Tornado adopts a Unicorn
"Oh, don't worry little girl, you will enjoy your stay here. I'm sure."
Tatsumaki looked at the freak in front of her with disgust. Just one look at him told her enough. How this bastard is responsible, or at least a part of the reason why the girl in her arms is trembling in fear.
"Now, show us what you can do with your powers."
She glared at the bird guy with such killing intent that he instantly began to piss his pants. "What do you want, freak?" She asked him with venom in her voice.
The person tried to hide his fear as best as he could, but he did a poor job. "We- well, you see, m- my niece was having a temper tantrum and ran away from me. I- I searched ev- everywhere and couldn't find her. Th- thank you for keeping her from running away further." He stammered out weakly.
"Wonderful, do you know how powerful you are? With you in our grasp, we will definitely create our very own espers very soon."
But Tatsumaki smiled dangerously at him. "Ohhh? But it looks to me that she's scared out of her mind. Doesn't look like a tamper tantrum to me?" She asked him smugly. Tatsumaki is going to enjoy this.
"Well, that's because I was going to scold her, and you know how kids are easily scared by that." The bird guy really wasn't giving up.
"Hehe, oh I definitely know. I have a younger sister who really was pushing my limits sometimes, so I know how you feel." Her killing intent vanished, and she smiled brightly at him. Such a smile really doesn't suit her at all.
"Can I go home now? I want to see my baby sister."
The blonde immediately sighed in relief, thinking he had managed to deceive her. "Heh, I can imagine. Well, thank you for taking care of my niece, now kid, come here an- AAARRGGGHH." The body of the bird guy suddenly twisted and formed itself in unnatural positions with a green aura surrounding him.
Tatsumaki pushed the girl behind her back and looked devilish at the person before her. "Who do you think you are talking to? Do you really think someone with your intellect could manage to deceive me? ME? I will hurt you in so many different ways that your mind will be broken before you can even think of escaping me."
Tatsumaki's fist tightened, and all the bones in the man's arm were completely shattered.
"AAAAAHHHHHHGGGGG OOORRRGG"
"Hey, what's wrong with you, brat? Why is your power getting weaker? Tch, how pathetic."
"If you want to have a plausible story, then at least give her normal clothes or clean the girl up sometimes. She looked like she was living on the streets. How stupid can one be?" The esper swiped her finger from left to right, and the ribcage of her target was vaporized.
"UUUUURRRGGHHHH PL- PLEASE STOP! PLEASE! I WILL DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU!"
The men begged pathetically, hoping to get even a little bit of mercy from Tatsumaki. But Tatsumaki is not someone who shows mercy to scum like him. The opposite, actually. She was enjoying herself right now.
"Wait! Let me out! Don't leave me!"
But her grin vanished, and she glared at him again. "I am sure the girl was saying the same thing to you in the past. And you guys probably didn't listen to her and continued to have your ways with her." Tatsumaki didn't know what they did to her, but it couldn't be something harmless if she was so terrified of him.
"I have some questions, and you will answer them. Do you understand?"
"Ye- yes. I will do anything." He breathed out desperately.
"Hmph, who's your boss? You're definitely not smart enough to lead someone, so tell me who he is and where to find him." She increased the pressure on his neck to let him know who was in control. And he definitely knew who had the leverage.
"That one has no potential, leave her!"
But the eyes of the men widened. "N- no, anything but that. If I tell you that, he will do things to me. Please, ask somethi- OOOOOAAAAHHH." Tatsumaki twisted his balls. By god, she had no mercy at all.
.
.
.
Well, that was a mistake.
Because now he's unconscious.
"Tch, how disgraceful can one be? He could not endure that little pain?" Tatsumaki looked at the body in front of her with distaste. But she couldn't do anything right now, and the child was still behind her.
"Hey brat, what did he want from you?" She asked her kind of roughly.
