Chapter Three-hundred and six: Kitakami Conniption, part six

The reborn trainers, bringing with them Rhyanna, Leona, and Omiyo, went to Loyalty Plaza after they finished breakfast. At the plaza, they found Carmine standing in front of the ruined remains of the shrine to the Loyal Three. "You called for us, your royal highness," Kenny called out to get Carmine's attention, making her turn to see that the heroes had arrived.

With a mildly annoyed look on her face, Carmine said, "Kenny, I only called for you, Dawn, Trip, and Mina. What are the other three girls doing here?"

"Backup in case you try to get uppity with us," Kenny replied, "A good thing that my worthy adversary Rimu gave me the heads up." Folding his arms over his chest, Kenny said, "Now what do you want?"

Relenting a bit, Carmine said, "Well, you and your friends had done a lot of good yesterday. I guess that the Mask Retrieval Squad which I was the leader of has completed its mission." Gently shaking her head, Carmine went on, "But Kieran... he's shut himself up in his room ever since he'd gotten back home yesterday. He refuses to come out save for when he has to use the bathroom. I'm really worried about how-"

"He's keeping his distance from you?"

Carmine was cut off when Rhyanna spoke up, making her lock eyes with the other older sister who had some rocky history with a younger brother. "Dawn and the others filled me and the rest of the crew in on everything last night, Carmine," Rhyanna said, "Personally, I say that what all that you're dealing with now is the bed of consequences that you've made, and the way you're acting makes it clear you don't wanna lay down in said bed."

Turning to face Rhyanna directly, Carmine said, "Oh, easy for you to say! You have a little brother who is all too happy to let you keep him with your company at all ti-"

"Mitchell isn't like that at all."

Carmine stopped short when Rhyanna interrupted her yet again. "...Similar to you with your little brother," Rhyanna began, "I had been blind to how I was being oppressive towards my little brother. It was not something he enjoyed at all. I noticed some dissatisfaction out of him, but not only did I not know why Mitchell was dissatisfied, but the solution I had come up with was simultaneously not a real solution and would have made the sibling relationship between Mitchell and I worse when he found out what I did."

Gesturing to Rhyanna, Carmine asked, "But you were able to get things back on track, right?" Rhyanna gave Carmine an affirmative nod. "So how did you do it?" Carmine asked, "How did you get your little brother to comply with your authority over him as his older sister?"

"I didn't."

Once again, Carmine looked surprised by what Rhyanna said. "...Mitchell, with some training under Dawn and Kenny, was able to become strong enough to finally defeat me in a Pokémon battle and leave to go on his own journey as a trainer," Rhyanna said, "He eventually got to the point where he was training to become a new gym leader in our home region of Sinnoh. I was at first worried about him and tried finding him to bring him back home with me, but..."

Gesturing to Rhyanna, Carmine said, "But..."

Letting out a sigh, Rhyanna continued, "...But when I finally found him, he went off on me because he found out what my plan was to make him happy. Mitchell, with Dawn and Kenny plus their friends Ash and Brock, explained to me how my plan, aside from admittedly being unethical to a degree, was not going to actually fix the issues Mitchell had, the plan would have only been a pretty cover to put over the problem so that there wouldn't be anything unappealing to look at."

"So you failed to fix things with your little brother is what you're saying," Carmine remarked as she folded her arms over her chest.

"Actually, Mitchell and I did fix things between us," Rhyanna replied, "I had realized, thanks to Dawn and her friends, that I had been messing up as Mitchell's older sister. Thanks to them, I was able to finally learn and realize why Mitchell was upset, and the solution that Dawn and Kenny applied was actually the correct solution." Looking to Carmine, Rhyanna said, "Mitchell was able to prove that he has what it takes to be an equal peer to me, to stand and be on his own."

"So you did fail to fix things with your little brother," Carmine reiterated, "The fact that you failed to make him comply with your authority over him proves it."

"Mitchell doesn't have to be my obedient robotic punching bag," Rhyanna said, her tone and the look on her face becoming more firm, "It's very much possible for a younger brother and an older sister to be equal peers to one another, one does not have to have absolute unquestionable authority over the other for the sibling relationship there to be healthy. Hell, said sibling relationship would actually be unhealthy if one of the siblings in the pair had such dominion over the other."

