At the hospital Anna woke up in a lot of pain. She was surprised she was alive. She thought for she that she wasn't going to survive her attack. She thought that they were going to kill her. They told her they would.
She had been horrified when Matt's mother slapped her. She had no time to react to Matt's father coming up and hitting her as well. She was pulled away and they blamed her for Matt's death.
Telling her that it should've been her that they found in the lake, not him. That things were better without her in town. Better when she was locked away.
They told her that her clothes should be ravaged from the bugs in the earth and tore her clothes as the man kept throwing her into a wall and to the ground. She thought she was going to die. She was going to die.
She was scared of them.
She never meant for Matt to die. She wanted his help. Not his death.
She never saw him there!
His parents berated her as they both started hitting her. She was unable to cry out for help. When things went dark, she accepted her fate, and hoped to be reunited with her mother.
But she woke up in the hospital bed. Her father and Alex were there. Not fighting but waiting for her to wake up. Rachel walked in and saw Anna was awake. "Anna." She said happy to see the girl was awake.
"How long have I been here?" She asked, her voice scratchy and weak. "A week. Your body needed the rest." Rachel told the girl sitting on the bed. Alex rushed over and started crying. "Anna. I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. If I had just waited for you, this wouldn't have happened to you." Alex told her.
Anna weakly reached over and touched her sister's hand. "It wasn't your fault. they would've done it anyway. I'm glad you're ok though." She mumbled. Everyone around her cracked a smile at that last part.
Of course, Anna would worry about others before her own self.
"The police are looking for Matt's parents. But they seemed to have bailed town." Stephan told his daughter. "But don't worry. They will never be able to get close to you again." He told her and rubbed her other hand.
Anna nodded.
Her entire body hurt. Seeming to notice this, Rachel went out and got the doctor to come in to check on Anna then give her pain killers.
Anna soon, relaxed as the meds kicked in, closing her eyes and falling back to sleep.
When Anna woke up again, Alex, Rachel, and her dad weren't in the room anymore, but instead it was Will and Dr. Lector.
Will saw she was awake, as Hannibal was reading her medical file it appeared. Will gave a forced smile as he wasn't used to smile to people in hospitals. Hospitals made him uncomfortable.
"Hello Anna. I'm happy you are ok. Would you be ok if I asked you some things? Not a lot. I just want to know what your attackers told you." Will asked.
Hannibal looked up and moved to sit beside Anna, Will saw this and took it as a doctor wanting to comfort an injured client in this time of need.
"They just blamed me for Matt's death. They wanted to hurt me for it. They told me they were going to kill me for Matt." Anna wheezed out to the FBI agent. Will frowned and nodded. "Do you know if they have a different place? A vacation home perhaps?" Will asked her.
Anna shook her head.
"Matt's family didn't do that. They would stay in a hotel when they would go out of town." She said. She looked at Hannibal. "Can I get a drink... maybe a soda?" She whispered. Hannibal nodded and patted her hand.
"Of course." He stood and went to Will. "If you're going to ask her more, have her write it down, let her rest her voice." He ordered Will. All for Anna's comfort and healing.
Hannibal walked out of the hospital room to the closest vending machine to get Anna a water and a cola to drink and help her throat. He waited behind the two nurses who were also getting a carbonated and caffeinated drinks to help get them through the rest of the night.
He stood there thinking about the people who tried to kill Anna.
He knew where they were. He found them, they were in his basement. And he planned on making things with them to feed Anna. Maybe a nice stew? That would help her throat heal. He grinned to himself as he stepped up to the machine and pulled his card out.
He knew that luckily Anna wasn't sexually assaulted. They ran a test as her clothes had been torn. She was still an innocent virgin. She was still virginal for him to take from her.
He will do whatever he can to help Anna's healing progress. It will help her get her closer to him romantically. When he came back, Hannibal's heart skipped a beat, seeing Anna look over at him and smile softly.
He couldn't help but softly smile back and went over to her. He opened her soda and held it to her soft lips. "Take a sip, you don't want to make yourself sick." He told her. She did as he told her to do.
She was soon back to sleep. Hannibal sent Will away, promising to stay with Anna until her family returned. He wasn't going to leave his future bride alone any longer.
