This one has been a long time coming! Well okay, since the summer of this year but I have been eager to put this out being the big Doctor Who fan that I am. Well at least the first part because originally, this was going to be one and done but given advice Ben2Dartmouth gave me during New Discoveries, I realized this was going to be too big and I wouldn't have enough time that for something like thus given the short vignette format, I had to split it into three parts.
However, I had to omit the War Doctor and the 14th Doctor as for the former, I had no ideas with him and I think he may be too important for a very short vignette. The latter, the impression I get from the three upcoming specials that there might not be breathing room.
So as it stands, part one is the Fugitive Doctor to the Fourth. Part two being five to nine and finally, ten to thirteen and fifteen.
But either way, it's the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who and this is my love letter to the series.
So without further Ado, here is part one and I hope you enjoy! And here's to another 60 years of the actual good Doctor!
"You want the whole universe. Someone who has seen it all, and that's me. I've lived longer, seen more, loved more, and lost more. I can share it all with you, anything you want to know about what you never had."
- The Thirteenth Doctor, It Takes You Away
"No time to be tired. Still work to do out there. Lives at stake. Armies being born. People need the Doctor."
- The Fugitive Doctor, The Timeless Children
"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace. We've got work to do."
- The Seventh Doctor, Survival
"I am Uatu, The Watcher. Throughout time and space, throughout the multiverse; there are always heroes. Heroes come in all forms. Human or otherwise.
The Doctor is a special kind of hero. One who has lived for thousands if not millions of years. And yet, no one seems to know who The Doctor is or where they came from. Not even The Doctor knows. While the founders of Gallifrey saw The Doctor as nothing more than a source of power and someone to control, to abuse even; The Doctor set upon their own path and became the hero they chose to be. Without the help of their companions, The Doctor would not be the hero today.
Throughout the timelines from the very earliest to the current, I have seen throughout the multiverse of the Doctor's heroics. These are the stories. This is the Legacy of the Doctor…"
Unknown Earth - Fugitive Doctor
It seemed like a relatively quiet day. Out in the desert quarry where nothing seemed eventful was happening.
Except everything was in monochrome black and white.
"Did you find it yet?" Asked a dark brown skinned woman with long braided hair, who wore a blue blazer, blue pants and black boots.
"Doc, the world is literally in black and white." Sighed a young Chinese-American girl with pink shades, a black and pink coat and boots with a yellow jacket. "How a golden ticket is this hard to find is beyond me!"
The two women were searching around the desert quarry near a cave-right now on top of a hill. The Doctor, Jubilee and Hawkeye earlier had been transported to the exact movie they were watching in an old movie theater in New York with Jake Redfire left behind when he was getting snacks from the concession stand. The choice of movie being of all things, a B-Movie from 1953 entitled Robot Monster.
It was supposed to be a fun and simple night at the movies but the Golden Ticket they were given turned out be some kind of magic. Or at least to Jubilee and Hawkeye. To the Doctor, the ticket had psychokinetic energy that would act as a transporter between worlds when activated.
The trio searched high and low throughout the film they were sucked into for the ticket that had somehow gotten lost during the trip.
"It can't be that hard to find." The Doctor said.
"Doc, again. Black and white." Jubilee stared at the Time Lord with a blank expression on her face that said, "Are you serious?"
Jubilee then added, "The ticket is like literally trying to find a hay in a haystack!"
"It'll still stand out given the text printed on." The Doctor pointed out.
"Whatever you say, Doc." Jubilee sighed as she and the Doctor continued to look for the ticket.
"Ladies!" Cried out Hawkeye, armed with his bow and arrow ready as he rushed back to them. "I think our alien friend isn't done with us!"
The two women looked at the incoming being walking toward them as it left the cave. A creature in an ape body with an old school scuba diver's helmet as a head with a TV antenna around it.
The creature stomped toward them upon catching them on sight.
"Stop!" The alien monster named Ro-Man exclaimed.
"Keep finding the ticket, I'll go off on him." The Doctor ordered Jubilee.
The Doctor marched down just as Hawkeye fired another arrow to which the Ro-Man caught and broke in half much to his chagrin.
"We're bound to the rules of this movie, it's not gonna work." The Doctor rolled her eyes at the archer.
"What are you going to do, talk to it?" Hawkeye sardonically asked.
"Yes!" The Doctor answered seriously.
"I was just kidding!!" Hawkeye shouted in an exasperated manner.
The Doctor, unafraid, finally went face to face with Ro-Man, the monster of the film.
"Alright, what's your deal?" The Doctor sternly asked the creature.
"Well, there is a human female I'm attracted to." Ro-Man admitted sheepishly.
