We open on a quaint Mexican village as we heard Roxie narrating over the scenery.

"You see this village? You'd never think by looking at it that every living thing is infested with molecule-sized machines called nanites."

"That is, until they mutate something into one of these: EVOs," Rex narrated.

A giant cactus EVO burst from the wall behind them and tons of Providence agents were sent flying, except for Six, who landed on his feet and slid back coolly.

"This is our campañero, Agent Six. He's one of the guys who has to deal with them," Rex stated. "And right now, he needs a little help."

"So much for asking them to come along quietly," Six scoffed before he pressed the communicator on his ear. "Rex, Roxie, what's your ETA?"

"Right now!"

Six looked up to see Rex taking his Boogie Pack to the skies as Roxie leaped across the rooftops with a two-handed broadsword in her right hand as they both closed in on the plant EVO.

"And that's where we come in," Roxie stated.

"And how can we save your buttocks today, Agent Six?" Rex asked as Roxie glanced and saw at the center of the massive thorned vines was a cactus-like EVO.

"Okay, bro. We've got a cactus man in the center. How long do you think this'll take?"

"About ten seconds, max."

"Rex, wait!" Six shouted as the cactus EVO fired out tons of powerful thorns from his arm that blasted right into Rex, destroying the left wing of the Boogie Pack as he crash-landed onto a roof where he was caught by his sister and she winced as she slashed the thorns apart with her broadsword.

"Rex, you need to listen!" Six shouted as Rex morphed his feet into giant orange and black mechanical boots called his Punk Busters as he grabbed his sister by the arm.

"Hey, Six. When you get super boots, you can give the orders."

The machinery in the boots separated and Rex took off into the air as he grabbed his sister as she focused and summoned two bags of flour to her hands.

"That's one small step for me, one giant pounding for giant EVO guy!"

Roxie shouted out as she slammed the bags of flour together, blinding the EVO to the twins as Rex slammed down on the large vines and Roxie sliced them apart with her broadsword as the cactus EVO slammed her back and she was sent skidding to her guardian's feet as Rex walked up to her with a wince.

"So... what did you have in mind?" Rex asked.

"Our orders were to cure it or kill it," Six explained as he drew his Magnet Blades and charged at the EVO again.

Rex focused and morphed his arm into the BFS as Roxie summoned a large gatling gun to her hands as... just as a little kid came running forwards and hugged her leg.

"No, no! Dejalo en paz!"

"Huh?" she asked, dispelling the gatling gun.

"You don't understand, kid. We're two of the good guys."

"Estás mintiendo! Tu quieres matar Padre Jose!"

"Father Jose?" Roxie asked before her and her brother's eyes widened in shock. "You mean that thing is your priest!?"

"Six, hold up! That dude's a priest!" Rex shouted as Six started slashing at Father Jose's vines as the twins groaned and Rex activated the Smack Hands and he spun one of his hands around rapidly and dug a hole in the ground as he nodded. "Let's try going underneath to try to cure him."

"On it!" Roxie shouted as she leaped into the hole, followed by her brother as they ran forwards.

Six, meanwhile, continued slashing an kicking at Father Jose as the cactus EVO continued pounding him, sending him crashing into a building with a groan as he looked up and arched an eyebrow as he saw the EVO hesitate before falling to the ground, turning back to normal, his nanites deactivated.

The kid smiled as Rex and Roxie leaped out of the ground with a sigh of relief.

"Thanks a lot there, Six," Rex sighed. "Next time, at least give us a chance."

"We're at war. Orders are orders, even if we don't like them."

The kid ran up to Father Jose and hugged him tightly before smiling at the twins, who looked at each other, unsure.

"Are you sure you want to be doing this?" Noah asked as he was shooting hoops with the twins in the basketball court.

"It's no big deal, Noah. We sneak out all the time."

Rex shot a ball, that only bounced off the backboard as Noah sighed.

