Prologue:
Five years ago, we both found each other, brothers by blood but both experiments, we are the last line of defence for earth, we are SG-1, we are the O'Neill brothers, we are…
…The Legends of Stargate.
Chapter 1:
It's another quiet day at the SGC, Major General Samantha Carter/O'Neill the base commander, awaited on the return of SG-1, the team existed out of four members, after Hailey got promoted, she was sent to command the Military base on Mars.
So that left either Aiden O'Neill or Caleb "Kai" O'Neill in command. The two brothers are pretty tough and share command, although Kai chose to enlist in the Marines, like his grandfather on Jack's side, then there was Doctor Bianca Smarts, the team archaeologist, and Sergeant Tom Brogues from Aiden's Atlantis days.
The team was pretty tough, and could put up a fight, not that it's needed, Earth hasn't had any wars to fight, which Sam is glad about. She doesn't want her two boys to get themselves in any unneeded trouble.
The gate activated and she smiled as she looked at her watch. "Right on time.". She walked up to the control room and read the IDC. "Open the iris, Sergeant.".
SG-1 stepped through and Aiden breathed deeply. "Another boring mission.". Kai groans: "Agreed.". Bianca then nudged Aiden in the rib, "Come on Aiden, it's not that bad.".
Aiden sighs: "I know, it's just, I am twenty-four years old, I fought in two wars, I just miss it.".
"Look on the bright side, you got married to Brie, and a baby on the way." Brogues points out as he strips himself from the ammo belt.
"Yeah, I am one lucky guy, but it's just, ever since Hayes left office, the press was on my ass for the past 5 years! And the new president is a schmuck! I didn't even vote for him!" Aiden places the P-90 down a little bit more forcefully then needed.
"Is it because he tried to sleep with mom?" Kai asked.
Aiden sighs. He misses his father; it's been tough since his retirement. "It's been tough, I became the man I am now because of him." Then he remembered something. "Shit! Kai, we gotta role! Grace's presentation!".
"Fuck! You're right!" both brothers strip from BDUs and grab their formal dress uniforms and made a run. Grace wanted both brothers in uniform to look good.
Their truck was out the back, they managed to get the debriefing scheduled for the next day, they drove to her school and hoped that they weren't too late.
Luckily, they weren't.
Grace was waiting outside her class, the kids laughed at her when she said her older brothers are military, although, she knows about the Stargate, Aiden and Kai's origin, she found it hard to believe, since the public learned about the SGC, that no one believes her!
The tapping of shoes gets her attention, and it was her brothers, the eleven-year-old runs to them, Aiden scoops her up and Kai gives a kiss on the cheek. "Ready for your presentation?" they ask.
Placing her down, she walks in, and Aiden was first to enter, with his cap under his arm. The kids look at her in shock, the teacher, who was easily his age, got slack jaw when she saw Kai.
Although the brothers look very alike, Aiden was 6'3, and Kai is 6'4. While Aiden is blonde, Kai has brown hair, he dyes his hair to avoid the confusion. "Well Grace, it's not polite to keep your class waiting.".
Grace fired away with her presentation, even a few photos of Aiden at Atlantis, Kai in basic training, even their squad photo. After the presentation, the school day ended, and the brothers took Grace for ice cream.
While walking home, Grace was sitting on top on Kai's shoulders. Aiden had her bag under his arm, the trio got some weird stares, but understandable, the two brothers are legends amongst Earth. A lady jogger, saw them and run up to them, "Oh my God! You too the O'Neill brothers?".
Aiden nods as Kai scrutinizes her, "Yes." They said in unison. The girl squeals, she calls over a few friends, "Can we get pictures, we are huge fans.".
Fans? Great, now the two are seen as Hollywood celebrities, fucking great, what's next? Getting interviewed on the Kimmel Show? That would suck! After snapping some photos, and a few numbers on papers given, the brothers walk off, throwing the papers in the trash as the joggers disappear from sight. Grace looks at her brothers curiously, why do people treat her brothers like this? They are just her brothers, what makes them so famous?
Aiden had been asking himself that question for the last five years. He figured with the war over and the Trust gone, Kinsey dead, Simmons rotting on a off-world prison and Gabriela in a mental institution, he figured people would forget him.