"Excuse me?" The Doctor raised her eyebrow.
"For you see, this human named Alice." Ro-Man began to explain. "There is something about her, her humanity, I have...feelings. But my master said-"
"I'm going to stop you right there." The Doctor interrupted-holding her forefinger high. "First, forget what your master told you."
"But-"
"Second, date the girl first at least." She continued on. "Find something in common first before you decide it's true love. But approach her reasonably. Not stomping around like a monster."
As the Doctor lectured Ro-Man, Jubilee thought her search for the ticket was in vain. That was, until she noticed she stepped on what seemed like paper.
She looked down at one of her boots and to her relief despite the black and white monochrome filter, she saw it was indeed the golden ticket she was looking for given the printing as the Doctor said.
"You can't be from another planet, you look human!" Ro-Man shouted.
"It's complicated but Time Lords look human because we came first." The Doctor said.
"But how can that be?" Ro-Man said in confusion.
"It just is, mate." The Doctor said. "Don't think about it too much."
"Are the other two from your world?" Asked Ro-Man with hesitation.
"Pretty much." The Doctor nodded.
Ro-Man froze in place for a moment that even The Doctor was concerned.
"You okay?" She asked.
"But they cannot be from another world!" Ro-Man exclaimed in horror. "How are you and they from another world?! It is impossible! No! No!"
"Doc, I got the ticket!" She heard Jubilee shout.
"Keep what I said in mind, mate!" The Doctor said as she hastily ran off.
"But I...I have so many questions!!!" Ro-Man shouted.
"What'd you say to him?" Hawkeye asked as The Doctor ran past him.
"Broke his mind is all!" She replied.
Hawkeye simply stared at her and back at the monster repeatedly dumbstruck at what transpired.
"You know what? Never mind!" He said to himself as he joined The Doctor and Jubilee.
"I got it, but how do we get back?" Jubilee asked in confusion.
The Doctor stared at the ticket for a moment and took the ticket for a closer examination.
"I wonder..." The Doctor mused to herself.
She reached out grasping at nothing but air much to the confusion of her companions. That was until she was looking in another direction. As if she were looking at the lens of a camera.
To their shock, her fingertips were emitting a blue glow of some kind.
"I think we found the portal!" She exclaimed to her companions.
"About time!" Jubilee sighed in relief.
"Blue skidoo, we can too." Hawkeye quipped after sighing.
The trio marched through the background in a blue glowing light and promptly fell onto cushion seats face first.
Earth-061893
The trio yelped as they fell and groaned afterward thanks to the impact.
"Are we back?" Asked Hawkeye as he turned over on his back after removing his leg from in between the arm rests of the seats.
Jubilee tried to get up but stumbled and fell onto the floor. She grasped her head as she felt the trip back had made her dizzy. She shook her head and looked around her surroundings and then frisked herself.
"We're in color!" Jubilee exclaimed in relief.
"I'm gonna have to ask Mr. Madigan about this ticket." The Doctor said as she eyed on the golden ticket with suspicion. "There's a lot more than he let on about this thing."
"All I know is, I'm asking for my money back." Jubilee moaned, disapproving of the small adventure they went through.
The doors opened and the trio turned to see their third companion Jake Wildfire bringing in a collection of snacks like two tubs of popcorn, candy, nachos and soda in one tray.
Jake glanced to see the trio such as The Doctor and Hawkeye raising their eyebrows and Jubilee scowling.
"I was only gone for five minutes." Jake said in confusion. "The movie can't be that bad."
Jubilee slowly walked up to him and promptly shoved the popcorn tub onto his head before giving him a slap upside his head.
"We're going to the multiplex next time!" Jubilee stomped out of the screening in frustration.
"Don't take it too hard, we had a crazy day." Hawkeye offered Jake his sympathies as he walked out himself.
"I'm seeing Mr. Madigan before we go." The Doctor said as she walked past him, walking out herself.
Jake could only glance at the trio in confusion.
"What'd I do?" Jake asked aloud in confusion as he stood there dumbstruck.
After all, it was his idea to go to this specific movie theater.
Earth-712: First Doctor
It was a normal day as the Squadron Supreme had managed to get much of its universe in order once again, at least for the most part.
Around a busy street in Cosmopolis, Tom Thumb, Nighthawk and Doctor Spectrum converged after stopping a recent bank robbery.
A familiar sound was heard. They turned to see the TARDIS materialize in front of them.
The old man, the Doctor, and his two companions Vicki and Steven stepped out of the ship to greet the members of the Squadron Supreme.
"Doctor!" Nighthawk exclaimed in pleasant shock. "What are you doing here?"