"That's an 'H' for you, Rex."

"A little normal goes a long way, you know," Roxie asked.

"You two make giant mechanical hands and smash stuff and can summon pretty much anything from thin air. There's nothing 'normal' about you two."

Rex then shot another ball and it hit the backboard again.

"You get an 'O.'"

"There's more to our job with Providence than smashing heads, Noah," Rex said. "I mean, that kid in Spain today was so... scared."

"Yeah," Roxie sighed. "I mean, to him, we weren't fighting some EVO'd out monster. We were fighting someone he cared about. We were the bad guys. There's definitely going to be other times like that. What are we supposed to do?"

"Did you two try talking to Six about this?"

"Six? He doesn't do 'talk,'" Rex said.

Noah sighed as he backhand tossed the ball... and it landed perfectly in the basket.

"I feel for you two, really. But personally, I'm glad you're out there helping how you can. Because as far as basketball skills go, you're hopeless."

Hearing those words, Rex quickly caught the ball and leaped upwards, creating one Smack Hand and then... immediately destroyed the hoop, tossing the ball on his enlarged hand.

"I think that's an 'H' for you."

Suddenly, the teens heard an applause as they turned to see Six clapping with some Providence agents behind him.

"See you, Noah," Roxie said as she and Rex left. "Next time, we'll show you how to slam dunk."

"A lot of headaches here today because of you two skipping out," Bobo told the twins onboard the Providence Headquarters. "...Bring me along next time, will ya?"

The twins and Bobo stopped to see Six at a door as he turned to them.

"What you two are about to see is disturbing."

"Disturbing? Cool."

Six opened the door and the twins looked inside to see what looked to be a deformed man in a tube covered in slime, throwing himself against the tube's walls, which disgusted them both as Roxie felt bile rise to her throat.

"No way. Is that a zombie?" Rex asked.

"He's not a zombie," Dr. Holiday said, stepping in. "This poor soul is very much alive, conscious of his actions but unable to control them."

"Like Bobo in Vegas. Cha-ching!"

"Isn't this Providence?! Make it stop!"

"What's doing that to him?" Roxie asked. "And how do we stop it?"

"Until about eight hours ago, the EVO on your screen was Peter Meechum, a top research scientist," White Knight began as he showed another monstrous EVO on the screen above the twins.

"We had hope he could be the kind of EVO we could reason with," Dr. Holiday explained. "But he's too far gone. Every attempt to get through to him has failed. It could make him a highly unpredictable target."

"To make matters even worse, it seems he has the ability to activate latent nanites," White Knight said. "He can bend non-EVOs to his will."

"Like old dancey-pants, here, right?" Rex asked as they saw the man colliding against the walls of the tube.

"As you know, when the event occurred, nanites were imbedded into the molecular structure of nearly everything on the planet. For most people, the nanites are perfectly harmless," Dr. Holiday monologued.

"Well, at least until they turn you into a monster and Rex and I have to go in and completely deactivate them," Roxie remarked.

"I feel fine! Really!"

"So this guy in the tube isn't an EVO?" Rex asked.

"Correct," Dr. Holiday confirmed. "All Meechcum can do is use the activated nanites to seize control of the victim's muscles."

A camera in New York showed a ton of other civilians in the same zombie-like state.

"Why he's doing this, we're not quite sure yet. But he seems to be building an army," White Knight explained as they spotted Meechum destroy the camera with a roar. "We've been able to isolate Meechum and his victims to lower Manhattan and have executed a mass evacuation. But we lost valuable time searching for you two. Needless to say, if you two can't pull this mission off, we're going to have to cleanse the area."

"What does 'cleanse' mean?" Roxie asked.

"Don't mess this up and you won't have to find out."

"Ah, the Big Apple," Rex said as he, his sister, Six and Bobo exited the Providence ship and it took off. "Always wanted to see this place."

"But seriously?" Roxie began. "Cleanse the area? I think White Knight's losing it."

