Kingdom Evil 2 Remake.

This is a crossover story between Kingdom Hearts and Resident Evil, two of the most popular games in the world. I always wanted to do a Resident Evil story when I first started playing the games but didn't have the time to write one as I was busy playing the Separate Ways DLC in Resident Evil 4 Remake and working on other chapters for my stories. I absolutely loved the Separate Ways DLC.

I had attempted to write a Resident Evil story a few weeks ago, only for the document to be deleted when I couldn't figure out how to write the next plot of the story. It had been going so well until I got stuck. Don't worry, I'm going to try writing more Resident Evil stories in the future, including crossover ones.

Anyways, here is a new crossover story for you guys to enjoy and I hope you like it. However, before we get into the chapter, I want to say a few things about the story.

1) Sora will be seventeen in the story instead of being sixteen in game canon.

2) There will be no Heartless in the story. I know every Kingdom Hearts crossover story has Heartless, but I just don't feel like adding them because there is a zombie outbreak going on. Also, I'm pretty sure gun bullets can't harm the Heartless, it might pass through them. I could be wrong, but I'm just not going to add Heartless in the story. I will add them next time.

3) The story will be rated M for blood gore, swearing and sexual themes. There might be a lemon at the end, but not entirely sure yet since this is literally the start of the story.

4) The main pairing will be Sora X Claire and will entirely focus on them throughout the story.

5) The story takes place right after Sora uses the power of waking to bring back Kairi.

6) Claire will be wearing the classic Resident Evil 2 outfit but the remake version. I don't have any problems with the original outfit Claire wears, it looks great, but I like the classic outfit more. So, Claire's outfit will be the classic one. If I write another Resident Evil 2 crossover story, then I'll have her outfit the remake version.

7) Sora's sudden appearance, Keyblade and no knowledge of the world he's in will make Claire suspicious before she starts to trust him, eventually having feelings in the process.

Alright, that is everything I wanted to say about the story. I did have one last thing to say, which is Sherry being adopted by Sora and Claire, but I wasn't sure if that would be happening. After all, the story is still at the beginning. I'm planning do more thinking about the adoption and If you guys want me to do it, then I'll do it. Until then, I'll be doing some serious thinking.

Without further ado, let's head right into the story!

Enjoy the chapter.

Chapter One: Prologue.

It was over.

The ancient Keyblade War was finally over, thanks to a group of young Keyblade wielders who had fought bravely and selflessly to protect all worlds, along with its inhabitants, from looming darkness and threats. They are known as the Guardians of Light.

During the Keyblade War, the Guardians of Light fought against an evil group called Organization XIII, led by a Keyblade Master named Xehanort, who had been using the power of darkness to not only summon numerous Heartless, Nobodies and Unversed – creatures who are made from either darkness, nothingness or negative emotions respectively – but threaten the balance of worlds to search for new Seven Princesses of Heart, along with their final vessel for the ultimate plan, which was forging the powerful X-blade.

The X-blade was said to be one of most powerful weapons in all worlds, utilizing to control and unlock Kingdom Hearts, the heart of all worlds, and an inspiration to forge Keyblades but imperfect models; less powerful as well. It can also use magic, light and dark, making the X-blade a perfect balance weapon.

Unfortunately, the X-blade's legendary power gained many people's attention, including power-hungry ones, which resulted many Keyblade wielders, both good and evil, to a massive Keyblade War that caused terrible destruction, along with many casualties. They wanted to wield the weapon to control Kingdom Hearts for their own desires, which is either wiping away the darkness, become the strongest Keyblade wielder, conquer all worlds with darkness or reshaping the entire universe to one's great will.

The very last one was the reason why Xehanort wanted to forge the X-blade and open the door to Kingdom Hearts. He wanted to reshape the entire universe to his will where light and darkness are more balanced without the former choosing people worthy when the latter falls, while learning more about the Keyblade War since not many Keyblade Masters know much about the ancient topic.

But in order to reshape the universe, forge the X-blade and open the door to Kingdom Hearts, Xehanort first needed to gather extremely important pieces, which are seven Guardians of Light and thirteen Seekers of Darkness. Once he had the twenty pieces, he would have them clash against each other in the place where the X-blade was ultimately shattered into twenty pieces: The Keyblade Graveyard.