"Kieran has to at all times obey me and not wander away from me," Carmine insisted, "I can't let him be on his own."

"Why?" Rhyanna asked, "Does he have some manner of disability? Even if he does, he seems to be able to function well enough on his own that he doesn't need you constantly keeping him with you at all times."

Looking like she was thinking about something, Carmine said, "Me and Kieran's Grandma had once said something about Kieran having something called Asperger's Syndrome, whatever the hell that means." Gently shaking her head, Carmine went on, "But that doesn't change the fact that I can't let Kieran leave my side for any reason ever."

"It's obvious that you're not only blind to what damage you're doing, but that you also defiantly refuse to see it for what it really is," Rhyanna remarked, "Carmine, seriously. You need to open your eyes and realize that the way you've been interacting with your little brother is NOT healthy, for either of you. If you don't stop and at least TRY to fix the damage that's between you guys, then eventually things will blow up in your face in such a fashion that you can't stop it or control any of it."

Arching a wry eyebrow, Carmine asked, "And how do you propose that I fix something that obviously does not need to be fixed?"

Counting off of her fingers, Rhyanna said, "Well first off, you need to realize and acknowledge the fact that there IS stuff that needs to be fixed. You firmly declaring that there's nothing to be fixed is a problem in and of itself. Second, you need to realize that Kieran is his own person, with his own wants, needs, and plans, and that you need to let him be on his own to-"

"No way in hell will I ever let Kieran be on his own," Carmine interrupted, "Give me a solution that will let me keep things the way that I have been keeping them thus far."

Lowering her hands from where she had them held up so she could count off of her fingers, Rhyanna replied, "I can't because there is no such solution. Since you won't hear the solution I have for you, I will instead give you a warning." Leaning forward slightly, Rhyanna said, "If you continue going down the path that you are now in regards to your sibling relationship with Kieran, then the end result is NOT going to be pretty."

"It will be pretty because I'll make Kieran make things between us pretty," Carmine insisted, "I won't lose what little life I had in the past that I still have left!"

Rhyanna, as well as the others present, were surprised by how utterly unwilling Carmine is to the idea of compromising on how she is running the sibling relationship between her and Kieran. With a mildly regretful look on her face, Rhyanna said, "Then... then things between you and Kieran are going to be doomed to being ruined. That being said, since things are going to end up blowing up in your face, when they inevitably do, keep in mind you'll have no-one to blame but yourself."

Carmine was about to speak up, but a Rotom Phone ringtone went off, then a Rotom Phone flew out of Carmine's pocket and floated in front of her. "Hey Carmine, Briar here," the voice of Briar said as it came from the phone, "All students on the field trip have completed their orienteering as of this morning. The caretaker wanted to have a few words, so all students on the field trip are being asked to head to the community center."

Carmine, looking troubled, said, "...Message received loud and clear."

"Alright, I'll see you and the others here," Briar said from the phone, before the phone flew back into Carmine's pocket.

Looking troubled, Carmine said, "Well now I guess I have more time to figure out how to make Kieran fall back in line."

"...Like I said," Rhyanna remarked, "Things between you and your little brother are doomed to blow up in your face unless you realize what the real problem is and work earnestly to remedy it."

Scowling with a hint of annoyance in her expression, Carmine said, "Let's just go see what the old man wants." Together, Dawn's group and Carmine flew to the community center in Mossui Town, with Carmine as always carried under Villetta's right arm as if she were a sack of potatoes.

Upon arriving in Mossui Town, the heroes got off of the dragons they flew there while Carmine was unceremoniously dumped on the ground. After Carmine picked herself up and dusted herself off, and after the dragons were recalled, the group walked up to where Briar and the caretaker were in the middle of addressing the field trip.

"Ah, everyone is here," Briar said, "Well... most of us anyway. Regardless, let's all give the caretaker our full attention. He's got some last minute words for us."