"Right? I mean, this is New York City. You don't just cleanse New York City, right?"

"Just do your jobs and you won't have to worry about it."

"Cure, contain or kill," Roxie said. "Way to keep it simple, Six."

The team made their way to a clearing with tons of zombified civilians and Meechum literally lording over them as he towered above everyone.

"Well, they look and act like zombies to me," Rex said. "I mean, they even have that flesh from the brain buffet living dead walk about them."

"Feel sorry for whatever they were," Bobo said as Meechum looked up and commanded his minions to go after the team.

"They sure act like they want to eat us," Roxie said worriedly as Six ran in and smashed the zombies with a shout.

"Rex, Roxie, take him off the board and fast!"

"As if it's ever that easy," Roxie said as she clicked her heels and summoned her roller blades to her feet and a battle axe to her hands as Rex activated the Smack Hands.

"Get ready, Meechum. Because this crazy train is coming to a halt!"

They both launched over and across the zombies as Roxie slashed Meechum's leg with her axe as she leaped onto his head as her brother joined her an they both focused their nanites... only for Meechum's nanites to complexly repel them.

"It's not working!" Rex shouted. "He's not letting us cure him!"

Meechum slammed the twins back and they were sent flying into the street and looked up as he glared at them.

"You will join us."

Rex looked and he and his sister gasped as they saw Rex's hand was starting to get taken over by the same substance the other zombies had on them.

"This is not cool," Roxie said as Bobo groaned.

"You really need to get that looked at, chief."

Rex's hand then reared back towards the twins and Roxie eeped out as she avoided it and Rex gasped out.

"I can't control my hand!"

The impact suddenly caused a nearby fire hydrant to burst as Bobo leaped onto a streetlight and avoided it.

"Hey, watch the sewer water. This suit is dry clean only!"

"It's not me!" Rex said as his hand swung towards his sister, who dodged and rolled under a car as she looked out and saw her own hand start to seep the same substance. "It's not me!"

Roxie's hand stretched out and created a ray gun and it blasted towards Bobo, who dodged everything. The young EVO girl screamed out as she felt like she was just watching her body act out of control.

Six fought off the zombies in a nearby area as he dodged Rex's infected smack hand as Dr. Holiday sounded out on the group's comm links.

"Rex, you and Roxie have been infected."

"No fucking shit!" Roxie shouted.

"If you don't cut yourselves off from Meechum's influence, you both will fully turn."

"Great!" Rex shouted. "It's always something!"

Rex's infected hand picked up a car and tossed it towards Six, who took some leaps towards it before he flipped off of the car and landed safely on the ground.

"Six, Meechum's infected Rex and Roxie through physical contact. Whatever you do, don't let him touch you."

"Noted."

Six brought out his magnet blades and the screen went into slow motion as Six pulled off all kinds of crazy martial arts and sword slashes against the zombies before he brought his swords together and they sent out a magnetic pull towards all the nearby metal that he pulled towards him before he leaped over Meechum and brought all the metal down on the EVO.

"Release them, Meechum or-"

Six was cut off when Rex's infected hand swatted him away before pulling the metal off its master.

"Sorry!"

Bobo gasped out as he was blasted with Roxie's ray gun.

"Sorry!"

Meanwhile, White Knight was examining the damage of the infection done to the twins when he called up the general of the evacuation in New York.

"Barricades are in place, sir."

"Status report on bleach protocols."

"Moving in now."

A Providence ship moved into position above the military team an brought what looked like some kind of bomb near them as the team moved in to arm it.

"Rex, Roxie, you have to fight this."

"Easy for you to say, Doc," Roxie groaned out as she tried to pull back her infected hand. "You're not the one getting used as a gunslinger puppet!"

"Or a battering ram!"

The twins both shouted out as they felt at their heads, an extreme pain searing through their skulls.

"We're losing them. Guys, you need to focus. When have you ever let someone tell you what to do?"

