Chapter 19: Cranking up the Heat
Lava Reef Zone, Crystal Caverns
So once again, our heroes had to contend with one of Eggman's gadgets.
"Just hand over the emeralds you have, and I'll let you go Scott free." Eggman said.
"Like we would do that." Knuckles scoffed.
"Fine! You've made your choice!" Eggman said as the Pocket Death Egg began to fire middles at the group.
"Scatter!" Sonic yelled as they all jumped away from the incoming missiles.
"Our turn!" Knuckles called out.
The heroes began to attack the Pocket Death Egg, but they couldn't leave a dent on it.
"Tails, analysis!" Sonic said.
"This armor is pretty tough, and the Egg Mobile is the power source. Somehow we have to get it to shut down."
"Oi, I have an idea, mates!" Marine exclaimed.
"We don't have time for jokes!" Shadow scolded.
"I'm not kidding! Just hear me out!"
"What do you have in mind?" Silver asked.
"Blaze should throw fire at the blasted thing-"
"We've already done that." Blaze interrupted.
"I wasn't finished! It may absorb her fireballs, but that could make the armor hot, so hot that it causes the inside to malfunction." Marine finished.
"That's actually a good idea." Maria said.
"Yeah, but can you handle that, Blaze?" Sonic asked.
"Of course. Everyone please step back." Blaze commanded, in which the group obeyed. She closed her eyes, concentrating on her powers.
A fireball appeared in her hands, slowly growing in size until it was as big as the Pocket Death Egg.
"Let's see if you can handle this!" Blaze yelled as she chunked the fireball at the floating orb.
The orb began glowing red as the heat from the fireball was overheating the machine.
"Whew, it's getting a little too hot in here for me! I better get out of here!" Eggman said, wiping his brow, then pressed a button, which was labeled "Ejector Seat", sending him flying out of the Pocket Death Egg.
"Dang, he got away!" Knuckles grumbled.
"So it's 3-2 now." Sonic stated.
"3-2?" Maria asked.
Sonic pulled out the Cyan Chaos Emerald.
"I managed to get the emerald from Icecap." Sonic smiled.
"Great job, Sonic! Now, let's get back to the Sky Warrior." Tails said.
"Indeed. I must rest. Making that fireball drained my energy." Blaze gasped.
"You did great." Shadow told her and gave her a smile, in which she returned.
The ebony hedgehog pulled out the Yellow Chaos Emerald.
"Chaos Control!"
