Chapter 4:

"Master, the Lanteans have sent their warriors after you.".

"Who did they send?".

"Captain Aiden O'Neill.".

"He's still alive?".

The team set up camp near a cave system, about 10 miles from where Todd mentioned the lab to be, of course, no one trusted Todd, especially Aiden, John just didn't seem to have made up his mind.

Aiden took first watch, making sure Todd came nowhere near the team, Aiden watched him like a hawk, but something wasn't right, "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't decapitate your fugly as head.".

"I am amazed with your vocabulary, Aiden O'Neill, and to answer your question, if I wanted you dead, wouldn't you be?" Todd asked.

Sneered, "I watched many of my people get slaughtered by your kind, I survived because of my damn curse, families wishing me dead for surviving, people see me as a hero, but the price I paid for that title, comes with a cost!".

Todd tilts his head, "You are lost, aren't you, Aiden O'Neill.".

"I've been trying to find my place in the universe ever since I was fifteen. I still struggle." Aiden sighs, "Being half machine can be… challenging.".

Todd frowned at that, "If you truly were machine as you think you are, then why do you have human DNA? Why are you able to bleed, why do you require sustenance to live, why do you dream? Why do you love?".

Aiden looked at the Wraith, "How will you even know what love is?".

"Love is a precious gift, so is heart break, always remember, heart break leaves you with two paths, you choose which to walk.".

Aiden frowned, what does heart break have to do with this? Sure, he was heartbroken when Gabriela left him, but he found love, the love of his life, at nineteen! His dad had to wait decades! What does that Wraith see that he doesn't?

Meanwhile, Teyla was listening in, she never fell asleep for she was worried about Aiden, listening to him, she realizes just how lost a soul can be, he just wants a place in the universe, as she did, she found hers in John's arms, she wishes many times that John was Torren's father, but then again, he was the father that Kanaan never was.

Kai was witnessing it all in his dreams, he feels his brother's pain, his solitude, Kai also wishes those things, a place, a chance at fatherhood. Could it be that what Aiden was feeling was actually Kai's loneliness?