All eyes turned to look right at the caretaker, who began by saying, "Firstly, thanks for coming, all of you. Second, I've been told that our student pairs have visited all of the sign boards in Kitakami, but it was reported two were vandalized, one being covered in graffiti and the other being broken off of its posts, and the third is missing."

"The sign boards were vandalized?!" Carmine exclaimed.

"Authority here in Kitakami will be looking into the matter, and we will be finding out who had done this," the caretaker said, a bit of serious firmness in his tone and expression, "But more on that later. Anyway, the self guided tour is now at an end, albeit ending on a less pleasant note than I'd like."

Although the students were happy that the tour was over, the atmosphere was dampened by the revelation of what happened to the sign boards. The spoiled brat rich legacy students couldn't care less what happened to the sign boards, Carmine was pissed, and Dawn's group plus Rimu's group were all concerned. The caretaker said that he also would have prepared Kitakami mochi sets for all persons on the field trip regardless of the situation with the sign boards, but something came up.

"A wild Hatterene and two wild Stantler were all found dead in the Timeless Woods," the caretaker said, "All of them had gouged out throats. We suspect that they may have been killed by some other wild Pokémon in survival of the fittest type struggles where all parties involved acted out of pure instinct, but there's the possibility that Team Scorn may be involved as well."

"It's that demonic wild shiny Furret!" Carmine exclaimed, looking freaked out in the sense that she's scared, "It has killed before, and it will kill again!"

As the Paldean students all looked at Carmine with weirded out looks, Briar said, "Anyway, I think it's about time that our visitors from Paldea return home. Granted, there's still plenty of time to enjoy Kitakami as Naranja Academy is on a holiday, but the plane tickets are timed."

"Actually, Rimu's group here came with us on The Jelly-Filled Donut," Kenny said, "So they can stay with us until we leave. Unless any of them wanna return to Paldea immediately."

"Carmine, Kieran, and I will have to return to Blueberry Academy early," Briar said, "Sorry if you guys were hoping to keep hanging out with them."

"Just Kieran, if I'm being honest here," Rimu spoke up, "Speaking of, where is he?"

"He's being bratty," Carmine replied, "But don't you worry, I'll fix him yet."

Turning to look at Briar, Rimu said, "Please tell me you can see that something is up there."

"It's a thing between family, so it'd be inappropriate for me to intervene unless I catch one of them being physically violent on the other directly," Briar replied, "Anyway, I believe that Carmine has a few things she wanted to say."

Stepping forward, Carmine said, "Firstly, my little brother is being bratty right now, so it's just me here. Anyway, this village is where I was born. At first, I didn't want any outsiders coming in as I was worried that Mossui Town and Kitakami as a whole was going to be turned into nothing more than a tourist trap for a bunch of ignorant strangers."

"Well I did call my daddy back in Paldea to tell him all about what all I saw here," one of the spoiled brat rich legacy student girls spoke up, "He sounded so interested in what I told him that he's already making arrangements to have regular round trip tours between Paldea and Kitakami set up. Given how you poor, ignorant, backwards country bumpkins here in Kitakami need all of the income you can get, playing host to your betters from Paldea ought to lessen the strain on your wallets."

"Excuse me?!" Carmine exclaimed, "You guys are literally going to turn Kitakami into a tourist trap?! Damn it! My worries have just been wholly justified!"

"Putting that girl's rudeness aside, she does have a point Carmine," the caretaker said, "The funding that Kitakami can earn from increased tourism will help cover various expenses, such as repairing what all happened to the sign boards and the Shrine to the Loyal Three. Kitakami isn't exactly in any position to argue, although we will have to ask that the tourists refrain from being rude."

Carmine then exclaimed some random sounds in angrish before declaring she was running back home to get ready to return to Blueberry Academy. "I swear I'll have Shenron take her up into the atmosphere and drop her if she continues abusing Kieran," Kenny muttered under his breath.

...

Over at the house where Kieran's family lives, Kieran was alone in his room. "I need to become..." Kieran muttered, "...I need to become a lot stronger. Stronger. Stronger! Stronger and stronger and stronger!"

Settling down, Kieran flashed a bit of a smirk. Then he reached up to pull his hair back. "Just you wait, Kenny..." Kieran said to himself, before the scene faded to black.

