Chapter Six.

...

The next morning, Raven awoke slightly more tired than usual, the soft morning light filtering through the curtains casting a gentle glow in her room. As she stirred, her eyelids felt heavy, and a yawn escaped her lips before she fully opened her eyes. Blinking away the remnants of sleep, she turned her gaze towards the bedside table, her hand reaching out to grab her phone and check the time.

Her eyes widened slightly as she saw the digits on the screen. She had slept in much later than usual. Typically, Raven was up and about by 6:00 am, or at the latest, 7:30. But now, it was almost 9:00, and the realization sent a jolt of urgency through her veins.

A myriad of thoughts raced through her mind as she tried to make sense of why she had slept in so late. It wasn't like her to oversleep. But then, a plausible explanation presented itself, and Raven's brow furrowed with a mix of understanding and frustration.

The events of the previous evening flooded back to her—the restless tossing and turning, the incessant thoughts swirling in her mind. All because she couldn't shake the parallels she had noticed between her own interactions with Garfield and the undeniable chemistry shared by Richard and Kori. Here she thought their relationship was blossoming into something more genuine, but now she was left questioning everything.

Contemplating the complexities of her emotions, Raven couldn't help but wonder if she was overanalyzing every aspect of her relationship with her teammate. Were her feelings merely a byproduct of overthinking, amplified by the romantic ambiance of their surroundings? It seemed like the more plausible explanation, yet a nagging voice in the back of her mind whispered of the possibility of a deeper, more profound connection between her and Garfield that she had been oblivious to until now.

As she lay in bed, mulling over their dynamic, Raven found herself delving deeper into the intricacies of her relationship with Garfield. She scrutinized every shared glance, every laugh, every touch, trying to decipher their significance. Yet, the more she pondered, the more absurd it all seemed. She realized she was overanalyzing, comparing their connection to that of Richard and Kori, a comparison she wasn't sure was even valid.

With a frustrated sigh, Raven made a conscious decision to set aside her doubts. She acknowledged that their bond had indeed strengthened during this trip, but that didn't automatically equate to the depth of Richard and Kori's relationship.

Raven was quite accustomed to all of Garfield's ridiculous plays, especially when he was pursuing someone. Despite having some questioning moments, particularly during their time in the water, she was fairly certain that his intentions were as innocent as her own.

However, as she swung her legs over the edge of the bed, preparing to start her delayed morning routine, she found severe pain accompanying every movement, causing her to wince in discomfort. Rushing into the bathroom, Raven was greeted by bright red patches of sunburn over her face, chest, arms, shoulders, and back. Despite her diligent application of sunscreen before venturing out yesterday, she had forgotten to reapply throughout the day. The distraction of Garfield's spontaneity had consumed her thoughts, leaving her routine neglected.

Her skin felt tight, hot to the touch, and extremely tender, as if each movement aggravated the fiery sensation spreading across her body. With a grimace, Raven hastily grabbed her after-sun care lotion. She began applying a heavy layer on her face, chest, and arms, wincing slightly at the cooling gel on her burnt skin. But before she could even attempt to reach her back, which bore the brunt of the sun's fury, a persistent knock echoed through the room.

Rushing to the door, Raven opened it with noticeable aggravation, greeting the person on the other side with crossed arms and a glare. "Hey, Ra... oh... wow." Garfield's voice trailed off in shock as his eyes fell upon her sunburnt skin. "I see someone got a little too much sun yesterday." He remarked playfully, though Raven was in no mood for his teasing.

"I blame you for this." She stated crossly, her tone laced with accusation.

Garfield raised an eyebrow. "In what way is this my fault?" He questioned with a hint of amusement.

"You pulled me away from my routine, distracting me with your spontaneity." Raven chastised with evident frustration.

"You didn't seem upset by it." Garfield shot back, a hint of laughter in his voice. He knew full well that Raven was simply looking for someone to blame and he was an easy target.

Rolling her eyes, Raven sighed in exasperation. "Just make yourself useful and help me." She grumbled, grabbing his arm and pulling him into her room.

"You want me to run you an oatmeal bath or something?" Garfield questioned, offering a solution before Raven handed him her after-sun lotion.

"I just need you to apply this to my back." Raven replied simply as she turned her back towards him and pulled her hair out of the way, exposing the burned area of her skin. Despite the discomfort she undoubtedly felt, her expression remained impassive, her features schooled into a mask of calm.

