"Wow, there is a lot of people here" I say peaking out into the stadium
The whole stadium is absolutely bursting, its to the point where there are even people taking up seats on the stairs going up and down the rows. I had been speaking to one of the referee before hand and they had explained this was a momentous occasion as Lotus had announced she was going to be entering into the Senior Silver Conference meaning she would be leaving the islands after today for 6 months to train. Due to this everyone on the island now wanted to get a look at the last battle for the time being. I had heard from one of the referees that people who had moved from the islands had tried to return to the stadium for the battle. Lotus walk into the foyer room from the dressing room. She smiles warmly at me she give off a strong regal feeling close up
"Good Luck for the battle" I say with a bow
She giggles
"You don't need to bow, good luck to you too Dustin, I shan't be going easy on you" She says with a wink
The announcer from the tannoy welcomes myself and Lotus onto the field, there are a few small cheers except for Grandma when my name is read out but huge swathes of cheer and roars when Lotus is called for
"Corsola use Rock Blast, Seadra dive down below"
"Chinchou follow Seadra, Lapras use ice beam to block rock blast"
Corsola charges and fires off three rocks while Chinchou chases after Seadra. Lapras roars and fires off a beam of blue ice energy extinguishing the warbling rocks being sent forth. It grazes Corsola who spins away from the attack
"Chinchou use Dazzling Gleam"
Chinchou antenna vibrate and shine before firing off a beam of pink energy towards Seadra
"Dodge and use Smokescreen"
Seadra spins away before spewing a thick ink into the water below
"Corsola Spike Cannon"
Corsola charge again and fires off five bright white spikes that fly toward Lapras. They're faster than the rocks as all five hit the mark causing Lapras to flinch
"Seadra Focus Energy"
In the dark of the ink Chinchou darts it's gaze around mystified as to where Seadra could be.
"Dragon Pulse!"
A huge bright blue energy beam come flying through the ink slamming Chinchou up into the air above the water field
"Lapras catch Chinchou"
Lapras darts forward and cushions Chinchou fall
"Seadra Dragon Pulse, Corsola Rock Blast"
Seadra bursts up from out of the water as they both charge up there attack before firing it off. Neither Lapras or Chinchou can react in time taking the hits head on. They're pushed back and slam one of the rocky outcroppings. They both stammer but are able to continue
We need to take back some control, I think to myself as Seadra darts back down into the murky depths
"Chinchou dive back down as far as you can go"
Chinchou dutifully obeys
"Lapras freeze the all the water with Ice Beam"
Lapras fires off a huge beam of ice freezing the field cutting off Corsola and Lapras from Seadra and Chinchou essentially making it two 1 on 1 battles.
"Even if you separate us we'll overpower you. Seadra Dragon Pulse, Corsola Spike Cannon"
"Lapras dodge on the ice"
On the TVs I can see bursts of blue as Chinchou ducks and dives around the attacks, Corsola charges up its attack and holds it while Lapras uses the ice to slip and keep itself away from Corsola
"Chinchou use Whirlpool from below"
Chinchou begins to spin round and round below creating the largest Whirlpool below the ice. The dragon pulse, the smokescreen and most importantly Seadra become caught up, the force of the water spiralling upwards forces it all up to the ice layer. Seadra is slammed into the ice layer
"Seadra break free"
"Chinchou Discharge, Lapras stop and use Ice Beam"
Chinchou glows up lighting up the water shocking Seadra who calls out in pain
"Corsola fire!"
"Now Chinchou!"
Chinchou let's off as much electricity as it can, the extra power fires towards Seadra sending it bursting through the ice directly into the path of the Spike Cannon Corsola had fired, it slams into the side of Seadra sending it flying into the side of the stadium. It slumps down unable to continue. Lapras release its Ice Beam that strikes Corsola who bears it before sending off another Spike
"Lapras dodge!"
Just as I shout Chinchou jumps from the new gap in the water still spewing electricity which blocks the Spike Cannon and hits Corsola as it fires another. Corsola is fired by the attach but the other Spike hits the energy being held back by Chinchou electricity causing a huge explosion of energy, water and smoke fill the stadium. As it settles it reveals that both Corsola and Chinchou are both knocked out too leaving Lapras as the only competitor still able to continue
The crowd murmurs while I can see Grandma whooping and hollering in delight. I return Chinchou thanking it for all its efforts, Lapras coos and slides up to me
"You're doing great girl" I call to her with a smiles
"Seaking Mantine go!"
Lotus sends out her two other Pokemon who both land in the small gap
"Feraligatr go"
Gate emerged slamming down onto the ice
"Seaking dive down"
Seaking goes down deep while Gatr moves to follow it
"Wait Gatr!"
It stops still
"Horn Drill!"
