Ruby
Ruby quickly scampered along the bank of the lake, sitting down as soon as Cranberry started calling the foxes. But still Ruby wasn't the first one there. Strawberry, Apple, and Carnelian were already sitting down, their tails neatly set across their paws. When everyone had arrived Cranberry began to speak, "As you may already know, the prey in the forest has been running low. And as you may or may not know, this problem has occurred with Thunder too." Cranberry spat the word 'Thunder' as though it were a rotten rabbit. "And since then," he continued,"they have been hunting in our territory, without proper permission" The other foxes began to nod their heads. Ruby had heard a bit about the trouble with the leash of foxes on the other side of the lake, but they usually didn't bother Cyclone. I haven't seen any Thunder foxes on our hunting grounds. Ruby tried to remember if she smelt something or heard something when she went hunting yesterday, but she couldn't remember anything. And what about lack of prey in the forest? Would we all starve? Hopefully this wasn't too serious. Ruby looked back up at Cranberry as he began to talk again. "As the better leash here, I think we don't have much to worry about with Thunder on our territory as we could easily crush them, but if they are hoarding and stealing prey that we own, we could be in for a deadly Snowfall" Ruby had forgotten all about Snowfall. It was coming up soon, wasn't it? It was late Leaffall. The trees were almost bare. They needed all the prey they could get, if they wanted to survive Snowfall. If they are stealing our prey then we would be doomed. "That being said, if anyone finds a Thunder fox in our hunting grounds, bring them to me immediately," Cranberry dipped his head, his gesture for the meeting to be dismissed. Ruby stood up and trotted into her den. She sighed resting her head in her paw, as she laid down. She got up quickly as she heard a commotion outside. She slipped outside quietly, backing away into the shadows as not to be seen. "What is this?" She heard Cranberry demand, looking at Cherry. What's wrong with Cherry? Ruby shifted a bit closer, so she could see what was happening. She realized he wasn't looking at Cherry, but at a scrap of fur she was holding in her jaw. "Why have you-" He paused suddenly. He sniffed at it and Ruby saw his amber eyes fill with panic. "Where did you find this?" He asked Cherry. "I-I was about to go hunting- on my own- and then I smelt Thunder so I looked around and found this," she dropped the scrap of fur on the ground. "Thunder," snarled Cranberry. "I will examine this later," with that being said, Cranberry walked away, holding the fur scrap in his mouth. So Thunder really has been in our territory. Perhaps they are trying to starve us. What if we all die? Ruby pushed those thoughts out of her head. She didn't need to think about that right now. What she needed to think about was catching prey. She set off to find a rabbit or two.
