Peter Parker was angry. Actually, it went way beyond anger, and it was much, much worse. He was filled with a cold fury that he was willing to embrace. Here he was at Stark Tower ready for a cattle call for a Stark Internship and he was currently locked in one of Ton Stark's Escape Rooms while the rest of the candidates went on without him. Because he was no longer with the tour, he was no longer in the running for the scholarship. One of the college applicants had taken offense that a child of fifteen had applied and been given a chance to prove himself to Tony. Even with Peter's spider powers, he had managed to surprise him and trip him. He locked the door, sealing Peter inside. Peter was so angry he was talking to himself.
"Fine, if that's the way you want it, so be it. I'm gonna get out of here and hunt you down. I'm gonna track you down and humiliate you in front of your little friends."
Peter knew full well how to hunt people, and because of his radioactive spider bite, he was quite good at it. He sat his backpack down, withdrew his Stark Phone and a miniaturized tool set. He popped open an access panel and tied his phone into the circuitry. "I'm gonna hack my way out of here," he hummed to himself. There were no instructions regarding this room, no identifying markers, nothing. He had his own AI program that he developed and was consulting with it.
"TIM, run a scan and let's get out of here," he said calmly.
"Sure thing, Peter," TIM replied. They were successful on the first try, but the door relocked itself immediately. "I'm sorry, Peter, but it looks like whoever tripped you and locked you in put a randomizer on the door. Every time we are successful the door is going to lock immediately.
"Oh! That is infuriating!" He slammed the heel of his palm against the wall, denting it slightly, then looked around the room and spotted a vent at the top of the wall. "Well, it looks like I'm going to be climbing my way out of here." He was beginning to wish he'd eaten more today. May's breakfast was unintentionally vile, and school lunch was additionally vile as well. He'd forgotten to pack protein bars in his backpack, so he was beginning to be a bit light-headed from low blood sugar. Oh, well. It couldn't be helped. It was what it was, and he would simply have to deal with it. He started climbing, opened the vent and squeezed his way into the ventilation system.
"Where is the Parker kid?" Tony Stark asked testily. He'd taken a big chance giving a slot on the roster to one so young. He'd shown promise but now he'd flaked out and was missing.
"I haven't seen him since the tour," Bruce Banner admitted, looking around at the scattering of cots in the converted break room. They had about ten candidates, and now, with Peter's absence, they were down to nine. Everyone's science projects sat on tables lining one wall, including Peter's. Neither Bruce nor Tony could tell what it did just by looking at it, but not that it mattered now.
"Cross his name off the list," Tony said coldly. "He knew the rules."