"Can't you use your powers to heal it?" Garfield asked, squirting the lotion onto his hands.

Raven's response was soft yet resolute, her voice carrying a weight of resignation. "There is only so much my powers can do. I'm sure my body was subconsciously healing it while I slept."

With careful and deliberate movements, Garfield began to apply the lotion to her back with a feather-light touch. Raven closed her eyes, allowing herself to relax into his touch, a faint sigh escaping her lips as the tension slowly melted away. Gently, his hands began to work the aloe vera lotion into her hot, tender skin. The coolness of the lotion provided instant relief against the heat of her burns, soothing the irritated skin with each gentle stroke. The sensation was instantly soothing, and Raven felt herself relaxing under his touch.

But her relaxation was short-lived as she soon felt a new sensation, one of gentle hands intimately rubbing her tender muscles. While it felt good, it wasn't what she had asked for. "I just need you to rub the lotion in. You don't need to give me a massage." Raven clarified, her voice gentle but firm.

Garfield immediately pulled his hands away, a sheepish expression crossing his features. "Right, sorry... force of habit." He apologized before giving her a gentle pat. "All done."

Turning around, Raven regarded him with noticeable suspicion. "How many of these spontaneous massages have you done?" She asked, her tone curious yet accusatory.

Garfield sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, a guilty grin spreading across his face. "Not important. But apparently, I'm good at it." He added with a hint of pride.

Raven scoffed and rolled her eyes when there was a light tap on her door. With the door not entirely shut, Kori was able to peek her head in. "Raven... Oh." She called, her voice carrying a hint of surprise as she took in Raven still in her pajamas and Garfield rubbing lotion on her back. "Am I interrupting something?"

"Of course not." Raven replied defensively, her tone curt as she noticeably distanced herself from Garfield.

"Okay, good." Kori said, fully entering the room. "I have exciting news!" She exclaimed cheerfully, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Richard has booked all of us a Polynesian spa day!" She announced giddily, her enthusiasm palpable as she bounced on her feet.

"A what?" Garfield questioned, prompting Kori to open up the brochure in her hands and begin reading aloud, detailing the luxurious offerings of the spa day.

"Discover tranquility. Nestled amidst lush tropical gardens and overlooking crystal-clear waters, our spa offers a sanctuary for rejuvenation and relaxation unlike any other." Kori continued to read from the brochure, her voice filled with excitement as she painted a vivid picture of the spa's ambiance. "Indulge in serene treatments. From soothing massages to invigorating body scrubs, each therapy is meticulously crafted to revitalize your body, mind, and spirit. "Okay, Kori." Garfield began, attempting to interject. "I didn't mean for you to read the whole—"

"Unwind in paradise." Kori interrupted, eagerly continuing to read. "Escape the stresses of everyday life and surrender to the serenity of our tranquil surroundings. Lounge in our secluded outdoor relaxation areas, surrounded by swaying palm trees and the gentle rustle of tropical breezes. Feel your worries melt away as you soak in the panoramic view of the ocean, sipping on refreshing beverages infused with exotic fruits and flavors."

"And it keeps going." Garfield sighed in resignation.

"Just let her finish." Raven instructed him, her tone calm as she picked out her clothes for the day before disappearing into the bathroom.

"Rejuvenate your senses." Kori resumed, still absorbed in the brochure. "Pamper yourself with our signature treatments, meticulously designed to rejuvenate your senses and restore balance to your body. Indulge in luxurious facials using organic, locally sourced ingredients, or soothe tired muscles with a traditional Polynesian hot stone massage. With every touch, feel your body come alive with newfound energy and vitality. Come, indulge your senses, and discover a paradise within."

"Are we done?" Garfield asked, his fingers tapping impatiently against his crossed arms.

"Well, that is just the first page." Kori explained, her eyes still fixed on the brochure as she flipped through it, completely oblivious to Garfield's growing frustration. "It goes into the types of treatments they offer and their locally sourced ingredients..."

Raven emerged from the bathroom, dressed in a long-sleeved shirt and her sunhat. She was clearly taking extra precautions to ensure her skin remained protected to avoid further sunburn.

"Oh, good, you're ready." Kori exclaimed excitedly.