Shrugging, they kept walking to the truck. The drive home was quiet, the radio blaring a hockey game. Grace shares their dad's love for hockey. Kai took a deep interest in baseball, which made Aiden laugh, he figured Kai would've enjoyed football more. But truth is, Kai believes that a helmet and padding is pointless. Aiden never voiced his opinion on that, Kai is considered a little tough. Even Teal'c needs to be on his toes around the guy!
Arriving home, Grace runs to the house, being greeted by their retired father, Jack O'Neill. And the guy doesn't look bad for a 60-year-old. Jack looks at his sons and smile. "How was the mission?". Aiden just smiles, "Peachy.".
Kai scoffs, "Boring! I miss a good fight!". Aiden rolls his eyes, "How's Brie?" asked Aiden. Since Brie got pregnant, the young married couple moved in with Jack and Sam, Jack sold the house and got a bigger one closer to the base but also closer to Grace's middle school. Jack smiles, "Both healthy, apparently that baby of yours has been kicking her hard.". Hearing that, Aiden makes his way to his wife.
Brie sits on the bed, slowly stroking her six-month baby bump, smiling, she left the Marine Corp when she learned she was pregnant, much to Aiden's disappointing, but she said it was for the best, that her one wish in life was to mother a child, his child.
The door was open, and there watching her, was her husband, the hero of Earth, Aiden O'Neill. Smiling, she opens her arms. Aiden, taking the invitation, loosens his tie and kicks his shoes off, climbing in next to his beautiful wife and cuddles her. "Hey gorgeous.".
"Hey handsome, how was the mission?" Brie asked, already guessing that it was boring. Aiden smiles sadly, "Routine patrol, more alien women trying to get in my pants. The usual.". Brie laughed as she listened, oh she is lucky she got the guy first, he is a catch, tall, blonde, blue eyes, strong, handsome. Yup, she snagged him just in time. But she knows how he and Kai are, both were from dark pasts, both only know fighting and survival. She snagged herself a fighter and a genius. But she knows that war will be his calling, it's just who he is. He desperately wants to adapt, be a father, but the question is, is he ready?
That night, he sat outside, on the roof with the telescope, looking at the stars. The creaking of the stairs grabs his attention, looking back he sees his dad. Jack sits next to him and places his hand on his shoulder. "What's on your mind?".
Aiden sighs, "Am I ready to be a father?". Jack smiles and says, "No one is ready. Being a father is one thing, but being a dad, is a different story.". Aiden didn't understand, what did he mean?
But the moment is ruined, Aiden's phone rings. Grabbing it, he answers, it was the night crew on base. "On my way.".
Twenty minutes later, Aiden and Kai arrive, there, they see someone they haven't seen in over a year. Aiden smiles, "Major Lorne!". Lorne smiles, "It's actually Lieutenant Colonel now. I heard you made captain now.".
Aiden hugs his old commanding officer and friend, "Yeah. How's the new team of yours?". Lorne laughs, "Rookies, the whole lot of them. Most don't know the different ends of a P90. It's hilarious.".
Aiden laughs as he imagines a bunch of green soldiers trying to figure out how to use a basic piece of gear. "Anyway, why the late social call?".
Lorne immediately looked sad, "Atlantis got hit, you remember Michael?". Aiden tenses up, "The son of a bitch that used a wraith to reactivate my damned nanites? Yeah, I remember his ugly ass.".
"He's back. He's not dead as we thought." Lorne says. Aiden receives a painful flashback, one so tense, he grabbed the feeding scar on his chest to steady himself. "I, I thought you killed that guy.".
Lorne shrugs, "The guy is a cockroach, stubborn and doesn't die.". Aiden knew where this was going, it seems that once again, Atlantis needed him, "When do I leave.".
Packing his bag, he sighs as he thinks about Atlantis its been years, but he is curious to see how things are going. Brie was at the door, hand over her stomach, "Be careful, he needs a father.". Aiden smiles and then realizes what she just said, "So it is a boy.".
She smiles, "Yes, and he needs his super daddy to be safe.". Aiden hugs Brie and kisses her softly, "I will.". Running to the truck, looking one last time to his house. Waving, he climbs in and sets off.
