Dad and I spend Christmas Day together, watching football and eating the cookies and fudge I made. It's relaxing and nice. We find the movie theater is open and go watch the new Wonka movie, which we both enjoy. I make chicken croissants for dinner, which is shredded chicken, cream cheese, some seasonings, and green onions wrapped in square croissants with crushed croutons and butter on top. They're delicious and easy and the extra stuffing can be eaten with crackers.
Edward doesn't get home until seven, and he looks exhausted.
"Hey, handsome. How was your day?"
"Busy. Between burns and cuts and falls, I could barely breathe. We're never buying our child a hoverboard."
My eyes go wide, and I glance at Dad, seeing if he caught that, but his eyes are solely on the TV.
"No hoverboards. Got it." I lift up on my toes, kissing him gently. "Dinner is almost ready if you want to shower first."
He nods. "I think that's a good idea. I love you, gorgeous."
"I love you too, handsome."
Once Edward showers, we eat dinner, and then watch It's a Wonderful Life. It's a nice quiet evening until the kid inside of me decides it doesn't want chicken croissants. I rush to the downstairs bathroom and lose my dinner with Edward hot on my heels. He rubs my back and holds my hair.
"I'm okay," I say as he takes tissues and wipes my mouth. "Maybe I only have two weeks left of this."
"Let's hope. Go take a pill and wash up. I'll just tell your dad you had too many sweets today."
I nod. "I did eat a lot of fudge. And popcorn at the theater. And cookies. And then dinner on top of it all."
"Totally reasonable excuse. Let's get you up."
He helps me to my feet, and I run upstairs to brush my teeth and take a pill. When I get back downstairs, Dad tells me to leave the sweets alone, which I think means he bought Edward's lie.
We finish watching the movie, and by the time it's over, Dad's passed out and Edward isn't far behind him. I get them both to go to bed and finish packing my bag for Carlisle and Esme's, checking to make sure I have each gift ready. I had ornaments made with the ultrasound picture inside and fake snow. They say, "Coming Soon," on them.
I hope it's as cute as I think it is to tell everyone.
I head to bed myself, excited for tomorrow. When morning light shines through the window, I'm quick to get up. Edward is still fast asleep, but Dad is downstairs having a cup of coffee.
I'm allowed one cup a day, so I pour one and sit down next to him at the island.
"I think you found a good one, Bells," he says, glancing over with a smile.
"I think so too. I've never felt this way about anyone before. It's … magical. We get along well, and he takes care of me."
"Which you kind of need." He chuckles.
"It does come in handy to have a doctor boyfriend."
"He's a good guy. I'm looking forward to meeting his parents today."
"Speaking of which, I need to get Edward up because he hasn't finished packing. I'll be right back."
I run upstairs and wake sleeping beauty, telling him we need to leave in an hour and kissing him passionately.
"Mm, too bad your dad is here," he mumbles.
"He leaves tomorrow, and then we can have all the sex to make up for the missed times."
He cocks his brow. "All of the sex?"
"Until I'm made of jelly. Now, finish your bag and grab a shower. I'm going to take one in the hall bathroom once I finish my coffee."
Dad's on his phone, still sipping when I get back down. He's gotten good at using it. Teaching him to text almost killed me, but now he can find the news, send emails, take pictures, etc.
"What's going on in the world?" I ask.
"The usual chaos."
"Sounds accurate. I'm going to finish this, then get a quick shower in the hall bathroom. Unless you want to go first."
"Sure, I'm about done anyway. I'll be quick." He downs the last of his mug, and then heads upstairs.
I finish most of my cup and clean up the dishes. I get the two treat tins out of the refrigerator so I don't forget them, and once Dad is out of the shower, I take my turn.
We leave right on time for Baltimore, and Dad makes me sit up front, saying the back is fine for him. We hit a little traffic but nothing too terrible. We arrive a little after one and head straight inside. Esme is quick to hug us as Carlisle introduces himself to my dad. Esme hugs him without hesitation and greets him like an old friend.
Rose and Emmett come in from the living room to say hello. They're leaving around three since Emmett has to work tomorrow, so we have a quick lunch, and then go sit in the living room to catch up.
"Edward and I actually have one more gift for you all," I say, smiling like a fool. I go to my bag on the floor and pull out the three boxes. I hand one to Dad, one to Carlisle and Esme, and one to Rosalie.
"We already did gifts," Esme says.
"This is one we wanted to watch you open," Edward says.
"Well, let's see what it is," Dad says, tearing the wrapping paper off the clear box. He scrutinizes it as Esme screams.
"We made an oops baby," I say, giggling.
"I'm going to be a grandma!" Esme exclaims. "Carlisle, grandparents!"
"I know, darling. This is exciting."
"I guess you weren't listening closely to that birds and bees talk, were you?" Dad asks with a smirk.
Rose is laughing. "I'm telling this kid you called it an oops baby. But seriously. Congrats to you both."
"Thanks, Rose," Edward says. "I saved a gift for Bella too.
He slides off the couch and onto one knee as Rose takes her phone out. "I know we haven't been together long, and we're doing things out of order, but there's nothing I want more than to raise our child together as a married couple. Would you do me the extraordinary honor of becoming my wife?"
He opens the box, revealing a stunning halo ring with a large diamond in the middle. I cover my mouth, stunned.
"Oh my god," I mumble around my hands.
"Is that a yes or no?"
"Yes!" I dive down, wrapping my arms around him with all my strength. Pulling back, I press my lips to his as the room erupts in applause.
Holy shit, Cullen just asked me to marry him, and I said yes. Who the hell could have pictured this?
I don't own Twilight.
Thanks to Ashley, May, and Mary prereading and Sally for beta'ing.