"My dear boy, I simply came back to see the progress of your universe." The Doctor said as he eyed on the streets of Cosmopolis. "Though there's still a stain here and there on that sidewalk."
He pointed to the right side of the sidewalk.
"Dear me, a wad of gum on a shoe would be most unpleasant!" The Doctor exclaimed as he pointed to a wad of gum on the right side of the sidewalk.
"Doctor, it's just gum." Vicki chuckled incredulously.
"Even so, my dear!" The Doctor insisted. "You can't be too careful."
Suddenly to his shock, a mysterious new figure flew by as if he were a gust of wind.
The Doctor, Vicki and Steven shielded their eyes and raised their arms to at least shield themselves from the rough winds. The Doctor grew annoyed and cranky at what transpired. But as he opened his eyes, he looked in astonishment.
Before him was an android colored entirely in blue with a large gray S in the middle alongside a gray poncho around him. His facial features appeared neutral.
"My word, I've never seen him before!" The Doctor cried out in astonishment.
"Like him?" Tom Thumb grinned excitedly. "This is Storm Surge. He's an android I created as a new member of the Squadron Supreme."
"An android?" Vicki cried out, impressed.
"That's the most advanced android I've ever seen in my life!" Steven concurred.
"Have you properly tested him however?" The Doctor asked.
"So to speak, yes!" Answered Tom Thumb. "Besides flight and super strength among other things, he can manipulate winds and all sorts of aerokinesis!"
"Aerokinesis?" The Doctor asked with uncertainty. "Are you certain it's feasible?"
"He's helped out a lot, Doctor." Tom Thumb assured the Time Lord. "Though I still need to install his vocal components."
"And how goes the effort to give the Argonite pieces to the other protectors?" The Doctor then asked.
"It's going smoothly." Tom Thumb said before he sheepishly scratched the back of his head. "Though the last piece I probably somehow misplaced when I built Storm Surge, but Nighthawk and myself are on the lookout for it."
Suddenly, they were interrupted by the sound of an explosion from above. They looked up to see a plane falling from the sky with two engines on the right wing in flames. The Doctor then glanced at Storm Surge and what transpired when Tom Thumb noticed.
"That plane is on fire!" Steven exclaimed in horror.
Storm Surge flew upward to the sky by propelling his arms rapidly like a motorboat-collecting water from the air and creating a fog as a result. While the rest turned to the sound of the TARDIS.
"Where is the Doctor going?!" Vicki cried out.
"Look!" Nighthawk pointed at Storm Surge.
The android spun his arms and kept the plane in place for a good solid three minutes with the winds and fog at his aid.
Afterwards, the burning plane was pushed away and exploded.
The onlookers including the three Squadron Supreme members, Vicki and Steven looked on in horror.
But their attention turned to a familiar sound as the TARDIS materialized again just as Storm Surge landed on the ground.
The doors opened to reveal a huge mob of people rushing out. Some relieved they were able to get out alive and others shocked at the size of the TARDIS-including pilots and stewardesses.
The group saw the Doctor gently ushered out people but still in a bit of a grumpy manner.
"Doctor!" Vicki and Steven cried out in relief and astonishment as they rushed toward him.
"You were just saving those people?!" Vicki inquired.
"Of course!" The Doctor replied. "You see, I calculated the speed and time of the plane crashing so that I would need the help of Storm Surge to save their lives keeping the plane in place until I managed to evacuate everyone in the TARDIS."
"Is that what you whispered to him?" Asked Tom Thumb, appearing impressed.
"Yes!" The Doctor smiled triumphantly.
"You still have doubts about Storm Surge?" Tom Thumb asked.
"Well, Storm Surge certainly has the potential and capacity for good." The Doctor sheepishly replied.
"Well I know Storm Surge must be a success given I proved a stubborn old man like you wrong." Tom Thumb crossed his arms as he smirked triumphantly.
"Stubborn?! Me?!" The Doctor cried out in outrage before giving off the sound of a harumph.
The others laughed upon Tom Thumb getting a cantankerous response from The Doctor. To which the Time Lord himself in turn, now found himself chuckling along in good humor.
Earth-16219: Second Doctor
"Doctor! They're coming in!" Jamie cried out.
"I see them!" The Doctor shouted as he and Zoe fiddled with the controls on a nearby panel.
The Doctor and his companions had become entangled in yet another plot by the Cybermen, where this time they had intended to jumpstart conquering this particular universe by inviting the various Cybermen upgrades and variants from across the multiverse. All taking place in an abandoned science lab.
