Chapter 6: Undercover N-Tek

At Copper Canyon High, Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets had just finished up their History Class and were walking down the hallway to their next class. "That was quite the essay on Napoleon you wrote for class, Max." Yeager said. "Yeah. It really helps to know your history. That trip we made to the museum last week really helped out." Max said. On the way, they met up with Sydney and Kirby. "So, Max, your cousins tell us you wrote a good essay on Napoleon Bonaparte." Sydney said. "Yeah. I just write what I can while doing my research." Max said. "We spent last week at the museum, brushing up on our history." Wandella said. "You guys are lucky. I always seem to forget everything I learn." Kirby said.

Suddenly, Sydney gasped when she glanced down the hallway. "What's wrong, Sydney?" Max asked. Sydney pointed down the hallway. Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets looked and saw 2 identical, beautiful Japanese women walking through the hallway with the other students muttering to themselves about them while some of the others were a bit scared of them. "Who are they?" Xena asked. "They're the Fujikawa Twins. Shiba on the right is the principal, and her twin sister, Yuni, is the vice principal." Kirby explained. "The Fujikawa Twins are very strict and scary. They scare everyone in the entire school. Students, teachers, and staffs." Sydney explained. "I remember one time, they called in Butch and his buddies for bullying the other students and had them punished by cutting the grass on the field all day until nightfall." Kirby said. Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets were surprised to hear this. They never knew the Fujikawa Twins put Butch and his buddies through such severe punishment. "Come on, guys. We have to get to class. We're already getting late." Max said. The group headed towards their next class, Math Class. But as they passed the Fujikawa Twins, Max gazed at them with curiosity.

Later, during Lunchtime, Max, Sydney, Kirby and the Ferrus Quintuplets sat together as they ate. "So, Max, when were you gonna explain to us about those slugs you and your cousins used back at THI?" Kirby asked. "Yeah. How did those slugs manage to transform like that? And how did that one heal Kirby when he was zombified?" Sydney asked. "Okay, okay. We know when our secret's out." Max said. Sydney and Kirby listened closely as Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets started to explain everything about their slugs. "These slugs are from an underground world under our very feet called Slugterra." Max said. "People and slugs live in harmony down in Slugterra." Vandana said. "Sometimes, people use slugs in special duels. They use blasters to sling them. And when they reach the right velocity, they transform and use their own unique powers." Wandella said. "We each have 5 slugs of our own. They were given to us by our friends, Eli and Harley Shane." Xena said. "But problem is, both worlds have too many dangers. So, our 2 worlds can never mix together." Yeager said. "We swore we'd keep Slugterra a secret from those who would pose a threat to it." Zad said. Sydney and Kirby looked at each other in awe at what they were told. "We understand if you guys think this is too big a secret." Max said. "No. We get it. We won't tell anyone." Sydney said. "Yeah. Your secret's safe with us." Kirby said. "Thanks, guys. That really means a lot to us." Vandana said.

After lunch, they headed off to their next class. "So, you guys think we have any idea what we'll be doing in today's class?" Xena asked. "Who knows? Things at school are always unpredictable." Zad said. "You're exaggerating, Zad. Things at school aren't that unpredictable." Max said. Just then, a staff member walked right up to them. "Maxwell McGrath and Ferrus Quintuplets? Principal and Vice Principal Fujikawa wants to see you at their office right away." The staff member said. Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets were shocked to hear that the Fujikawa Twins wanted to see them, fearing that they might be in trouble. They headed towards the Fujikawa Twins' office. Sydney and Kirby watched them go with worry before entering the classroom.

A few moments later, Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets found the Fujikawa Twins' office and entered. There, they saw the Fujikawa Twins looking very serious and scary. Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets were now very worried as they thought they were in big trouble. As if sensing their worries, the Fujikawa Twins' expressions suddenly softened up. "There's no need for worries, young ones." Shiba said. "Yes. You're not in trouble." Yuni said. That made Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets confused. "You see, Yuni and I are undercover N-Tek agents." Shiba revealed, surprising them. "Yes. And so are some of the other teachers and staffs here at Copper Canyon High." Yuni said. "Except for Dr. Thornhill. He's just an annoying thorn in everyone's side." Shiba said. That last part made Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets sigh in relief. "Anyway, Commander Forge wanted to make sure that you 6 were ready for whenever he and N-Tek need you for urgent situations." Shiba explained. "Yes. And you 6 will be given special excuses so your grades will be maintained." Yuni said. "And you will be given special assignments for your subjects and projects." Shiba said. Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets were stunned, but happy to hear that they won't have to worry about their schoolwork while they do their superhero work saving Copper Canyon. "Thank you, Principal and Vice Principal Fujikawa." Max said. "Please. Just call us Shiba and Yuni." Shiba said. "Yes. We're all N-Tek after all." Yuni said. Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets each shook hands with the Fujikawa Twins.

Afterwards, after school ended, Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets exited the school and met up with Sydney and Kirby at the entrance. "Are you guys okay? What happened when you guys were called in?" Sydney asked with worry. "It's okay, Syd. The Fujikawa Twins just gave us special excuses for urgent situations with our family." Max said. Sydney and Kirby were shocked to hear that. "Man, you guys are so lucky." Kirby said. Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets smiled at each other, knowing that today had been a good day for them.

Well, I know that was short. But wasn't it pretty cool? Max and the Ferrus Quintuplets reveal their slug secrets to Sydney and Kirby. Plus, they learn that the principal and vice principal of Copper Canyon High, the Fujikawa Twins, and several other teachers and staffs are undercover N-Tek agents. And they've been given special excuses in order to protect Copper Canyon. But who else in Copper Canyon is an undercover N-Tek agent? What other secrets does N-Tek carry?