The Keyblade Graveyard is a barren rocky wasteland where the Keyblade War began years ago before it ended with numerous lifeless Keyblades covering the land. It was also the place where Xehanort first attempted to forge the X-blade by using two hearts, one with pure light and the other with pure darkness. He did manage to forge it, but the legendary weapon got destroyed by Aqua and King Mickey when they were fighting the possessed Ventus, who fought his dark half, Vanitas, inside his own mind, eventually winning at the end. Unfortunately, the victory put the young Keyblade wielder into a comatose state, much to Aqua's and Mickey's great sadness.

Xehanort knew his attempt to forge the X-blade for the first time would be a failure, given how he acted hasty and overlooked the true way. The legendary weapon he tried to forge was actually an artificial one, not the real one itself. Only having the seven Guardians of Light and the thirteen Seekers of Darkness clash against each other will allow Xehanort to finally forge the X-blade, the true one this time, and he was intending to make that happened, even if he had to sacrifice billions of lives in many worlds.

However, there were two problems with the plan. One, Xehanort only had four Guardians of Light, not seven. And two, he was getting old. It could take years for the remaining Guardians to reveal themselves and the old master knew he couldn't afford to wait that long; there's a possible chance he might pass away at old age. Luckily, Xehanort had anticipated the aging problem and came up with a plan: He would gain a new vessel; one who would take place as one of the thirteen Seekers to help forge the X-blade and battle the other Guardians of Light.

That vessel was Terra.

Ever since Xehanort first met Terra when he dropped Ventus off with his old friend, Master Eraqus, he knew the young Keyblade wielder was the perfect vessel for him. Not because of Terra's skills with a Keyblade or brute strength, but the potential darkness inside his heart. It was faint but it's there, waiting to grow and be used in battles. So, it was decided Xehanort will make Terra his vessel. He could have Aqua as a back up vessel in case things don't go well, but she would be very hard to persuade since she's a firm light believer like Eraqus, only much firmer, and can be stubborn.

No, it was better to have Terra as a vessel.

The plan to make Terra as Xehanort's vessel had been a brilliant success; the young man didn't even notice the manipulation until the death of Master Eraqus and the final confrontation in the Keyblade Graveyard. Terra did try to stop the old master from taking over his body by donning his armor, but it proved to be futile as Xehanort's heart just managed to get through, eventually taking over the body and battling against the discarded armor Terra tried to don on, which is called a Lingering Will.

Not only did the possessed Terra lose the battle to the Lingering Will in the Keyblade Graveyard, but also Aqua in Radiant Garden, the latter tracking him down after placing Ventus in the Chamber of Waking and hearing Terra's voice. After the battle, Xehanort felt Terra's resistance inside the possessed body, which forced the former to flush out the latter's heart out and into the Heartless Guardian, known as the Dark Figure, much to Aqua's horror. Then the possessed Terra falls into a materialized dark portal that leads to the Realm of Darkness and Aqua jumps in to save him, only to sacrifice herself when she quickly realizes she couldn't save both herself and him.

But despite sacrificing herself into the Realm of Darkness, Aqua was glad she saved someone who had once been a kind and dear friend to her ever since they first met as children. Since then, peace had reign over many worlds.

But peace didn't last very long.

Turns out, the possessed Terra Aqua saved from being trapped in the Realm of Darkness wasn't really Terra himself but Xehanort. His heart still remains in the body, but he has no recollection of memory whatsoever, due to the separation of Terra's heart. All Xehanort remembers is a name…his name exactly. Other than that, nothing.

After being nursed back to health by a man name Ansem the Wise, ruler of Radiant Garden, Xehanort became one of his apprentices and began doing research of Ansem's report, which is the darkness that lingers in people's hearts.

It didn't take long for the Heartless to be created after a couple of experiments and Xehanort chose this time to study them, recording what he sees in very detailed reports under Ansem's name, while stepping into darkness so that he can control the Heartless at the same time. After all, wielding darkness is the only way to control beings that are made of, well, darkness.