Although the field trip was over, due to Naranja Academy having a holiday, those who were able to stay in Kitakami had the freedom to do so. That just applied to Rimu, Penny, Arven, and Nemona as their ride is The Jelly-Filled Donut. As such, the reborn trainers had time to track down and capture species of Pokémon exclusive to Kitakami.

This saw Trip and Kenny respectively catching two Applin and a Poltchageist, with the two Applin evolving into Dipplins when Trip used the appropriate Apples on them, and Poltchageist evolving into Sinsitcha when Kenny used a teacup he found on it. One of the Dipplins Trip caught displayed a move called Dragon Cheer, then promptly evolved into a Pokémon that the heroes later learned is called Hydrapple.

The reborn trainers, accompanied by Leona and Omiyo, had a picnic lunch outside in some grassy area due south of where the Timeless Woods was located in Kitakami. "So Kitakami is slated to be what Carmine feared it would become," Mina said, "And all because of some spoiled brat. Carmine already has issues, but that brat making Carmine's fears a reality only worsened things."

"I can see why Carmine is worried about outsiders coming in to crap all over everything here," Kenny said, "Also I can't help but feel like someone has it out for me."

"Now you're just being silly, Kenny," Trip said, "You need to-"

Trip was cut off by some bush rustling nearby, making him and the others all turn to face the rustling bush. After a few seconds, the heroes saw a wild Furret jump out from the bush. The heroes were surprised to see that the wild Furret is a shiny. Looking to the picnicking group, the wild shiny Furret said, "Furret." It's tone and expression were harmless and lacking any malice whatsoever.

However, Leona's trio of Mamoswine all made nervous, scared cries as they stepped back away from the wild shiny Furret. Similarly, both Omiyo's Granbull and shiny Bellibolt also made nervous, scared cries as they proceeded to hide behind Omiyo. "I got a feeling that this is the supposedly dangerous wild shiny Furret that Carmine was pissing herself in fright over," Kenny said, "But it's not giving off any hostile, violent, malicious airs."

Seeing that the wild shiny Furret was sniffing about the air at the picnic table, Dawn said, "I bet that the little one is just hungry and smelled the food we have." Dawn turned around to face the table, prepared some food, and brought the food in a dish, along with a dish of sweet drink, over to the wild shiny Furret. Setting the goods down in front of Furret, Dawn said, "You must be hungry, aren't you? Well go ahead, dig in."

The wild shiny Furret sniffed at the provided food, tried a bite and loved the taste, then immediately began to eat everything, before drinking up all of the drink. The Furret gave a happy cry of, "Furret!" before it nuzzled affectionately up against Dawn's left shin. It then perked up when it heard some noises coming from behind it in the direction of the Timeless Woods, so it immediately bounded away to see what was up.

After the wild shiny Furret was gone, Dawn turned to face the Pokémon that were scared. "See? There was nothing to fear," Dawn said, "It was just a surprise guest who wanted something to-"

"Yo Dawn, we just got a text from Heath," Trip said, "Some photographer chick is at The Jelly-Filled Donut wanting to take pictures of it, but Mitch won't let her as he thinks the photographer chick needs your permission to photograph the ship. I say that we pack up and go see what all of this is about." Dawn agreed, and after everything from the picnic was packed up, the heroes all headed back to The Jelly-Filled Donut.

...

When Dawn and her group arrived at The Jelly-Filled Donut, they saw Mitch, with his shiny Dedenne Den sitting on his left shoulder, arguing with a slender and attractive young adult woman who, to the surprise of the reborn trainers aside from Mina, resembled Adaman from Sinnoh's Hisuian period. Fair skinned, with sleek dark bluish hair in a bob cut also the ends of the hair were white, and she wore a tank top that was darkish over a whitish tank top that esposed her shoulders, light blue jeans held up with a belt, white shoes, and dark socks.

A strap went from her right shoulder to left waist, and attached to the strap was a photography camera. "Mitch must insist that the shutterbug lady wait until Captain Dawn gets back and says it's okay to photograph her flying ship," Mitch said.

