I've got so many projects I keep procrastinating at, and I have yet another crossover idea I've suddenly got the interest in starting. After rewatching the Scooby-Doo guest star shows out of boredom, it, along with an author's Disney-based Scooby-Doo crossover story ideas, inspired me to do one with other famous characters. This time, Scooby and the gang enter the Despicable Me world to stop a monster.
For the fun of it but without full sincere commitment, I thought of scenarios where Mystery Inc. teams up with versions of Universal animated characters and do their usual routine: chasing monsters and unmasking them. Of course, this may be one of the only actual ideas that may see fruition, because Despicable Me does borrow some tropes from Scooby-Doo, so a crossover between them would be unexplored potential. I mean, why not have this team-up even though it's not popularly-demanded?
This would take place either before the events of Despicable Me 3 or after the third installment but definitely before the fourth one coming this summer. I don't own any of the characters used here except the background ones and the new monster.
It is another casual day at Paradise Mall. Folks are shopping around making purchases, and our attention is on one particular shop: Eagle Hair Club, the same store from which AVL agent Felonious Gru bought a toupee out of embarrassment for his lack of hair.
It was also the store thought to have robbed the PX-41 serum from Siberia, but thankfully, with help from Gru, they found out that the real thief, Eduardo Perez aka El Macho, had planted it there to frame the owner, Floyd Eagle-San. After which, the charges were dropped and Mr. Eagle-San was let out of prison with the real criminal taking his place. He is now running the store yet again and stroking the same gray-white wig from the day Gru walked into his store.
The bell rings as someone walks inside with the customer saying, "Is there a Floyd Eagle-San here?"
The dwarfish wig proprietor turned to face the customer, chirping warmly, "Greetings, honorable customer. Welcome to Eagle Hair Club. How may I be of service today?"
He saw the customer was tall, bulky, in a trench coat and had a yellow balding head. That looked familiar to the wig man.
He inquired to the customer, "Say, are you one of Mr. Gru's little yellow fellows? Very odd that there is a tall one of you and that you can speak English. Oh well, I take it you are here to purchase a wig to cover your round head and make yourself look irresistible."
The Minion-looking customer responded with a chuckle, "Oh, I'm not here for a wig, little man, nor am I one of Gru's henchmen." He then dropped the trench coat, showing his body having three sets of eyes underneath the first pair and evil grinning mouth.
Needless to say, this left Mr. Eagle-San utterly terrified. Then the creature slammed the frightened man hard onto his desk.
"My child, help me!" Mr. Eagle-San cried to his pet eagle.
The bird then went for the security button, only to be smacked away into a bust holding a Luke Perry-style wig and was sent to the floor with the bust breaking down on top of the poor bird. The eight-eyed "Minion" clutched the store owner, threatening him, "Tell me where Gru and the Minions are or this Minion will do more than mess up your store!"
"Scooby-Universal-Doo"
Today, Scooby and the gang meet Gru, Lucy Wilde and the Minions.
What do you think so far?
Sorry that a tall multi-eyed Minion speaking English is the best monster I could come up with; all the other ghouls are done, and I'm not clever enough to see what else would fit in the Despicable Me world.
Because most of these mysteries have one of Mystery Inc.'s members having a connection to or be related to a special guest star, this will be no different. Lucy Wilde will be Daphne's distant cousin, due to their orange hair color and perkiness.
For the fun of it, it's your choice whether Mystery Inc. should appear in 2D form or their CGI forms from the Will Forte film.
Because one-eyed creatures automatically mean 'monsters' and 'not human' in rational people's eyes, no one-eyed minions will be present in this story, and the only type of minions Mystery Inc will see in the story are the two-eyed ones.
Also, Gru's daughters will not help on this case. They will be mentioned only.
Please read and leave some thoughts on what could be done with this episode-type story. That's pretty much what I'm going for here: a usual Scooby-Doo episode with characters from Despicable Me guest starring. Then again, I could just redo this whole story and leave out the dog with his friends and have the DM characters parody the Hanna-Barbera cartoon themselves like South Park did a Scooby-Doo parody episode once.
