Baby Mikaelson

Chapter Twelve: When in Vegas

Caroline Forbes

As soon as I entered the hotel lobby I immediately began looking for the others, even for the early morning hour the lobby was already buzzing with guests and staff. I spotted Rebekah first, I was jealous of her fur coat but even more of her black stilettos with the gold chunk chain, if we were friends I would borrow those items immediately. She was standing at the check in desk with Elijah, I listened at a distance as the hotel staff stationed at the desk explained about all their requests being taken care of for their arrival.

Behind me the doors opened and a little breeze pushed my hair forward, I turned to find Klaus at my back. I immediately turned away from him and made my way towards Rebekah who looked over her shoulder at the sound of my heels on the marble floor.

"Where is he?" Elijah asked Rebekah as I stopped behind them.

Rebekah looked over in the direction of Kol and rolled her eyes.

"Across the lobby"

Klaus joined us then joining Elijah as Rebekah and I walked towards the elevators together. When we stopped she turned to face me and immediately placed her fingers to her lips and to her ear before her eyes travelled back to her brothers. She didn't want to risk them overhearing anything I had to say. We both knew what I wanted to talk about most, but it would have to wait.

"Have you been to this hotel before?" I asked her

Rebekah's eyes met mine, unimpressed by my efforts to engage in small talk with her, but with a small smile on my part, her shoulders dropped in defeat.

"No, not this one. But I did visit Vegas once with Nik, back in nineteen eighteen"

I nodded "Has it changed much?" I bit my lip and Rebekah almost smiled at another pathetic joke of mine.

I looked around for the staff who had our bags but couldn't spot any of them.

"Where have they taken our bags?"

"They'll take them downstairs first, have our clothes washed and pressed. We'll have them back within the next few hours"

"Seriously? I didn't know hotels did that"

"They don't, but we aren't their typical guests"

"We aren't above people, Rebekah"

"I never claimed to be, but I am on vacation with my family, for the first time in a long, long time"

Our eyes met.

"I'm planning to enjoy every moment, that includes being spoiled"

It was my turn to hold back my smile then.

Elijah came towards us then handing us gold key cards.

"We're staying in the Villa, top floor" He explained "The elevator at the end of the hall is ours for the week, we'll join you shortly"

Elijah turned to leave us.

"Where are you going?" Rebekah asked him.

"To a card game, Klaus and Kol are joining me"

"It's six a.m"

Elijah smiled at his sister before giving me a nod and returning to his brothers across the lobby. I looked to Klaus, but he did not meet my eyes, he was laughing with his brothers, I'd never seen him laugh like that, he was almost human.

"Shall we?"

I joined Rebekah as we walked to the end of the hall to the elevator marked private, she used the key card Elijah had given her and swiped it on the keypad to gain entry to it. We stepped inside and I immediately sat down on the white leather sofa inside. Rebekah looked over her shoulder at me and

I shrugged.

"Pretty woman"

She looked away from me.

"You okay?" I dared to ask

"I'm fine" She answered a little too quickly.

"Did you tell your brother about it?"

"Not yet, but I will"

I got up from the sofa and walked around her until we faced each other.

"I could tell him" I offered

Rebekah looked away from me and nodded her head before the elevator doors opened behind me. I turned around to find they opened up to a large sitting room with wall to wall windows giving us a view of what appeared to be the entire city.

"Seriously?" I immediately ran the best I could in heels all the way to them.

The sky was still a beautiful orange and the lights of the city matched with the beautiful morning sky perfectly.

"This is amazing"

"Well, of course we have Nik to thank. He arranged it all"

"I would have guessed Elijah"

"Drink?" Rebekah asked

I looked over my shoulder to her as she stood in the corner of the room at a private bar area, fully stocked too by the looks of it.

I headed over to her and slowly took a seat on one of the dark wooden stools as she poured us a glass of white wine each.

"Have you taken a test?" I asked her out of the blue.

"That didn't take long"

"I thought maybe since you gave me that message that-"

"I took it on the plane I couldn't wait any longer"

As she poured a glass she looked at me then back to the glass.

Her silence was the answer.

"I'm sorry" I told her

Rebekah tucked her hair back and picked up a glass taking a large sip before settling it down softly on the glass counter top beside mine.

"First pregnancy test I ever took"

"Me too"

She drummed her nails against the counter and I picked up my glass and took a sip. Yes it was morning but like she said, we were on vacation. Besides, the conversation, the reality was horrible.

Neither of us were pregnant.

"What do you think your brother will make of all of this?"

"I doubt it will be the strangest thing he's over heard in a thousand years but, it might make the top ten"

"You didn't answer my question"

Our eyes met after Rebekah took another sip of her wine.

"Are you scared of his reaction?"

"I didn't say that"

Rebekah drummed her fingers against the glass still in her hand "He probably won't care"

I was so shocked that I actually leaned back in my chair which didn't escape her notice.

"Ohh, you thought he'd think of a new level of hybrids?"

I shook my head "I was worried for Elena" I told her and took a sip.

"My brother is a beast but he's not a monster. He'd never think to do anything to Elena in that way"

"I never meant he would do anything, I thought maybe he'd go after any future doppelgangers down the line" I shrugged "It's not likely she'll give birth to a doppelganger, if she even decides to have a baby. I don't know her plans"

"I know" Rebekah said and began to pour herself another glass of wine.

"What does that mean?"

"It means I'm not blind nor stupid. Anyone with a brain stem can see none of you are on speaking terms. So what happened? Were you not invited to their little tea party?"

"Do you care?"

Rebekah met my eyes and shook her head.

I took another sip of my wine.