The girl flinched at that. But she knew the woman before her protected her just now. So maybe she can trust her a bit? Maybe? "I- I'm cursed. My cu- curse makes p- people disappear. My daddy is gone because of me. And my mo- mommy gave me away to the bad guys." The girl stammered out and was on the verge of tears.
"Mama and Papa sold me off."
The espers's features softened again, and she crouched down to get to her eye level. "Hey kid." She said softly. "You managed to escape all on your own, right?" The girl looked at her with teary eyes and nodded.
Then something unexpected happened. Tatsumaki smiled at her, a genuine and soft smile that she had never given someone else before. Well, her sister maybe? Who knows?
"When the time comes, don't go expecting someone to come save you."
"You're very strong, little one. And you can be proud of yourself, because right now, you were braver than me at your age." Tatsumaki patted the girl's head and smiled at her softly again.
The girl looked at her in awe. Never had someone said anything like that to her. Tears were flowing out of her eyes now, with nothing stopping them. Tatsumaki saw this and picked the girl up in her arms to get her somewhere safe. The police station maybe?
"Hey kid, what's your name?"
She stopped crying and gave the esper her name. "I'm Eri ... and you?"
"Tatsumaki."
With that, Tatsumaki made her way to the nearest police station with a small child in her arms and a beat-up villain whom she was dragging behind her with her powers.
She asked different people on the street where to find one, but most recognized her and ran away in fear of her. And some of them were afraid of her because she was literally dragging half-dead men behind her. But after some time, she managed to find one. And of course, it's the one where she was yesterday with the stuck-up detective inside.
"Great, of all the police stations in this city, I managed to find that one." Tatsumaki complained and reluctantly made her way inside.
There were many people inside, but Tatsumaki ignored them and walked straight to the receptionist, who looked like she wanted to be anywhere else instead of here. The receptionist looked up boredly and widened her eyes immediately. "He- hello, how c- can I help you?" She asked in fear.
Tatsumaki didn't care about being feared by everyone, but it annoyed her to no end how everyone seemed to forget how to talk properly. "I want to speak with the detective who has the lie detector ability, if he's here. And I want to speak with him NOW. I don't have time to wait for him." She told the woman impatiently.
The woman smiled forcedly at her. "Of co- course, miss Tatsumaki, I will be bringing him here immediately." The woman sprinted away to get as much distance from her as possible.
She arrived at Tsukauchi's office and walked inside without knocking. Tsukauchi looked up in surprised from his desk. "Miss Fushi? I told you to always knock if you want some-" She interrupted him. "She's here. Tatsumaki is here again." She told him nervously. The detective's eyes widened, and he rapidly stands up from his chair to follow Miss Fushi outside.
After arriving at the waiting room, he spotted the green-haired woman at the ... children's area? What? Not only that, the esper was watching over a small child who was playing with some blocks. But it looks like the child had no idea how to play with it and just looked at it awkwardly. And then he spotted the body. Behind the esper, he could see a body floating around, and it looked like the body was on the verge of death. What the hell happened?
He carefully walked over to Tatsumaki to get some needed answers. "It's good to see you again, miss Tatsumaki." He lied without hesitation. "Miss Fushi told me you wanted to speak with me, yes? Well, you can follow me to my office." Tatsumaki turned around and nodded.
After arriving in his office, Tatsumaki gave Tsukauchi no chance to speak, and got straight to the point. "I need you to interrogate this bastard here." She pointed a finger at the unconscious body. "He was running after the kid, and it looked like he was abusing her. The kid was so terrified of him that she began to shake with her whole body and was petrified. I tried to interrogate him myself, but he fell unconscious after I tortured him. Oh, and there are more of them, maybe some kind of organization." She finished her explanation.
Tsukauchi looked at her in disbelief. "You've been in this world for less than a day, and you already gave me more headaches than All Might in the six years of knowing him." Tsukauchi said with exhaustion as he put his head in his hands and slumped back in his chair. "*sigh* Please start from the beginning so I can open a case." He told her exhausted. Then he grabbed a pen from his drawer and a small notebook to write down. Additionally, he placed a small recording device on the table.