"Madonna could have gotten ready in the time it took to read that brochure." Garfield muttered under his breath, his annoyance palpable as he rolled his eyes.

...

Upon arriving at the spa, the anticipation of relaxation was palpable. Stepping into the serene oasis that surrounded them, they were enveloped by the tranquil ambiance—lush greenery adorning every corner, the gentle sound of trickling water soothing their senses, and the soft hum of soothing music lulling them into a state of calm.

Kori couldn't contain her excitement, her eyes sparkling with anticipation as she led the way through the inviting space. "Isn't this place wondrous?" She exclaimed, her voice filled with wonder and awe.

Raven nodded in agreement, a soft smile gracing her lips as she took in the tranquil surroundings. "It's beautiful." She murmured, her mind already drifting towards the promise of relaxation and meditation. After the unfortunate incident of her sunburn, this spa day couldn't have come at a more opportune time.

Approaching the front desk, they were greeted by a warm and welcoming administrator. "Grayson, party of five. Oh, you guys are in for a treat." The woman said with a genuine smile as she checked them in. "Now gentlemen, I'll have you go to the right. And ladies, I'll have you go to the left. Enjoy your day of relaxation."

"I guess this is where we part." Richard remarked, turning to Kori with a smile.

"See you on the other side." Garfield chimed in, offering a casual salute.

"Let's hope they have refreshments." Victor added as he and the other boys followed the attendant to their designated area.

"Farwell!" Kori called after them, waving enthusiastically before turning to Raven with a gleam of excitement in her eyes. "Are you ready for a day filled with relaxation and tranquility?"

"More than you know." Raven replied with a gentle smile as they made their way to the women's section of the spa.

Together, the girls were greeted by a friendly attendant as they entered the room, the warm smile on her face welcoming them. Her demeanor was gentle, yet efficient as she welcomed them and began to guide them through the day's agenda, her voice carrying a soothing cadence. She was ready to cater to their every need on this day full of relaxation. With a gentle demeanor, she explained the agenda for their spa experience and went over their treatment process in detail.

With keen attention to Raven's sunburn predicament, the attentive attendant assured her that they would take extra precautions to ensure her utmost comfort during the treatments. They even offered a special, secret Polynesian treatment renowned for its soothing properties, promising relief for her sun-kissed skin.

After receiving instructions, the girls were guided to a private room with soft, dimmed lighting and soothing music playing in the background. They slipped out of their clothes and into plush white robes and slippers, the fabric soft against their skin as they left their belongings in mini cubbies.

Led into a private treatment room, they were greeted by the sight of cozy chairs and flickering candles, the dimmed lighting casting a warm glow over the space. The scent of essential oils lingered in the air, mingling with the soothing sounds of trickling water and soft music that filled the space. As they settled into their seats, the therapists began the treatment with calming facials, their skilled hands working wonders on their tired skin.

Raven's sunburn received special attention, the therapist applying gentle, cooling products designed to soothe and heal her damaged skin. Each touch was careful and precise, ensuring that Raven felt comfortable and relaxed throughout the process.

Following their facials, the therapists transitioned seamlessly into full-body deep tissue massages, their strong hands kneading away the tension in their muscles with expert precision. With each stroke, Kori and Raven felt themselves sinking deeper into a state of blissful relaxation, the cares of the world melting away.

Finally, they were led to a room with two large bathtubs, each filled with warm, silky mud. The earthy scent of the mud mingled with the aroma of essential oils, creating an intoxicating atmosphere that seemed to envelop them in a cocoon of tranquility.

With a sense of anticipation, Kori and Raven eased themselves into the tubs, feeling the therapeutic mud enveloping their bodies and soothing their skin. As they leaned back and closed their eyes, they couldn't help but harmoniously sigh in contentment. For the next hour, they could lose themselves in the soothing embrace of the mud bath, their worries and cares melting away with each passing moment.

Gently interrupting the serene ambiance of the room, one of the attendants approached with a tray adorned with an array of fancy fruity cocktails, their vibrant colors and miniature umbrellas adding a touch of tropical flair. "May I offer you ladies some complimentary drinks?" She offered with a warm smile.

Kori's eyes lit up with delight as she graciously accepted her drink, her excitement evident as she admired the colorful concoction, complete with fresh fruit garnishes. "Oh, Raven, isn't this wonderful?" She gushed, taking a bite of her pineapple slice with gusto.