In the process of studying the Heartless with fellow apprentices and stepping deeply into darkness, Xehanort eventually found the very core to Radiant Garden, which led to the collapse of the world's boundaries. Then King Mickey arrived in Radiant Garden by using the Gummi Ship, befriended the real Ansem and explained what he learned in the outside world. This made Ansem concerned and worried that his research about the darkness in people's hearts may have brought the destruction and suffering to many worlds, including his own world.

Ansem could've never been more right in his life.

Ansem's research did indeed bring destruction and suffering to many worlds, including his beloved home, and it was all because of Xehanort and the apprentices he had foolishly trusted. He confronted them after discovering the research, but they banished him to the Realm of Darkness, making the ruler of Radiant Garden become resentful and bitter at the betrayal of the six apprentices. He vowed to get his revenge.

Right after Ansem got banished into the Realm of Darkness, Xehanort began doing the finishing touches on the main computer of Radiant Garden, which holds so much information about the research Ansem had done over the years, and his reports that explains his intentions to seek out Kingdom Hearts so that he can gain ultimate power, control and knowledge. It was around that time the Heartless began to attack Radiant Garden and took so many innocent lives without stopping.

Luckily, a few people managed to escape the slaughter in Gummi Ships and seek refuge in other worlds. However, in the process of escaping, Radiant Garden became no more and fashioned a new name: Hollow Bastion.

After doing the finishing touches, Xehanort then divided himself into two different beings; one was the Heartless commander named Ansem, the fake one, and the other was the Nobody commander named Xemnas, the leader of the original Organization XIII. With both beings created and having the memories of their original self, Ansem and Xemnas went their separate ways to obtain Kingdom Hearts in their own way.

The fake Ansem would try opening the Door to Darkness to gain power and fill the entire universe with darkness after having so many worlds fall from the Heartless attacks, while Xemnas would have Keyblade wielders fight so many Heartless to release hearts that gets transported to the World That Never Was. Once he has enough hearts, he would use Kingdom Hearts to gain power and reshape the entire universe to his image where nothingness like Nobodies will be eternal.

The two half beings of Xehanort almost came close to achieving their goals of obtaining Kingdom Hearts and using its great power to either fill the universe with darkness or reshaping it to one's image, but they were thwarted, later defeated, by the recent chosen hero of the Keyblade that appeared, the hero who fought the darkness, the original Organization XIII and restored peace to many worlds, including restoring Hollow Bastion to its former name.

The chosen hero's name of the Keyblade is Sora.

Ever since Sora gained the ability to wield a Keyblade after the Heartless attacked Destiny Islands, his home, he has come a long way. He had changed from being an uncertain inexperienced kid to being a confident powerful warrior who would not hesitate to protect other people from darkness or evil. He would risk his life to protect anyone, including his friends. This selfless trait made many of Sora's friends respect him and support him to the very end.

However, the selfless trait of protecting other people, including friends, was a weakness Xehanort took advantage of during the final confrontation in the Keyblade Graveyard. He ordered Xemnas to abduct Kairi, a person Sora deeply cares about, from the battle and have him bring her before the old master where he would use her to give Sora motivation in the Keyblade War. When all the Organization members were defeated by the Guardians of Light, including his incarnations, Xehanort brings out an unconscious Kairi and strikes her down in front of Sora, giving him the motivation to attack him in order to forge the X-blade.

In Sora's grief of seeing Kairi struck down mercilessly in cold blood, he had mindlessly done what Xehanort wanted him to do: Attacking him. Because of this, the X-blade, the true one this time, has finally been forged once again and the first thing Xehanort did after receiving the X-blade was summoning Kingdom Hearts from the darkness before opening it, thus revealing its true form.

With Kingdom Hearts and the X-blade in his command, Xehanort was ready to reshape the entire universe to his will where light and darkness are more balanced, not caring he will be condemning billions of lives to start anew.

But Xehanort didn't get too far with his plans to reshape the entire universe to start anew and have light and darkness become more balanced because he was thwarted by the Guardians of Light who came up with a plan to contain him. By using the power to transcend through space and time against the old master, he would be sent to a place where all Keyblade wielders once trained many years ago, Scala ad Caelum, and the ultimate battle between Sora, accompanied by Donald and Goofy, and Xehanort would begin.