After we finished the bottle together, Rebekah opened another and we filled both our glasses before taking them with us to walk around the villa.

There were six bedrooms in total, all of grand size, with en suite closets and bathrooms. Each bathroom had a walk in shower and large tub in the centre, all of the features golden, all of the walls a different shade of white. There was a TV room, a game room, another private bar, a roof top pool area with a hot tub, a sauna and a gym room.

It wasn't long after our tour that staff arrived with our luggage and under Rebekah's instruction on which luggage went to which room the work was quickly done. Rebekah tipped each staff member well and one of the hotel managers was quick to arrive after the unpacking was complete.

He had wanted to meet with Klaus since apparently they had spoken on the phone already. He welcomed Rebekah and I to the hotel and gave us our VIP passes to the neighbouring clubs and the contact information of our drivers for the week. Rebekah thanked him for his efforts and after exchanging a look with me across the room she had requested a spa package be booked for them at noon which the manager never even blinked to before agreeing to it.

After he left Rebekah made her way to the room she picked out for herself and I decided to do the same. I had found a room at the end of one of the halls upstairs that I had liked, to my surprise it was the same room Rebekah had the staff place my luggage in. I unzipped my luggage and headed to the wardrobe to hang up all my freshly washed items.

I opened the closet to find there wasn't any room for my stuff, someone else's clothes were already inside.

"Wow" I whispered softly at the beautiful sight before me.

Beautiful full length gowns in all manner of colours and designs, pearl, baby blue, teal, princess cut, mermaid, plunged necklines, they were all so perfect. There were dress trousers, jeans, even work out clothes. Blouses, coats, hats, sunglasses.

I headed out the room and ran down the hall at vamp speed and knocked on Rebekah's door before entering. She had changed into grey shorts and a white tank top and was getting into bed as I entered.

"What?"

"Are those your clothes in my room?" I asked

"No. I'm guessing its the work of my brother. He's done the same for me"

Klaus? Klaus did this for us? It was just for me I wouldn't have thought anything more to it then he was trying to get into my pants but he'd done it for sister too. He'd given us a whole new wardrobe for our vacation. He really was totally and completely unpredictable.

"Goodnight" I said and watched Rebekah flick a switch on her nightstand

I watched as the black out curtains descended down over the windows, secretly hoping my room had the same feature.

I headed down the hall to return to my room when I heard footsteps from downstairs and quickly made my way down, tracking the sound to the elevators. I stopped in front of them and a staff member entered carrying a red leather jewellery box with gold trim. Before they could speak I placed my finger to my lips before using my other hand to point upstairs. They smiled and nodded their head before handing me the box and waving goodbye.

I took the box surprised by the weight and waited for the elevator doors to close.

I opened it without thought nor pause.

Inside was a folded piece of paper which I took into one hand before looking down to discover a white gold necklace with blue sapphires.

"Klaus" I whispered and immediately went to work opening the note.

Day 1

What have I done?

Klaus Mikaelson

I downed the last of the scotch in my glass as the dealer counted up our total. Between Elijah and I Kol slept, face down on the table. We compelled the dealer to ignore Kol as we had attempted to ignore his snoring.

"Congratulations gentlemen, a total of four hundred fifteen thousand dollars"

"Excellent" Elijah said without battering an eye as I stood up from my chair.

"Have everything it taken care of, we're staying in the presidential villa"

"Yes Sir"

Elijah stood up and put on his suit jacket as I gave Kol a shake to awaken him. He got up to his feet and shoved his hands into the pockets of his long coat walking between Elijah and I as we headed up for the lobby.

"How much did you win?" Kol asked after a larger than life yawn.

"Four hundred thousand, not bad for a few hours work" Elijah told him adjusting his tie

"So what are the big plans for tonight? The first night"

"I'll leave the arrangements to you, brother" I told him

"Nothing planned?"

"After you see the villa I had them prepare you'll see my efforts towards this holiday"

"Fine" Kol agreed

Elijah swiped the card for the elevator and we headed inside.

"I have my doubts about Miss Forbes joining us here, Niklaus"

I shook my head.

"He has a point, Nik. She is part of that little scooby squad"

"I have my own reasons for having her here" I told them

"I'm sure" Kol sniggered

"Maybe attempt to act your age, Kol" Elijah told him

The elevator doors opened and all three of us paused finding Rebekah standing on the other side in a white robe and slippers, her hair clipped back at the back of her head.

"Plans sister?" Elijah asked stepping out first followed by Kol.

"I'm going to the spa, taking Nik's little friend with me" Rebekah said as I past by her exchanging a look.

"Has our luggage arrived?" Elijah asked

"Upstairs"

Kol and Elijah headed off together as I turned around to face her pushing my hands into my coat pockets.

"Don't worry Nik. I won't hurt her"

"I never said anything"

"You didn't have to"

"Where is she?"

"On her way"

Rebekah smirked "She likes her wardrobe"

"Enough" I warned her

"Don't be mean, we're on holiday"

I stepped towards her "If you think you can use her to get under my skin"

"I'm not using her. I told you, she helped me. That's why she's here"

Upstairs I heard approaching footsteps which only made me step towards Rebekah and close the gap between us as I leaned forward to whisper in her ear.

"I know everything"

Elena Gilbert

I awoke next to a sleeping Damon in the dead of night, my hair sticking to my forehead from sweat. I leaned up from my pillow and closed my eyes reliving my dream.

"What would you do if I kissed you right now" He asked, stepping towards me "Would you stop me?"

I opened my eyes and looked over at Damon who slept peacefully completely unaware that I had dreamt about another man.

That I had dreamt about Shane.
