Near You Always

Lin wasn't usually one to abide to matters of the heart, stuffing down such inconveniences with work or liquor, but this time, she was able to make an exception. Things have gotten better, believe it or not, and she was able to connect, especially with Kya.
She sat on one of the couches in the bar, with Kya sitting right next to her, the night still young. They were tucked away in the corner, able to see the other patrons, drinking and talking. She held a cold glass of liquor, half full, and catching a glance from her partner, she placed it on the table in front of them.
Kya's glance darted up to her.
"You feel like heading back soon? We don't have to stay here any longer than you want to." Kya reassured her, linking their hands.
Lin leaned in and closed the small space between them. "Soon, but first..."
Kya stilled but then she tilted her face up and Lin moved in to kiss her on full on the lips. If only for a short moment, they were lost in this closeness.
The background noise didn't stop, and as Lin and Kya pulled away slowly, they looked up, and no one seemed to be staring at them.
No one even noticed.
Lin shifted and then she stood up on her feet. "So, shall we be going? Our drinks are already on my tab."
Kya nodded, and she smiled. "Absolutely, and maybe we can continue where we left off."
Lin raised an eyebrow, and then she smiled back, "Sounds good to me." She extended her hand, which Kya gladly accepted, and she stood up from the couch, onto her feet.
They walked out of the bar, hand in hand, and in for a much, much more enjoyable evening.