Tatsumaki began explaining the situation with great detail, which got Tsukauchi scared of her again after she told him about the torture part. Twisted his balls? Sure, he deserved it, but still, he was a man too, so he could imagine what the villain felt.
After she finished, he sighed again, just wanting to go home. "Alright, let's just say you defended yourself from him because I already know if we want to charge you for torturing someone, you would just blow this place up. But please let the police handle the interrogation in the future, ok?" He pleaded with her.
"Hmph, I don't see how you guys would do a better job than me, but whatever." Tatsumaki huffed out as she raised her chin at him arrogantly.
Tsukauchi sweatdropped at that. "You didn't get a single bit of information out of him, and he fell unconscious."
The esper stiffened a bit. "W- Well, it's not my fault that the guy was such a wimp." She stammered out.
At that moment, the villain on the ground woke up from his 'slumber'. "Urgh, what happened? Where am I?" He asked confused and looked around the room and spotted the green-haired woman next to him on a chair. His eyes widened, and he tried to flee, but his broken body prevened it and he crashed face first on the ground.
Eri saw the man wake up and immediately snuggled closer to Tatsumaki's side for protection. Completely unaware, Tatsumaki hugged the girl closer to her side with her left arm.
"Took you long enough, you useless waste. Now we can finally continue our little talk." Tatsumaki told him in her usual dark tone. She needed answers, and she will get them.
But Tsukauchi wanted to get things in control before Tatsumaki could get ahead of herself again. "Wait wait wait, before we can interrogate him, we need to bring him into one of our interrogation rooms, and before we can do that, we need to open a case first so w-" Tatsumaki didn't let him finish and shuts him up with a small wave of killing intent releasing from her. "Or we can just ask him here. I mean, it would be much faster that way." Tsukauchi breathes out fast so as not to get on her bad side again.
Pleased, Tatsumaki stopped her killing intent and let the detective do his thing.
Again, Tsukauchi took out his pen, notebook, and recording device and began his interrogation. "First, I want to clearify that you have the right to remain silent and th-" Tatsumaki didn't let him finish that sentence. "You have the right to remain alive if you answer truthfully." She said, interrupting the detective.
Tsukauchi coughed and continued. "Umm, right. Secondly, my quirk lets me 'see' if the person I'm talking to is telling the truth or lying to me. Do you have any questions?" Tsukauchi finished, already exhausted from the stress of the last 15 minutes.
The villain shook his head, completely terrified.
"Good. Now, to start things off, I will need some information, so please tell me your name and quirk."
"My name is Toya Setsuno, and my quirk is called Larceny. It lets me steal anything that I see from the person who is holding it." He explained fast and without hesitation, mostly because he didn't want to experience the wrath of Tatsumaki again.
The detective nodded in satisfaction, not sensing any lies from the villain so far.
"Now tell me what you've done to the girl and why she is so important to you."
"And don't you dare lie again, because if so, I will rip them off next time." Tatsumaki threatened him with her cold glare, staring him down.
The villain began to sweat again and answered the question. "I- I work for the Shie Hissakai, and I am one of the eight bullets of Overhaul. I don't know what they need the girl for. I only know what they do to her. My only job was to look after her today and not let her escape because somehow she is needed for something big that Overhaul has planned." This time, he told everything with no trace of his earlier loyalty remaining. Could you blame him? Not even the toughest villains want to experience the pain he felt earlier.
Tatsumaki wanted to know more and covered the girl's ears. "What did they do to Eri?" Her tone was cold, and her killing intent was so intense that Toya pissed his pants again.
"Pl- please don't hurt me again. I didn't do anything to her. I was just supposed to watch over her. Please believe me." His voice was shaky and pathetic.
"I asked you what they did to her, or are you so pathetic that your hearing is not working properly now?" Her patience was running thin.
