Chapter 5
the S Class trials begin!
(first part will be a quick summary of their fights in the first half, then the second half and the fights will be put in detail)
On the ship after they leave Haregon Port
"Wow, Its pretty hot today" Link comments as he does some simple workouts on deck. "really? I think your imagining things Link it's not that hot" Gray responds while clad in nothing but his underwear. "Thats rich coming from the guilds stripper" Natsu retorts back already trying to start a fight before the trials even start. Link quickly breaks them up and separates them by attaching them to some hoverstones.
Meanwhile Lucy and Cana use the opportunity to sunbathe trying to not mind the heat, Erza is exercising with Link and the rest of the candidates are doing there various chores on the ship.
After a while they spot the Island and Link let's out a long impressed whistle. "what's up with that Tree? It looks even bigger than the Great deku tree! and He's Huge!"
"Deku tree? He? dude your home is messed up" Happy comments. "Don't make me take back the hyrule bass I gave you." Link threatens. "and don't worry, after the trials I plan on trying to establish a connection with hyrule so people can accept Jobs from it, then I'll be able to show you guys my home kingdom."After everyone has a chance to view the Island Makarov brings the contestants to attention. "This year's trials will have two parts. The first will be a challange, you will have 8 path options and on each path but one, there is a challenge. you will either face one of our existing S class wizards or you will face another team in a duel. winner of the duel shall advance, and if the S class mage recognizes your strength or you beat them, then you will advance. once that first Part of the trials is over, I shall explain the second half of the trial at the campsite Link will be setting up on the island. I wish you all the best, And may the Trials begin! Were not waiting to land so go go go!" Makarov yells before all the contestants use there various methods to get to the Island.
"Master, you you have viewing lacrama on any of the paths? I would like to see the contestants and there fights, just so I understand the trials a bit." Makarov nods and pulls up a magic viewing screen of all the paths and where they lead. Natsu Takes path E and ends up encountering guildarts, to which Link is impressed by both of there strength. They see the fight between Cana and lucy vs Freed and Bickslow, and Lucys... unique method of victory. they see Juvia and Lissana lose to Erza and they see Gray and Loke fight Wendy and Mest. they don't see much of Elfman end evergreens fight against Mirajane, the camera angle wasn't the best.
At the campsite waiting for the contestants to gather
"let's see... some hearty radishes for a garnish... some hearty truffles for flavor... some roast bird for the meat... some rock salt to make sure it's not too sweet... and some bread to dip." Link mutters as he cooks the meal for all those who fail, and those who succeed as a break for before the second half of the trials. "and if they don't like soup some gourmet salt grilled meat with some stamele shroom extract to get there magic back."
Makarov comes by and sees Links cooking skills and gives a suprised look. "I must say Link, your cooking might Rival Miras. how did you learn to cook so well?"
"Well when you are forced to survive in the wild for a year or two, you need to make sure that your not eating shitty food" Link chuckled as he responded. "Plus from what little I can remember my dad was a cook so I guess I just have natural talent."
Gajeel and Levy are the first pair to arrive at the campsite considering they took the safe route, and they are followed by Natsu and Happy then Cana and Lucy, Gray and Loke, and Elfman and Evergreen. the people who failed follow behind along with the S class wizards.
"o.k I may have gone a bit overboard but here is some of my finest Hylian cuisine. I have some Truffle chicken soup to heal some of the wounds sustained from your fights, I have some Gourmet salt grilled steak with stemella extract to regain magic power, for Gajeel some prime rock roast from goron village, full of iron, for Natsu some Sautéed Spicy peppers, and For happy some salt grilled fish with some hearty salmon as a side." Link presents the party with his vast spread of food, all of them suprised by the care and effort he put into a simple meal.
"Wow Link! it tastes amazing!" Natsu compliments with a mouth full of meat and peppers. Gajeel eats his food and nods approvingly. "you'll need to take me to those Gorons you are talking about, this prime rock roast is good!"
Link let's out a content sigh at everyone's approving statements, glad they like his cooking, And Erza nods softly in his direction basically saying 'good meal.'
Makarov draws everyone attention back to him and begins to talk about the next part of the trial. " this next part of the trial is an exploration of the island. As all of you know this Island holds the grave of Fairy Tails first Master, Mavis vermillion. Your challenge is to find Her sacred grave before 6 hours Elapse first to find the grave shall win and become an S class mage along with their partner. it will begin as soon as you all finish eating"
After the second half of the trials start, Link begins helping tend to wounds with Miphas grace activated. his iconic sword and shield are on the bench outside the tent.
Links Ears perk up at a sort of shock wave as his right arm glows in defense. he notices that the master sword is glowing. "weird... I thought this was a holy island why would the sword be warning me of evil?" Link begins to mutter to himself when Erza comes over to ask about said sword.
"that sword is Pretty nice, do you know who made it? I want to know everything, especially if we're just gonna be sitting around till the events over."
"I mean i guess. I actually don't know where it comes from. it just sorta became known as the sword of the chosen hero. always sealed once the heros mission was complete. I thought about putting it back for the next hero but My sister told me to keep it, said she had a hunch I would need it. but once my arm got turned into this magical contraption" Link shows his right arm under the gauntlet, still holding resemblance to raurus arm. "I started getting glimpses of my ancestors memories. one of the faintest ones was my latest ancestor bathing it in flames and it powering up and... a woman accompanying him... I don't know everything yet, but I'm finding out as it goes on... sorry for rambling" he chuckles with a slight sweat drop.
"Its fine its intriguing to know there is more to the sword. but I'm sensing magic from that how does it hold magic" Erza questions as she reaches to touch the sword. Link attempts to stop her but she picks it up with ease.
"weird... I guess the sword recognizes your strength. and your Valor. but with the magic it has a holy magic in it, the ability to sense evil and emit energy beams when charged with light. it why I am confused why it's glowing. Tenrou is a holy place, not one of evil."
As they talk Levy comes rushing over, badly damaged and bruised. "Link... Erza! Gajeel... and I were attacked... Help!"
