It feels like I've been married forever, as Marinette and I fell into a comfortable routine once we settled on our island. Its only been three months, but the stresses and fears we've been dealing with the last few months already feel like distance memories.
Currently, I'm sitting on the bed, trying not squirm as Marinette sprays me with a cloud of sunscreen. "Princess," I hack, inhaling some of fumes, "easy on the sunscreen, okay? That stuff smells worse then some of the hair care products I've modeled."
She frowns. "Do you want to be a lobster when you work out in the garden? Sunburn hurts. And stop squirming!" I think about this. "I'll be a lobster cat! Or the Creature Of The Claw! And I don't think I'll ever stop squirming." "Squirming I can handle. But the sun can give you a nasty burn!" I sigh. "Yes, My Lady."
"Okay, sorry for the lecture. I just love you," she leans down for a kiss, making my heart play a rhythm of its own. I take my straw hat she made for me, and plop it on my head. "I'll be in the garden if you need anything." "Okay, I'll be here, being a spinster." My happy expression turns to one of shock. "Marinette!" "What? That's what they call someone who spins on a sewing wheel." "Oh, well, don't go pricking any fingers."
She points to the door. "Bye, Adrien." I laugh, seeing her point. I whistle as I head to the garden. Besides Marinette, I've found the garden is my happy place. I was a bit impatient as I waited for the seeds to come up, but I weed everyday and water with devotion. Today is hoeing day and I want to start before it gets to hot.
Mid morning comes, and Marinette shows up with a pitcher of lemonade and some glasses plus a container full of cookies. "I got lonesome in the house," she confesses as we eat our snack in the shade.
"But the garden looks lovely. When the corn is ready, we can have a roast."
Even in the shade, the sun is like a cruel yellow eye, hoping to fry its victims. "Speaking of roasting," I shed my shirt, then flop down in the grass. Marinette lies down beside me, our fingers brushing. "Hey, Princess?" I whisper as we face each other. "Hm?" "I found something to plant in the garden," I press my finger to her lips. "What?" "Two lips!" I crow, then lean forward to kiss her. She groans, but she kisses me back and I sit up, cuddling her to my chest. "No, to hot," she shoves her hands against me. "Why, thank you." "Okay, I'm heading back to the house before I throw a carrot or something at you." "Okay. Hey, want me to bring back a fish for dinner?"
"Fine, but if you bring it back in your mouth this time, I will bonk you with my yo-yo," she warns, wagging a finger under my nose.
Once I finish for the day, I wander down to the beach, transform with my aqua powers and look for a fish.
I swear, all the fish in the tri-state area seem to not believe their eyes as this boy in a catsuit purses them. I take a few pieces of corn home, for Marinette's recipe for mayo and corn is to die for, but I don't feel that good when I enter the kitchen. "You okay?" she asks, placing a cool hand on my forehead.
"Yeah, just going to sit in the water for awhile," I mumble. Why is it so hot? Because Adrien you live on a deserted island and its supposed to be hot.
Later, Marinette finds me in the shower still in the cat-suit, slumped over and letting the water fall on me. "Cat!" she gasps, kneeling down. "Did you fall?" "No, but you were right," I sigh and give a grumpily meow. "I usually am," she jokes, "but about what?" "Wearing sunscreen is important and when hot, get out of the sun."
We're ravenous when we sit down to eat, but we're both quiet tonight, which is usual for us. Normally, dinnertime is when we catch up with each other's news.
During the night, Marinette is tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable. "You okay?" I finally ask, sitting up and turning on the bedside lamp. "I don't know," she confesses honestly. "My tummy feels weird."
"Weird? How?" "Sloshy. Upset." I lightly touch her bare tummy, and my fingers freeze. Could Marinette be pregnant? "Adrien, w-" Marinette cuts off her own sentence as she leaps up and streaks for the bathroom, and I dash after her.
After she throws up several times, she leans on me. Even though I'm a bit scared, I have to strong for her. "I think Emma might be here," she whispers. "We'll get an appointment for her first thing tomorrow," I promise. "Ready to go back to bed?"
"No, the floor is cool," she slumps down, resting her cheek against the titles. I sigh, wanting to keep her company but going back to bed is tempting.
"Will you kiss me?" she asks in a quiet voice and I can tell Marinette is nervous. I do, then begin to stroke her back gently, letting my fingers start to roam. Marinette groans suddenly, and I remove my fingers immediately. "That felt great, why'd you stop?" "Because you groaned!" "It felt nice!" I chuckle and resume what I was doing, and the world begins to fade away.
Being touched helps calm Marinette down and eventually I carry her back to bed. "Adrien?" Marinette asks. "Yes, love?"
She gets comfortable on her pillow, staring up at me. "Try to stay still…" I whisper.
Morning comes and I help her get up and dressed. I make her an egg, then heading to our small boat, we head out to possibly the next chapter of our future.
