(THIRD PERSON POV)
Despite having just gotten used to the city, Chrome and the Twins had kept in contact with the old couple that first helped them. Even so, they were surprised when they were told to come visit for the holidays if they wanted.
"GRAN!"
"GRAMPS!"
Mai and Yui exclaimed their nicknames for the kind old couple who were happy to have them visit them during the holidays. All three of them were shocked when they heard that their son and his wife took their kids on a last-minute trip outside of the country to the states. So, they were a bit sad that they would not see their grandchildren this year, especially their youngest grandson.
"I'm glad to see you girls are doing so well, I hope you're eating right in the city." Gran said happily patting their heads, happy she can at least spend Christmas with them.
"After we get the bags upstairs the three of you should get ready to drop off the sponge cake so the three of them can give their greetings." Gramps said as he helped Chrome take some of the bags upstairs, before going with them to greet the neighbors for the holidays.
"Yes, yes dear I know." Gran said, chuckling at her husband's eagerness to have the three here with them again. In terms of ages Chrome would be just a little older than their eldest grandchild and the twins would be just a little bit above the youngest grandchild's age. So even without their actual grandchildren here, they still could feel like family was visiting them. "All right you two, the cake is one bottom shelf with a dome lid on a plastic plate, so you go grab it while I get my coat on." She said as the two girls responded in perfect synchronization.
"WE'RE ON IT!" Mai and Yui said enthusiastically as they nodded before skipping off to the kitchen like they were told. Though it was only a small farming village near the coast, they liked being right next to the outdoors more than the city. Even so, for Maple's safety they had to move to the city for when the time came she needed them to help her.
Once all their stuff was set down in the guest rooms, Chrome and Gramps made their way down so they could get ready to walk to the neighbors. "Thanks again for letting us visit you on the holidays." Chrome told him, likening the man to his own grandfather back home with how similar they were.
"HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU THAT YOU DON'T NEED TO THANK US!" Gramps said as he laughed, slapping Chrome's back gleefully, almost knocking him over. Despite being well into his eighties, the man still could pack quite the bit of force behind his movements. In fact, it was because of this minor strength quirk and his wife's minor metal manipulation quirk that they could run their all be it now slightly downsized farm together. Since his son had no interest in inheriting it to become a farmer himself, he had sold off a portion to their neighbors a few years back.
"I know Gramps, in any case I guess we're going to help with the community bonfire by being on the tree gathering team?" Chrome asked wearily as even with his body being stronger than it was back home, it was still hard for him. Though he suspected that their stats from the game affected their bodies here, he had no way of confirming that.
"Damn straight we are, but don't worry those three are going to have some nice tea waiting for us when we're done so look forward to that." Gramps said as he finished putting on his boots.
With that the group of five were off to their neighbors to deliver the Christmas cake and give their greetings. All of them, including the one they brought the cake to, were happy to see the three of them. The holidays began from that point on, as rather than in the busy city where everyone still had to go to the offices or warehouses to work, the farmers had a bit more leeway. This meant that everyday leading up to Christmas was like a mini holiday in it of itself. With what little work they could do in the mornings before doing a small event in the evening with everyone.
The first day of the festivities began with a big snowball fight on the open patch of untouched land with two small hills. They kept it like that for the kids to play while still a safe distance from the town so that the adults nearby could easily check on them regularly when they get time to play. Both children and adult spectators were made up of people from the two small towns and three villages near one another. Each team was evenly divided as best as possible, and each one took a hill to put their flag and make their fort. It helped that everyone there drank hot chocolate while watching and another batch for the kids afterwards was being made during the match.
The older men would make little bets to spice up the event, much to their wives and daughters' scolding every year after the match. Everyone had originally though that the team with Mai and Yui on it would have an easy win, except… their strength was too much. They would miss most throws or slip on the small patches of ice here and there under the snow due to their strength and natural talent for being clumsy. Though they still enjoyed it, they won only by a hair's breadth when the two girls used their combined strength to compress a big snowball and kick it at the other team. The result was it smashing the other side of the fort and getting an applause from the adults and their teammates.