"Oh come on," said the woman, "Just let me snap a few photos so I can-"

"Mitch is not afraid to confiscate the shutterbug lady's camera if she persists," Mitch said firmly, with Den squeaking out in agreement.

As the lady pouted, Dawn and the others came up. "Is this the lady that Heath texted us about?" Dawn called out, making both Mitch and the lady turn to face her and the others.

"Ah, Captain Dawn," Mitch said, "This lady here is a shutterbug who wants to take pictures of your vessel, but Mitch wasn't sure if she could do so without your consent."

Turning to look at the Adaman lookalike, Dawn remarked, "Well first off, I'd like to know what her name is. Assuming she's willing to share."

Nodding once, the photographer chick said, "That's fair. My name is Perrin, and I work out of a Sinnoh based news magazine as a photographer." Gesturing to Dawn, the now identified Perrin said, "The magazine I work for sent me here to Kitakami to get photos of the Festival of Masks, as they want to do a story in the next issue about Kitakami's Festival of Masks. However, on the day that I arrived in Kitakami, actually roughly an hour after I arrived, Team Scorn attacked at the shrine. I hid until I felt that the coast was clear, as I haven't heard any talk of Team Scorn activity since."

"Oh yeah, the lads and I were at the shrine when Team Scorn attacked," Kenny said, "We drove them off successfully, but heard bits that Team Scorn was planning to use Kitakami as testing grounds for some plan that we have no details on."

Perrin smirked in amusement. "Well that goes without saying, given that your group is Sinnoh Champion Dawn Berlitz and her companions," Perrin remarked, "That being said, maybe you guys can help me with investigating a certain rumor."

"The aforementioned Team Scorn shenanigans?" Mina guessed.

Gently shaking her head, Perrin said, "No, rumors of a monster resembling an Ursaluna, a species of evolved Ursaring from the Hisuian period of Sinnoh's history, residing in the Timeless Woods. That evolution of Ursaring had died out, and the method of evolving Ursaring into Ursaluna has been lost to time. If this monster resembling an Ursaluna somehow is an actual Ursaluna, it'd be a boon for the study and research of Sinnoh's Hisuian period."

"A possible Ursaluna living in modern times?" Trip said. Aside from Moista Fista who was able to evolve into Ursaluna due to time travel shenanigans, there ought to be no Ursalunas living in the modern times. If this supposed monster is real, and what's more it's actually an Ursaluna, then the reborn trainers are gonna wanna catch it.

Gesturing to Perrin, Dawn said, "Fair enough. What do we do to track down this supposed Ursaluna?"

"We need to wait until night, then search the Timeless Woods," Perrin said, "But it'll be dangerous, especially as it's yet to be confirmed that Team Scorn has left Kitakami. Only the best of your group ought to go to protect me so I can snap some photos of the Bloodmoon Beast."

"Bloodmoon Beast?" Dawn said questioningly.

"One of the names for the monster resembling an Ursaluna," Perrin explained. Given the time of day, it was getting late, so Dawn, with just the other reborn trainers, agreed to take Perrin to the Timeless Woods to hunt for the Bloodmoon Beast. Dawn told Mitch and the others that they'll get back by, at the latest, early the next morning. The group then flew off on dragon back for the Timeless Woods, with Perrin being allowed to ride on Villetta's back by Villetta itself.

Later in the Timeless Woods, the reborn trainers and Perrin looked around as the darkness of night had fully settled. "Ehh?" Perrin said, "You guys caught a group of Pokémon known as the Loyal Three, and Kenny caught something called Ogrepon?"

"We came here to look for and catch species of Pokémon unique to Kitakami to help further the research of various professors," Dawn explained, "Mainly Jacq of Naranja Academy. But we weren't expecting Pokémon that existed only in a local story."

"Dawn, we catch legendary and mythical Pokémon on average a few times per story arc," Kenny said, "Why would us catching the Loyal Three and me catching Ogrepon be a surprise?"

Looking confused, Perrin said, "Per story arc?"

"Kenny's weird like that, just ignore him when he gets like that," Trip said. As the group looked around, Trip said, "So what all do you know about the monster resembling an Ursaluna, a monster you said is also known as the Bloodmoon Beast?"