The ultimate battle had been very intense, hard and difficult, due to Xehanort being a battle strategic genius, manipulating the entire world's battlefield to give him an edge, using teleportation to avoid attacks and having decades of experience, along with skill and magic. And he did all of this without using the X-blade until the end. But Sora, Donald and Goofy managed to prevail everything Xehanort thrown at them and finally defeated him at the top of Scala ad Caelum.

However, despite being defeated by Sora, Donald and Goofy, Xehanort still planned to reshape the entire universe to start anew and have light and darkness become more balanced by using Kingdom Hearts, which was still in his command. That way, he can become a leader, a leader who can protect the weak from polluting worlds with their endless darkness and a leader who can guide the hearts of people to their destiny. But Sora tells Xehanort it's not his decision to make and gives him a piece of wisdom advice.

"A real leader knows that destiny is beyond his control and accepts that."

Hearing those words reminded Xehanort of Master Eraqus, the man he used to consider as a brother during their training days until they had a falling out from walking different paths. It was around that moment the other Guardians of Light arrived in Scala ad Caelum after battling replicas of Xehanort, much to Sora's, Donald's and Goofy's surprised and happiness. Then Terra, who managed to get his body back during the clash between the Guardians of Light and the Organization, speaks to Xehanort by using words Master Eraqus once said during their training days.

"There's more to light than meets the eye. As I told you."

Master Eraqus, whose heart has been residing inside Terra for the last thirteen years after being slain, appears before Xehanort, shocking both Aqua and Ventus, and demands him to surrender the X-blade, but the old master refuses to do so, not when he's about to finally achieve his plans. However, after a few more convincing and a friendship reminder, Xehanort ultimately surrendered the X-blade to Sora, then went to join Kingdom Hearts with his old friend, not before said friend went to hug his now crying students one last time.

In the process of Xehanort surrendering the X-blade to Sora and closing Kingdom Hearts one last time, this officially made the Keyblade War come to an end, which caused peace to reign over many worlds once again.

But despite the Guardians of Light being happy that the Keyblade War has finally ended, they were sad because Kairi wasn't with them to celebrate the hard-fought victory. The one who's taking her death the hardest was Sora. He knew there would be casualties during the war, but he didn't think it would actually happen, especially at the end when all Guardians of Light managed to prevail over the very massive army of Heartless, Nobodies and Unversed. It's…hard to accept there was a single causality in the Keyblade War.

Riku, in an effort to cheer Sora up, swore the Guardians of Light will find the Kairi and suggested to head back to Master Yen Sid where they could possibly get a clue on her location.

While the other Guardians of Light agreed with what Riku said, Sora didn't because there was only one way to bring back Kairi and that was using a power he had obtained throughout his third journey, a power he used multiple times in the Keyblade Graveyard to save everyone when they got killed by largest Demon Tide in existence…and a power that will unknowingly make him disappear in the end.

The Power of Waking.

The Power of Waking is an ability that is used to wake up sleeping hearts, which is either a living being or a sleeping world. If the hearts remain in their slumber state, then the person or world can never wake up; they will continue to sleep peacefully. The Power of Waking can also be used to wake the hearts of the recently deceased, but it's a terribly dangerous action since it goes against the laws of nature.

The reason why is because the Power of Waking is meant to traverse hearts to reach worlds, not traverse worlds to reach hearts. If a person abuses the power, despite using it in a good way, then the said person will incur a high price for altering the course of history itself. It is a nature taboo, a forbidden act. As a result, the person will vanish from the world they originated from and be transported somewhere else, while never be able to return.

That was the price Sora incurred after abusing the Power of Waking multiple times during the clash in the Keyblade War. The younger version of Xehanort knew what Sora had done and warned him about abusing the power, but he paid the warning no mind since he thought it was a bluff. In hindsight, the spiky brunette should've listened to the warning, along with King Mickey's protest when he revealed he was going to use the Power of Waking.

"Sora, listen! The Power of Waking isn't to go chase hearts around! Even if you do locate Kairi, you might never come home to us again."

Sora knew King Mickey was looking out for him, which he greatly appreciated, but he needed to do this; his whole journey began the day when he first lost Kairi during the Heartless attack on Destiny Islands. If he doesn't use the Power of Waking right now, then she, Kairi, will be lost forever and might never be found. It could take months or years to find her, and it was something Sora's refusing to accept.