Rex and Roxie's eyes shot open as Rex activated his other Smack Hand and slammed it down on the infected hand as Roxie formed a laser gun in her free hand that she used to blast at her other hand.

"Not today!"

The plan worked as the infection fell off of their hands as the both groaned out as they fell over.

"Que Gacho," Rex droned out as the twins fell unconscious next to each other.

"Six, Rex and Roxie did it," Dr. Holiday reported. "But their nanites have flatlined."

"Got it," Six said as he saw Meechum and his infected minions close in on the twins as Meechum reached out to touch Roxie's face, only for one of Six's magnet blades to come flying in and stop him as it embedded itself in the ground. Six then came flying in as he gave a roundhouse kick to Meechum, sending him sprawling back as Rex and Roxie came to and Six bared his swords at the zombie army.

"Thanks, Six," Roxie said. "Just give us a second to get our bearings."

"Why do you interfere?" Meechum asked. "We must obey. He has her."

"Meechum?" Rex asked.

"He has her."

Meechum and all of his minions started leaving the area, walking down an alleyway as the team followed them as White Knight's voice sounded over the communication channel.

"Status report?"

"The target is on the run," Six stated.

"You mean you lost him?"

"Don't worry. We're in pursuit."

"Wait, Six," Rex said. "Didn't you hear what Meechum said?"

"He said 'He has her,'" Roxie remembered. "I think there's information on what's going on missing."

"We have our orders. Let's go."

With that, Six began following Meechum and his minions, leaving the twins behind as Bobo walked in and smiled to the twins.

"What do you say we blow this joint and grab a pizza?"

"Tempting," Rex said as Roxie sighed.

"But you heard the boss. We have our orders."

Rex, Roxie and Bobo then ran off after Six just as he entered the New York subway.

"Meechum, all these lines are blocked. There is no escape."

Seeing some shadows passing by on the subway walls, Six brought out his magnet blade and saw two of Meechum's zombies in the metal's reflection. He elbowed them just as they attacked and knocked them down with a roundhouse kick.

Meechum appeared rom the shadows and was about to pull a fast one on Six, only for Rex to drill his way in with his Smack Hands as Roxie dropped in beside him, holding a massive battleaxe.

"Sorry! Couldn't find the stairs!" Rex shouted as Roxie shouted out and whacked the zombies back with her axe as she smirked.

"Aw, did we make you mad?"

The EVO opened its maw to reveal the face of Peter Meechum inside.

"Please, she needs me."

"Take him out!" Six ordered the twins.

"Punch him hard!" Bobo called out.

"I think we got him," Rex said as he reached forwards. "Let us cure you!"

The EVO's mouth closed and the twins leaped back to avoid the bite.

"No! This is the only way!"

"Ugh. Why doesn't anyone ever listen to the monkey?"

Bobo leaped down and brought out his blasters, landing behind Meechum as he blasted forwards, only for the EVO to whack the chimp aside into the wall, dazing him before he reached out and touched Bobo's forehead.

"No!" Rex and Roxie shouted.

"Oh, he just zombied our sidekick!" Rex complained as the zombie Bobo brought out his blasters and blasted at the twins as Roxie formed a shield on her arm and blocked everything Bobo blasted at her, deflecting them to the ceiling as the team all felt the pebbles fall on them as Meechum and all of his minions glared at them as Bobo aimed his blasters at them as Meechum and compan left.

"Captain Calan," White Knight reported. "Our agents have failed. The hostile is loose. Do you have a visual?"

Calan had a perimeter set up on the Brooklyn Bridge, prepared to shoot to kill any hostiles that made their way out of Manhattan. He looked through his binoculars to see the zombie horde led by Meechum making their way up the bridge.

"Roger, White Knight. We have an affirmative on that."

"Initiate Bleach Protocol."

That was when Rex came in while carrying Six on his Boogie Pack while Roxie lane, deactivating her jetpack as everyone glanced at the horde closing in.

