CH.1
As Phoebe and her husband, John, emerged from the indoor country club along with Callie, Gary, and Trevor. They were inches away from exiting through the double doors to Ecto-1 up until they were met with an unexpected and vile display of racism. A member of the country club uttered the nasty hateful N-word towards John, sending shockwaves through the group. John, momentarily stunned, tried to brush it off and just get into their car and go home and relax, urging Phoebe to ignore the ignorance.
However, Phoebe, who is known to express her anger just like her grandfather Egon Spengler, refused to tolerate such bigotry. Her eyes flashed with determination as she confronted the aggressor.
"You have no right to speak to my husband that way." Phoebe snapped in anger. "He is a human being, just like you!. He helped save the world from a freaking Sumerian God, let alone took it upon himself to put his life in danger when doing this kind of work every single day. He deserves nothing but respect!."
"Phoebe, please don't. Let us go home." John urged her but more two cents have been put in.
Callie, Phoebe's mother and John's mother in law, stood by her daughter's side, her eyes blazing with indignation.
"This is the modern times. Don't judge my son in law by the color of skin. But judge his character." said Callie.
"You said it, Mom." spoke Trevor.
"That also goes for our relationship too." Phoebe declared, her voice laced with defiance. "Interracial marriages are not wrong it is beautiful. Love is love no matter the skin tone."
Trevor and Gary, who had witnessed the incident, were equally outraged. They rallied behind Phoebe and John, their voices adding to the chorus of condemnation. The aggressor, taken aback by the group's united front, was then taken by two police officers for an arrest.
Unmoved, Phoebe stood tall, her arm wrapped protectively around John's shoulder. She looked at those who are still looking and seeing them.
"We will not be silenced." Phoebe proclaimed. "We will stand up against racism and bigotry every day, for ourselves and for all who deserve to be treated with dignity."
John sighs and says with deep honesty. "Thank you, Twinkie Girl."
Phoebe looked at John after hearing her pet name and smirked. "Anything for you, GhostHead."