Although the Cybermen they faced during their time, who resembled more robotic and had claws, were destroyed thanks to an EMP, the various Cybermen from across timeliness and other universes were starting to march toward the specific Earth they were targeting.
"We're too late!" Jamie cried out as he joined the Time Lord and Zoe.
The trio looked to see the incoming marching Cybermen from various portals. Some The Doctor would not meet until his fourth and fifth incarnations, some looked more grotesque, others much to his confusion garnered Time Lord wardrobe.
"I have an idea!" The Doctor and Zoe exclaimed simultaneously.
"You go first." The Doctor politely said.
"I was going to propose I can reverse the process, sending them back to their respective dimensions." Zoe said.
"I was going to propose I overheat the controls." The Doctor replied. "That way the portals will close."
"I see no reason we can't do both." Zoe then said.
"Agreed." The Doctor nodded. "Especially since it's better not to let some madman get their hands on this technology."
The trio then noticed a few more portals opening randomly. A few on the ceiling and a few in the front like the others.
"You better do it fast then!" Jamie gasped.
"You're right!" The Doctor concurred before turning to Zoe. "Let's do it!"
Zoe nodded back. "Right!"
Zoe crouched down and opened the inside of the control panel and began switching every chip inside to reverse the portals.
But while she and the others were not looking, still fixated at the portals with the marching Cybermen in front of them, they failed to notice a small blue beam of light leaving one of the portals from above.
"Stop the Doctor and the humans!" The Cyber-Leader commanded the rest of the Cybermen troops as he stepped outside one of the portals.
The Cybermen began to fire their weapons whilst both men ducked behind the control panel.
Zoe placed the last chip in a random slot and shouted, "Got it!"
Suddenly, all the Cybermen felt their bodies lighter and found themselves being flown backwards. The portals sucked them back in.
"Now to finish the job!" The Doctor exclaimed as he pressed and fiddled with every button on the control panel.
Suddenly, sparks began to erupt from the control panel and immediately, the control panel exploded-which caused The Doctor and his companions to recoil from the blast.
"Oh, my giddy aunt!" The Doctor exclaimed in shock.
"I think that is our cue to leave." The Doctor then calmly said but still with a hint of fear.
With his companions nodding in agreement, they fled the area as fast as they could, going down the stairs despite their near exhaustion by the time they got to the third floor.
Finally, they ran out of the facility just as it exploded, to which the trio managed to duck on a grassy field-covering their ears upon hearing the loud explosion.
After a moment, the trio turned over on their backs and sat up to see the facility in flames and smoke. They sighed in relief that they managed to stop the Cybermen.
"Well, that's that." The Doctor said as he stood up as he dusted himself.
"Wait, was the TARDIS inside?!" He then asked in a panic.
"Doctor!" Jamie cried out.
He then pointed at the TARDIS literally next to the trio.
"The TARDIS was outside, remember?"
The Doctor glanced slowly at the TARDIS which indeed, he realized he did Park it outside the facility.
"Oh." The Time Lord said simply out of embarrassment. "Well, that's what happens when one gets caught up in the stress of it all."
"Let's enjoy some fun after this." He then added as he turned to his companions. "Fancy a trip to Disneyland?"
"Oh that sounds wonderful!" Zoe exclaimed in excitement.
"What is...Disneyland?" Jamie asked with intrigue as he, Zoe and The Doctor stepped back inside the TARDIS.
"I'll explain on the way." The Doctor said as the doors closed. "You see, it's a theme park..."
With that, the TARDIS dematerialized. But as it did, the same blue light zipped past where the TARDIS once was and continued to fly across the city.
"Wow!" Maya and Miguel gasped in amazement as they stared at the blue light as it flew past the family car on a freeway.
"A shooting star!" Miguel cried out.
"Let's make a wish!" Maya exclaimed in excitement.
A blonde girl by the name of Violet was painting in her room. Drawing on the board was of herself in a cape and an atypical superhero outfit. Violet stared wistfully at her painting, feeling longing to be a superhero like her best friend, Becky, Word Girl herself.
Suddenly, she noticed a blue light zipping in front of her-flying around until stopping directly in her face. Violet was shocked. Even more so upon closer inspection that it was a blue ring.
"How did...?" Violet was about to ask until she glanced at a small hole in her window.
"Oh..." Violet gasped.
"Violet Heaslip of Sector Earth-16219, you have been chosen to join the Blue Lanterns. Do you accept?" The ring spoke much to her shock.
Violet curiously reached for the ring, until the ring slipped onto her index finger. And suddenly, Violet felt a surge of power.
Like the Twelfth Doctor after him and other incarnations, the Doctor had once again inadvertently created another superhero.