"Six?" Roxie asked. "Is the Bleach Protocol what I think it is?"

"Cure, contain or kill. They're wiping out everything," Six confirmed. "We need to fall back."

"That's a big no can do!" Rex said as the sides of his wings flipped and shot out two fists that hit the ground in front of the horde as Roxie created a flamethrower in her hands and shot a wall of flame to block the horde's path. "This is just not working!"

"White Knight," Roxie said as she pressed her ear piece. "Rex and I think that a part of Meechum wants help. We can reach him. We just need something on him."

"You two have seen all the pertinent data. Fall back."

"No!" Rex shouted. "I mean underneath the EVO, the actual person! Oh, forget this!"

The twin EVOs rocketed to the sky as they dialed Noah on their cellphones worriedly.

"Come on, dude. Pick up!"

"Hey, Rex. Hey, Roxie."

"Noah," Roxie began. "You got your bike? Rex and I need you to check something."

"No pressure here, but the fate of about ten million lives is depending on how fast you get there."

Providence began firing smoke bombs on the horde, armed and ready. However, the zombies just kept coming. They ensnared quite a few of them using net cannons, but Meechum's zombies continued on, brawling with the soldiers and even tossing them into the Hudson.

"Fall back!" Calan ordered as the Providence soldiers turned tail and ran away.

"Calan, insert the key," White Knight ordered as Calan nodded, inserted the key into the nuclear bomb and pulled down the lever as White Knight pressed his hand on the console, granting his approval and starting the nuclear weapon's countdown from three minutes. "If you hear my voice, you are in the kill zone. All personnel have three minutes to fall back to safety positions. The area is being bleached."

Rex came spiraling down as he gave a massive slam to the bridge, sending it rocking and knocking all the zombies over as Roxie swooped in and used a warhammer to kock all the zombies aside.

"Knight, you can't!" Rex called.

"All these innocent people-" Roxie began.

"Are an acceptable loss to save millions more," White Knight interrupted. "You two had your shot and you failed. Fall back! That's an order!"

The twins were stunned as they pushed back the horde of zombies, only to feel Six place a hand on their shoulders, prompting them to turn around.

"Rex, Roxie, we have our orders. We need to move now."

"Or what?" Rex asked. "You keep telling us that we're at war, but what are we really fighting for?"

"Orders aren't orders, Six," Roxie said. "These are people! They have families and you're going to annihilate them all!"

It was at that point that the twins noticed Six run off to the bomb.

"Unbelievable," Rex sighed as he grabbed Roxie and leaped off the bridge before activating his Smack Hands to grab onto the bottom of the bridge as Roxie latched her arms around her brother's neck.

"'So, Roxie, how was your trip to New York?'" the female EVO deadpanned. "'Oh, just swell, Noah. We saw some sights, ate the best pizza in the world, tried to reason with some giant brain dude!'"

Rex then drilled through the bridge behind Meechum and his horde.

"Okay, Noah. Please, give us some good news," Rex said over his comm.

"Good how?" Noah reported as he talked with the twins over the phone at Meechum's apartment. "It's just an apartment. It looks like the discount furniture catalog threw up in a cardboard box! What am I looking for?"

"Something personal, important, anything!" Roxie shouted as Meechum turned to her and her brother.

Noah nodded as he looked over the pictures on Meechum's wall... and his eyes widened at what seemed to be Meechum holding a small child.

"I think I found something."

"Got it," Rex said, just as two zombies pushed him and his sister to the ground.

"Hey! We're on the phone here! Haven't you heard of privacy?!"

"You must submit! He commands it!" Meechum shouted.

"Who's 'he?'" Rex asked. "Don't you see, you fool? They're gonna nuke the bridge! Where's the win in that?!"

Meechum growled and turned to the nuke, which now had one minute left on the timer.

"You don't understand! I don't have a choice! He commands it! Or else!"