The second day was a log chopping game for the younger men around Chrome age. Who then lost spectacularly as he was a bit out of touch with chopping wood due to not doing it for a little bit. It did not help him that the twins pulled a Maple, by trying to comfort him only to make it hurt worse by outdoing him thinking they would do worse.
The third day all the children who were interested went to the community center to make wagashi with the adults who volunteered to help supervise them. Mai and Yui made bears, turtles, and foxes to all their surprise as everyone thought they would make more Christmas themed stuff. So, they made their second batches with little Christmas hats, it was a little better but it still confused some of them.
The fourth day however was interrupted when a messenger from the HPSC came with a request from the president herself.
"You want us to take down some sort of giant ice wielding bird that made its way up one of the mountains?" Chrome asked in annoyance as he looked at the documents handed to him. Though he complained about it, he did see how it was an issue that they would consider a 'handle as soon as possible' scenario. It destroyed a whole town on the way up to the mountain, fortunately no one died and almost everyone was safely evacuated before getting injured.
"Yes, that is correct. There are no other heroes in the area strong enough to fight them, and it would take too long to send someone strong enough here to handle it." the messenger said nervously hoping that they would simply follow orders from the president.
As much as Chrome wanted to say no, he figured it might make the three of them look suspicious or rather even more suspicious than they apparently are to the president of the HPSC. Though he expected the power the twins showed during the entrance exam may have caught her eye. He still thought they still had time before they made a move for the twins, but it looks like they took a short break from Maple.
"All right we will do it, but don't expect us to drag the frozen corpse back down the mountain?" He said looking them straight in the eyes, making them yelp and look away from the intensity.
"Uh-Of course we do not expect that of you, we will give you high quality body cameras to wear that you can bring back as proof." they said, handing him the three cameras.
It was a good thing he had gotten the twins and his own winter clothes ready for the fight. That is if, and a very strong if, that they could withstand the attacks from this dangerous creature.
"I can't believe they are making you three works during the holidays!" Granny said with a huff, upset at how they were being treated.
"That is why I can't stand those city folk! Always barking orders at people thinking they will just drop everything and do as they say." Gramps grumbled not liking that the three of them were going to get pulled away for work so close to celebrating Christmas.
"There's no need to worry, they are going to transport us to the foot of the mountain and take us back right after we are done." Chrome said to assure them that it would be all right and that they would be back in time for Christmas eve.
"Even so… be careful and come back quickly, the big bonfire is too good to miss." Gran said, patting his cheek before giving Mai and Yui a hug.

MOUNTAIN AREA
(THIRD PERSON POV)
As expected, they had to also deal with the nuisance of a snowstorm as well while they fought a giant ice bird on a mountain top. Something that they all hoped their expectations would be wrong in this one instance.
"Why did this thing have to show up now of all times!" Mai complained in her winter version of her usual pink and white outfit.
"No need to worry, we just need to beat this thing quickly!" Yui said in her winter version of her own usual green and black outfit.
"AH!" Both Twins exclaimed the rock beneath them crumbled for a moment.
"I got you!" Chrome said as he caught them, feeling relieved he was right about walking behind them to catch them if they felt.
Their winter gear of Chrome compared to the twins was extremely simple, as he was just wearing a better insulated body suit under his clothes. That along with their gear came from a new hero gear producer called Green Bunny Support Studios Incorporated.
For Mai and Yui, it was akin to heavy winter coats where the main part was either black or white, with thick green or pink faux fur. Like an overcoat it had the fur around the wrists, neck, and even on the rim of the bottom of the skirt. They also had their own body suits underneath their winter costumes. Since it was made for hero work it had the standard fire resistance, corrosive material resistance, and tear resistance that is commonly incorporated into high quality hero gear.
The overcoat itself was also like his bodysuit made with the intent to contain their body heat so they would not freeze easily. This double layer may sound like too much but given how young the twins were it was actually well needed, especially for this mountain climb. They also had a layer of steel built into their fur caps that made head injuries less likely so long as the hat got struck rather than the face.
