Love Blooms

Eddie smiled lightly as he finally stopped with his board, grinning as he looked over at Tanya who was approaching him, having done the same. He couldn't help but smile as he marvelled at the punk skater girl, her platinum blonde hair tied back in a ponytail, but a few strands had come loose and were being blown by the wind. Her blue eyes met his, dancing merrily as she finally reached him.

"That was pretty awesome Eddie...I'm surprised you were so eager to join me though." She remarked.

Eddie smiled. "Yeah well, I just thought...you know, it would be fun."

Tanya shrugged and thought for a moment. "Hmmm. You know, I've never actually seen you skateboarding before this, how were you so good, was this really your first time?"

"Um, yeah...I just, have good balance is all." He replied with an awkward smile, doing his best to keep his real secret.

Tanya quirked an eyebrow and then laughed, a beautiful sound to Eddie's ears. He thought for a moment, he was worried after all, but despite the worry, there was something else, something more.

'It would be irresponsible, dangerous...the life I lead, but...I can't help it, I always feel so, so wonderful around her...I should…'

He swallowed and gathered his courage.

"Tanya, I...there's something I've been meaning to say to you for a while now...You see…" He began, already feeling he was making a mess of things, could he sound any more pathetic. He felt even worse when Tanya laughed, but then her next words dispelled that notion.

"Oh Eddie, I can't believe it's taken you this long to say this." She said. "I was about to tell you how I felt instead."

"You, you mean-?"

"Does this answer your question." She replied.

With that she kissed him and, delighted, Eddie kissed back.

Watching this happen before their eyes, Stephanie and Matthew laughed in delight and Stephanie held out her hand.

"I told you, I told you she'd be the first one to make a move." She said.

Matthew grumbled, taking out some money and handing it to her. "I could've sworn Eddie was bolder than that."

Stephanie shook her head. "There's a big difference between fighting supervillains and asking out your crush, considering what happened between us, I would've thought you'd remember that."

Matthew blushed, knowing he had indeed fumbled all over the place when trying to ask Stephanie out.

"Urgh, alright, you win." He replied, shaking his head.

"Come on, lighten up guys." Barbara's voice cut in.

Thomas' voice joined hers. "This is a good day it seems, we should be happy for him...and the others too."

They turned to see the twins, along with Jeff and Olivia, approaching them, all smiling warmly.

"Oh…" Matthew wondered. "What are you talking about."

Olivia laughed. "See for yourself, someone else got their luck in love."

They turned to where she pointed and saw Amanda and Nathan, also kissing, it seemed that despite the concerns of the risks they would face, their love for those they felt so strongly towards encouraged them to take the risk, giving them strength, just like it had for all of them too.

"So...what about the other family members you guys are close to?" Jeff asked.

"Oh, Terry and Jake...I think they're doing okay." Barbara commented. "Terry's definitely gonna try confessing to Michelle right now, I just hope things turn out okay."

They all nodded, smiling hopefully at that.

Michelle looked around with a warm smile as she stood by the bodega while Terry exited and joined her, handing her a drink, holding one of her own.

"Thanks." Michelle replied taking a sip.

Terry nodded, feeling the heat already rise to her cheeks. "No problem. Thanks for agreeing to this."

Michelle just nodded. "No trouble, you said you wanted to talk?"

"Yeah, it's just, well...um…" She began to say, hardly able to get the words out. "So, did you get all that stuff the teachers told us to do over the summer done?"

She cursed herself for fumbling and asking something so stupid.

Michelle however didn't seem to notice, or mind. "Yeah, it wasn't too hard...are you having trouble with it, need some help?"

"Oh no, I got it too, I um…" Terry replied but then sighed. "Sorry, that wasn't what I wanted to talk about really. I just...I-"

Michelle turned to face Terry, the two of them having finished their drinks and put their empty cups in the trash, she tilted her head.

"Terry, is everything alright...I'm kinda worried here." She said.

Terry shook her head. "Michelle, the truth is, I...I kinda, no, not kinda. The truth is I actually, have feelings for you. And I just...oh, shit, what was I thinking, I-"

She was cut off by the blinding smile on Michelle's face followed by the Asian-American girl throwing her arms around her and their lips meeting in a delightful kiss.

Unlike the others however, Jake was wary, looking at his phone as he bit his lip. He was the only one not in his civilian clothes, instead in his Spider-Boy suit. He saw messages from the other Avengers, all of them had done it at last, they had spoken to their crushes and were all now officially dating. Kelsey was expressing delight for all of them while he sighed as he bowed his head.

'Dammit guys, the risks involved...you're willing to take them huh?' He thought to himself. 'You're all far braver than me then. I can't, I can't even begin to imagine talking to Jessica, telling her the truth. I couldn't do that to her…'

He sighed heavily, just thinking that hurt him inside, but then, before he could dwell on it further, his phone buzzed and he checked it, he knew the others would be too, it was their alert system.

"Trouble at the docks." He read aloud. "Dockside warehouse in Upper West Side, that's...Kingpin owns that place."

Now worried and curious, he quickly put his phone away and began swinging in that direction, the others would need time to suit up and get ready, so he knew he'd be there first, he immediately decided to do some recon before they arrived, it would help to know what they were getting into after all.