Earth-021023: Third Doctor
A yellow 1954 Ford Popular 103E zipped through the streets, with a large, red dinosaur running not far behind.
"Can't your car go a little faster?!" Moon Girl shouted.
"I assure you, Lunella," The Doctor responded. "Bessie is at top speed!"
"You better punch it then because look!" Lunella then pointed to a peculiar sight that even The Doctor was caught off guard.
They witnessed a tripod stomping around the LES with a Caucasian couple in identical lab coats and black and navy jumpsuits underneath. Both of them resemble, in a way, hipsters, standing on top.
"Time for some fireworks!" Marcy Muzzler grinned as she pressed a button on her wrist.
The tripod was then armed with cannons, causing civilians to run for their lives.
"They've gone mad!" The Doctor exclaimed, aghast at the Muzzlers weaponizing their drones.
"They were always mad, Doc!" Moon Girl retorted. "This is just their real selves."
"We can't let civilians get hurt!" The Doctor then said.
"Then what do you have in mind?" Moon Girl asked.
"As a matter of fact," The Time Lord gave a small grin. "This is a great opportunity to finally combine our knowledge."
"This is great, honey!" Marty shouted to his wife lovingly.
"Hold everything!" The Muzzlers heard a voice from a megaphone.
They looked down to see The Doctor, standing outside his vehicle, wielding a megaphone.
"Are you talking to us?" Marty shouted.
"Yes, I'm speaking to you!" The Doctor replied as he spoke into the megaphone. "Leave these people be!"
"And why should we?!" Marcy angrily shouted back.
"For if you spare the LES, I will give you something far greater." The Doctor said.
The Muzzlers looked at each other in confusion before turning back to the Doctor.
"What's that?" Asked Marcy.
The Doctor covered the speaker on the megaphone to mutter under his breath, "Forgive me for what I'm going to say."
"I have a machine that travels through space and time." The Time Lord spoke again into the megaphone after removing his hand from the speaker.
This was enough to get the attention of the couple.
"Really?!" The couple asked in an excited manner.
The Doctor sighed, "Yes."
The couple huddled privately while The Doctor then sighed in irritation, pinching his nose.
"We accept your offer!" Marcy exclaimed.
As Marcy pressed a button on her wrist, the couple stumbled as they felt their machine stuck struggling to move.
To their shock upon looking down, there were cables that tied together the legs of the tripod. They then looked up to see Moon Girl herself on her jet pack with her arms crossed triumphantly and a smirk on her face.
She then turned to the Doctor to give him the thumbs up, to which he returned the gesture with a smile on his face.
"Devil, do you know the meaning of the word timber?" The Doctor asked the red dinosaur as he winked at him.
Devil Dinosaur grinned much to the fear of the Muzzlers. The red dinosaur ran toward the tripod and knocked it down with his head.
The Muzzlers screamed for their lives as the tripod was knocked backwards with the evil scientist couple themselves being thrown off as the tripod crashed on its back.
"We don't want to die!!!" The Muzzlers screamed in fear to the point of tears as they fell.
But their fall ceased upon hitting the soft cushions of a car. Confused, the Muzzlers sat up to see they landed on the back seats of the car Bessie.
"Perhaps your near death experience will teach you the error of your ways." The Doctor remarked upon turning around to face the couple much to their chagrin.
Not helped by Moon Girl joining him along with Devil Dinosaur standing by the two.
"It's a shame." The Doctor tsked as he began his lecture. "All the inventions and knowledge and you use it for the sake of segregation. Especially to commit gentrification-eliminating this diverse neighborhood of people with different backgrounds. That's not for the greater good."
He glanced at Moon Girl. "This young lady has a very bright future ahead of her. She understands how she can use her knowledge to help others. You can learn from her. I certainly have."
Moon Girl could not help but smile-appreciative of the Doctor singing her praises.
Soon enough, the Muzzlers were taken in by SHIELD agents, being sent back to the prison they escaped from.
"Well, I'd say that ended well for both of us." The Doctor said, satisfied.
"Hey Doc," Moon Girl said. "Thanks for what you said about me."
"I meant every word of it." The Doctor said warmly. "You're going to be among the greatest minds in history."
"Come on, Doc!" Moon Girl laughed in embarrassment, clearly enjoying the praise. "I'm blushing!"
Devil Dinosaur then whined to The Doctor and Moon Girl.
"Oh don't worry, old boy!" The Doctor assured the dinosaur. "You were great yourself."
In response, the dinosaur licked the Doctor's face much to his chagrin.
"Well, at least I know he likes me in this incarnation." The Doctor said as he wiped some of the drool off from his cheek.