Raven accepted her drink with a smile, feeling a sense of relaxation wash over her as she took in the tranquil atmosphere of the spa. "I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about bathing in mud, but this is quite nice." She admitted before taking a sip of her drink.

Kori nodded in agreement, her enthusiasm bubbling over as she spoke. "Not just the spa, though I am thoroughly enjoying it. I'm talking about Hawaii in general—the ambiance, the scenery, the colors…" She trailed off, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Oh, I agree. Hawaii was definitely a good choice for a vacation." Raven agreed, closing her eyes and leaning back into the tub.

"I've had such a wonderful time with Richard. Who knew he could be so romantic." Kori continued, her voice filled with admiration. "We went sightseeing, sailing on a boat, swimming with dolphins. He even took me to a dance class!"

Still entranced in the spa, Raven's response was automatic. "That all sounds very romantic." She responded, tuning out Kori's starry-eyed recounting of her adventures with Richard.

"Did you experience anything romantic on this trip?" Kori asked, her tone laced with curiosity, clearly probing for information.

Raven's eyes shot open, caught off guard by Kori's question. "No." She replied hesitantly, her brows furrowing in confusion. "What prompted you to ask such a question?"

"Well…" Kori began, her smile hesitant as she searched for the right words. "I've noticed you and Garfield have been spending a lot of time together…"

Raven couldn't help but roll her eyes at Kori's insinuation. "Don't get any ideas, Kori." She retorted, her tone firm as she dismissed any notion of romance. "I assure you that anything between me and Garfield is strictly platonic."

"Okay, then what sort of 'platonic' things have you two done these past couple of days?" Kori pressed on, undeterred by Raven's response.

While Raven didn't derive as much enjoyment from recounting their activities as Kori seemed to, she knew that silence would only fuel Kori's romantic assumptions.

"Well." Raven began with a hint of reluctance, taking a moment to collect her thoughts. "He talked me into getting on a surfboard, which ended with him having to catch me from falling into the water." She recounted the scene with a roll of her eyes, the memory eliciting a hint of amusement. "But it wasn't so bad. At the end of the day, we ended up sitting on the beach, watching the sun set." She continued, her tone growing wistful as she reminisced about the peaceful moment shared between them. There was a slight pause as she basked in the memory before moving on. "And the next day, we walked the boardwalk, where he was determined to find me a souvenir." She recounted, her words laced with fondness. "After that tediously fell through, we ended up walking barefoot along the beach until it got dark." She finished, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of her lips.

Raven purposefully left out the multiple splash battles they had engaged in, knowing that if she questioned their innocence, then Kori definitely would.

"Hmmm…" Kori mused, her eyes narrowing slightly in a knowing glance as she considered Raven's words.

Sensing Kori's suspicion, Raven couldn't help but brace herself for what was to come. "What?" She asked, her tone guarded as she narrowed her eyes in response.

"It's just…" Kori began slowly, a knowing smile playing at the corners of her lips. "It sounds awfully romantic."

Raven scoffed at the accusation, a hint of defensiveness creeping into her voice. "Oh, please. You know very well it wasn't like that."

"I don't know…" Kori countered with a teasing grin, undeterred by Raven's protest. "It sure sounds like it was like that." Raven shot Kori a stern glare, her patience wearing thin. "Tell me, how did it feel when he caught you in his strong arms? Did it feel safe and warm?" Kori asked boldly, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

Raven's eyes widened at Kori's boldness, slightly taken aback by the probing questions. Garfield had held her more than once in the past couple of days, but she hadn't really thought much about what that felt like until now. And now that she was forced to think about it, Raven felt her face begin to flush at the accuracy of Kori's description. Fortunately, her sunburn masked her blushing cheeks, providing a shield for her rising embarrassment.

"What about sitting next to him as the sun began to set?" Kori continued, her tone filled with a romanticized perspective. "Did you ever glance back at him, admiring him, catching the array of colors reflected in his eyes?" Kori asked sweetly, her words painting a vivid picture that Raven couldn't help but find uncomfortably accurate. "And you said he was determined to find you a souvenir. All so you will have a memento to remind you of this trip you spent together. That takes a lot of dedication." Kori concluded, her voice hinting at a subtle longing.