"Or else what?" Roxie asked. "Who's 'he?'"

"Van Kleiss," Meechum answered, causing the twins' faces to immediately pale before he touched their chests, spreading his infection to them.

"Who's Sarah? Is she the one you needed to protect?" Rex asked.

The EVO shell's mouth opened to reveal Meechum's head, who began to look at the twins with his own eyes.

"S-S-Sarah? He has her! I must obey! This is the only way!"

As Meechum backed off, the twins got up and looked to the nuke, which had 35 seconds left.

"Look, we can help you, Peter! But not if we're dead!" Roxie begged. "You need to calm down now!"

"Why? Why would you two help someone like me?"

"Because a person is a person, no matter how screwed up they are," Rex answered.

"Help us," Meechum said as the infection disappeared from the twins' torsos.

"Doc, we're shutting him down now!" Roxie reported as she and Rex leaped up to Meechum's head and got to work, activating their nanites, absorbing Meechums.

The brain monster shell that was his EVO form fell apart as all of the zombies he had infected fell onto their backs.

"Ugh! Gross!" Rex said as he caught Meechum in his arms.

Roxie then nodded and summoned her roller blades before she skated over to the nuke and pulled the lever, disarming the bomb with a second to spare.

The twins sighed in relief as Six looked to them, stoically as they shrugged.

"Yeah, that's right. Who's the hotshot now?" Rex asked.

"Sometimes, being a loose cannon has its payoffs," Roxie smiled as the twins high-fived.

That morning after the zombies were cleared of all infection, Providence showed up and started scanning and clearing them across the Brooklyn Bridge.

"Move along. That's right, you can go home now," Six told them all.

Meanwhile, the twins sat on the ledge of the bridge as Bobo hopped up to them with a smile.

"Hey, bud," Roxie said. patting his back. "Sorry that we had to beat you up today."

"That's alright, I spit in your oatmeal last week, Rex," Bobo said, prompting Rex to cringe. "So, what's happening to big head?"

"Oh, he's off to see Doc Holiday for a full exam," Rex said as the twins turned to Meechum, who was being led into a ship by Providence. "Lucky."

"Rex, Roxie," White Knight called over their comms. "If you two ever disobey a direct order again."

"Hold that thought, Knight," Roxie said as she and her brother took their earpiece out and dropped them into the Hudson.

"Sorry," Rex said. "We'd love to hear the rest of your lecture, but we have to find someone."

The twins then got up from the ledge and took off on their bikes as Six glared after them as the nuke was being lifted back into the ship.

"Save us some pizza!" Rex asked.

"What you got in your hand, green man?" Bobo asked before looking even closer. "The launch key?"

Six then broke it in his hands as he stared after the twins.

"You mean the bomb wasn't gonna go boom at all?"

"The twins were right. Sometimes orders aren't orders."

Meanwhile, in an unknown room with tons of drawings, a little girl, Sarah Meechum, was at work when she heard rumbling and explosions ring out from the halls outside the room before the door to her cell was blown off its hinges as Rex and Roxie stepped inside with a smirk, holding out their hands as Sarah smiled and took Rex's.

The twins then brought her back to Providence to reunite her with her father, prompting her to run up to give him a hug as everyone looked on, proud of the twins.

"Now that's what I like to see," Rex narrated. "A happy ending. Courtesy of us."

"I wish he'd tell us what Van Kleiss wanted with him," Doc Holiday whispered to Six.

"Still too afraid, we'll keep them safe," Six nodded. "One day, he'll talk. You did good today, kids."

Rex and Roxie smiled and fist-bumped before walking off.

Meanwhile, at Van Kleiss' castle, Biowulf was reporting the news of what just happened to his master.

"Master, I have some news. We had a situation at the safe house. Meechum is cured. It had to have been Rex and Roxie."

Van Kleiss could only stare on in disappointment at the news that he had just permanently lost a valuable asset to him.