"...Well it walks on its hind legs," Perrin said, "It's caked here and there in mud that's hardened to the point it's permanent armor, it's got a big red dot on its forehead-"

"-And it's not gonna save you because I'm here with some of the lads!" a female voice called out, cutting Perrin off and making her and the reborn trainers look around in surprise.

"Tawny, I'm the Officer here!" a male voice replied to the female voice, "Not to mention your direct superior! If anything, you should have let me call out to surprise those would be heroes!" The reborn trainers and Perrin then took steps back out of surprise when Captain Quaid and his Captain's Assistant Tawny, both of Team Scorn's Katana Sector, came out to greet them with enough Team Scorn grunts to outnumber all of the good guys two to one.

"Figures that Team Scorn didn't fully leave Kitakami yet," Perrin scoffed, "What are you bastards doing here?!"

Gesturing to himself, Quaid said, "Team Scorn is gearing up for its biggest move yet as we inch ever closer to our ultimate end goal, and to make sure said big move goes off without a hitch, we're going to prep Kitakami to use as a testing grounds." Taking out a Pokéball, Quaid went on, "But then you would be heroes had to butt in on Team Scorn business. So now we're going to have to send all of you packing so we can get back to work on-"

Quaid was cut off when he and everyone else heard rustling in the distance, along with quickened stomping as if something large and heavy was stampeding towards where all of the humans were at. Then, to the surprised fright of the humans, a large Ursaluna on its hind legs and it was caked in mud here and there that was hardened into permanent armor came barreling into the scene.

The members of Team Scorn all cried out in panic as they backed up while prepping to send out Pokémon to fight off the unique Ursaluna, but Dawn said, "Hold it, Team Scorn!" Due to panic, Team Scorn actually listened to Dawn. "Take a look at this Pokémon's face," Dawn said while pointing to the Bloodmoon Ursaluna, "It's clearly panicking." True enough, the Bloodmoon Ursaluna had a look of frightened panic on its face.

As the Bloodmoon Ursaluna looked over its shoulder to see if whatever it was running from was following it, Trip said, "Hey wait, this Pokémon is big, strong looking, and scary in and of itself. That being said, what's got it running for the hills with its tail between its-"

Trip was cut off when some rustling came from the bushes that the Bloodmoon Ursaluna burst out from, making the Bloodmoon Ursaluna turn around and walk backwards to back away from what it was running for its life from. Indeed, all eyes were on the rustling bush, many nervous because of what could possibly have something like the Bloodmoon Ursaluna running scared. What that thing was soon popped out of the rustling bush, but many were surprised by what it was.

It was a wild shiny Furret. Seeing all of the humans, the wild shiny Furret said, "Furret," in a friendly tone of greeting. It looked as happy, calm, and innocent as the average Furret, the only thing setting this Furret from others of its species is that it's a shiny.

"Hey, I think that's the same wild shiny Furret from earlier," Mina said, "Leona's trio of Mamoswine and both of Omiyo's Pokémon Granbull and Bellibolt were quaking in fear of it! And now the big guy here with us is trying to run away from it!" Indeed, the Bloodmoon Ursaluna was wanting to run from the wild shiny Furret, but all escape routes were blocked off for it.

"I still think it's ridiculous to be scared of a Furret," Trip remarked, unimpressed by Furret as a potential scary monster.

Smiling in calm acceptance, Dawn said, "I bet the little one there is just searching around for more food." Calling out to the wild shiny Furret, Dawn said, "Are you hungry again, sweetie?"

"Furret Furret!" the wild shiny Furret cried out in a happy tone of agreement, its focus now on Dawn who it recognized as the nice human girl who gave it food and sweet drink earlier.

"Yeah, this ain't the time for eating and drinking, would be heroes!" one random male Team Scorn grunt said challengingly, "We're going to be beating down on all of you to send you all packing for the hills!" Pointing right at Dawn, the male Team Scorn grunt went on, "And I think that I'll start with the little missy here with the white hat!"

