Chapter 110 The Pact Of Evan And Black

"I was in prison for murder, and I'm returning here to commit it again!" Sirius shouted. "I will kill him with my own hands! I will avenge James and Lily!"

"You can't do anything in your current state…" Looking at Black's appearance, Evan gently shook his head.

"It's useless to say more. You've won, hand me over, go ahead!"

Black weakly closed his eyes, his head leaning against the wall. He was completely decadent like never before.

Suddenly, his eyes snapped open again; he became enraged and reluctantly shouted, "That boy who lives in the same dormitory as Harry, the Weasley boy, that boy's rat is an Animagus, it's Peter Pettigrew!"

"Peter Pettigrew?" Evan blinked.

"Believe me, you are also an Animagus, you just have to look more closely at that rat, or use the Animagus reversal spell on him..." Black suddenly stopped and said, "You must think I'm crazy, right?"

"To be honest, you don't look much different from a madman right now."

"I'm sure you're confused. Do you know who Peter really is?" Black suddenly smiled. His smile was filled with hatred. "Let me tell you, let me tell you about the true face of that hero in the eyes of the people. When we were at Hogwarts..."

Evan said nothing. Looking at Black's appearance, he knew he wanted to recall his student days, and Evan didn't mind hearing this hidden story.

However, it was not the right time or occasion.

This is the Owl Post Office. Other people could enter at any moment. Before the whole truth was revealed, he didn't want people to misunderstand them and he didn't want to be associated with Black.

Moreover, Hermione was still waiting for him outside. He couldn't stay here much longer.

"I apologize for interrupting your memories, Sirius, we will get to the point as soon as possible. Regarding Pettigrew, he is Ron's rat. I believe you!" Evan quickly said. "In fact, I know a lot about him."

"What? How much do you know about that man?!" Black's eyes widened and he suddenly exclaimed excitedly.

"A lot! Definitely more than you think. Of course, I still need more details from you, but not here!" Evan said in a relaxed tone. "And, it would be better if you lowered your voice, unless you really want to attract the attention of Aurors and Dementors."

"What did Lupin tell you about Peter?" Black said in a low voice, with a suspicious look. "No, he wouldn't say anything about us; maybe Dumbledore, it's very much his style, but if it really were him, you wouldn't be standing here alone at this moment."

"I researched the events of that year, what happened before you were arrested, and what you did at school was no secret," Evan said, blinking. "To be honest, the only thing that intrigues me is the Marauder's Map, where did you get enough magical power to create it? I heard from Lupin that you received help from a certain object in the Forbidden Forest. That place requires the approval of certain creatures to enter. Who are they?"

"They are the Centaurs; the colony of Centaurs in the Forbidden Forest was hiding a kind of treasure left by Godric Gryffindor. That thing can provide a wizard with a lot of magical power." Black was excited again. "I can take you there, and help you get the approval of the Centaurs, but getting that thing depends on whether you can pass the final test. In return, you just need to bring me Peter Pettigrew!"

"Deal!" Evan hastily agreed.

He listened to Sirius Black's statements and combined them with the information he already had.

If there are no setbacks, the legendary magical object hidden deep in the Forbidden Forest with the colony of Centaurs should be the key to Gryffindor's secret treasure.

However, how to obtain the approval of the Centaurs, and what is the final test?

This will certainly not be simple; otherwise, Black would have achieved it long ago. Given that the four have failed, Evan is not sure he will succeed. Still, he will not give up this opportunity to try. Furthermore, his original intention was to help Black.

"Go back and capture that rat, no, no, it's too risky. Peter may be weak, but he is an adult wizard. It's not safe for you, a young wizard, to take this on. Just help me get into the Gryffindor common room. I'll take care of the rest."

"I have a better idea. Why don't we tell the professors?"

"Tell them?" Black shook his head. "Besides you, who else would believe me? They think I betrayed James and Lily, then killed Peter Pettigrew and twelve innocent Muggles. Everyone considers me mad, and no one will believe me."

"I don't know about others, but Professor Dumbledore and Professor Lupin would still believe you."

"No, I can't take that risk. Now that they don't believe me, I can't trust them, especially Lupin, he... In short, it's my own fault for being alone. I must deal with this on my own!" Black said stubbornly, "I convinced James and Lily to let Peter Pettigrew be their Secret Keeper. They were killed because of my stupidity; it's entirely my fault. I must kill him myself to avenge James and Lily!"

Black spoke; tears uncontrollably streamed down his gaunt cheeks.

"It's okay, it's fine," looking at Black, Evan had a headache.

Black's decision raised the difficulty of the problem by several levels. He stubbornly believed that the deaths of James and Lily were entirely his fault. To maintain his pride and self-esteem, he would not accept any help to carry out his vengeance.

It was as if he preferred to stay in Azkaban for twelve years to atone, rather than defend himself.

Not only did he refuse to defend himself, but he also felt it wasn't worth it!

No wonder he did not seek Dumbledore's help after escaping from prison; no wonder he had not attempted it for so long.

Although this deal with Evan was somewhat of a compromise, he was forced to do it.

In Black's eyes, Evan was helping him catch Peter Pettigrew, and he was helping him gain the approval of the Centaurs in exchange. Everything seemed more like a transaction rather than assistance.

"The password to enter the Gryffindor common room is 'Strange Skins.' Sir Cadogan will let you in," Evan continued, "But I suggest you wait one more day, as the semester ends tomorrow. I have confirmed that during these Christmas holidays, only four Gryffindor students will be at Hogwarts: Harry, Ron, Hermione, and myself."

"Hmm, a typically weak thought; I wonder if you are truly a Gryffindor?" Black completely dismissed Evan's advice. "I have been waiting for this day for twelve years. I won't wait any longer; I will do it tonight!"
