Cyclizar is often considered by outsiders to be an underwhelming species which does not live up to its prehistoric ancestor, but to Paldeans, it is a beloved friend and an inescapable part of daily life. One of the region's first domesticated pokemon, Cyclizar appear so close in time in the fossil record to their depiction in cave art that some scientists have speculated that the species is truly a domesticated Koraidon. But it is hard to believe that any neolithic people could have domesticated a legendary pokemon, no matter how great their fondness for human cooking.
It is the great antiquity of this pokemon's association with humans that explains one of the region's most curious customs, that of "parking your 'zar". Although the pavement is modern, the devotion of large, well-lit areas of urban space to these pokemon (and indeed, some of the lots themselves) go back to the beginning of Paldean archaeology. Cyclizar spend their time between rides recharging and basking in the sun, while their trainers go about their business separately.
It is of course true that Cyclizar are pokemon, and can therefore be safely stored in pokeballs; although most Cyclizar balk at going into them, they are not immune to a Luxury Ball's charms. But Paldeans do not always conceptualize them that way; indeed, many who use these pokemon for transportation do not hold a trainer's license at all. Cyclizar lots are less common than in the old days, but even trainers who carry one on their team will often park them outdoors before going into restaurants or pokemarts, just like their parents before them – and their ancestors going back many more generations.