Using the Power of Waking was the only way instead of having Master Yen Sid try to locate someone who got killed.

So, with his heart decided and mind made up, Sora departed from the Keyblade Graveyard to use the Power of Waking one last time, not before reassuring everyone, including a worried King Mickey, he will be back with Kairi.

Right after Sora departed from the Keyblade Graveyard, the other Guardians of Light returned to their home worlds and began celebrating the hard-fought victory with each group doing their own thing. Lea, Roxas, Xion, previous members of the original Organization, ate sea-salt ice cream bars on top of the clock tower in Twilight Town where they watched the sunset in the distance before they were joined by Hayner, Olette, Pence and Isa. They would all eventually become very great friends and continued to hang out in this spot throughout the future.

Meanwhile, Terra, Ventus and Aqua went back to the Land of Departure, another place where Keyblade wielders train after Scala ad Caelum fell into darkness, to honor the memory of Master Eraqus. Even though they don't have a tombstone to write initials, they used the Keyblade Master Eraqus wielded, Master's Defender, as a tombstone and decorated it with bundles of flowers, along with the three Wayfinders Aqua made. After paying their respects to their deceased master's grave, Terra, Ventus and Aqua headed back to the castle to reforge the bonds they severed thirteen years ago and along the way, they gained a new friend named Chirithy.

King Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Master Yen Sid went back to Disney Castle where Queen Minnie, Daisy, Chip and Dale awaited their arrival. Minnie was extremely happy to see Mickey alive, even shedding a tear, and had been about to rush over when Pluto, Mickey's dog, beat her to the punch. The dog jumped onto his master and gave him many excited licks, much to Donald's and Goofy's great incredulously as they went over to calm the dog down. Mickey, however, only became amused and gave Pluto a pat on the head before taking Minnie's hands, finally reuniting with her. Daisy also reunited with Donald, but she gave him an extremely displeased look first before hugging him.

Soon, the Guardians of Light finished their own celebrations in their home worlds and went to Destiny Islands where they would wait for Sora and Kairi to return. During that time, they had been enjoying the peacefulness and doing their own thing, which is either running around the island, making sand sculptures, collecting sea shells near the beach, playing a game of frisbee or just standing around and watching the events being played.

It's been a great day to enjoy doing fun activities after the Keyblade War ended.

It didn't take long for Sora and Kairi to finally appear on Destiny Islands after succeeding in bringing the latter back to the living. Both were sitting on the small island where the paopu fruit was and currently enjoying watching the beautiful sunset. Everyone eventually noticed Sora and Kairi sitting on the small island but chose to watch them in silence as they didn't want to interrupt the romantic moment, despite some wanting to go over there and hug them.

Unfortunately, all good things, such as the romantic moment between Sora and Kairi, had to come to an end.

Since Sora used the Power of Waking one last time to bring Kairi back, he had activated the high price that will make him vanish from the world he originated from, which was Destiny Islands. That was exactly what happened to him after spending a few more moments with Kairi, shocking everyone on the island, except her who knew about Sora's tragic fate.

Even though many of his friends would become upset when they learned he was gone, particularly Donald, Goofy, Roxas, Xion and Ventus as they had the closest connection to him, Sora had no regrets for what he had done. Though, he did wish he could see Kairi's smile one last time. Seeing it makes him smile as well. But there was one question Sora wanted to know.

Where exactly was Sora being transported to?

And done! That is the ending of the very first chapter of Kingdom Evil 2 Remake! Man, this took a while to write; I thought it would be much easier, but I guess I was wrong. I had wanted to end the chapter where Xehanort had command over Kingdom Hearts and the X-blade because I feel like there were enough words in the chapter and I can write Prologue (Part Two).

However, I decided to keep the chapter going to see if I can write more words without getting stuck and to my surprise, I managed to keep writing words without being stuck, eventually finishing the chapter. Either it was because I've been so focused on this chapter for the last few days or maybe it's because I was determined to keep writing in order to make this story a good impression. Either way, I'm glad I got the chapter done.

I'm not going to spoil any chapters at all during the story since I wanted them to be a surprise, but I can tell you that the next chapter will be Sora's arrival in the Resident Evil world. I hope you guys are prepared for the next chapter.

Write a review if you like this story and enjoy the chapter.
