Homecoming and Study Date

White Tiger made her way home, still in shock at the discovery that the Upside-Down had somehow been opened again and worse, the occupants had been taken over by a Symbiote. Given all they knew, this clearly meant only one thing which was worrying, as it made things considerably worse, there was only one way it was possible and that was their most dangerous enemy, one who they had faced before and had only barely managed to defeat, Venom.

'If Venom's back and he's got these...creatures on his side...it's gonna be problematic...be even worse than before.'

Shaking her head, praying it wouldn't come to that, she stopped on a rooftop, the rooftop of the building where she lived with her moms in their apartment. She looked around carefully but there was nobody about, that was all she needed, she picked up the backpack she'd stashed there and quickly got changed into her regular clothes, stashing her costume within the backpack which she slung over her shoulder and began making her way quickly down the fire escape to the one right outside her room. Opening the window she climbed in and set the backpack down on her bed and stretched, acting casual. She carefully opened the door to her bedroom and listened, she could hear her parents in the kitchen, chatting together. Knowing what to do she slipped out of her room, edging the door shut and glanced over, Jane Hopper-Mayfield and Max Hopper-Mayfield were chatting together as they worked on the dishes, both laughing, both with their backs to her, that was what Terry needed.

She crept down the hallway a little, taking great care to step over, rather than on, the creaky floorboard. She reached the front door and carefully opened it, moving into the right position before closing it, this time in a more natural way. The noise got her moms attention and they turned, both smiling.

"Terry, welcome home." Jane greeted her happily. "Where did you disappear to?"

Terry gave a small smile and shrugged. "Sorry about that, I kinda...I went to go and meet up with Jake, Eddie and the others, we all had a few things to talk about."

Max quirked an eyebrow. "Oh really...just meeting the others, not any...boys, girls anything?"

Terry laughed and shook her head. "Mom, really, it was just Jake and the others."

Jane snorted and shook her head too while Max just smirked. Finally with the jokes over, the dishes done and with nothing else really to do at the moment, the family went to relax and watch TV.

As they watched, Terry's mind raced. 'I wonder what's happening with all that, is Venom really planning something...is he, should I, should ask about the Upside-Down? No, they'll ask why I want to know and get suspicious…'

She resolved to figure things out later, right now, she just had to enjoy this time with her family and settled in to watch the TV with her moms.

It was the following day, officially vacation time, but that did mean something else for one member of the young group of Avengers. Jake was in his bedroom at this moment, making some modification to his web-shooters, he naturally was doing this secretly, door shut and keeping an ear out. Luckily that, and his Spider-Sense, warned him right away that there was trouble, he acted quickly, only just getting them out of sight into his desk drawer as the door to his bedroom opened.

"Jake, someone to see you." Will said.

He bit his lip. "Oh, sure, thanks dad."

He waited until Will left before making sure he stashed his tools too, luckily he had been able to cover them with his hands when Will opened the door. He managed to get everything put away just in time as Jessica entered the room.

"Hi Jake." The pretty young blonde greeted him with a warm smile.

Jake felt his face heat up but he managed to smile. "Hi, um, yeah, the study date, right. Let me just get my stuff."

Jessica nodded, sitting down at the desk in the other chair. Jake quickly got up and went to grab his school bag, trying hard to keep his cool, still unable to believe that his crush was right here. But he still couldn't help himself, he knew what he wanted to say to her, but the words stuck in his throat, his shyness practically overcoming him.

So he tried to just put it to the back of his mind and focus on the study date they had planned. As things progressed he was pleased to see that he was able to explain things well enough, mainly helping Jessica out successfully with the things she needed help with.

"Thanks for this, Jake." She said at last. "I...I would've been stuck with this all summer if you hadn't helped."

Jake flushed again but smiled. "Oh, um...sure, no problem."

Jessica nodded, surprisingly also blushing. "So, yeah, um...oh, never mind, let's finish this off, sorry. My mind was wandering."

"Oh, um, sure." He replied.

He was confused as to her strange behaviour. What he didn't realize was that Mike and Will had peeked in at this point and noticed Jessica's shy behaviour and how similar it was to Jake's earlier. They shared a smile and shook their heads before heading back and leaving the two teens to finish their 'study date' together, hoping that something would happen to bring them together. Hopefully nothing quite as drastic as what happened to them of course, but it was still their fond hope, noting just how Jake looked at Jessica, the obvious true love there.

End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