A blinding white light can be seen from below Gatr who stopped still. Seaking slams into the ice creating huge cracks in it, the power of the attack propels it through the ice and into Gatr's midriff. Ice and water is thrown into the air alongside Gatr. The ice is completely destroyed leaving lumps of ice all floating around while Gatr is thrust back and lands in the newly free water, hit by the power of Horn Drill it is completely unable to go on
"Gatr no!" I shout
He lies motionless faced up in the water as Mantine and Seaking now circle around in the water while Lapras keeps a keen eye on them
I return Gatr while the crowd roar as Lotus begins to stage the come back
"Okay, I know it has been a while but I trust you" I say throwing out my last Pokemon
It burst open and out emerge Starmie
"Hya!" It calls as a cloud of stars burst from it appearance
"A shiny?" Lotus questions
"Yeah I caught it back in Kanto"
"Full of surprises aren't you" she giggles
Starmie touches down on the rocky outcropping while Lapras postpone itself behind it as the two opponents circle
"Seaking Megahorn, Mantine Air Slash"
The two move to make there attack
"Starmie spin in the air and use Thunderbolt"
Starmie jumps up and spins sending off huge waves of electricity, Mantine is grazed while Seaking fully takes the hit and is sent crashing into the water
"Lapras freeze Seaking with Ice Beam"
Lapras hits Seaking fully freezing it solid in the water with its horn still glowing
"Focus on Mantine, Starmie Thunderbolt, Lapras Psychic"
Lapras sends a huge beam of purple energy which Mantine dodges, Starmie waits for Mantine to dodge upwards before sending off a huge bolt that hits it square. Mantine is fried and is left unconscious floating in the water
"Yes way to go!"
"You got ahead of yourself and forgot about Seaking"
"What?" I question looking to Seaking who horn is elongated and spinning hard in the ice
"Seaking Horn Drill again!"
The ice block Seaking finds itself in crack fully and it flies towards Lapras as it going to connect Starmie flies in and takes the hit for Lapras, the attack connects sending Starmie flying back, some the residue energy also hits Seaking. Starmie hits the back wall behind Lotus slumping to floor unable to go on. Seaking grits the attack while also sparking with electricity as it becomes apparent its been paralysed by the electricity
Okay it' then I think to myself
Seaking circles in the water while Lapras stays still eyes lock on it constantly
Is she going to go with Horn Drill again? Maybe we could try that too?
"Seaking we need to end this quickly, let the luck of the island be with us, use Horn Drill again!"
"Lapras stay still let it come at you!"
Seaking leaps from the water charging head onto Lapras
"Now Sheer Cold!"
Lapras body glows a light blue before its mouth opens wide, it fires off a thin blue beam which cuts directly through Seaking who's horn glows, Seaking continues forward as Lapras dips to the side. Seaking continues and slams into the stadium wall, it hits and falls down to the water unable to continue
The announcer calls out the battle end with me as the winner. There is a stunned silence in the stadium except for Grandma who cheers loudly. Lotus stares out onto the field in astonishment while I hold all of my excitement not wanting to cause a riot. The silence is broken by a small clapping, I look to see Maya; Lotus mother clapping happily before being joined by Siegfried. The while stadium then get to there feet and begin to clap and cheer. I feel a sense of relief before I jump to Lapras excitedly who coos with happiness
"You were amazing Lapras, although we are never putting it all on a one hit move ever again."
Lapras coos happily before slowly bring me over to Lotus half of the field, I jump off her as Lotus waves to the crowd behind her
"Uh that was a great match" I stammer bowing my head
"Oh don't bow" she laughs
"I should bow to you, you were excellent, I think if not for Seaking that would have been a whitewash" She continues
"Not at all, you're really powerful. I just got lucky"
She pouts at this
"There was no luck at all Dustin, it was a pleasure to battle you" she says holding out her hand
I take it and shake causing the while crowd to cheer and hollering. Lotus then wanders up to Lapras and pets her head congratulating her on her efforts
"Could Dustin please ascend to the directors box" comes a call over the tannoy
I look to the outside edge of the stadium and see a man ushering me to head up the stairs. I return Lapras and thank Lotus again. I quickly ascend the stairs and walk out into the box where Maya and Siegfried watched the match. They both look to me happily as I bow to them
"Congratulations young man that was a fine battle" Siegfried says
"You really control you're Pokemon beautifully, they seem to trust you dutifully" Maya adds
"Thank you both, sorry I mind of crashed your daughters leaving party"
Maya smiles
"It will help her I'm the long term, now come" she says beckoning me to follow to the ledge
She waves to the crowd before picking up the small golden trophy
"And to our newest whirl cup champion please accept this trophy, may the seas blessing give you luck in the future"
I accept it before waving the trophy to the crowd in victory as I take the cheers and claps of the crowd
"Oh my little Dusty you were amazing!"
Grandma squeezes me hard as I hold the trophy
"Thank you Grandma, my Pokemon did all the work though" I stammer
"Uh actually can I ask you a favour Mr Goodshow?" I say as Charles stands off to the side smiling
"Of course young man what is it?"
"Would you take a picture of me Grandma and my Pokemon with the trophy?"
"Of course, just give me a little training session on how to work your camera setting"
"Oh Dusty it should just be you and your Pokemon you don't want me taking up space"
"No! This is my first trophy and you worked so hard to help me get here so I want to commemorate it plus..."
"What is it?"
"Your my only family now"
She wells up and hugs me even harder
I give Charles a crash course before sending out the four Pokemon who battled, Starmie stands in front of me and Grandma who stands next to me, Lapras and Feraligatr stand behind us hulking over us while I hold Chinchou in my arms
"Now say winner!" Says Charles
We all call-out happily as Charles snaps a few pictures. I take a look and smile at them. Grandma says she will get them printed and put them up in the house somewhere. She was heading with Charles to Olivine tomorrow and Charles had also paid for a ticket for me too. I accept and think forward to my gym battle with Jasmine high on my first trophy win