Raven narrowed her eyes as she met Kori's gaze, her glare sharp and accusatory. "Maybe you're just projecting what happened between you and Richard, hoping the same outcome occurred between me and Garfield." She shot back defensively. But even as the words left her lips, Raven knew that her defensiveness was merely a facade, a feeble attempt to cover the undeniable truth behind Kori's observations.

Amused, Kori regarded Raven with a knowing look, her lips quirking up in a subtle smile. "If that is what you want to believe. However, if I was really projecting what Richard and I did, then I would have asked if you two made love as the sun set."

Raven felt a surge of frustration bubbling within her, but she managed to keep her composure. "Okay, I think we are done here." She declared firmly as she reached for a towel from the side table and stood up from the bath, eager to put an end to the conversation.

As the girls emerged from the mud, their skin glowing and revived, it was evident that the spa treatment had worked its magic. However, while Kori emerged relaxed and rejuvenated, Raven was left feeling more tense and on edge than before.

Raven tried not to let Kori's words get to her, but she couldn't shake the nagging doubts that lingered in the back of her mind. It wasn't like this was the first time Kori tried to push her into a romantic scenario, and Raven knew she was only tense because she had asked herself similar questions the night before.

Now, as Raven rinsed the mud off, she took a moment to remind herself of her own conclusion. Despite the picture Kori was trying to paint, there was nothing romantic between her and Garfield. With that thought firmly in mind, Raven felt a sense of relief wash over her as she focused on moving forward, determined not to let Kori's insinuations sway her.

With the last treatment of the day, the girls were led to a more public room, adorned with comfortable benches and large tanks filled with water. While Raven might have been slightly hesitant towards the mud bath, she was much more apprehensive towards this ichthyotherapy treatment.

Seated on a bench, the girls slowly dipped their feet into a large tank teeming with small fish. Kori was delighted by the idea of the tiny creatures nibbling on her toes, her laughter bubbling up as the fish swarmed around her feet. However, seated beside her, Raven wore a look of apprehension and couldn't help but tense at the unfamiliar sensation.

"What's the point of this again?" Raven questioned, her discomfort evident in her furrowed brow and tense posture.

"The fish pedicures involve small, toothless fish eating away at the dead skin on your feet." An associate explained, gesturing towards the tank where the fish darted about, their tiny mouths at work.

"Great." Raven drawled sarcastically, lifting her foot out of the tank and watching as a singular fish suctioned onto her big toe. "You know, I think I'm done." She stated firmly, removing her feet from the tank with a mixture of relief and discomfort.

"Oh, hey, there you guys are." Garfield greeted, strolling into the room with an easy smile. "Isn't this place great?"

"Garfield, come, let fish suck on your feet." Kori encouraged, beckoning him over to join them in the fish tank experience.

"So, where are the others?" Raven inquired, busy drying her feet with a plush towel.

Garfield settled onto the bench beside Kori and slowly dipped his feet into the tank, his expression a mixture of amusement and apprehension as the fish swarmed around his toes. "They are still in the sauna." He answered, chuckling softly at the sensation. "I got overheated and had to leave early."

"What did you get done today?" Kori asked, her voice brimming with excitement. "We got facials, full-body massages, Raven got a sunburn treatment, and then we bathed in mud." She recounted gleefully.

"Yeah, I noticed you look a lot less red." Garfield remarked, casting a friendly glance towards Raven. "We did the full-body massage. Then Vic got this 'specialty grease treatment' thing, while Dick and I did something with hot rocks. I wasn't a fan." He admitted with a chuckle, running a hand through his tousled hair. "But I did like their scalp massage thing with the cucumbers on the eyes." He concluded, a small grin tugging at the corners of his lips.

"Oh, good, we are all together." Richard remarked warmly as he greeted the group. His footsteps were light as he approached, the soft fabric of his robe swaying with each step. With a smile lifting his face, he made his way over to Kori, standing behind her as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders in an embrace.

"Man, I don't know about you guys, but I am feeling thoroughly relaxed." Victor announced, making his presence known with a contented stretch, his demeanor reflecting the shared sense of tranquility and contentment that enveloped them all.

...

The Titans left the spa with a collective sigh of serenity, their bodies rejuvenated, and their minds refreshed. Their skin felt as soft as silk and the tension in their muscles had melted away under the skilled hands of the spa therapists. The subtle scent of essential oils lingered around them like a comforting embrace, a reminder of the serenity they had experienced throughout the day.

