Jay

Jay sighed. He knew Cyclone would be angry that he had sent out foxes to go and hunt on their territory. He just hoped that they hadn't realized. It was the right choice. He tried to reassure himself. We would have died without food. But… they aren't sharing their prey with us! Every fox knows that on Cyclone territory there is more prey. But of course the Cyclone foxes need something to complain about, so they take it out on us. He sighed once again. Being a leader sure was hard. After stretching a bit, he stood up and jumped up onto The Rock, so he could address all of the leash. He let out a sharp bark, signaling that he had called a meeting. A soon as every fox gathered in front of him he began. "Our prey is beginning to grow more and more scarce," he paused, waiting for the gathered foxes reactions. Some of them nodded their heads, while the others looked knowingly at him. "Yesterday, we only caught 3 rabbits and 2 small birds" Jay looked at their food pile, there were only 2 small rabbits in it. "We have tried stealing from Cyclone, but that is too reckless. We need to try and hunt for ourselves." He paused again, for a dramatic flair. "So that is why I have decided to allow us to cross the Lake Line." Jay heard gasps from the crowd. Never had any fox ventured out of the Lake Line. The Lake Line was a long line of trees forming a line a few miles away from the lake. There were rumors that the prey over there was delicious, and that monsters also inhabited the place. "Are you sure?" Asked a fox from the crowd. Jay recognized her as Diamond. "Yes I am sure," Jay responded. A murmur went through the gathered foxes. "Meeting dismissed," Jay turned around and walked towards his den, ready to think through his decision. Just as he had sat down, a fox walked into his den. Diamond again? What does she want? Diamond's hazel eyes darted around his den, nervously. "I-I just wanted to talk to you ab-bout t-the River Line," she stuttered. "Well what do you have to say?" Jay asked, looking at Diamond. "It's just well. Don't you think it's a bit too dangerous? I mean no fox has ever gone out there. And you know the rumors," she stopped and drew in a deep breath. "And. What if there is no prey out there? What if we all starve to death? I think we might have a better chance of surviving, if we keep on stealing from Cyclone?" Jay sighed. "I guess. But we don't want them to think that we are weak, do we?" Diamond shook her head. "I respect your decision," she said and she walked out of the room quickly. Is she scared of me? How am I meant to lead a leash of foxes if they're scared of me? And now I have to make sure that none of them die by going over the River Line. I mean do I even believe the stories? He paused. Yes I do. Jay looked up at the sky. It was beginning to darken. I should have some sleep. I'll feel better in the morning. Jay curled up and fell asleep quickly.