Their hammers were strapped to their sides rather than their backs. As climbing up the rugged mountain path was hard enough without the extra weight on their backs pulling them down. Due to fighting on a mountain they could not use their shockwaves and could only throw rocks or chunks of ice. They also could only swing their hammers if they were sure they could land a direct hit on whatever this ice quirked bird was. Based on the reported size it reminded them of the boss monsters from the videogame they would fight. This caught the attention of Chrome as he has had a bad feeling about humans not being the only thing to come through that portal.
"Keep your guards up and remember to follow my instructions." Chrome said both calmly and seriously as they nodded back to him, taken a bit back for a moment when they saw his eyes.
"O-Ok." Mai and Yui said in sync, worried due to how they never heard or seen him this serious before.
"I mean it… this might be strong enough to give even Maple trouble." Chrome said getting it across to them now why he was worried about it. Walking further they heard a screech and he pushed them into a snow bank concealing them except for their exposed faces. "Quiet." He told them in a hush whisper as they saw the shadow of the bird fly over them before curving up the mountain.
This flight pattern is what allowed them to get a full view of it as soon as it turned its back to them. It was this moment when the twins became afraid of the danger before them as they recognized what the creature was. It was the silverwing that Maple and Sally both barely managed to beat that they told them about.
"I knew it, we weren't the only ones that came through that portal… no matter what we have to stop it before it decides to come down to the human settlements again." He said unable to stop himself from feeling partly responsible for this. The twins felt the same, as it was a creature that came from their world, something that should not have existed in real life even back in their own world.
"Remember that unlike in the game, there are no respawns here… so hide behind me and focus on throwing from a distance as I block its attacks. When I manage to hold it down, then you can strike it with your hammers." Chrome told them the game plan for the fight, with one back up plan just in case they could not do anything with their first plan.
Continuing the climb up now that the bird was out of sight, they trudged along the mountain with the bad footing they finally made it. After three hours of walking, they found a cave and a feather outside of it that matched the creature. "We might have found its home; I will check it first while you two wait here. Make sure to cover yourself with snow on the side of the cave just in case it comes back while I'm in there." He told them as he quietly walked his way into the cave with his camera turned on, sticking against the wall if it was in there and suddenly flew out.
Getting inside to the large den he saw it was empty and filled with not just feathers but also animal bones indicating it lived here. There was no waste but there was the slight smell of urine, so at least this meant they would not need to fight surrounded by poop. Going back out he brought the twins in, warning them about the smell despite how little it helped.
"I know it is better to fight it in here so we can collapse the tunnel to trap it if we have to…" Mai complained as per usual being the first to give in to negativity between the two, with that said…
"But it smells really bad." Yui finished for one of the very few times that she did not remain positive when her sister got down about something.
"I know this task sucks but we need to finish setting up your throwing stacks near the entrance." Chrome told them as they hurried to finish their preparations to fight the creature. Just barely finishing it with a moment to spare, they heard the screeching of the bird just outside the cave entrance. Waving the twins over they huddled against the wall beside the entrance as it flew in, with it back turned they began the attack.
The twins started with throwing bones at, and due to their strength the pointed ends acted just like javelins not completely shattering. As a result, though the wounds were small they still caused bleeding, hurting it and getting its attention. With a powerful screech it created icicles firring them at the group as the twins got behind Chrome before throwing rocks now. They did this cycle of long-range attacks for a few minutes till the boss monster finally stopped its onslaught. However, this was for more than the few second window the twins used to attack it during said attack cycle.
Seeming to understand that attacking the intruders with a distance attack was pointless, it went into invulnerable mode and attacked. However just like with Maple and Sally, though less effectively he did block the attack holding it in place till it returned to normal. This was when the twins pulled out both hammers and smashed it using their tremor attacks as they were striking the creature directly. Though some light shaking of the cave was not a major concern, the fact that they would likely need to land several attacks like this did make it a slight issue.
