Hey guys! Welcome back to another chapter. This chapter has ideas given to me by KNinjagoNexoFan47391, so I hope you guys enjoy it! Let's dive right into chapter 14!
Chase immediately dropped the bike and rushed to the edge of the walls of this mysterious black building. His heart was racing. He didn't know if they were okay, if they were even alive.
Chase rushed to the entrance and turned the knob of the door, which was unlocked. He was greeted by towering black walls that stretched out in every direction, leaving him to navigate his way through a maze of darkness.
Without thinking, he rushed down the closest path he could see. The smoke was more pungent now. His worry for the ninja increased as the fire and smoke became more evident. He saw rubble strewn across the floor as he got closer. Were they okay? His mind was racing.
He arrived at what looked like the site of the danger. From what he could make out, it looked like the place had been blown up.
Chase dropped to his knees, rummaging through piles of rubble, trying to locate the ninjas' bodies, which he was praying weren't broken.
He saw a leg sticking out from under a heap of destruction. It was gray with blue outlines. Nya. He instantly focused his attention on getting her out.
When he could see her face all bruised and battered, he tried to shake her awake, gently of course. Miraculously, she was conscious.
"Chase?" she sounded confused. "Is that you?"
"Yes, it's me. Are you okay?"
"I think so." She sat up with a little difficulty. Chase supported her as she did so.
"Where's everyone else?" Nya asked, scrunching her brows.
"I don't know. Haven't found them yet." To his surprise, Nya was able to stand, although she was a little shaken, as to be expected.
Chase searched the rest of the rubble, with Nya right behind him. Jay was found unconscious with his arm trapped under a rock. After they freed his arm, they looked him over. Other than a badly out-of-shape arm, he seemed rather unscathed.
"Jay, wake up." Nya shook him gently until he opened his eyes.
"Where–where am I?" he said groggily, attempting to sit up but ultimately failing.
"We were ambushed. Are you okay?" Nya asked, concern lacing her voice.
"I–I think so. I don't feel broken at all, so…"
Chase nodded. "Good. We need to find everyone else." So they did. They searched the rest of the area. Cole and Zane were found mostly unharmed, in similar conditions to Jay and Nya, but Kai and Lloyd had gotten the worst of the attack. It seemed like their bones were broken in more places than one, and they were unconscious and wouldn't wake up–not a good sign.
As the working ninja hauled Lloyd and Kai out of the building, Chase stopped, a vision ripping through his mind.
All he saw were the mind stone and water crystal. They seemed to be tucked into the shadows of a place unknown to him. Even though he was unfamiliar with the location of his vision, he knew for a fact that this was nowhere in the realm of Ninago.
Without warning, the vision quickly switched gears, now showing a gleaming crystal, also deep in the depths of darkness.
He shook his head, attempting to shake out the vision. When it faded, he looked towards the ninja, who seemed unfazed by his sudden vision outburst. Had they even noticed? Probably not. Chase thought it would be best to keep it that way, not wanting to worry them further with two injured ninja on their hands.
The four functioning ninja placed Lloyd and Kai gently into the vehicles they had used to get there. Chase climbed into the back seat, with Jay as in the passenger seat, and Nya as the driver.
Everyone else piled into their own respective vehicles, and silently, one by one, they drove out of the bombed wreck of Garmadon's hideout.
Chase looked back at the destruction as it became more and more distant. He shook his head in relief and didn't open his mouth one word the whole way back to the bounty. And neither did anyone else.
The quiet was eerie for Chase, but he was also grateful that he had time to process everything. Between two injured ninja and the mysterious vision he'd had, his mind was overstuffed, and he needed a break.
When they pulled into the bounty's garage, Chase hopped out and watched as the others lifted Kai and Lloyd from their makeshift beds and carried them gingerly inside, where Wu was waiting worriedly.
Kai and Lloyd were rushed to the med bay, which was actually just a downstairs bedroom that was unoccupied.
Chase and the others parted ways soon after, Cole heading to the kitchen for a snack and the rest retreating to their rooms.
Chase rested his head on his pillow, not even bothering to change into his pajamas. The day had taken a toll on him, and even though he'd gotten to the ninja, did he get to them in time? Could he have stopped all of this?
Those questions bothered Chase all not, and sleep was long-coming, but eventually it did come, and Chase drifted off, his mind still spinning in circles of regret.
That was chapter 14! Hope you enjoyed it. Sorry it was a shorter chapter. I know I always say this, but hopefully the next one will be longer! If you are enjoying the story so far, feel free to leave a review with any kind of feedback or suggestions that you have! I also welcome PMs, so feel free to message me. Anyways, thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more.
