Chapter 111 Identity Revelation
"We must be cautious. Peter Pettigrew is a cunning opponent. We must not underestimate him. Have I noticed that you don't even have a wand?"
Observing Black's appearance, Evan couldn't help but bring his hand to his face.
Throughout these events, Black was like an amplified version of Harry.
Well, at least Harry sometimes heeded other people's advice, but Black completely ignored them.
Evan noticed a white card that Black had just left on the ground. It was a payment confirmation slip from an owl mail order.
The ordered item was a Firebolt and the recipient was Harry Potter.
This was Black's Christmas gift for Harry. He glanced at the astronomical price tag. Evan wondered, this guy had the time and means to buy such a valuable item for Harry, but he can't afford to buy a wand for himself? It's simply unbelievable!
"Wand?" Sirius Black said disdainfully. "I have no need for such a thing. I can face Peter Pettigrew with my own hands."
"This is not a matter of strength. He may not be on your level in power, but if he tries to escape, anything could happen, just like it did 12 years ago!" Evan continued to persuade Black, "We... You must catch him this time. That is the only way you can clear your name."
"You still don't understand, boy." Black roared loudly. "I repeat, I don't care what others think of me. I don't care if they see me as guilty. I just want him dead! I can't wait any longer!"
His booming voice shook the dust on the owl post office ceiling.
"I can understand your desire for revenge, but at least you must consider Harry. I've heard you are his godfather. This is your final mission, the last thing his parents entrusted to you!" Evan had more to say, "Do you want Harry to have a 'killer' as a godfather? Do you want him to think that of you? That his father's best friend betrayed his friends to Voldemort?"
Upon hearing Evan's words, Sirius calmed down.
His body trembled softly, his eyes filled with pain.
"In the past 12 years, Harry has had a very tough life at his aunt's house. The Dursleys don't want him. You know that." Evan said softly, "Maybe he would agree to live with you, if you manage to clear your name."
"The son of James and Lily, living with me..." Tears welled up in Black's eyes; he wiped them away and sobbed. "You're right. For Harry's sake, I will let that rat live a few more days."
"Alright, you can come to the Gryffindor common room at eight o'clock tomorrow night." Evan said happily. "The goal shouldn't be to kill Peter Pettigrew, but to capture him alive. I'll make sure the rat is there for you. If possible, I'll catch him myself in advance."
Evan still had more to say, and as he was preparing to discuss more details of tomorrow's plan with Black, Hermione's voice suddenly echoed from downstairs.
"Are you upstairs, Evan?"
"I am, I will be down in a moment." Evan answered hastily, calling Crookshanks, who was on the window sill, and he jumped into his arms.
"Who is this girl, your young girlfriend?" Black had a smile at the corner of his lips.
"No, just my classmate." Evan explained quickly, "You should meet her. Her name is Hermione Granger. She is a good friend of Harry's."
"I know that girl, a truly beautiful young lady. Judging from your appearance, she seems to be your senior." Black glanced at Evan's face and noticed his embarrassment. "However, I just saw you with her at Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop..."
"What I do with Hermione has nothing to do with you," said Evan, blushing.
"In my student days, I was more popular than you. Many girls wrote me love letters, but I wasn't as skilled as you. I never pursued my senior..."
"Hush and quickly transform into your Animagus form. Stay here until we leave," Evan raised his wand and spoke politely, "Remember, the time is tomorrow night at eight o'clock."
Evan concluded his words and tucked his wand into his waist.
He brushed the dust off his body and descended the stairs with Crookshanks. He saw Hermione's flushed face in the chill, looking at him with concern.
"I found Crookshanks, Hermione!"
"What's he doing here?" Hermione held Crookshanks. "How did he manage to come to Hogsmeade on his own? It's so far from the school..."
She had barely finished speaking when she stopped and glanced behind Evan.
Following her gaze, Evan hastily turned his head. He saw a large black dog descending the stairs slowly, hunched and behaving decently, like a nobleman entering a high-level banquet. He didn't look like a stray dog at all.
Damned Sirius Black, coming down and stirring up trouble. Hadn't he just been told to stay on the upper floor?
"Evan, this big black dog!" Hermione looked at Black in panic, and said uncertainly, "Is this the creature Harry saw?"
"What creature? I've said it before, it was just a stray dog!" Evan approached to kick Black, who leaped to avoid Evan's foot.
His eyes darted between Evan and Hermione, a truly human smile on his lips, and he looked at Evan with an expression known to all men.
Then, he ran towards Hermione, sticking out his tongue and wagging his tail, finally starting to resemble a normal dog.
"Before you turn into a slug, scram!" Evan drew his wand and gritted his teeth.
"Wait a moment, Evan!" Hermione hurriedly stopped him. She looked at Black incredulously for a moment and suddenly whispered to him, "I always feel like this dog is not normal. Harry said he saw it many times, from the streets of London to Hogwarts, and now it's in Hogsmeade. Common stray dogs can't travel that far."
"Perhaps it's a coincidence. The stray dog Harry talked about, I've seen it. They are not the same," Evan replied.
Because of how close she was to Hermione, she kept whispering in his ear, her breath brushing against his skin.
His face blushed with the heat of the moment. His heart pounded fiercely, and his thoughts returned to Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop.
He was a second away from her lips. They still had time; maybe he should go back with her there and finish what he hadn't done.
"No, Evan! This is definitely not a coincidence. I saw this dog near the forest in recent days. It was watching Harry's Quidditch practice. It wasn't just any dog," said Hermione, looking at Sirius Black.
Black looked at her strangely and approached slowly to hear what she was telling Evan.
"Evan, this big black dog..." Hermione lowered her voice. "I think it's an Animagus!"
"What?!" Upon hearing Hermione's words, Evan choked.
Sirius Black, who had just approached, apparently heard the same as Evan, and the smile on his face abruptly froze.