"We- well, they cut her open with knives and scapels to extract some of her blood and bones. Then they fix her with the boss's quirk and do it again. This continues for a couple of hours every day of the week." He confessed with his eyes closed in fear of getting completely crushed by the esper's outburst after telling her that.
But Tatsumaki looked completely calm, strangely enough. There was not even a trace of wrath on her face, and she didn't even release any killing intent. She uncovers Eri's ears and looks at her with a strange expression.
She breathed out slowly.
And inhaled.
Breathed out.
And inhaled.
Again.
And again.
And again.
She covered Eri's ears again but did the same to her eyes this time.
Then she made a small gesture with her hand, and the villain got crushed by the force of 1000 times earth's gravity, and was just blood and flesh on the ground.
Tsukauchi, who was on the verge of vomiting, looked at Tatsumaki completely aghast.
"TATSUMAKI WHAT THE HELL!?" He screamed at her in disbelief.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'WHAT THE HELL?'. HE GOT WHAT HE FUCKING DESERVED!" She screamed right back at him.
"YOU CAN'T JUST KILL EVERYONE WHO IS A PIECE OF SHIT! YES, HE DESERVES THE WORST, BUT WE COULD HAVE GOT MORE INFORMATION OUT OF HIM. AND NOW HE'S DEAD AND USELEES." He tried to justify his outburst, which by the way, was justified.
Tatsumaki noticed her mistake too. She doesn't regret killing him, he deserved far worse, but the detective was right. They don't know anything. Not what they plan, no members besides this Overhaul dude, and certainly no location. Dammit!
Tsukauchi slumped back in his chair and sighed. "Urgh, I will look up Overhaul and Toya Setsuno. I hope to find at least something." He looked at the child, still pressed against Tatsumaki's side. "But let us first deal with the child. Maybe we can find some relatives of her. What did you say her name was?"
So they were ignoring the dead 'body' now?
Tatsumaki calmed down. Eri was more important right now. "Her name is Eri. She has no last name like me."
Tsukauchi nodded and tipped the name in his computer to find some information. Her hair and eye color were a given, so it should have been easy to find her. But he found nothing. It was like she didn't even exist. And after 30 minutes of searching, he gave up. "I can't believe it. It's like she just appeared out of nowhere. I couldn't find anything."
Tatsumaki looked at him confused. "So what will happen to her now?"
The detective rubbed his chin in concentration. "Well, we will definitely put her under witness protection, and then she will likely be put in some kind oforphanage until someone decides to adopt her. After getting her completely checked up, of course." He explained to her honestly.
Tatsumaki nodded at him. "Well, I'm off then. If you find anything out, tell me immediately so I can wipe them out completely." Tatsumaki stood up and began to walk out of the room, leaving a wide-eyed Eri behind.
"N- no, please stay. Don't leave me." She pleaded with a shaky voice.
"You need to leave? No, please stay here with me and my sister."
Hearing that, Tatsumaki stopped and looked behind her, seeing Eri on the verge of tears again. "Sorry kid, but I don't have the time to look after a child." With that, she continued to walk away.
"I'm sorry, but I'm a hero and don't have the time to look after you two. I'm sure you will be alright. You're strong, so I know you can handle yourself."
But Eri ran after her with tears flowing down her face. "Di- did I do something wrong? Is it b- because of m- my curse? Please don't leave me. I want to stay with you." She cried out desperately.
"Blast, where are you? Please come back. I need you."
Tatsumaki stopped in her tracks. What the hell is she doing? She suddenly remembered all the years she spent alone with her sister after Blast left her. It was so hard. And lonely. So damn lonely. She just wanted to see Blast one last time. She was so alone. She looked after her sister, not caring if she overworked herself so that at least Fubuki could go to school, and have a good future. She was alone. And she fucking hated it.
Was she really doing the same thing to Eri what Blast did to her? Sure, she could understand why Blast did that, and she didn't hold it against him because he was right. She could handle herself. But still ...
Maybe ... Eri doesn't have to be alone?
Just maybe ...