"Well, looks like you're getting along better than I thought." The two looked up to see a brown skinned man with teal hair and a white outfit with black gloves and boot and no pupils on his eyes, staring at them with a grin on his face.
"We did your experiment, Beyonder." The Doctor said sternly. "Remember our deal."
"Very well!" The Beyonder sighed. "A deal's a deal and I'll send you back to your own time and universe."
"It's been a pleasure." The Doctor said as he shook Moon Girl's hand. "Hopefully we'll meet under less than annoying circumstances."
"Believe me, you and me both." Moon Girl concurred.
With that in the blink of an eye, The Doctor disappeared. As did Bessie.
"Now are we done?" Moon Girl asked the Beyonder.
"Oh, not so fast!" The Beyonder grinned. "You still have more Doctors to go."
"What?!" Moon Girl shouted out of disbelief. "How many are there-?!"
"Oh you have about twelve more Doctors to go counting another variant after this one!" The Beyonder cut off the girl genius and her complaints. "And might I say, this one I like the best!"
With a snap of his fingers, an incarnation of the Doctor, wearing a brown coat, a brown hat and a long colorful scarf around his neck being the most notable of his fashion, suddenly appeared.
"Lunella?!" The Fourth Doctor exclaimed in surprise.
He glanced at the Beyonder with a dour expression on his face while the Beyonder kept his sadistic smile.
"Oh, you again." The Doctor groaned in a dull fashion as if he expected him again. "And I thought the Black and White Guardians were bad enough."
"Forgive me for being so rude, would you like a jelly baby?" The Doctor presented a small bag of jelly candy politely to Moon Girl much to her confusion.
To which Devil Dinosaur used his tongue to grab the bag and ate it whole much to his satisfaction.
"Well…" The Doctor stared in wide eyed shock at what had just transpired. "At least he liked it."

Earth-92131: Fourth Doctor
"Well this is a fine mess you got us into, Doc!"
"Oh come now, Mr. Grimm!" The Doctor retorted. "This is hardly the worst thing I've been through thus far!"
The Doctor and Ben Grimm aka The Thing had been thrust into a random adventure.
Ben had no idea what would entail after a madman in a blue box had shown up in the Four Freedom Plaza while the rest of the Fantastic Four were still on vacation and after teaming up with both the Hulk and She-Hulk.
To Ben, it just seemed like life wanted to prank him. Even just as he was going to reconcile with Alicia Masters.
Instead, what transpired was an accidental trip to Latveria somehow that resulted in being trapped in a laser cage by Doctor Doom in a high tech dungeon. When all Ben wanted just to appease his curiosity was going to the World Series of 1996.
"Well I'm open to any suggestion to get us out of here!" Ben said.
"Yes, I can assure you punching your way out would had worked the second time." The Doctor sardonically remarked, recalling the earlier instance of escape.
"Don't you start, Doc!" Ben exclaimed irritably as he pounded his fist. "I don't see you doing any better!"
"Patience, Mr. Grimm." The Doctor assured him. "I may have something in mind."
"Don't tell me, that fancy screwdriver do hickey is gonna get us out of this?" Ben sarcastically remarked.
"Don't mock the sonic screwdriver." The Doctor retorted, feeling a bit offended. "Besides, I'm using it after we escape."
The Doctor eyed the control panel a few feet away from the cage and looked around from there to the wall. Even going so far using his hands to pinpoint specific areas.
"Don't tell me you're a mime." Ben rolled his eyes.
The Doctor ignored the remark as he then pulled a button out of his pocket.
"What's that supposed to do?" Ben asked as he raised his rocky eyebrow.
"A trick I learned from a Hawkeye variant." The Doctor responded.
"Just need to get the speed and trajectory right." He then whispered.
With a quick flick, the button flew toward the brick wall and ricochet off and few straight onto a button on the control panel-pressing it down via the edge and dropped to the floor.
In turn, the laser cage turned off much to the delight and amazement of The Doctor who looked at the sight with a big smile on his face. And to the amazement of Ben Grimm, who stared on slackjawed.
"Hey, how'd you do that, Doc?" Ben asked, shocked at the display he saw.
"Simple, dear boy!" The Doctor replied. "I said I calculated the speed and trajectory and had to make sure the timing was just about right and the momentum to consider."
"Don't get cocky, Doc!" Ben said.
Suddenly, they heard the door open and turned around to see the Doombots, who more or less resembled Sentinels mixed with the look of Roman soldiers.
"This I believe is your forte, Mr. Grimm!" The Doctor remarked.
"Now you're talkin' my language, Doc!" Ben happily exclaimed as he pounded his fist.
