Chapter 21: Freaky Frog Fight
Frog Forest, 1 AM
"I can't believe it's actually 1 A.M." Silver said as the boys landed.
"This is nothing for me." Manic teased.
"Got anything, Tails?" Shadow asked the young fox.
"Yeah. It's actually not far from us, just up north." Tails answered.
"Great! Let's go get it then." Sonic zoomed ahead, followed by Shadow, then, Tails, Knuckles, Manic, and Silver.
When they reached the emerald's location on the radar, all they saw was a frog.
"It says the emerald should be here." Tails said.
The frog hopped, then began to glow, then grow.
"What the?" Knuckles gasped.
"The Chaos Emerald is powering up this frog!" Tails exclaimed.
"I didn't think the emerald could do stuff like this!" Manic said.
"Oh ho ho!" A voice gloated,
"Eggman! The group yelled in unison.
"Oh, yes, it's me, but I want to help you beat this frog to get the Chaos Emerald! Then, we battle for the emerald ourselves!" Eggman proposed.
"I guess." Sonic grumbled, reluctantly.
"Well, let's beat this frog!" Knuckles yelled as the group began to battle the powered up frog.
"This is weird, fighting a frog." Sonic chuckled.
"Save the jokes, Faker." Shadow told him.
"I'm fine, let's go, whoa!" Sonic said, but was brushed back when a red figure flew by.
"What was that?" Silver asked.
Everyone looked at Eggman.
"What? Just because I'm evil doesn't mean I'm responsible for everything that flies by! I'm just as clueless as the lot of you." Eggman barked.
"It was I."
They all looked up and gasped.
"No way!" Sonic exclaimed.
"Did you miss me?"
"Infinite?" Eggman adjusted his glasses to make sure he wasn't seeing things.
"Yes, Doctor, it's me." Infinite said.
He snapped his fingers and the White Chaos Emerald popped out of the frog's mouth, turning it back to normal.
"How are you alive? I thought you needed the Phantom Ruby to survive?" Tails questioned.
"It gave me my powers, but I can live without it." Infinite explained.
"Then how did you just do that?" Silver asked,
"I managed to salvage some of the Ruby's power for myself. And now that the time is right, I've returned for my revenge against all of you!" Infinite boomed.
Eggman flew by and plucked the emerald from the jackal's hand.
"Orbot, Cubot, beam me up NOW!"
The Egg Eagle flew above and beamed up Eggman.
"Shit! He got away!' Manic yelled.
"Come on, we got to get back to the Sky Warrior! Infinite, we'll deal with you later." Sonic said.
Knuckles used his Warp Ring to open a way back to the Sky Warrior. He, Tails, Manic, and Silver made it through, but before Sonic and Shadow could walk through, Infinite closed the portal.
"You two aren't going anywhere!" Infinite yelled, hands glowing.
"Get ready, Shadow!" Sonic called out.
"I'm already there!" Shadow answered.