"WE HAVE TO COLLAPSE THE TUNNEL! RUN WHILE IT IS STILL SPASMING AND COLLAPSE IT!" Chrome told them as it was spasming from the clashing shockwaves moving throughout its body. Deciding it was even more dangerous than he thought it was as last time he fought it as all he saw was the wide range ice attack. Not wasting a moment, they followed his orders as the three ran a few feet before using the combined shockwave attacks. Then he grabbed them and ran out of there as they threw their hammers outside of the cave before he picked them up.
With the cave sealed off and blood oozing from underneath the rocks he picked up the feather as they picked up their hammers. "For now, let's turn these off and go back down the mountain, there is no way it survived that." He said as they nodded in agreement. This time he took the lead in case they fell on the way down the mountain.

Using a technology quirk to access those cameras the idiots at the HPSC had that hero sibling team wear he saw everything. Sadly, it could not pick up on any audio from the camera but oh well, it was just enough.
Now he could immediately go in once the entrance collapsed without them seeing him teleport in. Using a few quirks, he stabilized the ceiling now taking in the sight of the badly injured creature buried in rubble.
"Hello, my dear Silverwing, I will make sure you are healed and given a new home where none of these nasty humans will ever be able to hurt you… at least until I call upon you to fight them." All For One said, petting its exposed head as it looked at him with displeasure but unable to put up any resistance as it passed out.
Clearing the rubble away he then had Kurogiri teleport the creature to the chamber he had made to hold giant Nomu that he had customized when they found out about the creature. To make sure they would believe it was dead, he released the remains of the kidnap victims so they would find enough blood if they tried to dig it out.

(THIRD PERSON POV)
Though having to commandeer the vehicle at one point on the ride home they got back in time as they had promised. Originally the messenger who started driving tried to drive them back to the local branch of the HPSC to have a video call with the president. This insistence that it was a rare and valuable chance to talk to the president caused them to try and ignore what they originally told them they would do.
As a result, they had to knock them out and safely stop the car before Chrome took the driver seat and they tossed the messenger in the backseat. Once they got back they woke him up and told him to have a good holiday before slamming the car door on them.
"YOU REALLY DID GET BACK IN TIME!" Gran said as she hugged the twins tightly patting the snow from their hair.
"Yeah well we did have to fight more than the bird monster to get back here on time." Chrome said as he turned off his armor before hanging up the twins' coats.
"I take it to mean he tried to force you to skip your holiday?" Gramps said, raising an eyebrow, receiving a strained smile from Chrome causing him to sigh.
"Now, now, have some tea and Yuzu. You all must be exhausted after the mountain climb and your fight." Gran said, chuckling as the twin with slumped shoulders let out sighs as they dragged their feet to the kotatsu.
"Well in any case the bonfire will start tomorrow night so make sure you rest before we celebrate." Gramps said, slapping Chrome's back and almost knocking him over in his excitement.
"Okay, okay just let me drop to the floor on my own." Chrome responded wearily as he made his way over to the twins who handed him a peeled Yuzu. Enjoying the night together the five of them discussed what was going to happen tomorrow night at the bonfire. While the three of them were out on their job, the middle of the town was cleared out of snow. Then they set up the tents and the logs they had been drying using the quirk of one of the families that had lived there for generations.
The festivities themselves consisted of dancing, marshmallow roasting, and though slightly different for the adults and children drinking. Usually with a lot of the younger guys having a contest to see who can chug the warm and very strong apple cider they make just for this time of year.
The twins laughed quite hard as they saw Chrome coughing up his tears running down his face due to how potent it was. As for the dancing they took turns with one another while the twins tried to see who could fit the biggest smore in their mouths.
Luckily for the twins they had Gran, Gramps, and Chrome there to stop them at three marshmallow stacks despite the booing of the other kids who wanted to see a winner… or if they would choke on smores that big. Either way it ended well for all of them, as both the old couple and the three kids (Chrome is considered a kid in their eyes still due to the massive age gap) who entered their lives suddenly helped with one another's loneliness this Christmas.