The Doctor ran to the control panel just as Ben charged at the Doombots.
"Like I always say, it's clobberin' time!" He exclaimed as he literally knocked off the head of one of the Doombots.
As Ben fought off the Doombots, The Doctor raced to the control panel and used the sonic screwdriver. As he pointed it at the control panel, the console short circuit and to his amazement, the TARDIS was revealed to had been behind a secret wall.
"How convenient!" The Doctor shrugged.
"Not for long, Doctor!" The Doctor jumped upon hearing the voice of the man who captured him and Ben; Doctor Doom.
The Time Lord turned around to see the infamous ruler of Latveria who had just entered the dungeon unnoticed.
"Your technology will be mine for the taking!" Said Doom.
"Even if you can, you wouldn't be able to comprehend the scale and dimensions of the TARDIS." The Doctor retorted.
"You underestimate me, Doctor." Doom glared at the Time Lord as he responded darkly.
Doom then pulled out a simple laser pistol and began firing. With the Doctor narrowly dodging every blast as he ran with Doom in pursuit, attempting to blast the Doctor left and right, front and back.
While Ben had been destroying Doombots left and right with ease.
Finally, The Doctor was cornered near a wall.
"It appears you're out of ideas." Doom said.
"Well, I wouldn't say I am." The Doctor said innocently.
"Tag!" Suddenly from behind, Ben punched Doom from behind. "Yer it, Doom!"
Doom was knocked to the floor a few feet away from Ben. Which in turn, the Doctor activated the Sonic Screwdriver at the control panel.
The laser cage was once again activated, only this time; Doom himself was trapped himself.
"Actually the only Doctor you underestimated was me." The Doctor chided the supervillain.
Beneath his mask, Doom gave a dark glare at the Time Lord.
"It's a pity." The Doctor began his lecture. "With all your knowledge and technology, you can help the nation of Latveria. But instead, you use it all for petty revenge and conquest."
"Hey Doc, not to interrupt yer little after school special, but I say we blow this joint!" Ben motioned the Doctor to return to the TARDIS.
"Yes, of course." The Doctor said before giving one last glance at Doom before shrugging. "You're the genius, you figure out how to escape."
"This is not the last you've seen of Doctor Doom, Time Lord!" Doom angrily screamed as The Doctor and Ben ran inside back into the TARDIS.
"Yes, I'm sure we'll meet again in thirty years, give or take!" The Doctor grinned as he mockingly bowed before closing the TARDIS doors.
The TARDIS finally dematerialized away from Doom's castle at last, just as Doom continued to glare where the Doctor left as he clenched his metal gauntlet fists.
"I will have my revenge…" Doom snarled with a sneer.
"Got to hand it to ya, Doc." Ben said as The Doctor fiddled with the TARDIS console. "You took care of that blowhole Doom like a boss."
"He won't be the first and certainly not the last." The Doctor replied simply. "Now, you said you wanted to go to the World Series?"
"Hold on a sec, Doc." Ben said. "Before we go, I got to get to Alicia first, ya know?"
"I can tell from your eyes you love this woman?" The Doctor said with empathy. "I'm happy to oblige. For true love is love. And there is no denying you two bring out the best in each other."
"Come on, Doc!" Ben blushed. "Don't get mushy on me!"
"It's the truth, my friend." The Doctor said as he placed his hand on Ben's shoulder.
Ben smiled in appreciation with tears forming a bit in his eyes.
"Thanks, Doc." Ben said.
"Anytime." The Doctor smiled warmly at the superhero.
"Now!" The Doctor said as he clasped his hands. "Let's get to Alicia, shall we?"
Author's Notes: That's part one done! Some behind the scenes notes.
- I wasn't sure which Doctor Who quote to start with but I went with all three of those in particular. But I picked them as to me, they perfectly sum up The Doctor, who they are, what they do and their eccentric personality. Especially given the tea comment with the seventh Doctor.
To me, The Doctor is a hero, a teacher and a friend. That I feel those three quotes sum up The Doctor in general.
- I wasn't sure if I should include a framing device and there wasn't going to be one but I felt perhaps The Watcher introducing things could do. And given the recent What If trailer, perhaps just in time.
- When thinking of something in time for the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who, I felt maybe doing a series of shorts would at least do given the many Doctors. I wasn't sure if I could complete a Multi Doctor story in time and I didn't have an idea. But at some point, I'm going to. I want to. I just need to think of a solid story. Though I do know which Doctors I want and if anyone knows me, knows which one I pick immediately first.
- Since I was going to go chronically, canon wise at least, Fugitive Doctor seemed the most appropriate Doctor to start with and I wanted to highlight her anyway.
