One long, and somewhat terrifying motorcycle ride later, Cyber and Spike, along with Huey and Roxanne, arrived at Monopole. While Cyber admired the high, pristine skyscrapers, and the endless highways of flying cars trailing above them like a busy colony of ants, she could also observe the grime and trash that littered the lower levels of the city streets, the nature and citizens dwelling in them choked by the rapid expansion of the higher levels. She'd once heard rumors that Eggman himself had been the creator of this city, one of many early prototypes for projects like that Eggperial City she and Jack had read about in recent Restoration reports.
"Ah, home, sweet home!" Spike called out as she parked her motorcycle in a city parking lot. "Alright, Cyber, might want to get off! Roadways down here are too clogged to use the motorcycle! We'll get things done faster on foot!"
"-In a big city like this? Sounds like a good way to wear ourselves out early!-" Cyber replied as she dismounted the motorcycle. Spike just laughed in response. "Says the bird with robot legs! Now come on! I know a good place to start!"
After a short walk, the two women found themselves at Garf's, a small, seedy bar that promised service to anyone willing to lower their standards enough. Cyber stopped briefly at the entrance. "-Uh, Spike? You realize I'm only 19, right?-" The purple hedgehog just rolled her eyes at this. "Cyber, you can't even drink anyway, it'll be fine!" Shrugging in reluctant agreement, Cyber followed Spike into the establishment.
Flashing lights, loud music, and a presumed smell of unwashed Islander fur permeated the interior of Garf's. Cyber was thankful she hadn't invited Raccoon along for this journey, poor kid would've been overwhelmed by the assault on his senses...
"As if he needs more trauma right now." Cyber quietly thought to herself. "Hey Cyber! Over here!" Spike yelled, motioning over to a stool by the main bar, and breaking the canary out of her thoughts. Cyber walked over to the stool and sat down as Spike talked to the human bartender. "Hey Shelly! Got a 'Beaker' over here! Think we could get the special?" The bartender looked Cyber up and down, but not in the judgmental way the cyborg was used to. "Ah, got yerself a pair'a those Egg Tech arms, do ya?" She said, motioning to her own, more traditional prosthetic arm. Cyber brought one of hers up to compare, wiggling her fingers to show them off. "Oh yeah, got that full range of motion, don't 'cha? Wish I had that..." Shelly said, briefly touching the hard plastic of her prosthetic with her good arm. Spike gave a tender, reassuring touch to Shelly in response. "You're beautiful just the way you are, sweetie."
"Aw, thanks, Spikes! Now I'll get to fixin' up that special!" Shelly responded, before going into the back to start whipping up Cyber's special. "-She's awfully friendly.-" Cyber commented. "Well, we DO get awfully friendly with EACH OTHER, if you catch my drift." Spike said with a wink, before wistfully gazing towards Shelly's direction. Cyber nodded, understanding Spike's implications before a familiar, clearly intoxicated voice broke her concentration. "Cyber?"
The two women rotated their stools to see a black wolf with obnoxious sunglasses who had, near the end of the team's run, been part of Wolf 6. "!" Cyber muttered to the wolf, not really happy to see dear old "Chaz" and his creepy ways again. "That IS you, isn't it?" He slurred as he approached with an awkward gait, spilling parts of his drink along the way. "I thought I recognized those baby blues...So, you finally ditch that loser and his pet fleabag?" Cyber's hand curled into a fist at the word he used to refer to Raccoon, but she tried to keep her violent urges in line by turning to face the bar and making a quiet, pointed "!" aimed at Chaz. Spike had a light chuckle at the translation her earpiece gave, before deciding to try and de-escalate the situation. "Chaz, I think you've reached your limit, why don't you go home?"
"No! I want an answer! What did she ever see in that loser? I was RIGHT there, ALWAYS making myself available, but she chose HIM! I deserved her MORE, you know!" Chaz continued, his comments making Cyber stew even further. Spike stammered in her words, unsure of where to even BEGIN deconstructing that line of thinking, but Shelly stood up. "It's alright, Spikes. I wanted to close early anyway." She said with a wink.
Cyber hopped off of her stool, and, without a word, broke the empty glass bottle Shelly had given her over Chaz's head.