Surprisingly, a day of relaxation had worked up an appetite, and the group found themselves eagerly anticipating a hearty supper back at the hotel. Upon arriving back at the resort, they were pleasantly surprised to find a live band playing on the patio, their music weaving through the evening air with infectious energy. The rhythmic beat beckoned them closer, promising an evening of lively entertainment, carefree revelry, and fruity cocktails.

After a satisfying meal that left their appetites satiated and their spirits high, the Titans were drawn to the patio by the irresistible allure of dancing and drinks under the vast expanse of the starlit sky. As they stepped onto the patio, they were enveloped in a whirlwind of excitement and energy, the vibrant ambiance electrifying the air around them.

Kori's long, fiery-red hair cascaded down her back in a waterfall of curls, each strand catching the soft glow of the patio lights as she moved gracefully across the dance floor with Richard. Her dress, adorned with tropical flowers, swayed elegantly with her every step, accentuating the fluidity of her movements and the length of her toned legs.

Richard stood close to her, their bodies moving in perfect harmony as they danced in an intimate, rhythmic duet. His touch was gentle yet possessive, his hands tracing a path along her body with practiced ease. From the light brush of his fingertips along her arms to the firm grip of his hand on her waist, every touch spoke of his love and devotion.

Kori's emerald-green eyes sparkled with unbridled joy in the dim lighting, their luminescence drawing the gaze of onlookers as she surrendered herself to the music. With each graceful twirl and elegant dip, she moved with a confidence that was as captivating as it was infectious, her movements otherworldly in their grace and precision.

As her hair swayed in time with her movements, Kori's heart pounded with excitement, her senses alive with the pulsating rhythm of the music. In Richard's arms, she felt safe and free, ready to let the night carry her away on a wave of exhilaration and passion.

With skilled precision, the couple commanded the attention of the other guests, their movements a mesmerizing blend of romance and artistry. It was evident that they were drawing upon the skills they had honed from their recent dance class, transforming the dance floor into a stage for their own enchanting performance. And as they danced beneath the starry sky, their love and connection radiated like a beacon, illuminating the night with its undeniable brilliance.

From the sidelines, Raven watched the couple with a soft smile gracing her lips and a warmth blossoming in her heart. Normally, she didn't care for such theatrical displays of affection, finding them often superficial and contrived. However, as she observed Kori and Richard twirling and swaying in perfect harmony, she couldn't help but feel a sense of genuine happiness for them. Their connection was profound, their love radiating like a beacon in the dimly lit patio.

Raven found this small party to be a fitting conclusion to the day spent at the spa. It offered a peaceful contrast to the chaotic and often extreme parties her friends had dragged her to in the past. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back, the gentle hum of conversation and soft music creating an ambiance of tranquility. The patio was not overly crowded or rambunctious, allowing for intimate moments to be shared without distraction. The band's music was a soothing melody that filled the air with its melodic strains, perfect for a couple to sway to in the moonlit night.

As Raven's gaze drifted away from the dancing couple, it landed on Victor by the bar, his charismatic presence drawing her attention. Once again, he had found himself in the company of his two lady friends, his easy charm and playful demeanor effortlessly captivating them. Raven couldn't help but feel a hint of amusement as she observed his flirtatious maneuvers, his confidence shining through in every gesture and word.

She watched as Victor leaned casually against the bar, his half-lidded eyes admiring the girls as he engaged in playful banter. His hand would sweep over his bald head in a mock gesture of grooming. And a mischievous grin would creep on his face as he leaned closer and whispered something in their ears. The girls, in turn, would respond with laughter and smiles, their eyes twinkling with amusement at his antics.

It felt like only yesterday that Victor had confided in her about his insecurities regarding his cybernetic appearance, his struggles with self-confidence and his fears of rejection. And yet, here he was, confidently putting himself out there and embracing life with gusto. Raven felt a swell of pride in her friend's growth and resilience. It was a testament to his strength and determination that he had not just one, but two beautiful companions under each of his robotic arms. The scene was a testament that true beauty lies not in appearances, but in the courage to embrace oneself fully.

