— Chapter 1 - Power —

- Pyrrha -

Pyrrha was moments from death, she recognized that. She thought of her friends, her loved ones, her family, in particular, she thought of Jaune. Her eyes fell closed as she heard the string snap and the arrow loose. Then she died, or she should have. Opening her eyes, she found the arrow just hanging there, hovering in the air with several glowing marks spreading out in the air around its midpoint, cracks. Her attention was averted upwards as Cinder shouted "What!?" Someone ran to her, knocking Cinder to the side with the wave of a hand. Phyrrha would later realize she didn't actually see him make contact.

"Hey! -You're still with us?" Only once he spoke did she recognize him as Onyx, he looked quite different from normal. Once dark, almost shadow-less hair, now blazed with crimson-orange light. The edges of each of the tears, rips and holes in his clothes glow with embers like they had been recently burned. Then there were his eyes, the one not hidden behind his hair blazed with an inferno. Crimson-orange embers trailed from him as he turned to face Cinder…

- Other / GOLJ -

Jackl didn't know where Onyx had run off to, and frankly he didn't have time to care. The Grimm were everywhere, They had to do something about that dragon! "Right!" Griffith started "Leon, you think you have enough aura to get us up there?" he asked his teammate, receiving a "Aight bruv" in return. "Jackl! You and Onyx-" he paused for a moment, realizing Onyx wasn't there, "You make sure to do as much damage as possible!" Jackl smiled in response as he pierced together the plan.

Griffith quickly set about keeping the grimm clear as Leon grabbed Jackl and took a wider stance. In a flash of green light Jackl was launched, using his semblance as both a windshield and to absorb excess energy from Leon's semblance as he rocketed towards the dragon. At first he was a tiny dot compared to the massive beast, then the explosions started. A myriad of glyphs appearing and then unleashing years worth or stored kinetic energy in mass explosions. Jackl also kept swinging his axe, launching shotgun rounds of compacted dust into the dragon at rapid pace, the recoil from each blast forcing the axe through its hide like a hot knife through molten butter. The massive beast screeched in pain as it tried to track its much smaller assailant, eventually swinging its tail around to whip Jackl out of the air.

You see, sometimes, under times of stress or through enough training, a person's semblance can go through a metamorphosis of sorts, unlocking new abilities or a greater effect. Jackl, upon seeing the tail rapidly moving towards him. Did the only thing he could think of, he used his semblance. Creating as many kinetic glyphs as he could he chained them together, forming a tiered wall in front of him. When the tail finally connected, the sheer force from the impact pushed the glyphs together. What should have resulted from the first two sets of glyphs was an explosion as the kinetic energy overloaded them. Instead, the energy from each glyph shattering being transferred to the next in the chain, the resulting feedback loop from jackl trying to make new glyphs to compensate being released back at the source. In short, a giant laser beam.

- Cinder -

The ashen weapon swung in an arc for Cinder's head, forcing the woman to roll out of the way. She was trying to devise a plan of escape, continuously dodging and rolling and altogether barely managing to keep it together. She should have been better than this! The only thought her panicked mind could muster. At some point she lost a leg, although adrenaline and training kept her from faltering.

The sudden blinding crimson light provided her means of escape, she would have her revenge. And an explanation.
