Chapter 2: The Sensible Fireball
When the family arrived at their home, Bluey immediately jumped out of the car door and ran up to her cousins.
"Bluey! How's it-" Muffin said, but was interrupted when the blue Heeler hugged the sisters tightly. At that moment, Bluey felt like a grieving parent hugging her children who had been lost for more than three days.
"Oh, I'm so glad that you two are alright!" Bluey exclaimed to Muffin and Socks as her eyes began to fill with tears. "I'm so sorry that your house burned down, girls. It should've been ours. Y-You and your family have a really nice big house, you really do! It shouldn't have been yours, it just shouldn't!"
Bluey tightened her grip on the Heeler sisters. They yelped as they felt their tiny bones cracking under the pressure of Bluey's arms.
"B-B-Bluey... l-let... go...!" Muffin stuttered, trying to catch her breath. Bluey let the girls go in a panic, not realizing how much pressure she was putting on Muffin and Socks' bodies.
"O-Oh, God... I-I'm so sorry! I-I was just scared and devastated for you two, and-"
"Hey, it's ok," Muffin calmly said, taking in a huge gasp. "Me and Socks are fine, honest!"
"But your house isn't; Your belongings, your couches, your Cat Squad stuff. Gone!"
"I know, I know. Even losing all of my Cat Squad stuff made me cry too, but the lives of my family were at steak, and we're much more important than just some silly old Cat Squad things."
Were Bluey's ears messing with her head again, or did Muffin fall and bump her head while they were trying to escape that fire?
"Glad you're finally starting to learn something, Muffy," Stripe said from behind Muffin, patting her head.
"Where'd you ever get such a saying like that?" Trixie asked, walking up from behind Socks.
"Both from T.V and you guys!" Muffin pointed with a smile. Stripe and Trixie looked at Muffin with a proud expression on their faces and they all gathered together, creating a family group hug.
Bluey, on the other hand, just stood there in place, bewildered and silent. Muffin was never usually this sensible, she had always been a furious little fireball at times like this. Had that fire somehow messed with her mental health, and how could it?
"Bluey," Chilli said from behind Bluey, "Why don't you and the other Heeler girls go wait inside the house, okay?"
"A-Alright," Bluey stammered as she fidgeted with her fingers. Bluey gave a little sigh. "C'mon, Bingo," She said to her sister as she held her hand and walked along the pathway to their house.
"Hey, Muff," Trixie said with a whisper. "Why don't you and your sister go with Bluey and Bingo inside the house, alright?" Muffin nodded her head and took her little sister by her hand, also walking the pathway to Bluey and Bingo's house.