- Side note, considering I've made it no secret I like The Timeless Child story arc, I can't help but feel vindicated that Russell T. Davies is keeping that moving forward. As I always felt that brought the mystery and edge back to Doctor Who.
- I conversed with Ben2Dartmouth on a lot of ideas, plenty of suggestions he made. I don't remember though who thought of the Fugitive Doctor idea first, probably him or myself, he'll correct me on this. But I settled on this, even going for the infamous Robot Monster.
I only knew because of the design of the monster. I wasn't sure because I haven't seen it that I wrote it originally as a parody of the film, like the serial numbers scratched off kind of deal but Ben2Dartmouth assured me I should be fine. So it was the Fugitive Doctor in Robot Monster it is.
- And of course at that point in Infinity Crisis thanks to L1701E, Jubilee, Hawkeye and Jake Wildfire became her companions.
- Ben2Dartmouth suggested I extended Ro-Man having a breakdown a bit.
- Earth-061893 is the designated number for the universe of Last Action Hero and named after its release date. The implication being the kid Danny Madigan is not only now an adult but inherited the same theater he went to.
- I'll be honest, I had no idea what to do with Jake Wildfire in this scenario. So I settled on a gag where he returns from the concession stand missing all the action.
- The First Doctor story involving Earth-712 was an idea Ben2Dartmouth suggested. He suggested I follow up on certain things like the Argonite pieces and a Red Tornado analog, Storm Surge in this case and I credit him to his design suggestions.
And ultimately I settled on a fun superhero team up and Iron Man 3 in a way got in my brain.
- Timeline wise, the First Doctor story is after The Greatest Party in the Galaxy.
- While my preferred TARDIS crew of Susan, Barbara and Ian wasn't feasible that I'll save them for another time, I did manage to use my preferred TARDIS crew for the Second Doctor being Jamie and Zoe, whom I felt were the definitive companions of the Second Doctor era.
- Timeline wise, this is after Zoe joined the Doctor and Jamie and before The Invasion. So it's in between those stories that in this instance, it's her second encounter with the Cybermen.
- Zoe's plan is lifted from and paying homage to how Donatello sent Shredder, Krang and the Dimension X people back to their universe. Even right down to a moment lifted directly from one of Krang's people saying "Stop those turtles!"
- The blue lantern ring was an idea by Ben2Dartmouth. I wanted another instance of The Doctor accidentally creating another superhero as I intended that to be a running theme or gag considering New Discoveries and the Doctor Mysterio Christmas special. So he suggested a character from Word Girl and where it takes place.
- He also suggested a way to further bring home the fact that it takes place on Earth-16219, so I went for a Maya and Miguel cameo. And in turn, I used a gag from the SpongeBob SquarePants episode regarding the Secret Club episode where it played out kind of similar.
- The Third Doctor story with Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur? All me. And might as well get that cartoon into Infinity Crisis with the designated number being the airdate of the series. Thought it'd be a fun team up.
- I wanted to give the Third Doctor a speech. I think the Doctor in any incarnation would praise Lunella for her intelligence.
- Timeline wise, it could take place anywhere in the Third Doctor era.
- I thought it'd be a fun twist if it turned out the Beyonder was testing Lunella with every incarnation of the Doctor for her to team up with.
- I had to put the Jelly Baby line in somehow. I thought about cutting it if it ran too long but I couldn't resist.
- Ben2Dartmouth suggested the team up of Thing and the Fourth Doctor, theme being brains and brawn which I immediately went for.
- I believe he also suggested that specific Earth and considering the 90s Marvel cartoons are connected including Fantastic Four, I wanted to include it.
- Timeline wise, this takes place after the Fourth Doctor story The Deadly Assassin and for Thing, after the 90s The Incredible Hulk cartoon Fantastic Fortitude. At the end of that episode, Ben intended to reconcile with Alicia Masters and teamed up with Hulk and She-Hulk against the Leader and his Gamma Warriors and hence the mention of the rest of the Fantastic Four being on vacation.
And well, why not have The Doctor fight Doctor Doom really?
- I do hope I at least write Ben's Brooklyn accent right.
- The coin trick is a shout to the Marvel miniseries Hawkeye and I did meant to imply the Doctor met Earth-199999 Hawkeye at one point.
- I have too much fun writing The Doctor lecturing people.
- Blowhole is an insult used by Little Pete in The Adventures of Pete Pete.
- I wanted to show The Doctor with his empathetic and compassionate side, hence that scene between him and Ben Grimm.
That's about it for now but part two is coming soon! See ya soon!
