The Rising Plague

Nearly two years after Dr. Eggman's climactic defeat in his fortress, a new menace is on the rise. But this new enemy is unlike anything our group of heroes had ever faced before. And with the world still recovering from the war, there's no escaping the ensuing horror that awaits them. (Part 1 of the "War of the Undead" series. Rated 'T' for now.)

1. Prologue

Hello! It's me… Gadget. [nervous laughter] Uh… how you've been?

I-I know it's been eight months since I last updated you. Things have been, uh... intense for me. Being on covert and infiltration missions as well as patrol duty can really take a large bulk of your free time. That and training too. But then again, I knew what I was getting myself into the moment I signed up to fight for our world.

Speaking about the world, I have some good news. Reconstruction in most countries and autonomous regions have been completed, with the exceptions being the United Federation, Holoska and Mazuri, the former country having some areas still being rebuilt and the two latter regions suffering environmental damage within and outside their borders. Many essential services have returned to all cities and towns that were affected by the war, though water remains a major concern since we're still depolluting several bodies of water from all of those toxic chemicals that were dumped excessively.

With that said, now I must tell you the bad news. The threat of the Eggman Empire still looms over the world as it managed to cripple global security entirely and almost destroy the Guardian Units of Nations with a swift planetary assault. Despite defeating their most powerful weapon, Infinite, about a year ago, Dr. Eggman managed to escape without leaving a trace. Since then, many pockets of robots have started to attack settlements without any directive to follow, complicating things in the process. This means that we're still in war with him and his empire, and that peace may never come to us at all even though most of the fighting have diminished significantly in that time frame. [sigh] On another note, we're still trying to reestablish order on many cities. The official number of confirmed deaths has surpassed over 100,000 while more than 500,000 Mobians have gone missing a few months ago. And the lists keep growing with each week that passes.

To ensure that the Eggman Empire fails to conquer the world once more, and that global stability is maintained, all countries have decided to establish a joint coalition force known as the Mobian Operations and Security Service or M.O.S.S. for short (which, by the way, sounds weird when you say it like that). This coalition is comprised of the Resistance, G.U.N., the Soleannan and Japanese Royal Forces, and the French Self-Defense Force, among other forces. Its main method of enforcement consists of five task forces, nominated as Alpha, Delta, Echo, Gamma and Union, with several teams distributed around the world. Pretty convenient, don't you think?

Anyway, that's it for now. Sorry I didn't have anything else to say. Like I said, I've been busy lately with missions and other things that have kept me from resting up. I promise I'll try to update you more often with my activities and whatever comes up in the way. Gotta go now. Tomorrow I have patrol duty with Sonic and Tails in the City and I don't wanna wake up late. Bye!