Seeing the male Team Scorn grunt point at Dawn while threatening her, the wild shiny Furret turned to look at the offending grunt. "Furret," said the wild shiny Furret, its tone and expression never changing from its happy, usual style. The wild shiny Furret then stuck its butt in the air and shook it a bit, as if Furret were a feline Pokémon getting ready to pounce.

Seeing what the wild shiny Furret was doing, Tawny scoffed incredulously. "Oh no, the cuddliest being here is going to pounce," Tawny said, her tone laced with amused sarcasm, "Whatever are we going to-"

*AAARRRUUU*

With a single leap, the wild shiny Furret flew at the Team Scorn grunt who was threatening Dawn and immediately proceeded to maul him in the throat, tearing a (fairly big) chunk out of his jugular in the process before spitting the torn out chunk of jugular aside. "HOLY FUCK!" Tawny exclaimed, immediately freaking out as were Quaid and the other present Team Scorn members who weren't having their jugulars torn out.

Even the reborn trainers and Perrin were surprised as well as mildly unsettled, especially as the wild shiny Furret leapt off of the doomed Team Scorn grunt when his body fell over onto the ground. A second male Team Scorn grunt was able to collect his fallen comrade and carry his body away as all of Team Scorn ran away. Although it wasn't how they expected to send Team Scorn packing, the heroes saw that Team Scorn was nonetheless sent packing.

And by a wild shiny Furret who mauled one of their members to death. Speaking of, the wild shiny Furret looked up at Dawn, blood costing its muzzle and lower jaw. "Furret," the wild shiny Furret said, its tone and expression still the same happy friendly manner it always is. It then walked up to Dawn and rubbed its body against her legs.

"I... I think that Furret here killed that Team Scorn guy because he was directly threatening you with violence," Perrin said, trying to settle down.

"Furret... obviously is fond of my sister because she freely fed it some food earlier," Trip said, "Maybe it acted to protect someone it was fond of."

"...If this is the same Furret that Carmine is scared of, I wanna catch it," Dawn said, "That way, I can freak her out to make her pay for being a bitch towards Kieran." Looking down at the wild shiny Furret, Dawn asked, "So how about it, Furret? Wanna join my team? There will be more food and drink like what I gave you earlier in it for you if-"

"Furret!" cheered the wild shiny Furret, nuzzling its head against Dawn's right leg and getting some blood on it. Dawn then took out a Luxury Ball and used it to capture the wild shiny Furret.

After Furret was caught, Dawn said, "Okay, now we just need to deal with the Ursaluna behind us so we can-" Dawn stopped short when the Bloodmoon Ursaluna prostrated itself before Dawn, crying out in acknowledgement suggesting that it saw Dawn as the Apex. "This... works too," Dawn said, as she was able to get the Bloodmoon Ursaluna to agree to let her catch it. Dawn used a Luxury Ball for catching the Bloodmoon Ursaluna as well.

"Let's head back to your flying ship," Perrin said, "We did just get out of an encounter with Team Scorn, and you caught the Bloodmoon Beast. You can just have it pose for me so I can take photos of it for my work." Dawn nodded in agreement, and she plus the other reborn trainers and Perrin all left the Timeless Woods.

The next morning outside of the community center, Dawn called out her newly caught Ursaluna and shiny Furret. "Since you two are my Pokémon now, I'm going to be giving you nicknames," Dawn said to her newest catches.

Folding his arms over his chest, Trip said, "Well what will you name your Ursaluna?"

"Well it's a boy for starters," Dawn began, "And he's also known as the Bloodmoon Beast, so there's only one name that fits for him." Looking to her Bloodmoon Ursaluna, Dawn said, "I'm going to be naming you Solstheim." The now dubbed Solstheim gave an agreeing roar.

Gesturing to Dawn's shiny Furret that he and the others saw kill a man the previous night, Kenny asked, "And what will you name this little one who's violently protective of you?"

"Furret," said Dawn's shiny Furret.

Looking at her shiny Furret, Dawn said, "Well he's really cute, so I'm feeling giving him a cute sounding nickname is the way to go here." Looking at her (potentially homicidal) shiny Furret, Dawn said, "I'm going to be naming you Muffin." Smiling gently at the now dubbed Moopsy, Dawn said, "Here's to working with you, Muffin."