With Kori and Richard lost in their own world on the dance floor and Victor engrossed in his lady companions at the bar, Raven's gaze swept across the patio in search of the missing member of their group. She knew from past experience that the moment she began to wonder about Garfield's whereabouts, he would inevitably appear as if summoned by her thoughts. But despite her anticipation, he seemed to have vanished into thin air.

A curious sense of disappointment crept over Raven at Garfield's absence, catching her off guard. Had she truly become so accustomed to his presence that his absence now left her feeling strangely adrift? She pondered this question quietly as she scanned the crowd, her brow furrowing in thought.

Relief flooded through her when she felt a familiar presence beside her, the comforting weight of his presence reassuring in its familiarity. "Looking for someone?" Garfield asked with a hint of intrigue.

Raven turned to face him, a small smile gracing her lips. "I might have wondered where you ran off to." She replied casually, her tone betraying none of the relief she felt at his return.

Garfield ran a hand through his tousled hair as he leaned in closer to her. "Awe, did you miss me?" He asked playfully, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips.

"Don't flatter yourself." Raven countered, matching his endearing playful banter with a hint of amusement. "I just like to keep an eye out for all of my friends."

"Yeah, and it's pretty hard trying to keep your eyes off those two." Garfield remarked, turning his attention back to the couple on the dance floor.

As Raven followed his gaze, she couldn't help but notice the shift in Kori and Richard's dance. What had started as a lovely, romantic sway had evolved into something far more intimate, their bodies pressed close together in a display reminiscent of scenes from Dirty Dancing.

Garfield leaned closer to her, getting quite close to her ear. "Okay, now they need to get a room." He whispered in amusement.

Raven stifled a chuckle, her own amusement mirroring his. "No kidding." She agreed, her gaze lingering on the couple as they continued to move in perfect harmony, oblivious to the world around them.

"So..." Garfield began, drawing Raven's attention back to him. "I may have got you something."

"Really?" Raven said with noticeable intrigue, her eyes narrowing slightly as she watched him reach into his pocket. "It better not be a shark tooth."

"It's not a shark tooth." Garfield responded with playful defense, his lips curving into a mischievous smile. He pulled out a small box from his pocket and extended it towards her.

Taking the gift, Raven stared at the neatly packaged box adorned with a delicate ribbon. The lavishness of the packaging caused her to question the meaning behind this supposedly friendly present. It was far more elaborate than what she was used to receiving, especially from Garfield.

"The presentation is a little much." She commented, arching an eyebrow. The craftsmanship of the wrapping suggested a level of thoughtfulness that went beyond a casual gift.

With a smile on his face, Garfield completely ignored the critique. "Just open it."

Raven couldn't help but do a slight roll of her eyes at his insistence before carefully untying the ribbon and opening the box. Her defensive tone quickly shifted as she stared at the silver dolphin necklace nestled inside. There was a noticeable pause as she took in the gift, its simplicity contrasting beautifully with the elaborate packaging. She could feel the weight of Garfield's gaze on her as she gently lifted the necklace, the cool metal glinting under the patio lights.

For a moment, Raven stood in silence, her heart fluttering with unexpected emotion. She could feel a warmth spreading through her chest, a surprising yet delightful contrast to her usual stoicism. While this necklace was not her usual style of jewelry, the meaning behind it made it something special. The significance of the dolphin, symbolizing their time watching the sunset together, wasn't lost on her.

"You needed a souvenir." Garfield spoke, breaking the silence. "Maybe it's not as meaningful as I would have liked—"

"No." Raven quickly interrupted, her tone soft yet firm. "There's meaning behind it. It's perfect."

"Oh." Garfield said, a look of genuine surprise crossing his face. "So, I did it? I found you the perfect souvenir?"

With a hint of a smile, Raven gave him a slight nod in confirmation. She then handed him the necklace and turned around, moving her hair out of the way to expose her neck. The gesture was both intimate and trusting, allowing Garfield to take the necklace and gently fasten it around her.

From behind her, Raven could sense Garfield doing some sort of ridiculous victory dance, his movements exaggerated and playful. Even if he tried to disguise it by the time she turned around, the corners of his mouth still twitched with barely contained excitement.

Facing him, Raven was about to thank him, but there was a moment of pause as their eyes locked. Raven soon found her appreciation replaced with confusion as she regarded him. While she looked at Garfield with a mixture of gratitude and admiration, she noticed a flicker of hesitation in his eyes. It was as if he was holding back something deeper, something unspoken.

