"Medivac 357 to Henry Ford ER, be advised we have a patient en route with a gunshot wound to her left shoulder. Patient is a 19 year old female officer, blood pressure is 98/65, heart rate is 136… have units of A Negative blood and an OR on standby…"

Everything was still blurry when Leah opened her eyes… the OR wasn't needed as a medical android had acted swiftly and removed the bullet that was partially lodged in Leah's left shoulder.

Given that the medical android was being yelled at by a human doctor right now, Leah knew that the doctor didn't approve of what had happened.

'But if the tactics save a life, why are you so damn angry?' Leah thought as she looked around… and saw a CyberLife blazer nearby as Connor walked into the trauma room.

"So I wasn't hallucinating… you actually got me off of the terrace." Leah responded as Connor sat down.

"Your life took priority over my instructions to go into stasis at CyberLife, Officer Anderson. Hospital staff have contacted Detective Reed since they cannot reach Lieutenant Anderson." Connor explained.

'Damn… Hank is probably too drunk to answer his phone. Or he's too angry at me and doesn't want to check on me at all.' Leah thought as she tried to sit up but Connor stopped her and readjusted the bed so she didn't have to move.

"I do not recommend trying to escape from the hospital, especially after a transfusion. You lost a lot of blood, Officer." Connor explained.

"You can call me Leah if you wish to. There's no need to be so formal… you saved my life." Leah replied.

"I did what I was programmed to do. But I am relieved to know that you're going to be okay, Leah." Connor responded before the curtain was pulled back and they saw Gavin before he hesitantly walked into the room.

"Hello… they told me that you got her off of the terrace. Thank you, you can go back to CyberLife now." Gavin replied as he tried to keep from getting irritated at seeing an android.

Looking at Leah, Connor noticed tension in her eyes as he picked up on her stress levels spiking.

"Do you want me to leave, Officer?" Connor questioned.

"If you're not immediately programmed to, I wouldn't mind if you stay." Leah explained.

Gavin rolled his eyes, knowing that getting angry at Connor staying would accomplish nothing.

'Fucking androids! I swear, this child is gonna give me a fucking heart attack if I start arguing with her!' Gavin thought angrily.

Gavin walked over to Leah and they hugged, Leah keeping her right arm still so her hug was half of one.

"You scared the fuck out of me earlier, Red! I thought I had lost you!" Gavin responded quietly before they let go.

"I still can't believe what happened earlier." Leah explained before she heard her phone ringing and reached for it, answering it after seeing August 16th and 12:05am on the screen. "Hey, Jimmy. Did you finally kick Hank out of the bar?" She responded.

"Fowler actually showed up here and got him… please tell me you're alright."

"Define alright… I got shot." Leah explained.

"No wonder Fowler was furious earlier! How bad?!"

"Bullet had to be removed from my left shoulder, one had already grazed my head." Leah explained.

"Fucking hell, you could've died! I'm sorry Hank didn't answer his phone earlier."

"How drunk was he?" Gavin asked once Leah had lowered the phone and he put the phone on speaker.

"When Fowler dragged Hank out of here, Hank was singing Piano Man."

"Was his phone on Do Not Disturb?" Gavin asked.

"Leah, am I on speaker phone?"

"Yes, I'm sorry. And Gavin's likely going to have to drive me home when I get out of here." Leah explained.

"Well if you see Hank, tell him off."

"Well, we're not on speaking terms actually, we had a fight earlier." Leah explained.

"Damn, why?"

"I poured his alcohol down the drain." Leah responded.

"So that explains why he wasn't at work." Gavin replied.

"I've got to close up soon, kids. Gavin, keep an eye on her."

"You got it, Jimmy." Gavin responded before they hung up and Leah set her phone aside.

His LED turning yellow, Connor saw the message flash in front of him.

'Return to CyberLife for further instructions.'

"I have been instructed to return to CyberLife." Connor explained as he stood up. "Please do not get shot again, Leah. Detective Reed, please keep an eye on her." He responded before he left… and Gavin rolled his eyes.

"Fucking androids!" Gavin muttered.

"Don't be an ass, Gavin, I don't want to hear it!" Leah snapped at him, Gavin turning to her.

"Fine, I'll behave. Right now, I'm just glad you're going to be okay." Gavin responded before they hugged again for a few seconds. "You scared the hell out of me, Red. I don't want to lose anyone else, especially after…"

"Unfortunately, there were a few casualties tonight. Gavin, I'm so sorry but Antony was killed." Leah explained, Gavin holding back a sob by covering his mouth.

"Oh fuck…" Gavin responded as tears trailed down his face and he lowered his hand. "Does Pamela know?" He asked.

"I don't know but I can't even imagine she'd believe anyone who tells her… Gavin, Pamela's pregnant… she and Antony just found out a few weeks ago." Leah explained.

"That poor lady… now she has to raise their baby on her own." Gavin responded.

At the Anderson house after Fowler had sobered Hank up, he left him alone to get cleaned off and changed.

Hank emerged from the bedroom, walking to Fowler.

"It's after midnight, where is Leah?" Hank questioned.

"Now you care about your niece? She was shot earlier, Hank." Fowler explained, Hank turning terrified.

Hank followed Fowler outside with Fowler driving them to Henry Ford Hospital and the two running into the ER… and Hank pulled the curtain back and saw Leah before he cautiously approached her.

"Hey, Hank." Leah responded.

"Hey, kiddo… I'm so sorry I wasn't there to protect you. And for how I treated you when we fought." Hank replied.

"Right now, I'm just glad you're here instead of passed out drunk on the floor." Leah responded before Hank sat down and carefully looked at her injuries.

"Shit… you could've gotten killed, Babydoll. You deserve better than how I've treated you." Hank replied before they hugged.

But like every other time, Leah knew it wouldn't last.

November 5th 2038…

Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio blared through Leah's airpods as she was out on a morning run, seeing some of the sunlight peeking through the clouds… and she stopped, looking at the sky and letting the song play before she closed her eyes and moved her head to the music.

The 20 year old's mind was still on what had happened back in August… and she knew she could've died were it not for the android who had saved her life that night.

Before she could get her mind going, she saw Markus leaving the Manfred residence.

Markus saw her as they stopped, Leah turning Spotify off and putting her airpods away before they hugged.

"Good morning, Leah. I'm glad to see that you're back to running in the early mornings." Markus responded.

"I'm glad it stopped raining long enough. Hey, if you're up for it tomorrow, we can go catch a movie." Leah replied as they let go.

"Sounds like a wonderful idea, Baby Girl. I have to get to Bellini Paints in a bit so I'll see you later during your lunch break." Markus responded before they hugged again for a few seconds.

Markus left as Leah put her airpods back in and reactivated Spotify as Check Yo Self by Ice Cube blared through her airpods as she started running again.

Neither of them had any idea what would happen in just a few hours.