Muffin blinked a few times, ending on a slow blink after which he kept his eyes open. Looking up at his trainer, the named shiny Furret said, "Muffin."

Everyone looked at Muffin with more surprise than they did when they saw him maul a Team Scorn grunt to death the previous night. "Did..." Mina began, "...Did Muffin just say something aside from the name of its species?"

As the reborn trainers and Perrin looked at Muffin in surprise, Rimu and his group came walking up. Penny was eating from a bag of cookies and cream dust coated marshmallows with cookies and cream fillings, and Arven was forcefully escorting a guilty looking Nemona. "Umm, yeah," Rimu said, "Hey Kenny and friends, me as well as Penny, Arven, and Nemona are ready to head on back to Paldea now. Apparently the locals don't like losing nonstop to Nemona in Pokémon battles."

"Rimu, dude," Kenny said, "Dawn caught a shiny Furret that just said its nickname that Dawn gave it. She also caught a unique Ursaluna, but the shiny Furret just said something aside from the name of its species."

Looking to where Muffin stood, Penny asked, "What did you name your Furret, Dawn?"

"I named him Muffin," Dawn said.

"Muffin," said the named shiny Furret.

Rimu and his friends all looked surprised. "...Hey Rimu buddy," Arven said, "Wouldn't it be something if Dawn's Furret here is the same shiny Furret that your friend Kieran said his older sister Carmine is scared of?"

"We... have reason to believe it is," Mina said, before she told Rimu's group the story about how Dawn caught both Muffin and Solstheim. "...Leading us to believe that it had acted to protect Dawn due to how she fed it a short while beforehand," Mina said.

Folding his arms over his chest, Rimu said, "Well... well there HAVE been stories of Pokémon protecting humans they're fond of from threats including other humans. But this is the first that I heard of a Pokémon killing a human to protect another human, at least while the Pokémon in question is still wild."

"I don't think he acted out of malice," Penny said, "Someone he cared about was being threatened, so he decided to get rid of the threat." Smiling gently, Penny said, "I think he's just being sweet, although hopefully Dawn will keep him from killing in the future." Penny then asked Dawn if it would be okay to give Muffin one of her special marshmallows, to which Dawn not only consented but asked for one herself when Penny said they're cookies and cream flavored.

Muffin happily gobbled up the treat, then gave a yawn and curled up on the ground on Dawn's left. After that, Dawn recalled Muffin and Solstheim, then she and everyone else got on board of The Jelly-Filled Donut, with Perrin going along as she said she had mistakenly didn't get a round trip ticket so she needed a lift back to Sinnoh. Traveling with the crew of The Jelly-Filled Donut would also give her a chance to snap some more photos of Solstheim.

With that, the adventures that the crew of The Jelly-Filled Donut had in the land of Kitakami had just drawn to a successful close.

END, CHAPTER THREE-HUNDRED AND SIX

Author's notes;

This chapter wraps up the shenanigans in Kitakami, seeing the heroes catch all of new Pokémon introduced in Kitakami, with Trip also getting a sneak peak at the shenanigans that will be going on in the Indigo Disk. The heroes also meet the shiny Furret that Carmine has been soiling herself in fright over, then they meet Perrin and agree to help her with the Bloodmoon DLC -err- I mean the Bloodmoon Beast.

Over in the Timeless Woods, the reborn trainers and Perrin are confronted by a group of Team Scorn members led by Captain Quaid and his Captain's Assistant Tawny, but soon the Bloodmoon Beast, which is a variant Ursaluna, came stampeding in to get away from whatever was following it, which turned out to be the shiny Furret from earlier. The shiny Furret then killed a Team Scorn grunt it saw threatening Dawn, making Team Scorn flee.

Dawn then catches both the Bloodmoon Ursaluna and the shiny Furret, with Furret somehow having the ability to say the nickname that Dawn gave it. The next morning, the crew of The Jelly-Filled Donut is prepping to leave Kitakami, and with good timing as Perrin needs a lift back to Sinnoh and Rimu's group needs to leave because Nemona had upset the locals. What will be covered next will be seen next time. Until then, take care.
