Chapter 1: The Summer Begins
Once upon a time, in the land of Australia, schools and kindergartens had just ended for the summer. Every toddler, child, kid, and teenager ran out the doors of every school in excitement. Some children greeted their beloved parents with hugs and kisses, happily jumping up and down, asking their parents what their plans will be for the summer. Other children who had finally grown up as teenagers either drive home on their own or get picked up by either their moms or dads.
But, for a certain 7 year old blue Heeler pup, both of her parents greeted her like they usually would.
"Mum, dad!" Bluey excitedly exclaimed, giving her parents a big hug. "What are you both doing here?"
Chilli Heeler, the mother of Bluey and her sister Bingo, gave a little smile to the blue pup, but said nothing. Bandit Heeler, the husband of Chilli and the father of the two girls, decided to break the silence, "Well, you see, Bluey, we have some good news and bad news."
Bluey was confused for a moment. Had they both come here just to tell Bluey there was good and bad news? Bluey waited for her father to speak.
"The good news is; Stripe and his family are staying over at our house!" Bandit said happily. Bluey jumped up and down excitedly, but stopped, suddenly not knowing what the bad news was.
"Then, what's the bad news?" She asked. Bandit took in a deep breath, "The bad news is; Stripe's house had just burned down. Now he and his family have nowhere to stay except for our house."
Had Bluey heard that right? Were her ears playing tricks on her, or was it her mind? Bluey gasped as her eyes and mouth widened out of devastation. How? How was it even possible?
"W-What...? Y-You can't be serious!" She said, voice cracking in the process. "A-Are uncle Stripe and aunt Trixie okay?! Are Muffin and Socks okay?!" She threw every question at her parents as if she was playing some sort of ball game. But they would try to avoid Bluey's questions like they were playing dodgeball.
"Bluey," Chilli said, sounding sad. "They're all fine, honey, just breathe and calm down." Bluey did just that. She calmed down a little, but was still worried about her aunt and uncle, especially her cousins. She vowed that if anybody so happens to lay their hands on Bingo, Muffin, or Socks, they shall pay an ultimate, horrible price. That vow even scared the other Heeler girls and even the parents too, but they knew that it was all in the name of vengeance.
Still thinking of her vow, Bluey entered the backseat of her parents' car with an angry expression on her face.
"You heard the news too, huh?" A voice said right beside her. Bluey yelped loudly as she jolted violently.
"Bingo! Dear God, don't do that to me again!" She screamed and laughed at the same time, holding her right hand up to her chest and breathed heavily.
"Sorry," Bingo said with a smile.
"Well, that's what you get when you scare her every morning," Bandit said, looking back at Bluey with a smirk.
"But, it's funny!" Bluey exclaimed as she crossed her arms in frustration.
Chilli looked back at Bluey and opened her mouth, trying to get a word out from her throat. But her phone interrupted her train of thought, but answered it anyway.
"Hello?" Chilli said out of devastation. "Stripe?"
"Stripe? What's he calling for?" Bandit asked, looking at Chilli with confusion.
"I don't know," Chilli whispered, looking back at Bandit. Her head turned back to her phone, listening to Stripe's response.
"Oh, thank goodness! I thought that one of you guys got burned in that fire," Chilli exclaimed with relief, slumping on the passenger seat. Bandit too slumped on his seat, also being relieved by the response.
Bluey and Bingo, trying to make out what they were hearing, looked at each other in confusion.
"Okay, okay," Chilli laughed. "Yep, we'll meet you back at our house. See ya." She hung up the phone with a smile, and motioned Bandit to begin driving. Bandit pushed down on the pedal hard, and in a flash, he and his family were off on the road, driving back to their house.