... she can do it.
Tatsumaki turned around and walked over to Eri, who was looking at the ground with tears dropping down from her face. 'Turn around Tatsumaki. You can't look after her.'
She patted the girl's head and asked, in a soft voice. "Do you really want to stay with me?"
Eri looked up with hope in her eyes. "Yes, please. I will do anything you want."
"Even if people are afraid of me?" Tatsumaki was still a little hesitant. 'Why is this so damn hard?'
Eri nodded with determination. "I don't care. I know you are a good person."
In the end, Tatsumaki couldn't bring herself to leave the girl alone and smiled softly at her. "Well, it can't be helped then. If you're really sure about it, you can stay with me." She said to Eri with a smile on her face. 'No. I can't look after her.'
Not believing her ears, Eri looked at Tatsumaki's face and saw the smile she was giving her. Now Eri was crying again, but these were tears of pure joy this time. The small child crashed into Tatsumaki and hugged her with all her might. "Thank you thank you thank you thank you. I promise I will be good, so you won't give me away." The girl said as she cried into Tatsumaki's chest.
Tatsumaki patted her back and let her cry into her chest. 'What did I get myself into? Do I really have it in me to look after a small child? I mean, I raised Fubuki, but how did that one turn out? She hated me for years before it got better.'
Shaking her head to get rid of these bad thoughts, Tatsumaki looked up with determination. 'I will be better this time. I will show everyone I have what it takes to care for a child.'
With nothing else to do, Tatsumaki began to leave the room and made her way back to UA. But Tsukauchi had some things to say. "Hey, you can't just leave with her. We need to sort things out first before you can adopt her. The process will take at least a month, and even then, it will most-" But he was interrupted by Tatsumaki again. "I will leave the paperwork in your capable hands then. Contact me when you're finished, and don't forget to update me on the Overhaul case. Goodbye." With no room to argue, Tatsumaki left the building and began to fly away with a small bundle in her arms. Eri was sleeping peacefully in her arms for the first time in months. The stress and relief after the eventful day must have tuckered her out completely.
The sun was beginning to set over Mustafa.
"I think you'd be a great hero if you abide by that."
/
Back at UA, Tatsumaki couldn't believe her eyes. She stood in front of a house, and not just any house, the house she designed for Nezu that he was supposed to build for her. And the rat stood at the door with his annoyingly cheerful grin.
"Ahhh welcome back miss Tatsumaki. I hope you had a nice day in the city. Did perhaps anything special happen while you were away?" The rat asked as if he already knew everything that happened that day. It pissed Tatsumaki off. Tatsumaki was sure that the rat was doing it on purpose.
"Spit it out. What do you know?" Tatsumaki asked with no room to argue.
The grin never left Nezu's face. "Fufufu, I must apologize, but I have been monitoring you through your phone all day." Nezu explained as if he hadn't trampled on her privacy just now. "But rest assured, as an apology, I got Cementoss to increase the speed at which he was building your house, and now it even has one extra room for little Eri here. Isn't that great?"
'What the fuck is wrong with this rat? I don't even want to ask how he did all that in just half a day.'
"Tch, I don't have time for this. I have to bring Eri to bed. But I will have a long talk with you tomorrow, so I hope you have my license ready by then, or else something might happen to your beloved school." Tatsumaki said dangerously low as she walked past him. But the rat just kept grinning like a madman.
Inside her house, the first thing she noticed was that it was completely decorated with furniture and even painted walls. Flowing water and electricity were a given, and she wondered again how the rat was able to do it in that short amount of time.
But Tatsumaki had other worries because Eri stirred in her arms and woke up. She looked around in confusion before looking at Tatsumaki with a questioning gaze.
"Tatsumaki? Where are we?" She asked innocently, her big ruby eyes looking cutely into Tatsumaki's green.
Tatsumaki walked into Eri's room, tucked the small girl into the bed, and covered her with a pink blanket. "This is your new home, where you will be living with me from now on. Just go back to sleep, and then we will get you settled in, ok?" She told Eri softly.
