

As Dahlia flew off Emily rushed over to Adam and Lute. She smiled at them and said "Thank goodness you are both safe, I was worried I was too late." Adam gently held Lute for a few moments before he asked "Who are you and why did you save us?" Emily looked at both angels before replying "My name is Emily and I am one of the Seraphim; I am the only Seraphim not part of the Seraphim family. As to why I saved you should be obvious. I believe in Princess Charlie's dream and I want to see the Exorcists led by others who believe in it as well. Lute, I feel for you and your sisters; you are Heavens army and I believe stopping the extermination is the first step to restoring the honor you all once had. Adam, I am sorry about Eve but you are making the right choice. I know Eve would be proud of the man you have become."

Adam smiled first to Emily and then to Lute. As Adam looked into her eyes Adam replied "I know, and I would still be stuck in that cycle of misery if it wasn't for Lute. She pulled me from the darkness and showed me that the only way to move on was to walk in the light." Lute gave him a loving kiss before turning to Emily "What do we do now though? Adam and I have been stripped of our command." Emily smiled and said "Actually Micheal has given me command of Exorcist forces and as its new general I am restoring what was. Adam is the commander again and Lute is given back the position of Lieutenant. You both need to rest up and tomorrow we need to get ready." Adam and Lute both looked confused and asked "Get ready for what?"

Emily had a serious expression as she replied "Get ready for trouble, Dahlia was not acting alone. How do you think she got the authority to lead angels against you and rise to the rank of commander? One of the Seraphim sisters, Sera, holds great malice towards those of hell. She believes that if any of those souls make it to Heaven it will poison her perfect afterlife. Sera holds great influence here in Heaven and there are others with a similar mindset." Adam growled in anger "Sera, that bitch! I should have known she would be behind this. How dare she do this!" Emily just nodded and said "We need to prepare for the worst, soon she will be recruiting allies. I will do the same and you two need to inform Princess Charlie and make sure she is ready for a potential escalation. I hope not but this could lead to a civil war."

Adam and Lute didn't want a civil war but they would do what they had to do to protect as many souls as possible. Lute had a stern look on her face "I want to avoid a fight at all costs but we will not back down. If it escalates to war then so be it. I will give my all to protect those who are precious to me even from my fellow angels." Adam had a look of conviction on his face as he nodded along with Lute. Emily smiled looking at them both "Alright, we've got some work to do".

I know that many people loved the characters created by Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano exactly as they were but I wanted to write a story and put my own little twist on it. I also saw a disturbing lack of substantial Adam/Lute stories so I wanted to try and rectify that. I plan to post a new chapter about once a week. While this story is going on, I plan to write an Alastor/Charlie one as well (at least at some point down the line). Best wishes all and hope you enjoy :)
