There was a major comic con and charity event in Charter City know as Charter Comic Con Charity. Many people of all ages attends he event and a few celebrities in both the comic industry and movie industry made appearances at the event to sign autographs, answer questions, and help raise money for charity.
Peter was at the event taking pictures for the paper he worked at.
Jake, Nathan, Ricardo, Riya, and Erika were also at the event just to have some fun.
Brick and Mortar were at the event to get autographs, take pictures with celebrities, collect some merchandise, and meet the creator of Scarlet Spinner, Stan Lee.
Jake and his friends were walking through the crowd and stands looking at all the people and merchandise, when Nathan spotted Peter taking pictures.
"Hey I think that might be that photographer my Grandpa mentioned." Said Nathan.
"The one who takes pictures of Spider-Man?" Asked Ricardo.
"Yeah, I think his name is Peter Parker." Said Nathan.
"Didn't he arrive in town the same time as Spider-Man and eventually got a job taking pictures of him at the Charter Chronicle?" Asked Jake.
"He did, so what are you getting at?" Asked Nathan.
"I think Peter could be Spider-Man." Said Jake.
"What? No way." Said Ricardo.
"It is possible. Peter looks about the same height and build as Spider-Man." Said Riya.
"And people aren't always what they seem." Erika.
"That's true." Said Nathan.
The little group decided to head over to Peter and talk to him.
"Hi you must be Peter, my name is Nathan Park, I think you met my grandpa at the Charter Chronicle." Said Nathan.
"Oh yeah I remember meeting him. Nice guy and nice to meet you." Said Peter as he and Nathan shook hands.
Introductions were made for the rest of the group.
"So the paper has you covering this event?" Asked Jake.
"They do. Got to make a living somehow." Said Peter.
"Well it was nice meeting and I hope you get some good shots that pay well." Said Jake.
"Thanks." Said Peter with a smile before heading off to take some more pictures.
"He seems nice enough, but I'm not sure if he's Spider-Man." Said Jake.
"Oh well, will figure that out later." Said Ricardo.
The friends headed off to enjoy the event.
Elsewhere Brick and Mortar were eagerly waiting in line to meet Stan Lee and get his autograph. They reached the table, where they met the legendary comic hero creator. Stan Lee was an older man with white hair, mustache, and glasses. He wore a simple plaid shirt and some slacks.
"Hello there true believers." Said Stan Lee giving the two men a friendly smile.
"Oh Stan Lee it is an honor to meet you!" Said Brick.
"We love the Scarlet Spinner and all your works!" Said Mortar.
"I bet. Always happy to meet a fan." Said Stan Lee as he signed some autographs.
"Can you say the catchphrase?" Asked Brick.
"Excelsior!" Said Stan Lee.
"Oh thanks that really made our day!" Said Mortar with excitement.
"Glad I did." Said Stan Lee as the two excited fans walked away.
The event was in full swing as people donated money into a large clear plastic box and everyone was having a good time, when one of the walls suddenly exploded and in stormed Simmons wearing armor and big gauntlets that glowed red with fiery energy followed by a couple dozen armed goons.
"Listen up! The names Scorcher and this is my crew. Just gives us the charity money and all your valuables and no one gets burned!" Said Simmons.
The crowd immediately began to do as they were told as Peter, Jake, Nathan, Ricardo, and Riya quickly snuck off and changed into their superhero gear. Scorcher walked onto the stage where the charity money was and was about to claim it, when Spider-Man suddenly hopped on to the stage.
"Sorry hot stuff, but that's not how charity works." Said Spider-Man.
"Spider-Man! I'll burn you to a crisp bug!" Yelled Scorcher as he began throwing fireballs at the hero making him dodge around to avoid getting hit.
The goons were fixing to join in, when Stretch, Omni-Mass, Wingspan, and Blindstrike swooped in and began to attack the goons making short work of them.
"Best comic con ever!" Said Mortar to Brick as they watched the action.
Scorcher quickly realized things weren't going in his favor, so he flung a few fireballs at the calling above forcing the heroes to quickly focus on saving the civilians. Stretch stretched his limbs and pulled Stan Lee away from some falling ruble and Spider-Man swooped in and saved Brick and Mortar from being crushed. As the heroes worked on saving civilians Scorcher raced to the hole he had created, when his crew had entered.
"He's getting away!" Called Spider-Man.
"Here I'll help you catch him!" Said Stretch as he grabbed a couple of pillars and began to stretch himself back like a slingshot.
Spider-Man hopped in and Stretch let himself go sending Spider-Man flying at Scorcher. The criminal glanced back as Spider-Man collided with his back knocking him to the ground. Spider-Man quickly webbed up Scorcher's gauntlets and delivered a swift punch to his job knocking him out. The spider theme hero got up and looked back at the Flex Fighters and Blindstrike.
"Nice working with you. Catch you guys around later!" Said Spider-Man before he swung off.
"He's a pretty cool guy." Commented Wingspan.
The other heroes quickly disappeared from the scene, before the authorities arrived along with some news crews to get interviews. Stan Lee was one of the main people who got interviewed.
"I think people have been getting the wrong impression of the Flex Fighters. They're not criminals they're heroes in my book." Said Stan Lee.
"What makes you say that?" Asked a reporter.
"My hero definition is this. A hero someone who is concerned about other people's well-being and will go out of his or her way to help them–even if there is no chance of a reward. The Flex Fighters, along with Blindstrik and Spider-Man are true heroes in my book. They protected everyone here including myself. They have great power and with that power comes great responsibility. I think everyone who was rescued here today can agree with me on that." Said Stan Lee.
And with that rescue and interview the people of Charter City began to question the narrative Rook had created for the Flex Fighters as public opinion began to slowly change.
To be continued.