Eri's room was not decorated, and there were no toys yet. She will have to do something about that later.
Eri nodded at her and closed her eyes. This feeling was completely alien to Eri. And when was even the last time she slept in a comfy bed? She couldn't remember.
"Can you stay with me? I don't want to sleep alone." Eri pleaded with puppy eyes.
"Hmph, I thought you were a big girl? And big girls are not afraid of sleeping alone." Tatsumaki said that, but it obviously was kind of forced.
Eri looked at her with even bigger puppy eyes that tore through Tatsumaki's thick skin. "Please."
In the end, Tatsumaki sighed and gave up. "Fine, I will wait here until you fall asleep. But after that, I will go into my own room, got it?"
Satisfied, Eri grabbed Tatsumaki's hand and went back to sleep. And just after 3 minutes, she was fast asleep.
But Tatsumaki didn't leave like she said. No, she stayed by Eri's side for at least an hour, not letting go of her hand before finally getting up from the chair to finally get some needed sleep of her own.
In her own bed, Tatsumaki thought about what had happened today. She would've never thought that she would ever adopt a small child. But the thing is, her chest was filled with warmth she could not place yet. It was a different feeling than what she felt with Fubuki. It felt nice and ... fulfilling in a way.
Tatsumaki fell asleep with a smile on her face.
Strangely enough, Eri didn't smile the entire day.
/
In the secret tunnels of the Shie Hassaikai.
Kai Chisaki was furious. He was enjoying a normal day when suddenly two underlings came to him with fearful expressions on their faces. What they told him was the worst thing he had heard in a long time.
Eri was gone.
He killed the two in pure rage and no regret whatsoever. He stormed through the compound in search of Kurono. He needs to know what happened and where the hell that cursed child escaped to. He found Kurono in front of several members, and he was shouting many different commands at them. It looks like he already knew what happened and was commanding the underlings to bring the child back. Good.
Kurono spotted Overhaul and walked over to him with a tired look. "What the hell happened? Where's Eri?" Kai asked roughly.
Kurono flinched and looked at him with caution. "You may want to sit down for that. I only have bad news, boss. And an even worse one." Kurono told Kai defeated.
What the hell does this mean? If Eri escaped or even managed to find a hero, he could easily get her back. They have people in the police force and have access to their cameras. "Spit it out already." He ordered sternly.
His assistant gulped and began to explain the situation. "Toya was supposed to look after the girl today. I was the one who planned this because the other men could not be trusted with her. But Eri managed to escape somehow, and Toya followed her. He didn't come back for quite some time, so I commanded our underlings to find out what happened." So far, he hasn't said anything too concerning in Kai's book. Yes, Eri escaped, but they could bring her back easily.
"I thought it would only be a matter of time before we got Eri back, but then someone showed me video footage from a police station not too far away from us. And what I saw was ..." Kurono stopped talking and looked away, fearing what will happen next.
Overhaul grew impatient and glared at him.
Sighing, he continued. "Kai, Eri is in the hand of the woman who killed All for One." There, he said it.
Oh no.
Did he hear that right? Eri was in the hand of that devil?
But Kurono continued talking. "I can show you the video if you want, but to make it short, it appears Eri managed to run into the woman after escaping from Toya. On the camera footage, the woman, whose name is Tatsumaki, told some detective how she tortured Toya to get information out of him. They know what we did to Eri but not what we planned. After she heard that, she killed him with no hesitation." Kurono paused to let the information sink in. Overhaul's mood was dropping with every word he said.
"But the worst thing is she wants to find us. She told the detective to give her information about the case so she could personally kill every last one of us." Kurono finished his explanation and hoped that Kai would spare him at least.
This day could not get any worse.
The yakuza lost 25 members that day.
All the while, Eri was sleeping peacefully for the first time in ages.

I hope you enjoyed the chapter.
Well that's all folks. Please review. :)