Their eyes remained locked as Raven tried to get a read on Garfield, but the more she stared at him, the more she began to question the strange longing she saw in his gaze. There was an intensity there that caused an array of conflicting emotions to stir inside her. Her confusion contrasted with her excitement, creating a storm of feelings that made it difficult to think clearly. She felt an urgent need for answers, yet there was a thrilling edge to the uncertainty, a tantalizing excitement in not knowing what would happen next.

With her heart thumping a little faster in her chest, Raven watched him closely. His playful demeanor seemed to fade, replaced by an expression of growing seriousness. The moment felt charged with unspoken words and unacknowledged feelings. Garfield took a hesitant step closer, closing the gap between them. His eyes never left hers, the depth of his gaze sending shivers down her spine.

As he leaned in slightly, Raven's breath caught in her throat. The world around them seemed to blur, the music and laughter fading into the background. Every fiber of her being was focused on his proximity, the warmth of his presence, and the unspoken tension crackling between them.

However, before she could ask what he was doing, Richard and Kori approached them, their presence breaking the intimate bubble that had formed. With the arrival of their friends, Raven watched as Garfield noticeably distanced himself from her. The sudden shift in atmosphere was palpable, and the unspoken moment between them was abruptly interrupted. Garfield's strange behavior left Raven questioning his motives, but she didn't have much time to dwell on it as her attention was drawn to Richard and Kori.

Kori was practically hanging off of Richard, her hands clinging onto him with a magnetic intensity, while Richard had a possessive hand around her waist. It was clear that their intense dance had only fueled the passion within them.

"We're going to call it a night. We're feeling kind of tired." Richard announced with a knowing smile, his voice carrying a hint of playful insinuation.

"I'm absolutely exhausted." Kori added, her flirtatious gaze never straying from Richard. Her voice was soft, almost purring, and it was clear that their fatigue had little to do with the need for turning in.

Garfield and Raven regarded the couple with noticeable suspicion, neither believing for a second that their friends were truly tired. The gleam in Kori's eyes and Richard's smirk told a different story.

"They might be going to bed, but neither one will be sleeping." Garfield whispered toward Raven, amusement evident in his voice as they watched the couple leave.

"I don't know why they feel the need to lie to us as if we don't already know what they are doing." Raven added with a roll of her eyes. "However, it is getting late."

Garfield nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I'm actually feeling pretty tired. We should probably turn in."

As they headed back to the hotel, Raven couldn't help but steal a glance at Garfield. The earlier moment still lingered in her mind. The memory of his intense gaze haunted her thoughts, making her wonder what could have happened if they hadn't been interrupted. She pondered whether she needed to address the strange tension between them, or if it would remain one of those unspoken things that she dared not to confront.

The night air was cool, and the stars above sparkled brightly, casting a serene glow over the resort. Raven's mind was a whirl of conflicting emotions as they walked side by side. She longed for answers but feared the implications of what they might reveal. Garfield, too, seemed lost in thought, his earlier playfulness replaced by a contemplative silence.

Exiting the elevator, Garfield and Raven walked down the hall, their footsteps echoing softly in the quiet corridor. However, their feet immediately stopped as they approached Garfield's room, their eyes landing on the sock hanging from the doorknob. The sight was unmistakable, and its meaning was clear.

Shocked, Garfield stood with his mouth agape, while Raven regarded the sign with visible disgust. "Gross." She commented, the implication of the sock not being lost on her.

"Ah, man... the worst part is that's my sock." Garfield added, a mix of disbelief and irritation coloring his voice.

"So, who do you think he's with, Britney or Stacy?" Raven asked, her tone tinged with amused curiosity.

"I think it's both." Garfield answered, his annoyance evident in his voice.

"I bet you regret sharing a room now." Raven said, her amusement growing as she watched Garfield's exasperation.

"Where does he think I'm going to sleep?!" Garfield shouted exasperatedly, throwing his hands up in frustration.

Raven rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a small smile at his predicament. "Come on." She said, gesturing for him to follow her. "You can stay in my room."

Garfield's ears perked up, his distress quickly replaced with excitement. "I mean, if you insist." He replied, trying to sound nonchalant but failing to hide the grin spreading across his face.
